Newbie owner/questions - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hey,
Recently broke my phone and bought a Find 7 as a replacement. Hate the OS so started searching for ROMS etc. Never flashed anything or rooted anything so everything I've done so far - I've just learned.
I basically want to get as close to android 6.0 marshmallow stock as possible. Which ROM is the best for this?
So basically, I've tried to flash CM13 (latest release) which I got directly from their website, all goes well however when the phone boots the screen is blank. Volume rockers work, capacitive buttons work and haptic feed back there but screen is blank. Not sure what the problem is.
ANY help at all is appreciated.
I have the Find 7 QHD version which I think is the 7S? (X9076)
Thanks all!

1) You have to flash CWM or Twrp recovery to your phone. I recommend TWRP 3.0.2. Download it for your OPPO Find 7.
Flash it. Can be done via ADB.
2) You need micro SD card formatted by the phone! Not necessary but recommended.
2) Then download needed ROM( I like crDroid : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3171600
but it's developer left it. So no further support planned) to SD card(on PC of course).
3) Put the card into the phone.
4) On the phone: go to recovery mode. Wipe data, system, cache.
5) Install ROM from the micro SD card.
That is all. Enjoy it.

You can also check out resurrection remix rom. Find the official thread in xda for find 7. As for your screen being blank it maybe because you have a new lcd panel which the official cm rom does not support. Try flashing omni rom instead. Last nightly is from aug 30. It is very stable and very close to stock android.

Hey guys,
Many thanks for those tips (especially for the LCD patch - I'll have to try that).
So CM seems to be the best for Find7 at the moment but doesn't support unified storage? Does this mean I'll have this silly app storage limit? Anyway around it using CM?
As for the rest which is best (close to stock, stable, no bugs) -
RR
Omni
Nameless
Thanks

Omni is close to stock and very stable. RR and possibly nameless are both cm based.
Used omni for a couple of months and now using rr for the last couple of days. I would choose rr because of all the additional features.
Both are great daily drivers. Both support lvm so you can unify your storage in coloros and then flash either rom.

Hmmm,
CM thread has loads of additional things like installing some of the default apps like camera etc and how to get rid of all the bloatware.
I'll probably try nameless first since it seems to be the most popular next to CM. Its hard choosing one since theres so many! Out of Omni and RR which do you think is faster? What features does RR have that made you switch over to it?

If you truly want a stock like experience without too many features and full stability in your software then I would recommend Omni for you.
RR and DU have a lot of extra features relating to various visual effects that can be tweaked to your liking which can make your software look pretty, if you are interested in that sort of thing.
Cm is also stock like experience with some bugs here and there, nothing too big.
Nameless is based on cm with a few extra features but personally that Rom gives me bad battery life. (can be different for you)
Exodus, Mokee and Crdroid are just better alternatives to CM regarding features.
Edit: There are Roms that provide you with the option of LVM and there are those which only support stock partition. (Lvm is a way to enhance storage capacity).
Cm and a few other Cm based Roms that do not support lvm can be used with the chinese partition instead which also increases storage. But that is a bit lengthy process and for someone new like you I would recommend you to stay with a Rom like Omni which does support LVM.
Hope all this helped somehow

It seems so, but wifi is terribly slow.
It's going to be announced soon in CM's blog, but find7a and find7s are split now and get separate builds. You need to flash "find7" on find7a devices and "find7s" on find7s qhd devices. You should update the recovery too, but I think there are no recovery images available yet. I might provide some if nobody else does it.
I successfully flashed cm 12 1901 build . WiFi works normally. Fonts and icons too small
on 2.0.4
Can we flash this on color os 2.0.4 version without any issues or have to downgrade to 1.2.7

You will have to flash it over 1.2.x Color OS. I flashed 19 build over 1.2.7.
Installed without an issue.
For QHD use Find 7s version.

Anyone having problems when using unified partition layout? After I flashed the ROM the phone just tells me that there's an encryption error and I have to wipe data. I wiped data and still the same error. When I went back to previous ROM I'm using everything else is fine, except with the proximity sensor bug. Cheers

De-unify first, then flash. You need to have to revert back to 1.2.x.
Flash Open TWRP and then flash CM12 Nightlies. COs 1.2.x and CM12 do not support Unification.

Is the only way to switch between tabs the recent apps thingy? I mean I don't habe a problem but still kinda awkward not knowing where the tab went. BTW I got twrp 2.8.4 and there's always this horizontal line where the display shifts. It's like these lines on old videos that walk through the picture. Trying my best on English (I'm German )

Regarding the line in recovery, use Nameless TWRP recovery from HERE.
I have not tried the latest TWRP Open Recovery 2.8.4 for Find7, but with Nameless TWRP Recovery, I am able to use OTG in recovery. This allows me to take backups into 32gb usb drive and restore from there.
Custom Ringtones
Hello Just flashed to build 2015/01/21 and I noticed that I was unable to change my ringtone. This may seem like a trivial thing but I would just like to know if it's my device specific. Find 7a running CM12 stock kernels and all.
Edit: Turned off NuPlayer in developers options and set SELinux Kernel to Permissive.

