Help with Disabling Apps - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

I bought the EZ Disabler and just wondering what people who know what they are doing are disabling with their Apps. I dont have any of the S Health or S Gear stuff. Basically use my phone for Browsing, Emails, FB/Messenger/Snapchat etc. Trying to justify keeping this phone over my Nexus 6P before Friday because to me it isnt getting any better of a battery life and isnt any faster than that is (Rooted on Pure Nexus Rom). Any help on what you guys are doing would be great. I'm only getting like 4 hours of SOT which doesnt seem amazing to me for a new device like this.

I am in the exact same boat, I don't have a 6P but I am seriously considering getting one because this battery life is totally unacceptable on a 850 dollar phone.

Yeah I brought my N7 back today... i did everything i could to try putting up with the stuff I didnt like and tried to figure out alternatives but just couldnt justify spending 850 on a phone that didnt blow me away. Back to the 6P until specs coming out for V20 or Marlin I guess...

Hey Gilly,
Can i ask how is the battery life on the 6P? Would you recommend it still to someone?

Sorry, forgot to come back to this thread. I get through the day no problem with it and I love it but I just recently built a new home, rambler with 9' basement, and I need a phone that Verizon supports for the wifi calling. Only reason I am really even getting rid of the 6P

[Q] HTC EVO Worth it?

Hey there guys, my contract with sprint is up in month or so. I'm rocking a HTC HERO running, Darch 2.7 kangslayer. Using Launcher pro as my home replacement...over clocked to 710 mhz, and im getting about a day and a half of battery on the thing [now about 10% battery], with moderate to heavy usage. Linpack says a little over 5mflops in under a second too.
I've heard things about the evo that have made me hesitant... How is the battery life.... and how easy is the rooting process...because I dont want to have to purchase multiple batteries and all that. Thanks.

Having owned an evo for 2 months now I would buy it again in a heartbeat, battery life can be a problem though, it just depends on the phone I think. I can get 24+ hrs of idle but I don't go somewhere think OH NOEZ MY PHONE MIGHT DIE. I can usually get 8+ hrs of moderate usage, though heavy usage(playing games, having the screen on for awhile) will send my evo to a very early death.
Rooting is really simple, there's multiple guides out there. The fact that you have rooted an HTC/Android phone before will help.
[A] Yes

Had a stock hero and it was nice...but my EVO is a beast on stock to stock comparison. A tweaked hero may be all u need...unless of course u ditched your laptop like me
I plan to maybe use the evo for SMSing, light internet browsing, and phone calls.... nothing more then that really. would battery life be a problem honestly?
I don't think the battery life would be a problem with a more efficient ROM. I've been using CM6 and I get plenty of battery life...
I say yes. It is worth it.
Cyanogen Mod Is for the EVO as well now @[email protected]?
Where the heck have I been? I would assume having no Sense UI overlay really helps the battery life.
My wife got a Hero when I got my Evo, and looking at her screen just hurts my eyes now. You can't go back when you go with the 4.3" display. Fair warning. I charge my phone every other night with normal usage.

Would be a double yes.
Am loving this phone, was new to Android and it seemed more daunting than it really is.
I just jumped to two EVOs. I'm really nervous about it, hoping I like it. My wife has never had a smart phone so dropping $200 on a phone for her was a little scary. I'm currently using an HTC Touch Vogue hacked that's running android, so I know a lot of the ropes and what's going on...
I really wanted to wait for the Epic, but I'm tired or waiting, and I don't need a hardware keyboard... but that processor on that phone seems amazing... I'm not even really that hyped on it's screen, because of the poor resolution...
Anyway. Hoping I don't regret my purchase and think, 'Wish I had gotten an Epic', or 'Wish I had just gotten my wife an Intercept'.
You guys will love em!
I know a few people that really max out their phone usage and they love it. I know a few minimal users who dabble in "crazy **** once in a while" as well and they still love it. It's a great phone all around. The battery life is what you make it, and as stated, there are ways you can really get more "appropriate" battery life out of it.
Great device.
My wife got it as sort of a 'child' occupier for when she needs to do things and needs a way to keep our daughter entertained... She wanted an iPhone, but I talked her into a android (and there was no way I was going to AT&T), so if you have any kid education games and other misc recommendations, let me know.
Ahh, foreign territory. I know some folks put shows and what not on their phones, media to entertain and what have you, with the little ones, but I couldn't really help. There has to be plenty of options though.

