CWM RECOVERY FOR THE KARBONN A18!!
Hey guys!! Finally i ported the ClockWorkMod ICS recovery (non-touch) onto our device!!

So, here are the steps on getting the CWM on Karbonn A18-
What you need
1. Karbonn A18, data usb cable.
2. Download the CWM recovery image file from the attachment below this post.
3. Download SP Flash Tool from my another post -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1353992&d=1348592592
4. Download MTK6575 Driver from -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1353943&d=1348591411
5. Download the MTK6575 Scatter.txt file from the attachment below this post.
Installation Steps-
1. Unzip and Install the MTK6575 USB drivers on your Windows PC, just run setup.exe.
Connect your phone switched off and battery removed using USB cable. Windows will recognize and install the MTK drivers for your phone (any free COM ports) will be configured. Disconnect the phone. Put the battery back but do not switch on the phone
2. Copy the CWM recovery file that you downloaded from my attatchment. Rename it to be recovery.img
4. Extract and run SP flash Tool.exe (the one with Blue image icon)
5. Click on Options, check USB mode.
6. Click on Scatter-loading button which is on the right side below Downloading Agent. A window will open. Browse to your downloaded scatter.txt file. By default you will have only one map file of name MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc. Select this
7. The flash tool will populate the Map file on the application window. You will see multiple Entries such as
PRELOADER
DSP_BL
MBR
etc etc. Each will have a check box which is by default checked.
8. UNCHECK all entries EXCEPT FOR "RECOVERY". Leave Recovery checked. Now click on the "RECOVERY" just right to the checkbox and browse and select the cwm.img file you downloaded from the attachment below.
9. Now click on "Download" on the Application or press F9 on keyboard. Warning messages will occur, but ignore them..
10. You will see in the status bar below "Searching"
11. Connect your phone (switched off and with battery inserted) via the USB cable.
12. Flash tool will do its stuff. First a red progress bar, then a count down, a quick yellow progress bar and final window showing Green Circle.
If you get this the Congrats You have flashed CWM !
Check by unplugging the phone and re-starting it with Power+Volume Down button Pressed. The Phone will boot into CWM !.
Enjoy !

In case you get any other error on SP Flash Tool, then recheck your MTK driver installation. Try on another PC.

First Check if the MTK drivers are installed, check it by going tinto the device managers hardware section in my computer
If it is proper then try connecting your phone without the battery inserted

I'm facing the same problem.. I tried with battery in and out.. have installed the drivers as well..
i ported this recovery from a ZOPO Z900 Leader chinese android handset...i tried building from source, but i failed at it because of partition style in a18...
For people facing problems flashing it through sp tools, u all can try to flash it using another pc or alternatively view this youtube video -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=969xwsUTkSY

Same problem here.

There are two recovery.img files in your attachments. recovery.img and cwmfinal.img. Which one should be used in sp flash tool?

I have successfully installed cwm on my karbonn a18.
I did it wit the help of mobileunckle tools.
What are the next motives now??
1) can we change the battery indicator at the notification area to percentage signs?

You could do that before flashing Cwm aswell.. Use rom toolbox.. I did it the day I got this phone

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Install Android USB Driver (PDAnet).
2. Turn off your phone. Then connect your phone via usb data cable.
>>> [ a ] Then an unknown device will appear instantly, it will disappear and then it will reappear. Right click on it and choose to update driver manually. Now locate the folder where your Android MT65xx PreLoader is. Then press OK / Next. If prompt, choose “INSTALL DRIVER ANYWAY” OR
>>> [ b ] Find new software mt65xx preloader. Then choose install the software from a list. Now locate the folder where your Android MT65xx PreLoader is.
**NOTE: If nothing happens after plugging then boot to recovery by TURn OFF first your ddevice then PRESS and HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button then see your notification area on your desktop then follow either [a] or above.
- Done. Now disconnect your phone from the computer. And make it sure that your phone is turned off before proceeding to step 3..
3. Extract downloaded files to one folder for easy locating of the files. Open SP Flash Tool. Then choose scatter loading.