Missing languages
In the 21/01 build, some languages are missing - texts simply do not appear and the language list is empty near the end.
EDIT:
23/01 build solves it.
EDIT2:
Gyro doesn't work, screen doesn't rotate.

CM 12.1/13 for Oppo Find 7 X9076 / new Display-Panel

I just got a Find 7(s) X9076 and wanted to install CyanogenMod.
If I take one of the official download page (which are all CM 13) the screen shows everything in wrong colors.
I think (so far I read this from the other threads) it's because of a new displaypanel.
Is there any CM that is working for this display?
What is the problem with this panel, when can I install from official CM-Page?
Best regards
gragib

Hi there! I think your best bet is to go and try omnirom either 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 whichever suits your taste.
Currently im running omnirom 6.0.1 on the new panel similar as you and it is absolutely great! I suggest that you should go and try it out.
Cheers!

Yeah.. As of right now, Maxwen omnirom 6.0.1 is the best rom for the newer type of lcd panel. Im using it as a daily driver and had not encountered any problems.
Big shoutout and cheers to Maxwen for the rom. :good:
Many THX for all replies!
I have now the omnirom 5.1.1 installed and its running very well.
New LCD + OmniRom = BSoD > Random Reboots // + Spectrum = Random Reboots
Hi guys
I really feel bad when i read your comments, and notice that you all succeed to get OmniRom runing smoothly.
I'm facing random reboots while using Omnirom (Spectrum also) with X9076 new LCD panel, and it get worst when it's charging.
Do anyone know how to solve this problem.
I already tried clean install by flashing last Spectrum (to get latest Modem & Firmware) then wiped all and flashed Omnirom 5.1.1/6.0.1, but it doesn't work
Also i saw somewhere that it will be good to reflash everything step by step so i flashed starting by ColorOS 1.2.9 then 2.0.8 then 2.1.5 then OmniROM but random reboots still occur.
Please guys help me, i cannot stand that anymore.
Hi, which recovery do you use? I flash omni (both versions) with TWRP (full wipes dalvik, cache, etc) and no issues, everything works fine, no bsod's, no reboots...
Cheers

I dont understand it mate, we have the same phone (x9076 + r63419 Panel) and the same recovery (2.8.7.2), but in my case this roms works great (5.1.1 and 6.0.1, both roms works fine)
Did you try to format data? Backup what you need and in the wipe menu, instead of wipe, try to format data, then flash the rom, the gapps, and wipe dalvik cache only before reboot. I dont know if this will work to you, but is the only thing I can think of...
I tried Spectrum rom too, and except for the known issues (camera, gps icon, etc..), everything else works right, no bsods, no reboots...
Good luck

that link is from wuxianlin, the best developer for find7 and oneplus.
It's a special version of cm12.1 released unofficially later the end of cm12.1 for find7 and it's for new panel.

Zenfone 2 roms & what should I go for?

Hello so I am still loving every bit of my zenfone 2 and all but the rom I am using is no longer being updated as the OP no longer has the device I was wondering what the users here suggest I like blisspop rom but I don't like that the camera just looks bad in stock gaps app and the zenfone 2 app by asus looks so good in comparison I know there is a sorta ported camera app for cyanogen based roms and all but every time I use that it seems to crash the app for some reason.
Thanks for the help also is there still a app compatibility issue on the cyanogen zenfone 2? Sorry again just returning after about 7 months with the same rom on my phone.
Currently on: Prism Barebone V12.5
Zenfone 2 4G version
I highly recommend Echoe Zen Rom. It's currently the best out there for me.

Back up everything and move to either Stock CM 13 or CM 12.1, I prefer CM 13 as it is performing much better than CM 12.1. Yeah I agree Google Camera/ CM camera are not as good as Asus Camera or at least doesn't have too many options, but hey there is always play store where you can download other 3rd party camera apps. If you can cope with that, I think CM 13 is the best option.

I have decided on blisspop 6.1 PS any ideas for camera? I find for some reason the google camera app has way to much static compared to stock asus camera app.
Why don't you stick with Barebone v 12.5 until official MM arrives? Do you experience any issues/bugs?
I am currently on V12.5 with xposed + amplify, removed few more apps and with BORETS24's kernel. The device runs smooth and I get around 5hrs SOT (battery lasting 2 full days). And I have everything enabled (data, wifi, location..).
I tried Echoe's rom but it just has too much bloatware for me. I installed it, wasted 2 hours setting it up and deleting useless stuff only to realise that it is not as responsive as Prism's Barebone v12.5. So I'm sticking with v12.5 even though it wont be updated anymore.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!

