Can anyone confirm this root method works on US Sprint Note 7? - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone. I just got my Note 7! My old phone is rooted and I'd like to do that to my new Note. From my understanding, only non-US phones with EXYNOS chipsets can be boot-unlocked/rooted, Qualcomm WONT WORK from what Ive read. So does this method here work? http://www.androidinfotech.com/2016/08/samsung-note-7-sprint-n930p-marshmallow-firmware.html The model numbers are the SAME as mine.

I think you should try it and let us know. I'm sure as hell not going to be the guinea pig.

I don't trust that article any more than a flashing pop up that claims I'm the winner of a million dollar give away. Don't do it. If it's legit, it'll make its way to XDA. Until it's on XDA, don't even think about it.

Before you jump into rooting your phone, I want to make sure that you understand some of the consequences. The biggest of these for me is tripping Knox and not being able to use Samsung Pay.
EDIT: It says that it doesn't trip Knox. Without a custom recovery it isn't worth it to me, but things are moving in the right direction.

Doesn't trip Knox, STL no Android pay or Samsung pay.
I really miss custom roms (switched to a Verizon Note 5 and now Note 7) but if I can get root, Xposed, and CPU control I'll be ecstatic.

Just so you all know, I tried the Leaky Bros root and it WORKED! My Note 7 runs great and has root. Big thanks to "cruckus" and "freeza" for making this possible! Its a development stock rom build, runs very smooth. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202

[Q] Is there a root bounty yet?

Has one been established yet that I've missed?
I don't see one yet. The ATT forum has one up and its at about $1500 so far.
Man they're ahead of us. I'll wait for a more established member to start up a thread.
I'd be willing to throw down for root. Don't know what I'd do w/o Titanium Backup and AdFree :silly:
I would make a contribution.
If someone who has the time to keep track of donations can start the bounty thread I will donate as well.
A good question first, is which developer is willing to work on it? Chainfire maybe?
yeah i'd probably throw in a bit. i bet verizon could get a large bounty. didn't the S5 get like almost 10 grand? lol
We need to get someone who can get in touch with devs to start this. Cause it's going to bring more interest to people like chainfire to figure out a root method.

I think 10k for verizon and 8k for AT&T
Does anyone know if chainfire is actively working it?
I really only want root for AdAway and Titanium BackUp.... I'd be willing to throw down enough for a few beers for root.
Same, a few bucks towards root. I am all for that.
Count me in as well,
We need a proper thread started stat.
Yeah I'd throw in like $75 towards the pot
I'd definitely contribute $$$ for this.

I think we are currently on KitKat with our Note 4s. So if root is figured out for current config, just as in the past with other phones, simply block the update app with Titanium and stay on KitKat if this holds true and lollipop truly makes it an impossibility to achieve root from then on.
Just my thoughts.