Going back to my iPhone 4s

To begin, I want to say that I am not an Apple Fanboy or a mindless lemming for anything with an Apple logo. I've had many droid phones in the past. I just wanted to give my personal opinion between both phones and explain my personal reasons for dropping my GN and going back to my iPhone 4s.
I know that some people don't use the camera on their phone, but I have a 6 year old daughter. I use my camera quite a bit so it's important too me. I am not hung up on specs so the 5 mp camera didn't scare me. In the end it's all about what the pics look like. In perfect lighting situations the camera is pretty good. But we all know that most pictures aren't shot in perfect lighting conditions. For one week every time I took a pic with my GN I also shot one with my iPhone. Overall the iPhone pics were better. They were sharper, colors were more accurate and overall looked closer to what I was shooting. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the GN is as horrible as most posts say, I'm just saying for my personal use it's quite a bit below the iPhone's camera for the situations I am in and use my camera for. Don't tell me that it's just a camera phone and I shouldn't be that picky. You can't deny that they skimped on the camera. It's not nearly as good as most current phones. I would have been happy with the same camera from the Galaxy SII, but it's not even that good.
Battery use is another reason. I realize that it's a bigger screen, faster processor etc. so it's not going to be in the same ballpark as my iPhone. However I had 4g turned off and brightness turned down to 40% and it was still horrendous. Now before you jump on my, i did root my phone and had a rom/kernel installed. No difference! I would lose 10% of my battery for every 10 minutes of on-screen time. I was averaging 1.5 hours of on-screen time before my battery died. This is something I monitored very closely.
Also, for full disclosure, my iPhone is jailbroken so I have several widgets that refresh every 15 minutes going and the on-screen time is well over 10 hours!
The screen is nice, and while it's probably the best of the droid phones, it's not better than the iPhone's. Now you can say that it's personal preference so here's what I did. I took a pic with my iPhone and sent it to my GN. I opened the pic on both phones and set them side by side. The iPhone was sharper and more realistic in each case. I also took a pic with my GN and then sent it to my iPhone for a comparison. Same result.
I really wish that those factors weren't a dealbreaker for me because otherwise it is an awesome phone! The speaker was loud, signal was strong, didn't have any rebooting issues - all of which are being reported all over the forums. It's easily the best droid phone but just not on the same level as my iPhone. Like I said my iPhone is jailbroken so I'm able to pretty much do anything that you can with the GN!
And don't tell me that the iPhone sucks and needs to be jailbroken because the same argument can be made for the GN. The reason people root and install custom rom's/kernels is because they want a different experience/performance that what they get out of the box.
Again, this post was to give an honest user experience of why I am going back to my iPhone based on how I use my phone.
Camera quality improved quite a bit in 4.0.4. Did you use this update?
Oh noooo please dont go please dont leave us!!!
I have not updated to 4.0.4. I checked and wasn't able to update to it. The rom I was using was 4.0.4 based.
Can I update somehow even if I haven't gotten the message yet?
These threads should be auto-deleted.
That's odd I have galaxy nexus lte with the 2100 battery and honestly I have no complaints about battery life I use my GPS twice a day for about an hour and half both ways and many emails and phone calls also including all the junk I look up on the internet and I still go to bed with atleast 20 percent left... all stock. The camera I can agree on wtf were they thinking. To hell with shutter speed I want quality not quantity

If you are on a custom ROM, you probably won't get the message and even if you do, you wouldn't be able to update OTA unless you reverted to stock.

Without starting a pointless flame war, this is not typical of general nexus users. You have something draining your battery. Honestly, don't let this put you off. Do some digging and see what is killing your battery and then decide. Something is amiss.

I've looked at all running apps etc. Nothing out of the ordinary that would cause the battery to drain that quick. And this was with 4g off and on wifi.

