Throughput on Wifi sucks - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Copying files across wifi, SMB fileshare. Note 3 - 3-5MB/sec (yes, MB, not Mbit). Note 7 - 500-700KB/sec. Both show similar wifi connection rates at 144 Mbit/sec.
Anyone else seeing crappy throughput on wifi?

No, mine is not that bad. I just did a speedtest.net on a 100 Megabit down 10 megabit up connection and got 50 megabits down (best the router will do in all honesty) and the full 10 megabits up. That roughly translates to 5 Megs a second down and 1 Up. I have read others complain about the speed though.
What app are you using to measure the speed?

I've got cox, pay for the premier package and its supposed to max out at 150mbps download and I believe 10mbps upload. Early mornings (2am or so) I see speeds on my 5ghz network (using an Arris SB 6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Modem and a ASUS RT-68P AC 1900 Wireless Router) well into the 190mbps range on my Note 7, highest I've had so far is 193mbps download. I consistently hit 10mbps upload but when it first starts out it pulls into the 25mbps range and slows down to the 10-13 mbps range upload.

Yeah lol the upload is nothing exciting, it's nice to see it jump into the 20+mbps range for about 10 seconds or so then throttle down around 10-13mbps. But I'm happy hitting over 150mbps later at night. But my Note 7 has been just as fast, if not slightly faster than my Note 4 was with throughput.

T-Mobile Network Upgrade

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but anything related to the internet is about 10 times faster today for me... I thought i had my wi-fi on until I read a post about T-Mobile's 7.2 rollout. I suggest you all check out your speeds.
Speed checked, maybe this had somethign to do with the service outtage the other night LOL
Speed Increase? Not here
I purchased my TP2 in part because T-Mobile's web site indicated full 3G coverage here in Centerville, Ohio. I've had the phone for a week now, and have YET to see the 3G connection on the phone. The E is all I ever see, and that speed has not increased since the outage.
Maybe your local tower was upgraded.

Engadget is reporting that none of their tests are showing the new speeds yet, so it does appear to be limited to certain markets at this point.
so how do i increse my network speed if i have a speed of 177 with 3g
T-mobil HSPA roll out
T-mobile has started to roll out HSPA 7.2 mb in all 3G network areas. Go to www.tmonews.com to read up on it. They are trying to get most of the network up by the end of DEC. HSPA is much faster than 3g...about 3x.
Richard
To have 177 you must have a poor RF.
Honestly, I have 5mbps over Wi-Fi and that's more than the TP2 can handle for browsing. It doesn't load pages much faster vs a good 3G signal.
well i got 544 now that i have hspa turned on
Damn, I am in seattle and I range from 500kbps to over 3kbps via mobilespeedtest.com
here in phoenix i can get 3mbps on the handset and up to 9.3mbps thering on my laptop i even started playing call of duty using ics and see little lag. i am debating on canceling my cox subscription. i noticed this the day after the data outage. i can post speed tests if you dont believe me
i shouldnt have spoke so soon i only could get a max of 8.7 just now but im only at 3 bars on h on this side of my house... ill run further tests later...
here is test on speedtest
here is test on bandwithplace
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1988 kbps (248.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

dsl reports did not work because it said m,y connection was too fast for a mobile speed test
That is very nice, considering T-Mobile had their HSPA network crippled at a 4th of that a few months ago.
Testmyiphone.com works well, but the TP2 never ever registers higher than 2.17mbps over Wi-Fi. There is a limitation or something happening there because my iPhone averages over 4mbps(Wi-Fi) on the same site/same connection. Nevertheless it's accurate - over 3G here I get about 600-700kbps so no upgrades have been put online here.

Capped 3G Download Speeds?

So my palm pre would get 800 kilobits (100 kilobytes\second) to 1 megabits (125 kilobytes\second) a second at my home which has a tower about 60 yards away.
I now get only max 500 kilobits (62.5 kilobytes\second) a second maximum, which seems rather slow....
Is there a software cap on the download speeds?
Is sprint throttling traffic?
Anyone else notice slower speeds compared to their previous devices?
I used Xtremelabs Speedtest.
Thank you.
I haven't noticed a cap, but I do notice that speed fluctuates greatly. One second I am getting 1.5 MBps and the next; close to nothing. This is all while not moving.
Of course, I know next to nothing about how cell networks work, but it is annoying especially while I am tethering.

Max data speed? Got 51Mbps tethering

Just got a blazing fast speed that makes me wonder what the max the phone is capable of.
My test was done on laptop connected to My One via Wifi tether. That was the speed from Verizon towers.

I fell like there is still some confusion. The test was performed on a laptop which was connected to the hotspot of my htc one which was on VZW network.
What is the fastest someone has seen from the towers?
Check this out. It is kind of old but I think the information is still valid.

