Cellular strength and throughput - Honor 8 Real Life Review

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Honor 8's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.

No complaints what so ever. They have a signal + setup in place that extends the range of your signals....I have not had the opportunity to test this out due to always being in a good service area though.

Is it the same technology as was in Honor 7?

Connectivity is great (holds onto signal better than my S7 on LTE.) However, the throughput speeds are roughly 60% that of my S7. In spots where I can get 100Mbps, I'll only get 60mbps. Not a huge deal for me but if you're wanting to download really large files quickly this device will be slower than the competition. Still a good deal for the price, though.

sometimes lose signal, not very often tho

No issues with signal strength, performs well

Any idea why the RSSNR is so low?
I have an Axon 7 measuring 15.2 in the same exact location.
I tested at another location 150 mi away and they were similar or results with the Honor 8 being ~2.0 and the Axon being ~20.

It performs really well for me.

At max signal of LTE it performs awesome.

nocomplain.its good

Signal reception is good. No complaint here. I think this ia because of the dual antenna and works flawlessly.

No problems with reception. Text messages come quickly.

T211 signal strength - design flaw?

I've been rocking a T211 since last week. With most Samsung bloat deleted, it runs sufficiently smooth and I love it for the most part. I am using it as a phone and for my preferences, while other devices offer better specs, I do not think there is a single device on the market with a better overall size and form factor.
One problem: I discovered last night that if I hold the tablet in landscape orientation (or if my hands/fingers otherwise cover the back of the upper left corner of the device - bottom left in landscape), my signal strength decreases by up to 4 bars; if I don't have a strong signal, I lose my signal. It is sort of like that iPhone 4 issue from way back, but it doesn't seem to be fixed that easily. Not necessarily a huge deal, as reverse landscape generally works okay.
Do others experience the same?
(ETA - I should add that with a strong signal, it turns out I only lose maybe one bar tops. But the antenna should ideally have been placed elsewhere)

Don't know about the 3G signal strength, but if I enclose my Tab 3 7.0 (T210) with my thumbs and index fingers on the front an the back on the side with the home button the wifi signal drops significantly. It's probably related to the location of the wifi antenna and that the human flesh absorbs some of the radiation of wifi / 3G.

Call quality

When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the LG G5's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The call Quality is excellent. I'm coming from a background of a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z3 an Alcatel Idol One Touch 3 and a number of other phones. The speaker phone quality is awesome and the earpiece quality is very good as well and no one has to ever say they cannot hear me. I'm very pleased with my purchase beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Fairly good and reliable signal
I know it's not unique to the G5 but the HD voice calls on Verizon are pretty good. I just wish it wasn't solely a Verizon thing.

it isn't.
On the off-brand T-Mobile aka MetroPCS with the EU H850...best speeds I've had on a phone but I was with Sprint for so long that barely counts...
European H850 here and it has hd voice too... sounds pretty good
Poor but I think its a defective device. I have a G4 on the same network and it is flawless.
The best I've experienced as you'd expect, it's difficult to make. Judgement though given I switched networks with my latest contract. There are probably too many variables to give a concrete answer but calls are always crisp with 2+ signal. 4.5/5 for me.
Id give it a 4/5. Using HD voice apps to get its full potential, it is crystal clear
Nice call quality. But, when it's really really windy (and only then), my moto x force does the noise filtering job much much better tough.

Outdoor visibility (max brightness)

Rate this thread to express how well you can see the OnePlus 3's display outdoors. In case you've been playing Minecraft for 18 months straight, you might not known how to get outside anymore. Well, find the door and walk through it. A higher rating indicates that it has very high maximum brightness and thus fantastic outdoor visibility in direct sunlight.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Any comments on how is the screen brightness for outdoor? I'm using Droid Turbo right now and I must say that it is really bad in screen brightness, so I guess OP3 would be an upgrade for me in this department. lol...
Oneplus 3 has just an average outdoor visibility. Compared to Oneplus 2, I'd say, about 30% dimmer.
I've tried many devices, had iPhone 6s and 6s plus, Nexus 5x and 6p, Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge and s7 and HTC 10. I'm not a fanboy of one over the other.
I have always really been attracted to OnePlus for their vision and direction. Loved the OPO, like the OP2 but really wanted NFC as I use apple pay and Android pay frequently and was thrilled to see the announcement of the OP3.
With all that said, my take on the display. OnePlus 3s display is pretty good and while it is dimmer than the Galaxy s7 and even the HTC 10 (at least in direct sunlight), there isnt a phone I have used that is excellent under direct sunlight. Would I like it a little brighter, sure but under normal usage, I'd say it's on par with definitely my iPhone 6s and my Nexus 5x. The others with their qhd displays are a bit more brighter and vibrant but battery usage was significantly worse for me than the OP3 and for that I am thrilled as this provides really good screen on time.