While I concur that the camera is not as good as the iPhone’s—Google and Samsung failed here—I don’t know how you did this. With stock 4.0.4 I get 3.5-4 hours of screen time consistently and plenty of battery to spare, and I don’t do anything special to get it. That said, you’d have to pay me, and pay me well, to force me to use an iPhone daily.
Wtf did I just read.. retina is better than super amoled HD ? So you're telling me you can see the 20 pixels ? The experience on the nexus is much better.. iPhone is for dumb people, no offense, not to say that iPhone looks way too familiar now, and its build quality is ****, the nexus is better in everything except camera where the iPhone slightly edges the nexus
You should get an award for being the blindest person alive

I would agree with you on the camera bit. The camera on my old iPhone 4 was far superior than my Galaxy Nexus. With the GN you really need a steady hand to get a proper shot. I haven't got the 404 update yet so I'm hoping that this will be fixed.
Well sounds like you don't have enough time to tailor Android to your liking, ****ty deal. IPhone will be perfect for you then.

I manage to get 3 hours at least on a normal day, even with wifi only half of that. Get betterbatterystats from here on xda and see what (if anything) is keeping your phone awake. Seriously, something is not right. Maybe something as simple as a ROM/Kernel combo. Try a few different ones and see how you fare.

All respect is lost.
Would you mind posting up a couple of the shots to see the comparison between the 2 phones??
Any rom/kernel suggestions? I'm open to trying something that might help me.
BTW, for all the people calling me dumb, stupid and saying I need to go to an iPhone, you're just proving your fanboys! Instead of helping me or offering suggestions it's easier just to criticize.
Thank you to the posts from members who are actually trying to help!

So you post an asshole comment right back, a lot of times people see problems because of user error.
Go back to your Apple world, enjoy the limitations and enjoy not being able to customize to it's full extent. You can say that you can do anything with your iPhone4S but at the end of the day that is just not true. Jailbroken or not.
Again, go, have fun, no skin off any of our backs and now we have one less hostile person to worry about.

Battery drainage

my phone is a verizon, never had a phone die while being charged.
here's my two cents, i switched from sprint to pre paid tmobile. I honastly believe GSM phones handle lower signal better than CDMA phones, I do not know if this is fact but it seems true to me. With my sprint phone at work(constantly one -two bars) battery would drain by lunch, on the other hand my gsm galaxy nexus( which only gets edge inside) would last the day and with moderate usage as a mp3 player.
Take my gf's sprint iphone she gets only 1x at work and her mighty iphone needed the case with the battery to get through the day, while her friends AT&T iphone rock solid

Yeah and isn't it smart to just change your battery for a larger 1 or get another battery? But keep all the great things about being pure google? Lol change the best phone for any other crap just cuz the battery (wich in my case i do just like any other phone cuz I put time to get things to work) its just not the right thing to do.

Should I get the int Hox? Coming from AT&T Hox

Hey all.
I've been an AT&T Hox owner since day one and I've really enjoyed this device. Battery life is insanely good, consistently getting over 24 hours usage and 5 hours on screen time. I am uprooted and on the stock rom.
I've been thinking about getting the int Hox because it seems to be getting a lot of updates and has a lot of developer support. HTC and AT&T aren't saying anything about the customs issue which is undoubtedly affecting sales. Rumors even have it that AT&T may stop selling the phone altogether. If that's true then I pretty much have a dead phone, especially since this variant is NOT the One XL int model.
I am not willing to give up the amazing battery life at the cost of benchmark scores. My phone is a tool and I need it to last a long time. What are typical battery stats of the int Hox out of the box? I also don't want to root and flash all kinds of roms until I get good battery life. Thanks for the help.

There are plenty of threads regarding battery life. I'll be getting my International ONE X by Friday, I'll give you stats then. I'll be using it on Red Pocket (AT&T MVNO)

I'm not willing to give up the good battery life though. On the int Hox it seems to vary greatly from device to device. But even on HSPA+ its not as good as the LTE model.

