[Q] LG UP Restoring - Sprint LG G5 Questions & Answers

I am trying to reflash the zv5 update. I want to start fresh one last time on this device.
I have downloaded LG UP (from Autoprime thread), the 8994 dll msi, and proper drivers.
LG UP says my device is Unknown even tho it lists LS992 next to the port info on the initial screen.
I cannot get beyond this screen. I cannot select an Unknown device. After reading around a bit, I learned some registry edits were needed. However it isn't 100% clear what needs to be done.
When I go into the registry, I see there is no folder for LS992 under HKEY_Current_User\Software\LG Electronics\LGUP\Model\
Is it as simple as adding one for the LS992 and directing the DLL_PATH to the 8994 folder similar to the other models?
Thanks.

I think u have to download a DLL for the LS992, do u connect the phone in download mode?

LG Flashtool for who stuck in U+ LTE logo, bootloop, soft brick (only for F240x)

Hi everyone,
I got F240L for about 2 months.
Got software problem last months from a post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380374
Repair to some phone shop, he got no clue neither. Left my phone in CWM.
So, I use KDZ Updater + download KDZ file from pan.baidu.com (get it to work again).
I got curious, so I install Dungeon Hunter 4 again. Again, software problem occurs, even I uninstall the game. KDZ Updater and LG Mobile Support Tool left my phone stuck in U+ LTE logo.
Browse the web, then I read someone whose using LG Flashtool (it need DLL and TOT file) to flash the phone.
Search those two files every web, finally got it.
LG Flashtool step by step guide http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f177/lg-flash-tool-free-no-need-b2b-user-pass-1628819/index2.html
And got LGUP_GKV.DLL from extracting F240L10t_00.kdz from pan.baidu.com (see attachment), this file has the same size for F240K and F240S, so it must be compatible for F240L, F240S, F240K.
And got TOT file from http://www.gaojituan.com/thread-90-1-1.html or http://optimusforums.com/threads/f240-optimus-g-pro-firmware-downloads.7679
I hope this solution might help someone who ever got this problem.
NB : After 600 seconds flashing progress using LG Flashtool, don't put your phone in LG SOFTWARE MODE. Somehow, the phone got it reboot in DOWNLOAD MODE, and LG Flashtool will reflash your phone for the 2nd time (start from 1% progress again).
It not work with Hard Brick (black screen). tried it, not success.

has anyone started to jtag fix the hard brick yet ??
Hard brick issue
Sorry, I'm also a noob here.
Can your phone go to DOWNLOAD MODE ?
I read on hongkong website (got it translate from google) 2 weeks ago, someone already try LGNPST, KDZ Updater, R&D Tool, LG Mobile Support Tool, still didn't work. The other guy recommend that you should have it fix by LG guy in Korea, or use JTAG device.
I even don't know what JTAG device is.
Maybe someone in this forums can explain you how.
Sorry if my word can be misleading.
I'll update the thread to delete the word "Hard Brick"
You are a wonderful and creative
It has succeeded with me
Glad could help.
In the mean time, enjoy this super AWESOME phone.

Could you please provide instructions on how to use KDZ updater? Where did you download it from or if you could PM? thanks
I'm downloading software via LG Mobile support but at the moment its going to take 30hrs!!
KDZ updater & LG Mobile Support Tool won't help.
You need to download LG Flashtool 1.5 is the latest version on the link that on #1 post. Once you download, follow the procedure how to install the LG Flashtool.
LG Flashtool needs 2 files (DLL & TOT) to flash your phone.
You can download DLL file from the attachment on #1 post. The attachment is compressed in RAR format. You can extract it using Winzip, Winrar, or 7zip.
The TOT file is on the 2 link #1 post (chinese website & optimus forums). You need to download the approriate type according to your phone (F240L, F240K, F240S) each files about 2 GB size. I suggest you use any download manager, to prevent disconnect from bad interference or time out. I can't post the TOT file here too due to slow network in my country (Indonesia) .
After you collect those DLL & TOT files, here's step by step :
1. Disconnect any internet connection
2. Set the computer time before Juli 15th, 2012 ( I set March 1st, 2012)
3. Double click LG Flashtool. Username, password, and Registration key are on the link #1 post
4. Insert DLL file in DLL column. Browse to where you put the DLL file.
5. Insert TOT file in Software column. Browse to where you put the TOT file.
6. Click OK
7. Click the GEAR icon, set only port #1 that ticked. Other ports are UNTICKED. Click OK.
8. Press & hold volume UP and DOWN, while connecting the USB cable to your computer (set to DOWNLOAD MODE). Until the phone shows "DOWNLOAD MODE" on the center of the screen.
9. Open System Properties. Set COM port for LG Handset using port 41.
10. Click Arrow Right in LG Flashtool, disconnect USB cable for 5 seconds. Reconnect USB cable.
11. The FLASH process in progress, wait for 600 seconds and shows green background say "PASS".
12. Disconnect USB cable and close the LG Flashtool application.
13. Release the battery, wait for 3 minutes.
14. Do FACTORY RESET in SETTINGS. End of FLASHING process.
Enjoy !!!
Thanks for that very clear instructions.

