Echoe ROM Custom Color Schemes Thread - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Themes, Apps, and

Some people have been having some complications setting their color schemes on @jds3118's Echoe Rom.
It's working out to be a beautiful rom and he (along with those in assistance and guidance) are doing a wonderful job.
So to better the experience for the common user and with the suggestion of a fellow member I took the initiative to create a seperate thread for sharing those settings.
To backup your color scheme open the Echoe Rom Control app.
Tap the menu in the top left corner.
Scroll downward to Backup & Restore

Select "Backup data" which saves the file to your internal storage.
Check for RomControl > Backups. You should see your file in there.
Simply zip it up and share it!
To install one: just download it, unzip it to /sdcard/RomControl/Backups
Next open Echoe ROM Control app, press the menu option, scroll downward to Backup & Restore, select restore data option and if you successfully placed the file in the correct directory you should now see it as an option. Select it, tap "OK" and then CONFIRM. You will probably get a force close error. Just tap OK. A reboot might be necessary to see all of the modifications.
When sharing with the forum please include a few screenshots for our convenience. We'd all appreciate it. Also, I'd recommend making a backup of what you currently have before applying anything else. Let's keep it clean and have fun!

I guess I'll start off by sharing mine.

Here's my current setup!

Here's my work in progress so far!

Hmm...I followed the instructions in the OP, however my theme didn't change, even after a reboot.
*EDIT*
I got it to work What happened was that when I unzipped the file to ROM Control, it saved it in another ROM Control folder WITHIN the backup folder. I moved the image to the original backup folder, and voila!

Your good my friend your sharing individual color themes based from the roms control app. As a member of echoe team I like the idea and the thread.

This is cool, thank you. I'll try to make a nice one to share too.

Nothing is working for me? I try to change colors, icons, etc, but when I reboot/reboot system UI nothing changes. Am I missing something?? I tried downloading a zip from above and restoring that but even that doesn't work?

Editing APKs to match themes (Not just app icons!)

I've never started a thread here, as I rarely have a unique idea - but this time I've decided to bite the bullet and share my experience.
It has been discussed on these forums about editing the APKs for non-stock apps in order to make the icon match the theme throughout the OS (as opposed to using Bettercut or similar to just change the homescreen icon). It has also been discussed elsewhere, but I can't find the link.
My problem was very similar, yet different, so I figured I'd play around and see what I could come up with.
I use the unbelievably sexy GlossSuite theme by Moonsspoon which uses this cool little icon in the notification bar to alert you to having a new SMS (and maybe MMS, not sure...).
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I also use the app from the market called SMS Popup. If you dont know what it is, check it out - very handy. One of my favorite features of the app is that you can use it for your SMS notifications, and it allows you to set a custom vibe pattern and it will flash the LED the color of your choice - both very helpful to let you know that it's an SMS you're getting instead of a call or whatever...
You need to turn off the native SMS app's notifications when you use this feature of SMS Popup so that you dont get 2 alerts every time you get a message. The drawback to this, while using a theme like GlossSuite, is that the notification icon for messages that SMS Popup uses is the stock icon:
This is only a problem if you're OCD like myself.
I had already gotten the png icon extracted from the GlossSuite theme in hopes that I could just swap it out with the icon inside the SMS Popup apk (if I could find it, that is).
So I decided to crack open the APK for SMS Popup and see if I could find the icon used and what I could do to make it use the icon from the GlossSuite theme.
Inside the APK in the /res/drawable folder there are 2 images: The app's icon, and the icon used in the notification bar. And to make it even easier, the file name was exactly the same as the file used by the GlossSuite theme! Easy enough!
I used 7zip (WinRAR should work just fine too) to:
1. Open the APK
2. Navigate to the /res/drawable folder
3. Delete the stat_notify_sms.png
4. Drag and drop the png I extracted from the theme into it's spot
5. Delete the META-INF folder inside the SMS Popup APK
-- I got this info from the previously mentioned thread about swapping non-stock icons. It is so that when you resign the APK in the next step, the keys don't conflict with what the APK dev has used (or something like that - I admittedly don't know anything about keys and signing and all that jazz)
6. Close your archiving application.
I then used this auto-signing tool posted by "Dave Da illest 1" to resign the APK using the testkeys. It had to be edited slightly to sign APKs instead of ZIP files. If you want to download my edited version of the auto-signing tool, click here.
Uninstalled the previous version of the app, copied the APK over to my SDcard and then used AppManager to install the APK, and now:
(yes, I know there are typos...)
It works!
I'm sure most of your brainiacs here at XDA have figured this out on your own, but I couldnt find any solid information on it so I figured I'd share what little knowledge I had on the subject.
If you want to try this for yourself and want the icon from the GlossSuite theme, it is here.
And if you just happen to have GlossSuite installed and are using SMS Popup and would like my already edited version of the APK, click here.
[DISCLAIMER: If my sharing of this APK goes against any rules of the forum, please excuse my ignorance. If I find out this is the case, and a mod hasn't beat me to the punch, I'll gladly remove this link!]
So - with all that being said, I should clarify that I haven't done any theme creation (although I have edited a few pngs here and there, but nothing major), so obviously this bit of information is probably well below most of you... But if it can help anyone, then yay for my first real contribution to this community.
Awesome find. When I finally settle on a version I think I will sit down and do this for a few Apps. I havent heard anything on it before so as far as I'm concerned your the first!
|Spike|
i am trying to do something very similar- i am trying to install the file below as my status bar icon but when i use your autosign app (and the other auto sign app) i still get a "this cannot be installed on your device" or something similar....
did you have this issue ever?
After resigning with your tool did you then name it back to what is originally was or did you leave the name as to what the autosign converted it to?
fixed. apparently you need to uninstall the app first. wonder how this affects updates of it in the future?

