keeps asking me to save caller - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is driving me nuts as i work with this phone and receive ten's of calls from different numbers each day.
The phone app (i think) keeps asking me in the notification area after calls "Know xxx-xxxxxxx?" save this caller to phone book or something similar. Its a yellow base color notification..
Any idea how to kill this "feature" ?

That isn't the stock phone app. You have another one that is causing this off behavior. When the notification comes up next time long press the notification. A new menu will appear and the name of the app will show at the top. You can then try and turn off the feature in that apps settings or from the menu that appears after long pressing the notification. Turning it off in the apps settings would be a better solution though.

You must deal with shady people. I'm pretty sure that means others have flagged the numbers as spam.
To stop the message turn off Caller ID and Spam.

Really? I think you should reread the notification in the screenshot you posted. It clearly says "spam" in it.

[Q] Can anyone replicate this Jelly Bean bug?

If you send multiple messages in a short time (It happened when I sent four real quick to my own number after texting two people for about an hour), there is a system notification that pops up and says "Messaging is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages?" along with an Allow or Deny option. I haven't tried to deny, but is anyone able to replicate this?
It is not a bug.
Its a security feature to stop malware sending expensive texts from your phone.

mine is doing the same.. how can we turn it off?
Don't know.. Annyoing though...

Next thing you know, you won't be able to load web pages too quickly. You know, security feature.
Hopefully this is a bug.
Otherwise... Damnnnn this update is amazing!
guys this is not a bug but hopefully a feature to stop drunk texting
but drunk texting is fun!
Its a feature to stop apps from sending tons of SMS in the background without your knowledge.
It's better than a malware sending thousand of texts using your phone.
i would think.. if the messaging app IS OPEN AND UP.. then.. its not malware.. just saying

Uhmmm that's data usage, and there is a feature so you don't use too much in 4.x+.
This wasn't just in JB btw, also in GB if I remember. Use an SMS bomber to piss my friend off after he called me for like an hour straight.
The difference was that I got that message after 50+ sent texts, not 4 as you get.

I agree this is annoying. Hope someone finds a way do disable it.
Fix for SMS Limit
Google the following
:
bamfsmsfix-aosp-keysapk
This fixed it for me.

texting isn't data
Of course it's not a bug. Would be a very smart and fuctional bug in that case. A wanted bug (for me) for obvious reasons. Didn't even know we had that feature. Would be nice to be able to turn it off at will though.

He wasn't talking about texting. It was pretty clear that it was the sarcastic message that he quoted regarding web page loading that was being addressed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Use this app. It will raise the amount of texts allowed per half hour to 500 instead of 30.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831289
~~~~There is no spoon~~~~
This will help... go to setting security on the bottom text message limited in 15 min... raise it to 1500 .. and it will be fine
what is "setting security" that you mean? can give me a screenshoot?
Autoreply calls !!
Hello everyone
My note 2 auto replies the incoming calls. The first time happened I thought someone has answered the call while I was away. The second time I was there & it spontaneously answered the incoming call.
Both times the phone was on both ringing & vibration.
Is there any fix or explanation to this problem?
Check your settings to see if answer by voice is enabled.
Do this by launching the stock 'Music Player' app. Then drag down the notification bar. Select the music player notification
Thnx for your help ... I've checked both points you've mentioned and they are disabled.
It occurred again today while I was in the car. The phone just auto answered again !! Later I made an experiment, I called my cell phone from another phone and while i was holding it in my hand it also auto answered !!!!!
Should I update the software? or this is a technical problem??
[Q] Beanflinger???
Does the beanflinger easter egg work on the Verizon HTC One? I've tried tapping the 4.2.2 but nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running stock
Verizon takes the fun out of everything so I wouldn't be surprised if it's disabled.
yea it seems they def did.
Typical.
Can't get beans to show but we able to enable the developer options by clicking build number. Not all that handy but hey it worked.
I love turning animations off. Makes the phone feel even snappier!
I don't mean to hijack your thread but I hate creating new threads for simple questions...
When you guys press the power button and it goes to the lock screen, your status/notification bar is transparent, correct? However, when you slide to unlock, does your guys status bar go black for a quick second and then back to transparent?
mine does
Opened the framework file and it appears that the png is still there for the Bean Flinger. However from reading around the ability to activate the feature is removed by HTC on Sense 5 phones/roms, I have not seen this confirmed by anyone actually from HTC though.
At least the op said beanflinger and not bean flicking. You all know that's a syndrome nowadays right?
[Q] Alarm notification in top bar
Hi,
I use the standard alarm on my Galaxy S3 to wake me up in the morning.
When it goes off I usually just press a button on the side to turn it off. Since a few days, after I've done this there is a notification in the top bar, and a message when I swipe it down. (see screenshot below ) The message reads (mine is in Dutch): "Alarm - You can stop alarms or put them in hiberna.." where I suppose the rest would be "...te by going into settings.." or something.
The annoying thing is this message is a permanent notification and it isn't possible to swipe the message away or I haven't found a way to turn it off. The only way is to reboot the device. Not too much trouble, but kinda trivial to have to do this every day just to get rid of a notification
The phone just recently started doing this, so I'm guessing it came in with a recent update or something.
Any help would be appreciated!
Dries
Thank you for the reply!
It won't let me uncheck the box, but you did gave me a way to get rid of the notification; as I can "force close" the app. I then have to remember to start it back up, otherwise I won't wake up on time the next day
If there's any more help, I'd be glad to hear it!
I honestly think the best solution is to find a better app. I'd recommend Alarm Clock Plus. There's a free version you can try.
I just installed it. Thanks for the help!
I've never seen this one before.
I would clear data for it and see if it continues, but it looks like you installed another alarm app. I personally am using Timely now. I like the compatibility between TW and AOSP ROMs, the syncing feature, etc.
I would freeze the stock clock app if you're not using it anymore. Wakelocks you don't need.
rolling back to 4.4 w1
Hello all, I recently updated my watch to 4.4 W2 and my favorite feature, to be able to look at my watch and see a reminder/notification at the bottom of my watch face, is there any way to turn the feature back on or roll back to 4.4 W1? Thanks
I thought there was a setting to always show the notification. I personally dislike it. I disliked that I played music and the music card blocked my time.
I agree, there are definitely some times that I wish the notification bar wasnt there but for example, I had a reminder set for 1 oclock today and I didnt see because I didnt scroll through my notifications. (And I must have just not felt the vibration) I think that if motorola is going to push a update like this they should make a setting somewhere to allow that notification card to show up @ lock screen