PLZ TELL ME HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD TOT FILE baidu is not working
You can download from http://www.gaojituan.com/thread-90-1-1.html or http://optimusforums.com/threads/f240-optimus-g-pro-firmware-downloads.7679/
Click on the latest TOT file according to its date and your phone (F240L, F240S, F240K).
I've test on F240L v10i from http://www.gaojituan.com/thread-90-1-1.html works very well on pan.baidu.com.
Which file are you try to download ? Which phone do you use ?
I tried the procedures you guys mentioned above, but my phone does not seem to be being flashed.
Everything seems alright, up until disconnect the USB cable and wait for 5 secs to reconnect, but after reconnect, nothing happen....
mine is F240S, does it matter? How do I extract DLL from TOT or KDZ files?
Thanks in advanced
Dennis
---------- Post added at 11:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:23 PM ----------
I actually finally got it flashed, all the procedures are correct, just need to time that 5 secs accurately.
Also, anyone with F240S needs to stay with the version of Flashtool that OP provided, any version higher than 1.4 seems giving me error.
Thanks very much for the info.

Guys plzzz help... I have F240s. first i was rooted on stock and then flashed cwm along with loki patch file (easy-cwm-f240s.zip file). i wanted EDGE on my
phone (i m in pakistan and only gprs works here on this phone) so i flashed panama rom by flash tool but lost the signal service.. i Wiped system, data, cache in CWM and restored data of my stock
rom from CWM but still no signals ( mobile model was still showing up e980h from panama rom) then i factory reset and flashed Cm 10.1 of f240s (i think i may have wiped system ,cache and date before it). now when i power on, LG logo appears on screen and in left top side it says:

Cause: boot Certification Verify
unfortunately i also had below 30% battery when i flashed cm10.1. NOW if i go to download mode and use mobile support tool
and flash tool to update it says: battery level is low and upgrade is unavailable, fully recharge ur battery and try again.

From your first screenshot, I think you have the same issue as me, the phone is recognized since it wont get to that error if your driver is not working. I was able to flash F400L tot file on my phone even though I have an F400K model. Just posted and hopefully someone can help and provide details on what I need to do in order to flash the original F400K factory firmware on my phone.

Yes same thing happened to me, it turns out that its not a driver issue my phone accepted the F400L TOT file although my device is F400K it is strange.
my phone is stuck at factory reset status 2. Everything went fine until the last part and it failed...
EDIT: I installed the latest flash-tool and re downloaded the dll and tot files and its still failing at the very end....
EDIT 2:
I have tried again, and still nothing. It will sometimes get to 99% and then fail, and other times it won't make it past 11-12%. I re installed the latest drivers, flash tool, and re-downloaded the dll and tot files. Does anyone know how to unbrick it? The most it will do is get to factory reset status 2, but then if I run it again after it fails it won't find my phone, and it only boots into download mode. It's a never ending loop of that or factory reset status 2 no matter what I try. I would really appreciate any help. I have a F400S and I downloaded all of the correct files from the other posts. My phone crashed after flashing a ROM and now well, here I am.

