Cant be rooted and have xposed at the same time - Help with bug? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Im on OxygenOS 3.2.4
I recently found out that when I installed Xposed, I tried going into the app titanium backup and it stated that Im not rooted. I then flashed SuperSU and I could use titanium backup once again, but xposed would not work. It would say "xposed framework 85 is not installed". I then re-flashed the zip file in recovery and xposed worked again, but I could not access any root app as it said I was not rooted.
Is this a bug with the current version of OxygenOS or can it be fixed? If someone could help me I wold be great full, thank you.

Can you try this procedure.
1.claen flash your oos 3.2.4
2.flash supersu (v2.65 or higher)
3.flash xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64.zip
4.clear cache , dalvik cache
5.reboot - boot will take more time as it requires all apps to re-optimise
6.install xposed manager alpha 4.
=======
one more important note -
For proper working of TiBackup set SELinux to permissive before attempting backup restore (su-press enter-stop logd-press enter-setenforce 0-press enter)

There are several ways to clean flash but I will recommend flashing Full ROM zip( about 1.2 GB) of latest update (e.g oos 3.2.4).
For full ROM zip search for Naman Bhalla thread

A clean flash is a flash of the full rom (not just an update) and you need to wipe your device entirely before flashing (except storage because your .zips will be gone then)

As the title states i am rooted with twrp installed on marshmallow stock rom. I would like to install xposed framework. Is it possible? I really like the stock interface + it has the best battery life surprisingly. So if i can get it on stock it would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

yes, I just did this. in android, uninstall everything you have related to xposed then do the following:
in recovery, make a backup
in recovery install the xposed uninstaller: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/uninstaller/xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm.zip
clear dalvik cache
in revocery install this: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk23/arm/xposed-v86-sdk23-arm.zip
reboot

I'd check the Xposed threads because I believe that there's an Xposed Manager that can be used to install Xposed now. I'm currently on 30G on one of my devices and RR ROM on the other.
processes are a little different in later releases and other ROMs. I can't even use SuperSu anymore or the old methods of installing Xposed

Magisk on Verizon Note 4

Hello everyone,
As I'm sure everyone knows, Niantic has blocked rooted phones from playing with the most current update 0.37. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to find a ROM that will work on our phones and we can install magisk to be able to play with the latest update. If not, is there any other possible solution to play with the use of magisk or without giving up root completely. I'm currently running PaulPizz and have not tried any of the possible methods I have found from fear of losing root permanently. I'm open to any suggestions or ideas.
Thank you.
Try going to the Samsung Note 4 international section.. I just flashed a Note 7 port to my wife's phone and it rocks..
Could you possibly link to which one? Is it this one? Xerrum525 N7 FullFramework PortedRom for SM-N910C / SM-N910H
Also did you use magisk with it to use pokemon go?

I'd like to know too.
What I did was install PaulPizz. Once it finished I deleted the SuperSU folder via TWRP.
It booted up fine, I still had the SU app in my drawer, I did full unroot via SU. I then flashed the uninstall for Xposed and now I can play pogo.
I Haven't been able to get Magisk to work... I get unable to detect boot image. I'm unrooted for now on PaulPizz and can play PoGo 0.37

I downloaded an older version of the app from http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/niantic-inc/pokemon-go/.
I uninstalled the new version. Reinstalled the older. Ran fine. I've heard they'll force an update sooner or later but its good for now.
I also made sure to turn off auto app updated in settings.
I did find a solution using PaulPizz and magisk. It relatively follows most other tutorials. Plus I found a way to toggle magisk with tasker, if anyone is interested. I'll post a step by step tomorrow or possibly later tonight. Sorry to make everyone wait.
So this is how I got it work with PaulPizz ROM for Verizon Note 4 retail converted to Dev edition.
I take no credit for the creation of the files required for this install, but I kind of muttled my way through this installation and got the files from different posts so credit is to go to the creators of these files, I am just redistributing. If someone feels the need to take credit for these please feel free to let me know.
Make sure to download all apks and zips before and place on sd card before hand to save time. I have also included the uninstaller for magisk version of xposed if you would like, do not use this one during the installation of magisk to remove xposed though.
Only flash xposed and install apk if you still want xposed, if not you can skip those files.
1. Do a full backup of phone using TWRP
2. Go into SuperSU settings and do full unroot
3. Reboot into recovery and mount system partion
4. Go to advanced in recovery and select File explorer
5. Navigate to system and delete .supersu file
6. Flash xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm.zip and reboot system
7. Install pokemon go 0.37 and make sure it works at this point
8. Reboot into recovery again and flash Magisk-v6.zip, 1473968610260_phh-superuser-17-magisk.zip, and 1473980489208_xposed-v86.5-arm-alt-sdk23-topjohnwu.zip
9. Clear dalvik and cache and reboot system
10. After apps optimize install Magisk manager and Xposed Installer
11. Reboot and enjoy playing the new update. Just use Magisk Manager to turn root on/off at will before or after playing.
I'm going to create the tasker profile tomorrow and post instruction on that once completed to automatically activate Magisk when opening pokemon go.
If there are any questions, I will do my best to answer.