[Q] help Root SCH-i535PP on 4.4.2

Ive been searching night and day trying to find a way to root my galaxy S3 (SCH-i535) running 4.4.2 . Ive come up empty handed and as may know TOWEL ROOT DOES NOT WORK ON THIS BUILD. The most progress I have made is unlocking developer options with 7-tap doctrine. (haha) So this is pretty much a "calling all car" for those out there who are well versed in the art of rooting and all things $ sudo.
Info on safely reverting to an android OS that is rootable would also be useful.
l or any knowledge about the SCH-I535PP on 4.4.3 (pre paid verizon Galaxy S3) and exploits discovers .
Im lightly knowledgeable in Terminal, soooooo. If any one knows some work arounds or anything that would at least make me smile please feel free to write.
Tell me me what you all know and restore my faith in the power of the internet community.
much love,
-Lifehertz
ive also been looking
ive also been looking to root my phone also. all ive been able to dig up is possible roms that might be flashable with this model. and help would be greatly appreciated!
I knew I wasnt alone.
For some reason i have faith that someone is working on getting this phone rootable.
Until then lets keep the conversation going.
Do you have any links to these rims. Also, what are your thoughts?
I want root too because this phone is not compatible with samsung gear apps for my neo...very heartbreaking. ..wanted to put more apps on my watch but can't because this verizon galaxy s3 prepaid is not updated like all the other ones.....
Hey guys, I'm just posting to join in the misery. I feel like a hero for getting past the activation setup wizard! I have spent many hours researching how to root this stupid phone, and at this point its my white whale. There will be a way eventually, and this thread can be our anchor when that day comes. If anyone has a problem with the setup wizard, let me know.
The white whale under my friend.
Im curious as to how long the SCH-I535PP has been available on 4.4.3.
Because if it has been a short amount of time then the true developers and root wizards
Probably haven't had much need or want to work on a root for this phone.
I am noticing though after walmart dropped the price of the phone severely
And christmas came around. There are a Lot of new SCH-I535PP users. So maybe if we keep asking around and raising awareness about this build needing root, then a root genie will hear the cries of the community and get to work granting us our wish.
Verizon really locked this up with the recent update. This phone is two years old and there are many stronger phones coming out the root gods are focusing on blessing. But, its not hard to see that the SCH-I535PP is fantastic tool for its price point.
Please, anyone who reads this and is well versed in rooting phones, please do the SCH-I535PP community a solid and help us step out from being the prison bars of 4.4.2.
Thank you for letting me ramble. I hope it helped keep the spirit alive. Haha
Disclaimer: I'm an android noob, and everything in this post could be wrong. I'm just trying.

I know that version of kitkat was released on June 2nd, 2014, if that helps.
I don't understand whether ALL sch-i535 after that date are blocked from rooting, or ONLY the sch-i535pp (prepaid) version. I've read conflicting things because the circumstances change over time, but the threads on forums stay the same. What was true 5 months ago might not be true anymore.
I believe (could be wrong) that every single phone that was updated after June 2nd is completely SOL and blocked from being rooted. I think Towelroot was the last thing that worked for anybody, and even that method is lost to ANYTHING with a Kernel date of June 3rd or later. Mine is July 22nd. I believe the truth is that the vast majority of people that are rooted are just not updating to KitKat because they know it will un-root them and the party is over. I think that anyone with a phone that is old but updated to kitkat can reset to factory and get back to JellyBean or whatever version they originally had that can be rooted. So that leaves a small, but growing population that just simply can't root because we have the newest galaxy S3s with late kernel dates off the shelf . It's just getting harder and harder to find exploits. They guy who wrote towelroot works for google now, finding/fixing exploits that he once used to hack phones.
Either the population will catch up with us 'un-rootables' or they will leave us behind as bigger and better things come along. The Galaxy S3 is (kind of) yesterday's problem. I'm just sayin.....
I truly hate to be the burden of bad news but I can't say I'm surprised by verizon finally locking down the S3. The contract version was rumored to have been locked down with a version past the last official OTA of 4.4.2 but it seems that the pp version was moved to 4.4.3 which in all seriousness was then locked down by big red
Going forward I'd stay away from verizon as far as phones go, the short version of this is the fact that they will try anything possible to lock down every android phone they can

Im beginning to accept this fact. You all have been great. If verizon is a bust, do you know of any prepaid phones that are easily rooted? I might sell this stupid paper weight. My goal is to be able to fully use terminal and learn the android Unix shell. These things are extremely powerful and yet we arent supposed to know or use its power..
Anyways. I don't know much about using Sims on phones because ive only owned CDMA. I don't really need a nee phone. Just somthing with 2gb of ram at least. Any suggestions or experiencs?

How about someone looks for the 4.3 kernel for this phone, flashes it through ODIN, root with towelroot, and goes back to the new kernel with root! That's what they did with the AT&T Galaxy S5, and it should work and Verizon devices too.

I doubt that'll happen, since the AT&T and Verizon S5 and many other devices have been rooted with downgrading the kernel. Either way though, IDK if it'll even work, sknce it sounds impossible to boot a JB kernel on a KK platform. Has anyone tried Cydia Impactor on this device?