Follow this thread hope it helps you. :good:
Is it just me, or does the brightness level barely change while in the 20-100% zone and drops dramatically when sliding down from like 5% to 0? Seems like 80% of the brightness level hides in the first millimeters of the slider.
Outdoor visibility is on acceptable level.
No visibility problem in sunlight.
I made a bicycle tour this week, and I could read the display OK in bright sunlight. Of course when snapping photos one can't discern details or whether it's really in focus etc., but that's not necessary! All photos ended up perfectly OK and in focus.

Playing a lot of PoGo these days and switched from a Oneplus One. Its a huge improvement over the One and has an excellent screen reading in direct sunlight compared to other devices I had.

Nice video thanks for sharing.
Visibility is good compared to the OnePlusOne. But the visibility is decreasing because the number of visible scratches on the Display is increasing every week. I do not know why this happens, none of my earlier smartphones had scratches (most of them were Nexus devices), but the OnePlus three has many.
I had my 1+3 on the beach today and I could barely read the text or see if the screen is on

Overall speed

Would you say that the LG V35 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the LG V35 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

I've had mine for a year-and-a-half now and have gone through 2 OS's and a plethora of updates " AT&T Model lol" and in terms of raw power, it's great. but keeping up that consistent speed and power requires you to do some routine based cache cleaning. no bueno means that is not a big deal to me because I've spent many many years was low-powered entry-level phones, but considering this thing was almost a $1,000, it should pretty much be-self automated. Not saying it's pain staking or tedious. I'm a heavy power user so after year and a half ago probably like 6 years old basically and it's about five steps to keep it running as good as I can to run pubg at the highest levels but an average user literally just hit the clean button that's it.
I apologize if some words don't make sense but I've gotten in an accident in my thumbs don't work that great and I live in a rule area so speech-to-text is not always correct and plus I can't find a special dialing one for my fat pudgy fingers LOL.
The V35 is noticeably faster and smoother than the V30. Not that V30 is a slow phone but the 845 is just better.

Question questions for pixel 6 pro owners

How is the device brightness in direct sunlight in daily use?
With latest upgrades, cell network or wifi issues? Not 5G but overall cell reception
One thing you like and dislike about P6P? VidMate Mobdro
Did you pay for Google preferred care? Why?
Thanks folks for the feedback, I made my decision to cancel OnePlus 10T and get p6p. .
Hello,
1. It's very good. Not the best in the industry, but the display itself is on the better side.
2. I always had a better signal reception than my girlfriend's iPhone 12 and other friends with iPhones 13. In comparison about 20% stronger.
3. Like: Camera, Dislike: Display's ability to go down to only 60 Hz from 120 Hz. OP 10 Pro can go down to 1 Hz. It would be better for a battery.
4. No. My P6P is imported to a country, where Google doesn't officially sell the device.
P6P is definitely better than OP 10T. But since two of my other friends had also P6Ps, both had somehow buggy experiences. But one's problems have been solved by upgrading to Android 13.
All pros and cons:
Pros:
Cameras, Updates and a promise of 2 more OS updates and 3 more security updates, display (mostly), Pixel-exclusive features, Speed and Fluency, curved display (for me), great stereo speakers.
Cons:
Slow charging (23 W at max and not sustained after phone starts to be warm...I had it measured) - takes about hour and half to two hours to fully charge, slower FP reader, no face unlock, unability to go to lower response rates, lower resell value and the whole controversy with plenty of bugs during the first months after release, Tensor is not that powerful.
I had a chance to compare my Pixel with OP 10 Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra and it can still stand on its own in fluency, camera department and for me it has much better software, timely upgrades than both of those phones. But they have their own advantages.
Great but you need it on auto brightness so it can go higher than the manual setting in direct sunlight.
Mine has not been any different to any other phone i have owned really but the reception is good just about everywhere on EE in the UK. The signal thingy on the phone is pretty meaningless and cannot be used to compare different phones so i go on can i or cant i use it and i have always been able to use it.
Like: flexible camera set up and support. Dislike curved screen and its a little bit too big (personal choice obviously)
No.