When are you getting that, when you flash the zip or install the apk? I'm guessing that's when you flash the included Magisk_6.zip. You are rooted using the retail to dev on an N910V model? I would maybe backup your current system and restore from before you unrooted and try again possibly.

Thanks again, it looks like the only difference was that I was on CPF3.r-2.
I tried going back to CPD1 and still no luck.
I appreciate you letting me know.
I used the Kyubi rom and uninstalled root with supersu and installed all of the magisk stuff and it works like a charm. All of the xposed modules work good too with the system less xposed. It takes a while to boot up after flashing magisk and clearing cache but worth it. The buddy system is pretty cool lol
Anyone else only able to MAYBE play on WiFi?

Well I have magisk installed but I dont know if the xposed went through entirely it says it flashed ok but according to the installer I don't have xposed installed? What's going on did I do something wrong
Did you remove the old xposed app after the flag and install the new xposed apk also? I think mine did the same, because I forgot to also install the xposed app after flashing the systemless xposed framework.
I was able to full unroot, delete the super su file in twrp. when I flash the Xposed uninstaller it removes the framework but leaves the APk in a form that I can't delete.
If I flash magisk and all the other stuff it goes through fine, but when I try to toggle root off in magisk it turns itself back on within a few seconds. I'm assuming this is because i didn't get Xposed all the way off?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.
Magisk will refuse to unroot while xposed is still there in the system form. Even a piece of it.
Well now I got Xposed off using tibu before I unroot. Everything installed, systemless Xposed registered as being active, but when I try to toggle root in magisk I get the same thing with it turning itself back on. If I try to request root privileges from an app I am told i have no root.
Ideas?

HELP: Issues updating rooted device to OOS 3.2.8

hello all,
I have a rooted OP3 running the latest TWRP recovery. Using these instructions I am trying to upgrade to 3.2.8 from 3.2.7. There are no errors displayed during OOS or SuperSU install steps.
But when the phone reboots - it stays stuck at the boot animation. This happens across several attempts. I do not have xposed installed, if it helps. Repeating the above steps with a 3.2.7 image works without issues.
Is there any way I can figure out where the 3.2.8 reboot is getting stuck at? I *do not* want to do a fresh install.
Any thoughts/ Suggestions? I have already posted at the above thread and thought I'd try my luck here too.
EDIT: Can a MOD please move this to Q&A forum. Just realized I posted to Guides, News & Discussion.

That's my last option. But that's as good as starting from scratch. In which case, I might as well postpone until Nougat arrives on the OP3

Flash the new Beta 10. i'm currently using it with root and it works great
Not sure what you mean - without a phone. I was able to roll back to 3.2.7 with zero issues
I was mulling over installing the Beta - but I understand Nougat is due in Jan? Also, is there a process to move to b10 without losing data?

Did you download the full 3.2.8 zip from http://downloads.oneplus.net? I did. And to my surprise, it erases the whole userdata partition, including TWRP backups and downloaded files (including SuperSU zip). So big warning if you try with that zip. I assume that this zip is intended for those reverting from Nougat Beta, to go back from F2FS to EXT4.
My solution was to restore an old TWRP backup that was saved on my PC and then reflash a modified full 3.2.8 zip where the last line in the update script was removed: the one that erases userdata partition. So before flashing full 3.2.8 zip from http://downloads.oneplus.net I recommend you to remove the last line in the update script.
No, I downloaded the Full ZIP from this official thread on the OP3 forums. I was aware of that line though. And from previous experience - the first thing I do when I make a TWRP backup is to move it off the phone. That and I purchased Titanium Backup long time ago. I use it to back up stuff surgically and sync it up to Dropbox every night. The app also seems to have the ability to make a recovery-flashable "update.zip" - something I have yet to try.
Appreciate the heads-up though.