Hi there! Thanks for you reply I waited long enough for a reboot and I decided to unplug the cable, remove the battery and thank my lucky stars it rebooted up well... I managed to update to the latest version .. Version F400k10g.. (Since I'm in Korea). I read somewhere on the LG G3 forum that you can only unplug after " Factory reset status 3 ".. Hi there! Do you have the correct .dll and stock version for your phone? Try using a newer version of the flash tool.. I used version 1.8.6.527. Make sure you set COM ( Under "Device Manager" ) to COM 41. Good luck !!! :good:

No luck... :crying:
I'm still getting the "Model Information Check FAIL!" Notification.
The Model I'm using is labeled "Not for sale"
I updated the flash tool to verison 1.8.6.527 and checked the COM port to be 41
I'm actually not sure I have the correct .dll and tot-files. Is there a list for them?
Any suggestions

Make sure of your model number!!! Then post the model number and I'll check online for the correct .dll and tot files.
Go under " Settings, About Phone, Software Information "..
If you can't get into your system .. check your phone package.. On the box, it should have your model number.

[Q] OSP (On-Scree Phone) on G3?

Hey Gang.
I was super happy coming home with my brand spanking new G3 phone, until I realized that the feature I'm probably using the most - OSP (On-Screen Phone) is seemingly missing.
Is there a way to get this working on the G3? Can it be ported from G2?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Kingkeld.
I would also like to know if there's any way to use OSP with the G3.
Thanks.
I followed the instructions on the following thread and now LG OSP works with my G3.
The relevant post on the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24633554&postcount=17
I also installed the LG OSP APK on my G3.
Download link for LG OSP APK:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pdqgzpqy1x08xwi/com.lge.osp-2.apk
Download link for the D855 folder I created (copied from G2 folder and changed model name in all required places):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cg526mu5rlgy3tw/LG-D855.rar
Detailed instructions:
1. Copy the files from the models available that represent the best your phone and paste them into your model's folder. If it does not exist, create it.
2. Rename the xml file to your model's name, in my case it was P930, which is also the folders name (not sure if this is critical, but to be safe just do so).
3. Open the file with notepad (notepad>open or right-click then edit).
You should see these tags:
Code:
<on-screen-phone id="P930" version="2.0">
<model>LG-P930</model>
<name>P930</name>
I renamed all these (there were named "720X1280"). Fill these tags with the model of your phone, again.
In short, I made a new folder named D855 and copied all the files from the D802 folder to the D855 folder.
Then I renamed the d802 xml file to d855.
I opened the xml file in notepad, did a "search & replace" for d802 to replace it with "d855".
You should do the same for your G3's model number.
@Splashy2k
Thank you very much for this post... Downloaded the files, installed apk but where on the phone do I have to copy the LG-D855 folder?
Or do I have to copy it into a folder on my PC?
Have a good one.
JJ
You need to copy it to a folder on your PC: My Documents\LG OSP\Phone_skin directory
Yippiiiiiieeeehhhhh!!!!!
Thanks a million! It works perfect.
Wonder why it's not in the G3 by default...
Your my hero of the day.
P.S.: I hope you don't mind if I share this in another forum?
No problem, I'm really glad it works for you
Sure, you can share this in another forum.

Will this work on the D850 the way you set it up? If it won't, how would I go about making it work?

I done all as you explained but when I tried to detect my G3 D855 via OSP on PC via USB, it keep saying cannot detect.
It asks me to select PC software option in the USB connection mode in the phone or via Settings/PC Connection , but I do not have the option.
Is this the reason?
It should be on the Media Device (MTP) option, it works for me.
If it still doesn't work, try another USB port on your PC.

This worked PERFECTLY for me too. Thank you so much!
@Splashy2k you are a life saver dude, thank you so much.
please help! I'm really liking the Sprint variant of the G3, but for the life of me I cannot get OSP working. Do you guys know if this works on the LS990 version of the G3?
I had the S5 prior to getting the G3 and i used Samsung's version called Sidesync and it worked well. I'd rather keep the G3, but being able to view/contol my phone from my pc is a necessity.
Thanks in advance guys, have a great one!

