Dragging apps from search bar broken Android 7? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Since Android 7 OTA, I can no longer drag an app from the home screen search bar, for example, to put it on home screen or get info / uninstall.
Maybe it's user error, but I wondered if anyone else has this problem?
It works fine if I go via main app drawer, but that's a pain.
Thanks.

I think they removed the feature from the Google Now launcher because it's also not working on my Nexus 5 running Android 6.0.1

Thank you! Thought I was going bonkers.
That sucks...it was a good feature.

[REQUEST] remove swipe up from nav bar

Was gonna post this in development but didn't wanna get flamed.
Is it possible to remove the swipe up from nav bar action?
I'm always accidentally doing that when scrolling & such. I'd like to keep Google now, just remove the shortcut.
I searched to no avail, just talk of changing the shortcut & removing Google now.
If someone could point me in the right direction ill do it myself, I just don't know where to start.
Thanks in advance for any advice! I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this..

And thank you for not doing that !
Instead of openning a new thread, u could've just posted in one of the already available Google Now threads.

Its possible, but the Google now code is not open source. So you'd have to remove it, then code an app to mimic the swipe up.
I'm not looking to use another app, just remove the shortcut all together so swiping up from the nav bar doesn't do anything at all.
I'm constantly opening Google now by mistake when scrolling

You can kinds of disable it using SwipeLaunch Disabler.
https:/play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hk.sld.SwipeLaunchDisabler
Just disable Google Search in Settings > Apps > All, no need to install anything................
If your ROM has navbar shortcuts, you can just set the shortcut for Google Now to be blank. You'll still get the ring if you swipe up, but there'll be no apps on it for you to accidentally open.

Strange...never had this problem for couple years while using custom roms.

Paranoid android pie controls problem

Hi guys,
I recently flashed paranoid android 3.99 and it has been really great. But there is one problem. Whenever I close an application with pie controls, there is a shadow of the last app that I used. Does anyone know how to fix this? This would happen if I am in a app and then while still in the app, I go to the recent apps to close all the apps but when I close the apps and I'm back at the home screen, when I go back to the recent apps, the recent apps animation activates along with a picture of the last app i used then the picture goes away and says no recent apps. Does anyone else have this issue? I would post a video but I do not know how to do to do that on a mobile device in this app. I'm on a Galaxy nexus using android 4.3.

Hello guys, I have a rooted Nexus fhd with the custom ROM. After last update 4.4.2 every time I close and reopen my nexus camera icon disappears from the right bottom corner.anyone else facing this?!any solutions?

I get the same behavior, but have yet to find a solution. It's not just the camera app though. It's any app in that spot on the dock

It happens to me since the update of Google Search, but don't know whether that's the problem.

Happens to me too, any application shortcuts on right bottom corner will disappear after reboot
Same problem
I also have the same problem
Glad to hear it's not just me. Anything I put in the rightmost dock spot disappears.

And here I thought only my Nexus was behaving funnily...Saw this behavior only with the camera icon till now. Haven't put any other shortcut in the right most slot on the dock.

This subject is covered in the General Section. The issue is the latest Google Search update. A workaround is to go into Settings/Apps and then Uninstall Updates from Google Search. It'll revert it to the version initially installed with the ROM you're using.
Hopefully Google fixes it sooner than later.

GEL just updated

The Google Search app just got a minor update, and amongst the changes are several new GEL features; a new "import from existing launchers" feature when first installed, and it now keeps the far right dock item on tablets. Its now also labeled as "Google Now Launcher" in the 'Home' tab in settings.
This all seems to be related to GEL on the Play Store, anyone agree?
The Google Now Launcher has officially launched in the play store, making my hypothesis correct. About time too! Anyways I think we should all thank the beta testers, you Nexus 5 users really did help!

I am sure it was mostly bug fixes and the things you listed above. Possible battery improvements aswell?

I haven't noticed any, but it seems to have brought a new bug, where pressing home when in the app drawer drops some FPS

Of Google Search? I'm using an outdated GoogleHome.apk anyway; since it doesn't actually do anything other than direct all action to Google Now
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Yeah I don't see why nexus 5 owners would need an import feature if it's already the stock launcher, obviously coming soon to the play store

GEL just hit the play store for GPes and Nexus devices

Thanks for the heads up. It wasn't listed as an app that needed updating but I'm guessing because it was side loaded. And strangely, I couldn't find it in a search of the App Store, I had to locate another Google app and hit the "Also by..." button.
I'm not seeing any issues so far but I am tempted to uninstall it and reinstall from the Market just in case I have any Market link issues in the future.