The international One X would not have LTE if used on AT&T, right?
And it would have significantly worse battery life b/c it uses Tegra 3?
Would the custom ROMs available on the international One X make the battery life equivalent to the at&t model which uses the S4?

No on the LTE, but I have no idea when LTE is coming here anyway
Battery life is important, but I am not away from chargers long enough to worry about it.
I like the 32 GB of storage vs 16 and the unlocked bootloader and the development that is in place here.
I'm the other way around, I had the Tegra3 HOX 2 weeks ago because I didn't want to wait anymore, but I was waiting for the S4 version to come

There are plenty of threads regarding battery life. I'll be getting my International ONE X by Friday, I'll give you stats then. I'll be using it on Red Pocket (AT&T MVNO)

I have what you're going to get. battery life is awesome, and everything is good. I just dont like the 2GB data cap on redpocket, but will be switching to straight talk unlimited everything for $45. dont go with redpocket, go with straight talk
I've had my HOX international for a couple weeks but didn't stay stock long enough to tell you how your battery life would be. On ARHD 6.0.0 with faux123 002b3 kernel, I am typically seeing 15-18 hours with around 2.5hrs screen time, 2-3hrs playing MP3, 15 min fetch email on 3 accounts, 100 text, 20 min talk, and a little browsing. Meets my needs just fine and the 26gb available vs 9gb on the HOXL really makes the HOX the more prudent device to own. It's just going to get better as software updates and development continues.
The only negatives for the International version are the battery life and no LTE. For me, I don't care about the LTE, and hopefully the rom dev's can do some improvements to the battery life (especially when using the camera).
The advantages of the International version are the 32gb, the speed and it's not limited by US carriers.
However, honestly I don't think either is that much better to switch from one to the other. There are positives and negatives of both and the negatives can circumvented other ways (power packs, cloud storage, portable wifi storage (whatever that thing is called), etc.).
I do have a great idea for the power problem... make a holster that has a usb input outside with the pushpin connectors (whatever they're called) inside. You plug a power pack into the holster and put it in your pocket... then every time you holster it, it'll charge the phone. Another option would be a slightly bigger holster that has its own power pack. You'd have to do some slightly tricky curve around the bottom for the pushpins because you wouldn't want the phone screen facing out, but it looks doable.
Wow im in the same boat as you guys pretty much lol, i just ordered the international version because i was tired of the almost no dev support on the phone (one xl), plus the 16gb storage with only like 8gb usable was getting to me ...
im a bit nervous for battery life thats it, because the one xl did have amazing battery life. best ive ever seen on a phone and the reports on this tegra 3 seem conflicting.
oh well, hoping for the best!
You can always carry a 10000mah external power pack for $50.
You can't add 16gb or turn a dual-core into a quad-core.
I had the AT&T HOX and was pretty unhappy with it. The SMS bug was annoying and there were a few other things.
Since picking up the International version, I have been much happier. I don't know what it is, but it just seems better. As to battery life: I have been pleasantly surprised. My experience is that the Int version does better when idling. So, all that time it's in your pocket, it's using no juice. That's kind of nice. It means when you pull it out of your pocket, there are no surprises. It pretty much has as much juice as it had when you put it away.
With a few hours of screen time, I'm still getting around 14 hours off the charger.
My battery life is awesome. I get a full day with good usage on my part.

Straight talk throttles at 2GB. Good luck getting "unlimited".

It depends on what you're running. I ran it a day with really no apps on stock and the battery seemed great. After moving to a custom rom and installing all the apps, not so much. I run a number of apps that do polling or transferring of data, which I assume is why there are always a big discrepancy in battery reports. For instance, i run touchdown which is constantly polling my work email (and I get a lot of work email), dropbox which syncs my pictures, an IM client or two (depending on what i'm doing at the time work/etc), etc. Of course, I could not run those apps and get better battery life, but then, I could also go back to using a blackberry if I want to do nothing with my phone. From what I see on the forums, this phone does seem to do better with media and 'on demand' functionality, I think its just people who run a lot of background processes that experience the battery issue. Don't get me wrong, it's not an issue with this phone in particular, but rather battery technology. I've just changed my habits from carrying a couple extra batteries to a portable battery charger. Though, the batteries were a little easier to deal with, but whatever.