It doesn't hurt to try.
Follow the detailed instructions in the above posts.
Copy the G2 folder in the skins folder of the OSP software to a new folder named LS990 or whatever your device's model name is and change the model name in all the required places.
Install the APK on your device.
The device should be on MTP if connected via USB.

bummer. I don't think it works on the Sprint version? For some reason my computer, when launching OSP application, the application itself says that "No USB devices found."
Am I doing something wrong? I followed the steps posted in this post, but haven't had success.
Again, thanks for taking the time out of your day to help me out :good:
Did you try another USB port on your PC?
Try turning on your Wifi if it's not turned on. If that doesn't help, try restarting your phone.
Sometimes OSP doesn't recognize my G3 and the above steps usually help.
Thanks... I'll give that a shot in the morning when I get to work. I have however tried different ports which didn't yield any positive results. Will give it anther run in the am. Honestly this phone is the best I've used so far, with the note 3 coming a close second. The note 3 standouts as a phone that can do Pretty much anything a computer can do but on a smaller scale. The G3, to me, is a bugatti of phones. Just absolutely beautiful, with a monster engine That can do what a smartphone can do at a premium level, but lacks the productivity tools that are actually handy in everyday use.
With that being said, I will mostly likely turn the return my g3 much reluctance ,so that I can get the note 4 coming out soon. I need Samsungs sidesync app, which is the exact same thing as lg osp app.
Loved everything about this phone... But working at a desk on front of a computer makes controlling your phone with the ability to mirror it to your pc monitor is a must for me.
Appreciate all the input and time Y'all took to help a beginning android tech trying to learn the ropes... Props to all you

Try changing USB mode to PTP and then back to MTP.

Unbricking LG G Pad in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode

Hello
This is the process that I used to unbrick the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet.
Note 1: The operating system on my PC is Windows XP SP3 x86
Note 2: The same process should also work on LG G Pad 10.1 (With a different .tot file)
1. First of all you should make sure that the G Pad is detected when connected to the PC.
The device should be seen as QHSUSB_DLOAD in Other Devices section in Device Manager.
hxxp://i.imgur.com/IawJZq0.jpg
2. Install the QHSUSB Driver for your operating system.
The driver can be found here:
hxxp://mega.nz/#!HlpViaTJ!NPACjSQtTjGWdYIj3kHO3bGfmAotaSSQindmgRY9VJ4
I have used the driver from the "checked" folder.
Reconnect the tablet and you should now see the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COMxx) under the Ports section in Device Manager.
Take a note of the COM port number.
hxxp://i.imgur.com/IR7uUCB.png
3. Download the .tot image file for you tablet model.
I have used the one from here (LG G Pad 8.3 V500 4.4.2):
hxxp://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407581518
4. Now you need the LG BoardDiag tool.
Download this one from here:
hxxp://mega.nz/#!XwgkXTAR!JnAAXKBQoezT7CcxRSVkSQlPFr4AXcvfm6oJbw4bht4
Please use only this one even if you have another BoardDiag. I have tried other versions and this was the only one that worked. For the other versions I always got some error:
failed during loading flash programmer
or
device not found in dload trying flash programmer
With this tool we will extract the .tot rom image first.
Unrar the archive and open BoardDiag3.99c application.
Click on the ... button next to BIN from the Image Extraction section on the bottom of the BoardDiag application and browse to the .tot file you downloaded at step 3.
Then click on the ... button next to DIR and browse to a folder to extract the files in.
Click on the Extract button and wait for the files to be extracted.
After the extraction is complete, close the BoardDiag application.
hxxp://i.imgur.com/Kw0ZhUv.jpg
5. Now we will perform some cheks on the tablet.
Open the BoardDiag application again.
Now select the AP check and EMMC TEST checkboxes from the Board Diag Test section on the top-left.
Also choose the G-pro (APQ8064) on the AP Chipset dropdown selection box. Choose the Com Port that you took a note of at step 2. Select as the Target Dir the folder where you extracted the .tot image file at step 4. These settings are in the top-right side of the BoardDiag application. Make no other changes to the settings.
Now Click on the big START button and wait for the checks to be made.
If everything is OK you should see under the Test Results section the green text PASS both under the AP and EMMC. Leave the BoardDiag application open. Now you can proceed to step 6.
6. Now we will Flash the files to the tablet.
Now you will also check the SDRAM TEST checkbox on the left top side of the BoardDiag application. The other settings were already made in step 5. Click the START button again.
After performing the checks you should see that the files from the image (aboot.mbn, boot.mbn, etc.) are written to the tablet.
After that, the BoardDiag tried to reset the tablet, but it failed and it ended with FAIL for SDRAM under the Test Results section. But the files were already written on the tablet.
7. After that I disconnected and reconnected the tablet to the PC. Nothing was detected, or so I thought, because I could see that in Device Manager something was happening. It was like refreshing itself every 5 seconds or so. I disconnected the tablet from the PC and I plugged in the wall charger. It turns out that the battery had no power.
After a few minutes the LG logo appeared on the screen. Nothing else was happening but I could see the LG logo. I left the tablet to charge the battery for at LEAST 3 hours. If your tablet battery is also discharged you should plug your tablet to the charger for at LEAST 3 hours.
After that I reconnected the tablet to the PC and it was detected as G Pad but it couldn't find the driver.
8. Install the LG Mobile Drivers.
You can get them from here:
hxxp://mega.nz/#!j8xikSYC!Njz3E1_PSJanzQEeZCbbEoWfxUz9TfrTVgusqBCJ2qY
After the driver installation reconnect the tablet to the PC.
It should now be connected properly.
9. Download LG Mobile Support Tool. You can use the launcher from here:
hxxp://mega.nz/#!bp5jgBQJ!xqiMyQU7z-ATlYz__0ybz2kM7boeLFNgqsu5XoPPSzo
Open LG Mobile Support Tool. You should now see the tablet is connected correctly and you should see the tablet model on the left side of the LG Mobile Support Tool. You will now go to Options and choose Upgrade Recovery. Wait for the image to be downloaded and flashed to the tablet.
After the process is completed the tablet will boot to life again.
Please write your comments bellow if you succeeded or failed. I will provide further assistance if required.
PS: I think you need to remove the battery and reinsert it after step 6. Or it could also work if you let the battery discharge completely.
Good luck!
I could not post the images and the links.
I will add them later (after I get to 10 posts).
Contact me on skype (cyadron) for the files and for other help.