I switched because well as much as I love a stock asus based rom my issue is I want more themeing options and Asus just dont have and I don't think will offer 3rd party again besides I do love some of the AOSP roms out there like blisspop but I am now expirenceing an issue with my phone This is before I even opted to install blisspop as I have not done it yet for some reason I am able to access TWRP through adb reboot recovery on windows but I can't access my bootloader using the power and volume down or adb reboot bootloader and I am not sure why at the moment. I like my phone like I like my linux pc with themeing options
Edit: Flashing blisspop 6.0.1 did not fix my bootloader issue and I also tried flashing the boot.img manually

[ROM][2016-10-27][Quarks][CM 13.0 Unofficial][6.0.1]

Latest update: 2016-10-27 To view a changelog, you can visit http://www.cmxlog.com/13/quark/ for a rough idea up to the build date.
Hi all. I was able to compile this stock build of CM 13.0 thanks to the efforts/hard works of Skrilax_CZ, baybutcher27, the folks who created Resurrection Rom Remix, and those over at CyanogenMod. It takes some minor features from Resurrection Rom apparently (i.e. notification light, some tiny performance/battery tweaks, and the ability to install Motorola apps). It is otherwise stock CM 13 and I use this daily. I and the other authors/devs assume no responsibility if you damage your device somehow.
Please don't feel pressured to update any more often than you wish .
Notes:
In order to make my calling work for Verizon, I had to go under Settings->Cellular networks->Preferred network type, and select LTE/CDMA (not LTE/GSM/UMTS). I assume GSM users should be fine with the defaults.
My recommendations to install:
Install TWRP 3.0.2 if you haven't already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3180308
Perform a backup of your current system/ROM (not really needed if just flashing a newer version).
Perform a factory reset/wipe (if coming from another ROM). If not coming from another ROM, still safest to do a dalvik/art cache reset.
Install the .zip
Install the appropriate google apps (http://opengapps.org/ , ARM, 6.0). I would think nano or micro is best.
(Optional) Install a custom kernel. The best at the time of this writing are at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/kernel-bhb27-kernel-t3207526 (CM-NX-RR-M builds for Marshmallow)
The latest is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=50122
Wipe dalvik/art cache if you install another kernel.
Reboot and enjoy
Kernel Adiutor is very good for performance/power saving adjustments:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor
If you are using bhb27 kernels, then you should use his version of Kernel Adiutor:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=48767

I'll be back to post updates fairly regularly (~every 1-2 weeks), but I also work full time in addition to being a Dad (those of you who are know how that is ) and won't really be able to response to PMs very well. The sources I used can be found under the post on XDA here at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3316232 (device, vendor, and kernel trees). Thanks and God bless.
I just flash this version and its absolutely amazing.
Good job devs!
Bugs I noticed:
-Settings for LED doesn't work.
-Android Auto says is not a supported device.
-Quick Charge 2.0 doesn't seems to work.
-Phone gets really hot when charging.
-...
I have been tempted to flash this all day, but I love how smooth my phone has been on resurrection remix and I enjoy the extra customizations it has. I'm eagerly awaiting the next resurrection remix build for all the latest git changes

That's a bummer with some of those bugs. Hopefully those will be taken care of soon and I'll be able to sync and rebuild. Did all of these happen to be with the stock kernel, or did you happen to flash another (like baybutchers)? I've seen a few specific to the tiles, but I dont have an Android Auto system to check against. Also, if they are working (or some) in resurrection then I could possibly try to patch this.

I don't know exactly, I installed it by downloading the zip and gapps to my PC and used the ADB sideload, before that I was using the last nightly of CM12.1. I did that and I didn't loose my info (either way I did a TWRP backup of everything, except cache previously), so I think it was the CM kernel. When I installed for the first time CM I flashed also the zip and gapps, if that way the stock kernel is changed with the CM kernel I think I'm using CM kernel.

Yeah that sounds like the stock cm kernel then if you didn't flash anything like that separately. I don't know if it would help, but you could always try the other kernel I posted about and see if Android Auto works (would have to restore your backup if you didn't want to keep it). It just depends how much you care and if it's worth staying with the ROM to you. There's obviously bound to be some bugs, but I enjoy using a lean version of the latest and greatest system. Thanks for the feedback .
Installed it 2h ago, everything is running fine so far.
This is smoother than the old cm and than rr too. I'm impressed!
I'm using Bhb Kernel.
My phone is turbo charging, led is working...
No bugs for me.
Nice job, mate! I'm glad we got a new cyanogenmod that we can have updates. Keep strong!

