EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Does the note 7 use EIS? I cant find an option to disable it in the camera-settings and it feels wobbly some times.
Any infos on that? S7 and edge had the option to turn it off in the settings.

So does the S7 / edge, but they have EIS on top of that. Just wondering if its the same here, and if so is there a way to disable it?

Unlock longer shutter speeds

Hello everyone,
Long story short, just bought nexus 5x, I have developed a few kernels in past for various devices, and I am little bit disappointed with n5x camera.
Phone does make awesome pictures, but it lacks longer shutter speeds, I would like to unlock it. Some people say that it is hardware limited, some that software, so here I am asking you how is it for real, and please, answer with any arguments, proofs, I would like to avoid guessing.
I would like to know if there is any sense in trying to unlock it and digging through source code.
Cheers
I managed to take photos with 1 s shutter speed with L Camera.

How did you do it? I could only select 1/6s as the slowest shutter speed.

Most probably fake Bulb mode, which is as stated by app creator - fake. Just multiple 1/6s pictures stacked up together

L Camera. And no, no fake, because I used to edit the DNG file in Photoshop.

Nexus 5 hardware is capable of capturing photos at 0.86s shutter speed (5x probably too). And this app uses this capability.
1 fps preview confirms this.

Huh, the older version of L Camera does indeed allow you to select 1/1,2 exposure and in the exif it's shown as 1s.

This one https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/releases/download/v0.3/lcamera-debug.apk. The newest dev-build only allowed down to 1/6s.
Thank a lot.
Now I hope that will be possible to implement this feaute on other (more advanced) camera apps (fv5,proshot,....)

It does work, I will have a look at it
I confirm the with L-Camere 0.3 is possible to have a shutter time of 1s (if I select 1/1,2) and the night photos are incredible
I asked to ProShot developer if is possible to implement this feature on his great app. I hope that is possible....
Looks like HTC 10 has same camera sensor and it's camera app allows to use 2s shutter speed, unfortunately, none of htc camera app versions let's me go manual on our nexus.
Also Xiaomi YI 2 action camera has it, and it allows up to 30s while taking pics. So i guess I/we would have to edit camera libs. I also emailed lcamera creator but I don;t think that he will respond.

Hey guys, I have Nokia 8 (TA 1012) and I don't like the fact that the longest exposure time is 1/2 s. Can you help me override it? To unlock longer exposure time.

Missing features?!!

Ok seriously, there are some features mentioned about the note 8 that somehow are missing on the Verizon model. For example a good one is the wide angle shots! I mean wtf?! Pretty pisst about this one. Wonder what else is missing

What do you mean by wide angle shots? I notice we don't have swipe down for notifications. Or that rebranded system optimizer setting that's always missing. We always end up with the most locked down firmware, but I'm not aware of missing camera modes.

This is added with an update
https://www.sammobile.com/apk/touchwiz-home/samsung-touchwiz-home-6-1-58-5/

Camera takes 3000*4000 resolution images instead of 4000*3000px.

Can anyone verify this?

Are you seriously asking this? Have you tried using landscape/portrait orientations and checking the differences between them?

It only takes 4000*3000px in landscape mode where as my redmi note 7 pro takes 4000*3000 in both modes. That's my doubt.

Instagram Mode in Camera App?

I have used S20 plus and prebooked a S20 Ultra but there seems no Instagram mode in camera which was really helpful in recording with HDR,onehand, all lenses on Galaxy S10.Is samsung going to add it or is it coming anytime soon?
I've heard someone mention it's in the pro camera option you can drag and drop options into bottom bar

On Ultra also so I guess it's not on S20 series. Why do you want to use it? Slow wifi?
It's typical of samsung to remove features that ppl don't really use to make up space for new features. Sort of like Google labs. It is probably discontinued and removed from the newer roms.
I personally miss the old samsung camera where u can push the white shutter button up or down to zoom in or out instead of pinching the screen. I really loved that feature so I don't need to use 2 hands to take a photo.

Of course you do. Everybody knows that.
I was replying to the post saying that you can set volume buttons as a zoom control.
I don't know any way how to set it for both functions at the same time.

It's missing on the Note20 Ultra too. I asked about it on the Samsung community forums and someone suggested that it might've been removed because there is no need for it anymore with the already fast download speeds on 5G. Not sure if there's any truth to that or not.

I now have a Fold 2 and missing on there too. But after searching through some forums on samsung Community it seems that it is present in the US and is carrier dependant. Not available in UK. My previous Note 10 was also 5G but it was on there.

My Note20 Ultra is the U.S. unlocked version, so you would think that, without the influence of a carrier, that feature would've been included by default. Especially for those times when I'm not near enough to my wifi or 5G is not available. Seriously? What does Samsung care about whether or not I use WiFi and data to download things? Just think of how fast downloads would be with 5G and a strong WiFi connection too! Maybe they're afraid those speeds would blow up our devices like the Note7. [emoji1]