Actually it was the only way I found that worked to unbrick this tablet.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

This sounds very promising @cyadron, hopefully you'll be able to edit the links in soon.
@muiriddin this sounds like you should be able to revive your tablet from your science experiment.
@fefifofum posting here instead of the other thread as that would be way off topic for it.
This sounds like we'll be able to do some proper experimenting and still be able to recover if it doesn't work!
Hopefully I will be able to post the links soon. Does anyone know the minimum number of posts required to post links?

This thread should probably be pinned. You can request the moderators to do so by "reporting" your first post and ask them there. Too bad, as far as I know, there aren't any TOTs available for the VK810, although I haven't needed one yet.

Unless there is a hardware problem with the emmc, it should work.
Try and remove the battery and put it back again.
Please also make sure you follow the steps as described.

Read everything you can and follow instructions.
I think you'll need to search further than just this thread though. I read about someone recovering an LG device from this state but I think it was a phone.
But you'll need to find it and follow the instructions, I don't remember where I read it.

roms apparently change the model of the device as it changes cm11 to build Cyanogenmod 11 xx
AOSP - to AOSP rom 2 etc.
the solution would be to install a stock rom clean no matter if v10 v30 etc. The important thing is not having changed the model number and manufacturer.
I hope I have helped and sorry
that includes cloudy fa's roms

Hi !
How do I do all the above ?
My PC recognize the phone without problem, but LGUp won't start unless I "select a known model"... (LGUp window shows : Model = Unknown ; COM Ports = [COM5, CloudyG3] )
Problem is that my phone is softbricked after installing a new ROM, and I can only enter download mode (not even recovery). I just want to downgrade it and reflash a LG's stock ROM (or whatever ROM that would make my phone actually work !!! )
Can you help me do that ?

LGUP "UNKNOWN" and FlashTool failure with LG G3 (and possibly others)
When I downloaded and installed LGUP with the DLL installer stated to be for the LG G3, the program did not recognise the phone, reporting it as "UNKNOWN". The LG FlashTool also failed, reporting the IMEI and PID as NULL. After spending a lot of time on this, I twigged that the DLL file in the LGUP model directory was for the 8994 processor; but the G3 has an 8974, quite different and incompatible. I located the DLL installer MSI file for 9874 devices, uninstalled LGUP and the DLLs from Windows add/remove programs, ran the 9874 DLL installer and reinstalled the LGUP program, and everything worked.
The file is, amongst other places, on https://uptoandroid.com/download-lg-up-tool-for-lg-smartphone-latest/. Do not download DLL files for LG G4, LG V10, LG G3, LG Stylo, filename LGUP_Common_DLL_Ver_1_0_28_5 .msi, but instead For LG phones based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 SoC, filename LGUP_8974_DLL_Ver_0_5.msi:.