Yeah thanks for pointing this out - I added the "remove old version" step to my information in the original post.
And since the process goes as such, as far as the Market is concerned, the app isn't even installed on the phone, so I would assume that you won't be notified of updates.
And, of course, if you manually notice an update in the Market and install the app from there, you won't have your changes in place... would have to go thru the process again I believe.
That's where aTrackDog comes into play.
Keep all your apps uptodate even if the market doesn't know.

Its simply just replace the image with your own, resign, install and you're good to go. Heres an example of what you could do.
I made this months ago but didn't think it was anything special so i never said anything. Lighting bolt at the top is the triangle notification.
copy it from your phone to your pc using adb.

For non-stock apps, you can use a free app called AppManager to copy non-protected apps to your SD card.
Or, you can just use the terminal emulator
cd data/app
ls
[shows a list of all non-protected apps installed]
cp [filename.apk] /sdcard/[backup folder of your choice]
This same method can be used for protected apps if you can find the correct folder... But I won't provide that info, because I'm sure that's against the rules of these forums.

[MOD][11/5]Modified T-Mo TouchWiz 4|5 icon dock|5 columns in app drawer

Hello there,
I've had a few requests for this, so here it is.
This is a modification of the latest TouchWiz4 Launcher made by me. This post is going to be updated whenever a new version of firmware goes out.
I do already know that TouchWiz 4.5 exists by fr4gg0r, which is far more customizable, but I have followed a different interpretation to this. This is not based on work done by fr4gg0r.
You can find my original thread on the International SGSII forums here .
Features
5 icon dock
5 column app drawer
Smaller fonts in icon dock so they don't get hidden
Better spacing of icons in homescreen
Better spacing on the badges
SOON TO COME
Application to control features
Themeing Interface
What are the advantages?
Uses the same id key as the original Samsung stock launcher, so all widgets work at once, without having the need to resign with different id
4 Columns, 5 icon dock, 5 app colum appdrawer menu (v1)

fr4gg0r for the inspiration and advice.
Juggernaut for the deodex build which i extracted the apk from.
As I do not own an T-Mobile phone, i am working blind here. Versions are untested. Please report issues here or in my original thread (preferably) with screenshots so i can identify the problem. If anyone feels like picking this up, please feel free to do so, so long i get some sort of credit.
How to use
In the app drawer, hit edit, and add one more icon dock at the bottom of the page.
Rearrange your app drawer icons in a 5 column Layout.
Solutions to Force Close problems
Code:
Hit Menu>Applications>Manage Applications>All>TouchWiz Launcher
Force close and clear data
Instructions if things go wrong:
Code:
Extract apk from .zip
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm TouchWiz30Launcher.apk
rm TouchWiz30Launcher.odex
hit Control + C
adb push path to your download\TouchWiz30Launcher.apk /system/app
#example adb push C:\Users\123\Downloads\Touchwiz30Launcher.apk /system/app
adb shell
chmod 644 /system/app/TouchWiz30Launcher.apk
adb reboot
Landscape mode requests
I am able to make the launcher redraw in landscape mode without losing sign keys. However the icon dock does not stay on the right of the phone, but goes in the bottom. The launcher is not optimized for landscape mode at all. Perhaps i'll be able to get this done in the long run.
NOTE
The European launcher and the 4G Launcher are not hot-swappable. That means that when using the 4G Launcher, you cannot revert back to the European Launcher (or vice verca) by flashing the zip.
You need to WIPE data under Settings>Menu>Manage Applications. Install the other version of the launcher, then wipe data AGAIN.
Failing to do so will cause FC's when trying to add a 5 icon dock.
Changelog for V1
Code:
v1.0 - Initial Release
v1.1 - Resize on all widgets - Choose your Default Home
v1.1.1 - Bugfix when rearranging homescreens
v1.2 - Layout changes
reserved.
Please post issues either here or in my original thread on the international SGSII forums.