4. Look and find the scatter text file and open it.
note: the ver of scatterfile to choose should be the same ver of your device ( ex. ur device is 2.3.6 the you should choose 2.3.6 scater file)
5. Ignore and tick OK.
6. Check the box with the name "Recovery". Then look for the downloaded recovery file.
And open it.
7. Tick Option from the menu and check USB Mode.
8. Tick the Download button. Note: Look at the image carefully before ticking the download button. Make it sure nothing else is checked.
9. Plug your cellphone via your usb cable. Then wait for it to be finish.
***NOTE: If your phone isn’t detected after plugging then boot to recovery by PRESSING + HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button THEN go back to step 2. or try to install Alcatel Android Manager
10. A yellow bar will appear. Wait for it to reach 100%.
11. Done. Congratulations. You successfully installed a "CUSTOM RECOVERY".
*****Rooting the phone******
Requirements:
- Unrooted Phone
- Accomplished the method above. Or a Custom Recovery is already Installed
- SuperUser Zip file

2. Turn Off your phone and open custom recovery by pressing and holding Power Button + Volume Up.
3. Install zip from sdcard
4. Choose zip from sdcard.
5. Choose the file downloaded. (Superuser zip file)
Then confirm update.(choose YES -Install SuperUser)
6. Reboot.
7. Look for an icon with an Android Face named "SuperUser".
8. Done. Congratulations. Your phone is now rooted.
when your done on the steps above you should UPDATE your cwm recovery( this is important for flashing CUSTOM ROMS..etc)

Help! After putting the downloaded zip file to my SD Card then turned off the phone and reboot by pressing the power button + volume up it displays the android symbol and Im stuck with it. Basically i cant open my phone. How can i fix this problem? please help!

HOW TO:

2. Turn off your phone. Then connect your phone via usb data cable.

**NOTE: If nothing happens after plugging then boot to recovery by TURn OFF first your ddevice then PRESS and HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button then see your notification area on your desktop then follow either [a] or above.
- Done. Now disconnect your phone from the computer. And make it sure that your phone is turned off before proceeding to step 3..
3. Extract downloaded files to one folder for easy locating of the files. Open SP Flash Tool. Then choose scatter loading.
4. Look and find the scatter text file and open it.
note: the ver of scatterfile to choose should be the same ver of your device ( ex. ur device is 2.3.6 the you should choose 2.3.6 scater file)
5. Ignore and tick OK.
6. Check the box with the name "Recovery". Then look for the downloaded recovery file.
And open it.
7. Tick Option from the menu and check USB Mode.
8. Tick the Download button. Note: Look at the image carefully before ticking the download button. Make it sure nothing else is checked.
9. Plug your cellphone via your usb cable. Then wait for it to be finish.
***NOTE: If your phone isn’t detected after plugging then boot to recovery by PRESSING + HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button THEN go back to step 2. or try to install Alcatel Android Manager
10. A yellow bar will appear. Wait for it to reach 100%.
11. Done. Congratulations. You successfully installed a "CUSTOM RECOVERY".

I haved followed the above procedure mentioned by u, but since then i m not getting incoming calls and and the home button also stopped working, i dont know where i made mistake but plz help me coz this is my friends phone as he was facing low memory problem so by having faith on xda i took his phone to root it and uninstall unwanted apps to free up some space.
I also tried flashing two different custom roms but it goes in boot loop and i also flashed it with stock rom again boot loop problem.

Now follow the steps
Step 1: Download Lenovo P1 Stock ROM Firmware zip file in your PC and extract it. (It includes Scatter files, SP Flash Tool, and Drivers).
Step 2: Download Lenovo USB Drivers and install it PC.
Step 3: Go to extracted folder “extracted in Step 1” > SP flash tool > you will see Flash-Tool.exe > Open this to Launch setup.
Step 4: One setup is launched Click on > Download Tab > Scatter Loading. Now locate scatter firmware file (Present firmware folder extracted in Step 1) and load it.
Step 5: Connect your device with PC via data cable Now click on Download Button / Upgrade Button (having sign of Green Arrow) to begin flash Flashing.
Step 6: Wait Until process complete. In end of Successful Flash Lenovo P1 Stock ROM Firmware, a Green dot / ring will appears.
Maybe your mobile will become working but you will not recover any data

Leave it to discharge itself (takes up to 3-4 days, on my experience) then use the steps given above. It "ressurected" my unit which was able to power up but the screen wouldn't turn on.