I've just been going under the built in privacy guard and setting advanced permissions to where apps I don't need to start at boot are denied, in addition to also denying a lot of them from being allowed to keep the device awake. I get very little battery drain in standby this way. If the cell signal is too weak though, it's really hard to prevent extra drain as it over compensates to get a good signal.

It's a little hard to say since there is a lot and I am just syncing to the main CyanogenMod 13 repository. However, this is a good link if you go by the date and something similar (such as the Nexus 6 which shares a lot of hardware).

This may be a dumb question but does this have VoLTE enabled and working(Verizon user)? Since it is CyanogenMod based I assume not but just waned to ask.
calsurferpunk, can you fix wifi on XT1254 with stock Brasil 1225's 6.0.1 ROM? CM12.1 and CM13 detect Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo radio very good!

Your assumption is correct. I don't believe this has ever worked with CyanogenMod. I'm on Verizon and haven't seen it.

I had this problem on other ROMs as well until I restored the original manufacturer ROM, set GPS to device only, verified it worked, then flashed the new ROM. You might have to do the same here. I believe it's been a long ongoing bug with CyanogenMod (and probably others).
pretty thx for the cm13,did it have ambient display?
I am downloading this at work right now. It is slow and will take me a couple to download.
While it is dl'g, I have a question about wiping. Do I still need to do a factory reset if I am coming from a marshmallow cm13 RR rom?Baybutchers?
Also, I have not been able to get my GPS to work properly. In your post #17, you referred to original manufacturer rom. Where can I get this rom to set the gps? I do have computerfreek's room saved as a backup if I could use it? I don't have easy access to a computer to do a fastboot.
Thx.

Has anyone tried DirtyUnicorns?

Seems that there are DU builds for the HTC 10 (pme). Here: https://download.dirtyunicorns.com/pme/
Has anyone tried them? If yes, what are your impressions?

It is AOSP based compared to LOS (CM) which the majority of the ROMs posted are.
DU is a great ROM. I found that it lacked some important features that I like, but a very solid ROM.
Yes i tried on Sprint but there was no data...even after entering the apn in

Encryption was not working, even with a full data format prior to flashing.
Any other opinions?
I have been running the weekly and official builds with nebula eas kernel for about 5 weeks or so. I personally feel its the best non-sense based ROM for my usage. It does lack some customisations most others have but makes up for it by being super stable, fast, battery friendly and just works as its supposed to with bull. I use superSU, substratum and A.R.I.S.E audio mod with selinux permissive without dramas.

Does it come with root or Magisk out of the box?
To reverse the question, can I use it as clean Android without root, passing SafetyNet? Thanks!

It comes WITHOUT root. So you can choose your preffered method or no root at all.
I don't know about safetynet as I am not using android pay or anything that relies on it to pass.
Also I have not had any encryption issues as someone earlier replied

401.4 FW and 3.1.0 TWRP. What kind of encryption issue? I did have once only rebooted into recovery and it asked for the password but I just rebooted in recovery from TWRP and it never happened again.

I've tried several combinations, with older/latest firmware.
Every time, It would ask for the encryption password on bootup.
Even if I haven't set one up.. With data format prior to installing
Anyway, got sick of re-setting apps on my phone, just installed Maximus HD ROM, and that's that ?

The 4-8-17 build is Android 7.1.2 and so far it is running really well. I am surprised that there is not a thread in the ROM section for DU.

I think it was the DU team's decision to close all and not allow any XDA threads. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
No idea why though.

A quick question.
What variant , firmware and TWRP are you using?
Everytime I try that rom..it encrypts itself with an unknown password, and upon restart I'm unable to access my phone

I have had that happen when switching from a sense based ROM to LOS or AOSP and it's a "pita"... Anything that I want to keep gets moved to my SD card before I reboot to recovery.
I read through several threads and tried several possible solutions so I can't remember exactly which one worked.
I am currently on Verizon, official Nougat with the flashed us unlocked "patch", TWRP 3.1.0-1. If you are on Verizon or Sprint you need to patch the image with a missing image that is found in the us unlocked model (there are threads discussing it where you can find the file).

It was not related to the data partition.
The format user data was done prior and after flashing it.
There is a DU Oreo-based build for the HTC 10: https://download.dirtyunicorns.com/?device=pme
For the time being it is under "RC". Downloading now, will report back!
Edit: ROM is very nice and is flying by. Only downside is that camera app is VERY slow... Also, woofer is not working (as expected).
What I like the most is that it is AOSP, i.e. no LineageOS stuff like AudioFX, etc. Customisation features are nice and the experience is close to Pixel with Stock OpenGapps. If the camera app is fixed, then this would be perfect (I believe it will, since this is the first RC release)!
Further notes: Capacitive buttons backlight is off by default (can't find any standard option to turn on, maybe with a kernel tool?) and notification LED does not work either. Don't mind for the capacitive buttons too much, but the LED is a real problem.