Just tried this on juggarneut and it doesn't seem to work. I tried your directions
•In the app drawer, hit edit, and add one more icon dock at the bottom of the page.
It won't allow me to add the fifth icon.

How about your app drawer? Is it 5 columns there?
Make sure to wipe data in Applications > Menu > All > TouchWiz Launcher.
Also if that doesn't work, extract the apk from the zip file, remove your old TouchWiz30Launcher.apk from /system/app and replace it with the extracted one, then reboot.

I am not getting five columns in the app drawer or homescreen dock. I have cleared the cache and still nothing.
By swapping the TW launchers through root explorer. Wouldn't that cause the phone to crash due to no launcher being present?

Could you do me a favor and upload the updater-script within your rom .zip? It should be in META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script.
I need to find out what block system is on so i can mount it. /system probably doesn't get mounted right and doesn't flash.
How can I install that

Thanks a lot Jjday7 for the updater-script. I was using the same devblock mount as the international SGS II, so /system wasn't getting mounted.
Flash as zip is fixed now, upload new file already.

About the tool
You are an Android developer?
You remove the same certain apps and files each time you re-base your ROM on a newer version?
Or when you release a new update for your ROM?
This tool will certainly help you.
It is a simple Windows tool that will help you in removing and deleting unwanted apps and cleaning the ROM from useless stuff.
It will do all the work automatically in only one second!
This tool is primarily built for Sense 5.
It should also work on previous versions of Sense and it should even work on any other Android ROM, but first you must make sure that the directories of apps in resource folder inside the tool's main folder are compatible with the same apps of your ROM.
If you are a normal user and want to clean your ROM, the best choice for you is Aroma ROM Cleaner by @Patrics83.
How the tool works
This is a very simple tool, all you need to do is to extract your ROM.zip then enter the directory of the root folder of your ROM (system folder) then check the apps you want to remove then press Delete button, finally zip your ROM again.
Deleting custom apps & files
This tool offers a good feature that allows you to remove any app or file that is not found in the list, to set up your custom apps just go to resource\custom inside the tool's main folder and open one of the sixteen text files and add the directory of your unwanted app.
Example:
I want to remove Face Unlock which is not supported by the tool, all I need to do is to open resource\custom\custom1.txt and add these lines:
Code:
\app\FaceLock.apk
\lib\libfacelock_jni.so
\vendor\pittpatt
Make sure that:
Lines must begin with Backslash '\'.
You must not forget to write the extension of the file.
Apps or folders must be separated only by New-line.
The tool offers sixteen custom apps, but if you need more you can combine more than one app in each custom text file, as it can handle unlimited number of lines.
Download & Changelog

One of the reasons of making this tool is to return you a favor for all your great works.
Because you sometimes forget to remove some lib files from your ROM.
In ARHD 31.x you forget to remove (libchromeview.so - libgoggles_clientvision.so - libgoogle_recognizer_jni.so) and some other files.
So I hope that this tool will help you.
Hello. What is the difference between this and ROM Cleaner, besides that you run this tool on your pc before copying the rom to SD card and that you flash the ROM Cleaner after the rom?

You are right. :good:
ROM Cleaner is an Aroma script that will remove apps after installing the ROM.
But my tool is a Windows program for developer or for anyone who want to remove apps before installing the ROM.
Great and useful Tools ,thanks man :good:

The root folder is just the ROM's main folder.
So extract your ROM.zip and browse to system folder.

Just browse to system folder.

Old instructions:
attached you can find the apk file. just download, unzip and copy it over with any file manager (that can write the system folder), set persmissions (644), reboot and you're good to go.
make sure to backup the original apk.
the settings apk is located in system/priv-app/ folder.
Change log:

Known bugs:

- white "add account" icon on white background - thanks to Desno365 for the help
- white "delete launcher" icon on white background - just replaced the icon, so let me know if this causes any issues
- white google account privacy settings

The only difference to white settings it that the icons and the text is gray (holo gray), the switch is changed to white with black text.