I wish i got those speeds. I only get arround 8 mbps durring the day, and arround 28 late nights when the network is less congested. My best ever was 32.27 mbps, and that was at 3:30 in the morning.
Theoretical max speed on Verizon's 700 MHz band is 73 Mbps. The One doesn't support the new AWS band like the Galaxy S4 and G2 which can go up to 150 Mbps.
Of course, with Verizon's 4G network as crappy and overloaded as it is right now, you'd struggle to get 10.
I average about 30 in my area and I've had 56 at the highest.

I have seen high 40 to low 50 while driving through Charlotte nc when they first got lte. It's dropped drastically now. Where I live I get 8 to 15 and more than happy with that. Long as hulu and Netflix works all I need.

At my work I get 17-20 consistently. Home will bounce around between 8 and 18. Lowest I have seen without dropping to 3g was a 4 down the street, after having put a custom rom on my phone.
50ish is the most I've gotten so far.

50 was the end speed but it was spiking into 51 many times
Me still 20. Philippine's area
mine got 15-20 PH area.
me got 20-30mbps
I was at 34Mbps down and 27Mbps up in NC

I was getting 25-40 easily. Then the iPhone 5 was released. Now I only get ~ 4-5.
I've definitely seen a reduction of performance over the past year in my area. I could pull 30Mb+ even in a densely populated suburb (Philly metro), but now it struggles to hit 15Mbps in the same spot. Not that I'm complaining.
Max I've ever tested was 55Mbps in a popular mountain resort town during an off-peak season. Hopefully vzw builds out more capacity (per the link above) and keeps the speeds at a satisfactory level, but I don't expect to see 50Mbps regularly.

Slow wifi link speed

Hello! I have a LG G3 since a couple of years ago. I was only able to use its 5ghz wifi since May, because previously I had no compatible router. It was working fine, getting between 150 and 180 mbps in speedtests, with a wifi speed link of 433 mbps. Today I switched from my ISP to another. They provided me a new router, called Livebox Next. It has more or less the same wifi specs as the last one I had, it can handle up to 1300mbps in the 5ghz band with wifi AC. However, my phone is not getting anything near that. My wifi link speed is stuck at 86 mbps. I tried changing the channel of the wifi, but it has no effect. In the speedtests, I have like 10mbps of download speed and about 50-60 mbps of upload speed (weird, isn't it?).
I need your help guys. Connecting in the 2.4 ghz band I get between 30-40 mbps. The technician that installed me the router made his own speedtests in his laptop and he got 300mbps in the speedtest in the 5ghz band so I guess its not the routers fault, something is not right but I don't know what.
Regards.
I have a kind of similar problem as you with the G pad 3 8.0. I get 15-30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps download with an AC 2600 router.

Fastest WiFi speed?

Hello,
I have just switched fiber provider at my place (FTTH) and I am now getting a whopping 1000 Mbps on my connection via gigabit ethernet.
My ISPs internet "box" luckily comes with 4 gigabit ports but only 2.4 Ghz WiFi (...). Which means that what actually reaches my portable devices is somewhere between 20 to 70 mbps, depending on my location in the house.
So, I ordered a Netgear R6220 to connect to my ISPs box, whose WiFi I will disable, hoping to get the most out of my fiber connection.
I see that this router supports simultenous Dual Band (300 + 867) which should exceed my ISPs downstream bitrate. But I wonder whether the 835 on my P2XL will be able to benefit from the simultaneous Dual Band transmission.
According to the specs it should (https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-835-mobile-platform):
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi Standards: 802.11ad, 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11n
Wi-Fi Spectral Bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 60 GHz
Peak speed: 867 Mbps
Channel Utilization: 20/40/80 MHz
MIMO Configuration: 2x2 (2-stream)
Peak QAM: 256 QAM
Wi-Fi Features: MU-MIMO, Multi-gigabit Wi-Fi, Dual-band simultaneous (DBS), Integrated baseband

But since the Peak speed is listed as 867 mbps, I'm not sure...
Anyone was ever able to max out the P2XLs WiFi speed?
Thanks!
This is mine today, I have seen higher from my wifi but this is right now.
This is the best speed i got using the 2XL
1Gbit line using a Asus RT-AX88U router.

Wow, this is impressive! I didn't think our Pixels could reach that level of performance!
I guess that the bottleneck for me will still be on the router, then, since I'm not getting anything quite like yours (smaller budget).
I'm getting from Amazon an R6220 and a couple of Tp Links (archer c7 - 1750 and archer c1200), the best one gets to stay! ?
You should be able to reach decent speeds with any of those routers the only reason I bought this one is so i don't need to buy another rooter any time soon.

There you can find fast access point for low price with high quality, I use only these