Instructions:-The simple way to install twrp recovery on devices,, is to unlock the bootloader..and flash the recovery through fastboot..
I'm going to show you step by step instructions to flash the twrp on moto c plus WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader or lose any data.
1. first thing u need to some files..
Download and extract my ported recovery & files from here Tools NEW G-DRIVE LINK UPDATED!!!

2.Open download tool(file provided in the above link,use provide sp_flash tool only because moto c plus have secure chip,need to authentication file,, so u cant flash through normal sp_flash tool) and load the download agent "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin" & authentication file auth_sv5.auth from download_tool folder
3.Load the scatter-file found in the provided file.. select preloader only..but don't flash it.
4. Click Alt + Ctrl + V to activate advanced mode in sp flash tool.
5.Click on "window" up there and select "write mode"
6. Change the Begin address to "0x2d80000" and click on "file path" and choose the TWRP RECOVERY.img from extracted provided zip file
7. Click on "write Memeory", then Power off your device and remove the battery.. press and hold vol- button, then connect phone to pc via USB cable.. press &hold vol- key until pc detect...wait for Write memory ok window appears,, now your recovery is ready.
8.Next insert ur battery, press vol+ and power button simultaneously.. than select recovery mode..& boot into recovery
9.In twrp recovery select install and locate SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip file in ur sd card and flash it..
10.After successful flash... hit reboot device..

It's already in the stock ROM.
Under diagnose folder you find modemdb and apdb files.
No one is gonna give those files. They are unique to each device. Send it back.
IMEI is written on the box.. I remember there was a tool for writing the same to a Karbonn phone ROM (Considering both are MediaTek).. Not sure if that will work...

i have lost my imei number and i fixed mine
1) install all drivers for Lenovo k8 Note
2) take back of our all your data
4) Switch of the Mobile and remove memory card/ SIM cards
3) Download following :
a) SP Flash tool
b) META MAUI 4G/3G
c) SN Writer-latest version
4) Start SP Flash Tool
a) Click on "Download Agent" button Choose MTK All in One file
b) Click on Scatter File button, select file from Firmware folder, where you downloaded the Stock Rom File.
Th stock ROM file may be in ZIP format. Please. Please Unzip it. Then u can see Scatter File. Please wait it to load the file. Do not connect your phone yet
c) Select Firmware Upgrade Mode in SP Flash tool. Click on OPTION in SP flash tool, select Download, Check USB CHECKSUM and STORAGE CHECKSUM box
d) Click DOWNLOAD BUTTON
e) press volume up key for 8-10 seconds and connect phone and download starts automatically.
f) Wait it to finish until you saw OK message on screen.
Disconnect your phone.

Solved , I used an older version of the SN Tool

1) install all drivers for Lenovo k8 Note
2) take back of our all your data
4) Switch of the Mobile and remove memory card/ SIM cards
3) Download following :
a) SP Flash tool
b) META MAUI 4G/3G
c) SN Writer-latest version
4) Start SP Flash Tool
a) Click on "Download Agent" button Choose MTK All in One file
b) Click on Scatter File button, select file from Firmware folder, where you downloaded the Stock Rom File.
Th stock ROM file may be in ZIP format. Please. Please Unzip it. Then u can see Scatter File. Please wait it to load the file. Do not connect your phone yet
c) Select Firmware Upgrade Mode in SP Flash tool. Click on OPTION in SP flash tool, select Download, Check USB CHECKSUM and STORAGE CHECKSUM box
d) Click DOWNLOAD BUTTON
e) press volume up key for 8-10 seconds and connect phone and download starts automatically.
f) Wait it to finish until you saw OK message on screen.
Disconnect your phone.