OK. I also use TB, and from now on I use cloud storage
After the full modified 3.2.8 zip I successfully flashed official SuperSU 2.79, Xposed v87 and Bluspark r25 kernel. I use F2FS on data partition. It boots and runs fine!
The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is that it stays on the bootlogo (OnePlus logo, Powered by Android) for about 25 secs before the bootanimation begins when booting to system. Much faster before. When booting to recovery (TWRP 28, Bluspark) the time on bootlogo is normal (short). Any thoughts on that?
I wish I had, man. You went a number of steps ahead when your phone went past the boot animation
As a afterthought - try looking through your logs.

Xposed Uninstall

I installed xposed framework (sdk87) on my device Htc desire 530, but now I'm not able to uninstall it. I tried to uninstall it by flashing uninstaller zip through twrp but that didn't work.I even tried to uninstall it through xposed app but nothing happened ........
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you are having issues uninstalling Xposed Framework. Head on over to my Xposed Directory on AndroidFileHost by clicking HERE and download the uninstaller.
After downloading please reboot into TWRP recovery and go to the Mount section. Make sure the 'System' box is checked before flashing the uninstaller and complete it. Before rebooting though please clear your Cache/Dalvik..

Not trying to be a smart a** but did you make a back up before installing anything to your roms? If so just restore if not that sucks
I agree with Josh in the fact that if nothing is working you should restore a backup or flash a stock image.
Thank you so much ! I flashed stock system image & everything went well. Now the problem of xposed framework has been solved .....
Always remember the first and most important rule of Android Modification: Backup - Backup - Backup!
I usually perform a full nand backup of all partitions and then backup the backup to my laptop for safe keeping. I'm severely OCD when it comes to organization and typically keep about 4 different backups.
I know it blows to go back to stock, but I'm glad you're back up and running!

ROM new Lineage 14.1 Unofficial WhenICanlies d2tmo 4-10-18

I have been working on the sister models also. I saw no one was building these anymore so here it is I hope it can be enjoyed by all. Spread the word. provide feedback so other fans of this ROM may obtain it and work out any bugs if there are any. I will update once or twice a week depending on time and demand. I'm compiling for three different variants. Hit the thanks button and Enjoy. Dirty flash the updates not the initial flash of this rom but the updates to it. Initial install = Factory reset, wipe data and cache, install rom zip, install gapps zip, install su zip, reboot system. As of 9-3-18 i will be switching to Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver, that being said i do not know if i will have to change anything or do anything different to keep pushing these updates out but i will most definitely try to keep them coming.

Bluetooth dialtone when playing music fix
Settings > Battery > tap in 3-dot menu at top right tap on Battery optimisation. To show all apps and services here, select the ‘All apps’ options under the dropdown. Tap on both of the Bluetooth services and change them to Don't optimise.

I appreciate the feedback and no worries mate I'm still trying to get the no sim bug worked out in the att variant no luck so far sprint variant is doing good also
Update posted 4-17-18
It won't boot up for me. I installed the ROM after wiping my entire system through TWRP, flashed Gapps, and installed SuperSU provided by TWRP. When it boots up it says system isn't responding.

Wipe system, cache, and dalvik install rom zip install nougat Gapps and SuperSU all at the same time meaning do not reboot until you have flashed all three if it didn't work the first time try it again just make sure you wipe system, cache and dalvik and install the Gapps at the same time it sounds like it's booting up but conflicting with other elements otherwise it would be bootloop and not system isn't responding

Thank you for your rapid response! I will try that as soon as I get to my house and I'll let you know what happens
After doing what you said, it still says "process system isn't responding" I will try a few more times. Also, I'm flashing off nothing. There is no OS, no personal data, just TWRP. Does this have to be flashed on CM12 or something?

No this is lineage os 14.1 it's not mine I just build it because they have stopped doing it officially for this variant of the s3 but there's more to a phone than just the system and you have nothing but a recovery? There's bootloader modem, Efs etc. You wouldn't be able to even flash CM12. in TWRP are you going into advanced wipe or are you just swiping the slider?

What you said makes a lot of sense actually. Im used to just flashing back ups of other roms that I forgot how to flash fresh ones. I'm not used to this haha but I got it now. Stock rom 4.3 has been flashed via odin and the root method is currently on my screen.

If it's an update then dirty flash it if you already had SuperSU installed you will need to reflash the SuperSU zip if you are installing for the first time you just need to install the SuperSU app
