Hi, I have an M9 on AT&T running the latest firmware 3.38. Has anyone successfully flashed a custom ROM on a 3.38 device with VoLTE working? I know some people are running 3.35 ROMs on 3.38 devices using the elementalX kernel, and I'd rather not disable VoLTE if I don't have to.
I'm S-ON running stock 6.0 at the moment.

So I have the unlocked HTC One M8 Asian variant, im rooted with unlocked bootloader and S-On. CWM Recovery.
I am now running CM11 on 4.4.4 and I want to go and try some Sense 6 based custom ROMS like Viper or InsterCoin.
Do I HAVE TO update my firmware in order to do so? What is exactly the firmware and how can I know what i'm running right now?
Any good tutorial in order to update firmware while S-On or guide to install sense based rom without updating firmware?

I'm currently using a m9 Sprint/nTelos with firmware 5.1 , but I can not upgrade to 6.0 because no exist that firmware for this model.
I tried to install custom ROM based on 6.0 but no start obv my firmware is 5.1.
there a way or a rom to reach 6.0 with firmare 5.1 ?

No, you cannot run a 6.0 rom on 5.1 firmware. You will get a bootloop.
If theres no rom from the carrier you have to wait. You can look into s-off but not sure if sprint/telos/verizon and other corrupt carriers have locked them out..

Sadly AT&T won't update it to official marshmallow.
I wanted to flash S ROM (Custom ROM) but it requires Marshmallow firmware,is there anyway i can update my firmware ? or i can flash the ROM without updating the firmware ?
my device is S-ON.

Just flash the rom. Even if u on lollipop. No worries. Rom already includes the latest fw.
is bootloader unlocked? and easy to root?
I have the LTE version, but i think the answer is yes.
But recently there was only one (popular) Custom Rom(Temaseks Rom) for the wifi version, and none fir the LTE one. Now development for this CM12 or 13 rom is discontinued(may still be a good rom) and we neglected p605 users finally have a stable and current CM14, hooray!