I honestly think we're screwed guys. I'm not lying, I've tried 6 OR MORE DIFFERENT METHODS to root!!!!! The kernel probably denies any file by the name of "su" or any file in general to be pushed from adb to the /system partition or any root partition. Let's just quit and leave it to Chainfire lol

I want to root this phone too. The kingroot 4.1 do not work phone just reboot.

any working root method for the note?

hello,
apologizes for making a thread for this if its already been answered however just wondering if there is any working root method for the n910v? i see quite a few seeing that it has to be the dev edition. so im curious, is there any working instructions for unlocking the bootloader? since it being locked is the reason for lack of root access...thanks in advance and also another quick question is, are there any good roms for the verizon s3? want to install something else on it. again thanks
Friend, just a brief scan will tell you that the answer to your question is no. There is no bootloader unlock for the Verizon Note 4 n910v. Allegedly devs are working on something, but given that it's been out for over a year and nothing has happened yet, I would wager that we will never see it happen in our lifetime. It took me a while, but I've learned to live without rooting my Note 4.
I'm still within the 14 days to return or exchange my Note 4, but I've made the decision to keep it, even though it might never get root, and I've rooted everything I've had. Once I made the decision to buy the unlock code for FoxFi, it made the decision easier, considering all I really needed root for was the tether feature. If for some reason FoxFi stops working again, I can always use my S4 for the same purpose. Do I wish I could get rid of the ads in some of my apps, sure, but they're apps that I can always find better versions of. Plus, if I really need more room for games and such, I can use my Tab 3 that is rooted.
I personally think that the Note 4 without root, with Nova launcher Prime is an awesome phone that I will keep till it dies! My phone kicks butt, better than any of my previous phones!

Are you running on 4.4.4?
no root is very, very unpleasant. for example, i can't pull my authenticator credentials. worst, i can't secure the device. vz can pull anything on me, which means i am vulnerable to social and financial loss.
Personally, I USE ADW Launcher EX.
Root would be great for themed OS'S and getting rid bloatware.

Hello all! I've just purchased a s6 edge plus from T-Mobile. I've been with Apple for the past few years and I wanted something refreshing. So I want to know is there a root for the phone with me just having an ota upgrade(5.1.1) ?? Will it trip the Knox counter and what features do or don't work when you root it? Again I'm just looking for a quick rundown for rooting as I have been out of the Android game for a couple years. Ok thanks for your help

Yes there is root, and you will trip knox if you decide to root, however tripping knox
has nothing to do with the phones performance, speed or compatiblity.
Also tmobile will not check to see if knox has been tripped in case you need to
return the phone for exchange or warranty.
If anything rooting will enhance the features and there will be more applications, utilities
and other stuff which only work if the phone is rooted.
You will not loose any existing features or options by rooting the phone.
If you done an OTA update to 5.1.1 that's great, the rooting method for these
new phones work just fine whether the phone has the original firmware or
the updated 5.1.1 firmware installed.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I haven't rooted my S6 Edge+ because I like Samsung Pay too much.

Samsung Pay is nothing like apple pay or even android pay, it works everywhere and very reliably. The only drawback is that only a few financial companies are on board at this time. However, I do not carry a wallet at all anymore which is a great plus in my life. Now if only my car would not require a key I would be totally free to only have to remember my phone when going anywhere.

Samsung Galaxy A71 or OnePlus Nord?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A71, it's great and I love it but OnePlus Nord is coming out next month and it costs less than A71. Should I sell my device and get OnePlus Nord? I'll be getting more RAM, storage, 90Hz display and 5G.

One Plus Nord around 500€

Why buying an other phone if you "love it" as you say,?
I mean, what features will the other have more (and are you going to use them! ) other than A71?
I came from a 2014 SM-G901F (galaxy S5+) and used Lineage OS on it since 2017 till last month the old microphone gave up, so now i have the A71, i think its great. Also i see developers working on Lineage for this phone already, soon it will be Official downloadable, than tou get ris of all samsung crap too.

And you'll void your Knox for it, so you can kiss good bye to any insurance/warranty you might have, it's not reversible either.
I'm after performance, and I personally think OnePlus Nord will be able to give out performance more than the A71, specially with the upgraded processor.