THE FOLLOWING METHOD IS FOR ONLY WHEN YOU LOST YOUR IMEI NUMBER OR WHEN YOU ACCIDENTALLY SELECTS FORMAT+DOWNLOAD OPTION IN SP FLASH TOOL OR ACCIDENTALLY DELETED

SHUTDOWN YOUR MOBILE AND REMOVE SD CARD/ SIM CARDS
OPEN SP FLASH TOOL
CLICK ON CHOOSE OPTION IN DOWNLOAD AGENT. it’s in the SP Flash tool Folder
CHOOSE MTK ALL IN ONE FILE. It’s in the SP Flash tool Folder
CLICK ON “CHOOSE” OPTION IN SCATTER- LOADING FILE" AND CHOOSE "SCATTER FILE" FROM FIRMWERE FOLDER WHERE YOU UNZIP THE STOCK ROM
SELECT "OPTION" BUTTON IN SP FLASH TOOL.CLICK “DOWNLOAD “OPTION. UNCHECK "USB CHECKSUM" and "STORAGE CHECKSUM" box. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE ANY OTHER OPTION
CLICK DOWNLOAD BUTTON
PRESS VOLUME UP BUTTON OF YOUR MOBILE FOR 8-10 seconds
CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO PC VIA USB CABLE AND DOWNLOAD WILL START AUTOMATICALLY
AFTER SEEING OK MESSAGE ON SP FLASH TOOL DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE
AGAIN SELECT OPTION BUTTON IN SP FLASH TOOL.CLICK DOWNLOAD OPTION--CHECK/ SELECT USB CHECKSUM and STORAGE CHECKSUM box.
THIS TIME CHOOSE FIRMWARE UPGRADE OPTION IN SP FLASH TOOL
CLICK DOWNLOAD OPTION
AGAIN PRESS VOLUME UP BUTTON OF YOUR MOBILE FOR 8-10 SECONDS
CONNECT YOUR PHONE
AFTER SEEING OK MESSAGE ON SP FLASH TOOL .DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE
DON'T START YOUR PHONE YET
START META MAUI 4G/3G (AS ADMINISTRATOR)
PRESS RECONNECT DEVICE OPTION
CONNECT YOUR PHONE AND PRESS POWER ON BUTTON
YOU CAN SEE META MODE ON YOUR MOBILE SCREEN
WAIT FOR IT UNTIL THE BLINKING BUTTON TURN INTO YELLOW
GO TO FIRMWARE FOLDER OR WHERE YOU UNZIPPED THE STOCK ROM AND NAVIGATE TO DIAGNOSIS FOLDER
SELECT MODEMDB.ZIP FILE AND EXTRACT IT
SELECT IMEI OPTION IN META MAUI
CLICK ON CHANGE NV RAM DATABASE
CLICK YES OPTION TO SELECT MANUALLY (it will show some errors. just ignore it)
GO TO LOCATION WHERE YOU EXTRACTED MODEMDB.ZIP FILE AND SELECT MDDB_InfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6797_S00_MANNING_V20_1_ulwctg_n.EDB FILE
Warning: don't use any other modemdb file or u will not be able to write the NVRAM DATABASE and IMEI number. You have to select the same modem.db file of the firmware your flashing your phone with
IT WILL SHOW ERROR ABOUT VERSION. JUST IGNORE IT.
YOU SEE MESSAGE IN MAUI NVRAM DATABASE FILE INIT SUCCESSFULLY
ENTER YOUR IMEI NUMBER (don’t worry the last digit of imei number will automatically generated
I STRONGLY ADVISE TO ENTER YOUR ORIGINAL IMEI NUMBERS
CLICK DOWNLOAD TO FLASH
CLICK ON SAVE FILE.FOR FUTURE USE AND PUT IT IN SAFE PLACE WHERE U CAN EXCESS IT.
WHEN FINISHED CLICK DISCONNECT" OPTION

NAVIGATE TO DIAGNOSIS FOLDER
SELECT APDB.TAR EXTRACT IT
CLICK ON AP_DB FILE AND GO TO LOCATION WHERE YOU EXTRACTED APDB.TAR FILE AND SELECT APDB_MT6797_S01_alps-mp-n1.mp9_W17.39
SELECT SAVE OPTION
SELECT CHANGE COMPORT OPTION TO USB VCOM
CHANGE TARGET TYPE TO SMART PHONE
CLICK ON START
ENTER YOUR 12 DIGIT BLUETOOTH / WIFI ADDRESS