I honestly don't use the web that much. At work I'm on WiFi and also at home. Only place my data gets used is my gfs house, and even then I'm too busy to use the phone because of sexy Time purposes lol
I'd rather be throttled then cutoff like I would be with red pocket

Terrible battery life?

Does any one else get terrible battery life on their Note 7? I get on average 10-13 hrs of battery life, with around 3-4 hours of SOT. I noticed that my android os and android system are usually running around 20 and 30 percent respectively. If you guys have any thoughts or are experiencing similar results any advice would help. Thanks.

Yeah I am getting this too
I'm also getting this. It's incredibly frustrating as I've tried disabling everything and we can't figure out why
since last week i been getting the same and i'm pretty sure its an app that i d/l'ed bc i added a couple since then...
If you use Maps it drains a crap ton, which I think there is something wrong with it on Note 7.
I called Verizon and they are going to send me a replacement device since this is still under my 14 day return window. Hopefully that may change things but who knows. They also mentioned something about having occulus apps installed will drain battery but I don't have any of that. My old Note 4 was great and this Note 7 is fantastic but does not live up to the "Note" standard of battery life I've come to know and love.
That sucks guys I'm getting 6 to 6 and half hours of screen on time and I'm beyond surprised @ how incredible this battery is..
Ditto. 6 plus everyday. Actually better than my first.

Everytime I try to call them and ask for a replacement they always tell me to go to the store so I can get a brand new device instead of a certified like new. ?

Screen on time may not be a great way to judge battery life. You need a breakdown of everything using the battery. Different apps will use different amounts of battery and even the same apps like chrome will be different person to person cause of browsing habits. It all depends what you do on your phone.

Would you mind sharing a couple things like screen brightness, if you use maps, what services are on, if you listen to music, and how much of a power user you are? I am also getting around 3-4 hours of screen on time and would love to get 6.
Thanks
Same for me battery life ia horrible. And the phone is slow
With Bluetooth (fit2) and locations On and brightness on auto, wifi on, sound on vibrate, did some YouTube, Facebook, Instagram. My battery is doing much better than original so far.
Replaced my 7 with the 5.. And getting good battery life so far. This is just another option for those that may still need the pen..
From note 5.. rip note 7

Impressive. I didn't know the note 5 got that much screen on time. I range anywhere from 6-9 on my note 7. Does the note 5 feel that much diff than the 7? I'm going to guess it doesn't have the always on screen. I've really become used to that.

Actually, it's not that bad.. I didn't know it was possible either to be honest.. I just set it up like the 7, and this is what I received.. The battery life is so far seeming to be much like the note 7 for me.
It feels a little heavier in the hand, and wider.. It doesn't give that "ultimate" comfort in the hand like the 7 did, but it's surprisingly comfortable.. Much more so than I thought..
And lol, yes, it actually does have the always on display. It received it in the marshmallow update.. To be honest, from what I can tell so far, the only things major it does not have, are, of course micro slot(this one sucks, but there are tiny micro usb adapters for cheap), the iris scanner(i actually loved this, but oh well), the GIF feature of screen capture(i hope they incorporate that, at some point), and that's pretty much it.. Oh, and of course the edge and no secure folder. But I'm hoping, because of this fiasco, they will roll some of the software features from the 7 to the 5, like the GIF and secure folder.. Not to mention, bring back the eraser function of the pen like it originally was on the notes, and that they incorporated into the 7.
There are indeed a few sacrifices to it that I've discovered in my first couple days of owning it. But nothing that would make me want to go to a non pen s7 or edge.. It even has the pro camera features.. So I'm pretty good and settled actually with it.. I've got my gear 2 paired with it, and functioning normally, all my s notes.. And it's cheaper than the 7.. Now I'm not going to hardly say it's a 7, but at this point, we don't have a choice(unless your going to just try to hold on to your 7 for dear life)..
But it's a very decent alternative to be honest.. It really is..
From note 5.. rip note 7