Thats the biggest b.s.i ever heard.
Tripping knox is just tripping it, all things still work except OTA and SAFE MAP and other Samsung pre-installed crap wich you should not use anyway...
If there is a new firmware you flash it in Odin an life goes on as normal.
Don't tell me anything else, im flashing an tripping and knox and root for myself and many other people for years on different Samsung models, never had any problem.
You must have read something of somebody not following the right steps or screwed up other way, and left with a bricked phone.
And even bricked phones don't really exist. In the right hands of somebody knowing what he is doing, all magic comes alive and you have your phone back working.

I'm very experienced when it comes to flashing, rooting and modding in general. I've been doing this for over 10 years so bricking isn't with me. The only thing I'm afraid is for the phone to be marked as "not legit" in the eyes of Samsung or my insurance company this denying me all kinds of warranty/replacement.
Not to mention if I DO decide to sell my device later on, the person who'll buy it will most likely use the Samsung services which won't work after Knox being tripped.
Since you already tripped yours, maybe you can give me a list of what works and what doesn't.

I am also very experienced when it comes to the row of things you mention, that makes it even more hilarious what you wrote before, the thing knox_thing.
Since you are very experienced in the row of things you just mentioned, im not going to put any effort in the list you want me to make, you already know that, dont you? If not, you look in the thread A71 rooting or installing Lineage, there you'll learn.
But you are going to sell it anyway, so why bother.
I leave this thread now, wishing you happy selling.

I'm considering it, doesn't mean I will. No need to have that kind of attitude towards me, why so defensive?
I've been modifying Samsung phones before Knox, the old flash counter thing which was easily reset. I *want" to install Lineage and then move on to a better ROM but I don't want to get back to stock and find out half the system's services don't work. So I kinda want a word from someone who already did it and can explain how it all went but don't worry, hopefully you're not the only one who has modified the A71, I can ask someone else.

Yup, you guessed it.
Edit: Mods, do you think you can take a look at this?
I'm noticing that the posting in this thread is becoming more and more aggressive. Everyone please calm down and only post if you've got something productive to add to the topic at hand.
No cleaning of the thread has been done this time, but that doesn't mean I won't come back and take actions if things keep escalating (suddenly I feel like a parent of small bickering children, shouting from the other room: "don't make me come in there").
Have a good day everyone.

Adttitude? Me? Defensive? lol
Im just posting on things you write. If you can't stand comment, don't post.
Once you are on lineage, you will never get the Samsung **** working again, since you tripped knox.
Stick to your plan, sell it and forget all about it or ask / search in the other threads i mentioned before.
For me, this conversation finish here today, i disable subscription so i give you my best wishes. Bye
Without a doubt Oneplus Nord is the champ
A71's cameras are better than the Nord, and it has a bigger battery. So if you're after camera quality and phone battery life the A71 wins. If you want 90 Hz and faster charging (25W vs 30W) the Nord wins. If you want a pill-shaped hole on your screen, go for the Nord, if not go Samsung. If you don't want to support China go Samsung (ended phone production in 2019), if you don't care for that go for the Nord.
The 765G and 730G chips differences are meh (My unit comes with the 730G variant with 8 GB ram) so not really an upgrade in real life and even gaming.
In the end, it's up to what your priorities are. Choose what makes you happy.
I live in Peru, Oneplus nord won't come officially, but you can get it for arround 630 Usd, the A71 is arround 480 usd, also, people is almost ignoring samsung devices here, most people love xiaomi like they never before, you can get a mi note 10 lite for arround 400, with almost the same features as the samsung a71
Nord doesn't have a dedicated MicroSD slot. To me, that alone makes the A71 the winner. There is also the atrocious OnePlus (lack of) warranty, the OxygenOS bugs and whatnot. You need to root for call record on OnePlus too. It's just all kinda meh. If it'd be at least on par with the A71 (microSD slot), I'd say go for it. But this way? I don't know.
Also, not every 1+ devices are well supported in terms of XDA development. For example, the 7T barely received any development.
Ps.: I'm not trying to hate on OnePlus. But honestly, the current range is pretty meh. There is the 7T. No development. The 8. Has curved edge, costs almost as much as the 8 Pro. So you might as well just buy the 8 Pro. But it has black crush issue, burn in problems and so many other problems. And it costs 1000$ - and some more. I don't know man.