Red! Theme
this is a beta and it does NOT contain the settings app, so you have to flash that individually.
Screenshots:
Instructions:
flash white settings first, doesn't really matter which one but i recommend to use the grayscaled version (unless you have any of them already flashed), then flash the Red! theme. it's important to flash Red! last, since with the other mods, you overwrite the framework and you lose the red theme.
If you are on odexed rom and haven't used any mods for Settings.apk & SystemUI.apk, then make sure the delete the .odex files for these two apps from system\priv-app folder!
Change log:

i tried to change the add account image in the xml, but doesn't seem to have effect for some reason - i can't understand though why, the png is there and it did change for the first time :S if i change the png, i'm afraid, i'll screw up something else...
for the bins on the home settings, i'll look into it, didn't check that before, sorry
ps: i guess i figured what the problem is: whenever i change the settings_header.xml, it seems, it doesn't change when i recompile the apk and therefore those 2 icons are not getting changed, even though i do the edit. :S strange.
Donjamal, I noticed another thing that need to be changed

if you changed the font, i don't think, this will have any effect on that. you might have to wipe dalvik & cache.

Unfortunately not working with Purity ROM I've been looking for such mod for a long time but don't want to change rom.

[TOOL GUIDE]Xperia Theme Creator

Hi.
I'm writing this guide, because not everyone knows how this Theme Creator from SOONY (Lollipop will be soon) works.
Firstly, download jar file from:
https://developer.sony.com/develop/smartphones-and-tablets/theme-creator/
As we know, u have to have a Photoshop CS6 as minimal requirement.
BUT Adobe give us a 30 day test version (only for home use) for free.
Just register and download tool:
https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/photoshop
In Theme creator we can work with GIMP.
Download the latest version from official site for free.
When you will run theme creator and select new theme,
in destination folder you will have "templates".
-Open one by one with Photoshop CC:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
-ucheck layers named " hide me":
-Select "File", " Save for web":
-don't change anything and click Save:
-select destination folder in your theme folder and export it:
This is everything where we need Photoshop.
Now u can edit file by file in theme creator using gimp:
-set gimp in advanced settings of image processing:
BUT: If you have weak computer, i've already uploaded package with all files, so all you need is:
-download RESOURCES.rar package,
-unrar it to theme folder,
-no need for photoshop, u can start with editing files one by one in theme creator using GIMP.
\/ RESOURCES.rar \/
http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/4sk6T8tX/file.html
TUTORIAL FOR THOSE WHO USING MY RESOURCES:
1. Download my RESOURCES.rar from the link.
2. Unpack it to directory you want to.
3. Open Theme Creator Beta and Create New project, with complete resources:
4. Open selected in creating new project destination folder and copy all folders from unpacked RESOURCES.rar to theme folder.:
5. Select png with theme creator you want to edit. You can choose with different resolutions (Description: http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html):
6. Click "Edit using external tool". For this time, it will be GIMP.
7. Edit your png as you want.
8. When You are done, press File >> Replace file_name.png.
9. Now You can take a look at Theme Creator to see changes.
ATTENTION:
-Never save image file from GIMP in theme folder in .xcf format.
-If you want to save your files with history of editing, select another folder far away from Theme folder.
ATTENTION 2:
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS, then take a look at picture size (px). must be same as original file.
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS and edited file was .9.png, check for absolutely black 1px borders (tutorial for 9.png can be found on xda.)
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS, take a look at theme folders and delete ALL .xcf files...
That's all.
For any question write in comments.
If u like it, click Thanks button.

@Krustnesis I'm having a hard time figuring out how to change navbar icons. When I open them up in an external edit program, it opens up in Gimp 2.8. Which is fine, then I try to replace with another icon, and then I press export too, and save it over the original. What happens next is that I get a red box with a blue X inside the box on the icon I changed which is not correct. In this case I tried to change the back key to lollipop triangle back key.
My question is, how do I do it using Gimp? Am I saving the file wrong?
BTW: I used the resources you posted.

I will come back to home and will add screens how to save the entire types of files for themer.
When you open any image file, check if it's not .9.png file.
If yes, then remember to add 1px border with black and "empty" pixels (tutorials on xda about .9.png files)
When exporting files, remember to save in theme folder ONLY theme pngs/jpgs, never save in this folder images in gimp format, because theme creator will take it as normal png and will show red X.

When exporting files, remember to save in theme folder ONLY theme pngs/jpgs, never save in this folder images in gimp format, because theme creator will take it as normal png and will show red X.
