Nah -- no need, the kernel I maintain has over nearly 1500 mods from the base kernel at this point, so starting from scratch isn't in the cards of reality or necessity (I just merge in samsung fixes as they become available).
As for a new kernel folks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68957173&postcount=188
Have fun! Works like a champ with Stock, and if we ever get time to make some custom ROMs, it'll work with those too.

Load PG3 via Odin, take the update, done.
I would guess that the TAR file won't be available for at least another week, maybe longer.
When it is, I will post the link (Android File Host, fast download) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862

[Firmware] Xperia S - Stock SG-Generic - 6.1.A.2.55 {1257-6921} & Root

29-Nov:
Download the rooted /system partition that can be flashed using CWM.
Filename: LT26i_6.1.A.2.55 - Rooted.zip
MD5: 6abb451356a15ebb45e994865a56c26f
Size: 380 MB (398,569,858 bytes)
After successfully flashed, you will have 'root' with CWM installed. All others are pure stock.
Instructions:
* You need to have a previously rooted firmware with CWM installed. Good way to start is to have .45 firmware or .50 firmware and rooted.
* You need to have CWM installed
* Reboot to CWM and flash the zip file. (As always, make a backup and don't blame me if something goes wrong)
* After flashing is complete, power down the device and use flashtool to flash the latest Kernel and Baseband from .55 firmware (you can download the full firmware from below, but only flash Kernel and Baseband, otherwise you will loose root)
* Once completed, reboot and let the ROM settle down and there you go, you have the rooted latest firmware.
If you aren't getting CWM, follow this!
Thanks to pcarvalho for his original zip file.

You can flash this without losing any data!
If you uncheck the "wipe userdata" box in Flashtool before flashing, you will not lose any data. You can convert from any customization to this one without any problems!
To flash this, follow the following steps:
For starters, make sure you have the latest Flashtool installed. If you have issues with Flashtool, make sure you also have PC Companion or Sony Update Service installed.
Download the .ftf file to your computer and place it in the Flashtool\Firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool and click the lightning bolt in the menu bar.
Select Flashmode and click OK
Select the right firmware in the left column (LT26i_6.1.A.2.55_SG Generic (1257-6921).ftf).
Check or uncheck "Wipe User Data". If selected, all user data will be deleted. If you want to update or change customization without losing data, uncheck it.
Click OK and wait for the instruction to unplug the device, ...
Turn your phone OFF, and plug it in while keeping the volume down button pressed.
Follow the steps in the main window of Flashtool, wait until the flashing is done.
Note: I'm providing this as it is and I'm not responsible if something goes wrong! Flash it at your own risk!!

Seems bit snappier. Not rootable via Bin4ry method . New baseband and seems like a new compiled Kernel. Nothing noticeable other than that at the moment.

Use advanced stock kernel, and when flashing, exclude kernel in Flashtool. Then fastboot flash only kernel.sin from the ftf.

I think you left some debug flags turned on,making a a backup prints this "debug info begining, after end_pos,getting bkp path and part, call backup_partitioon", i know this is whats going on ddms, but normal users will get confused with msgs ;p
Indeed, my brain seems to hang sometimes
Is added to my To Do list, the next release should be clean of debug messages (needed them to find out why the backups were frozen - simply put, had to exec make clobber before building a new recovery image )
@TheSSJ
Don't know if it can be useful, but tried a couple of things with this recovery.
Wipe function is currently working (done factory reset twice).
Backup is working.
Having some issues with Restore function, even downgrading to the v.2.8.5.0: it worked only twice against about 10 attempts.
No sideload, but I'm sure you already know it.
I'm on a ze550ml.
Take it as a feedback, hope it helps!
ps. wanted to post on the main thread, couldn't do it because have not enough posts on XDA
@rgykes: Thanks for your valuable input! Yeah, restoring a backup takes a huge while...my restores take about 250-300 seconds (almost 5 minutes ), but as we are talking about a volume of +2GB I think it is okay. Oddly, every restore operation of mine succeeded (at least with my latest release)? Will test it a little and keep an eye on it, thanks again!
Tests on Nokia N1.
Tethered boot with TWRP: YES
TOUCHSCREEN: YES
FLASH ZIP: YES
BACKUP/RESTORE: NO
error message: just start backup and stay 0% for ever
MOUNT USB STORAGE: NO
error message: E: unable to find storage partition to mount to USB

Yep, makes sense If you have the possibility to get a recovery.fstab for the Nokia N1 it would also Backup and Restore for you (USB Storage seems not such an easy task, even if the correct LUN file was provided)

yes man, using last release of your recovery. When everything goes fine, same time for me as well for the restore operation; otherwise, I've waited till half an hour with no results, had to reboot the system. At least, no error messages, it just seems to be stuck. Don't know if it can be helpful, but I'll post a screenshot as soon as it happens again.

If yes, I would need to re-inspect my boardconfig as the other Intel TWRP creators do not have these issues. I kind of do not think that the Zenfone 2 is so much different than the other Intel based devices...
I, too, am having issues with lagging and freezing. I am wondering if tethered TWRP does not have sufficient write privileges to the phone.

I dont know if this is a help but i use eur.miui version, and 6.7.28 / 6.8.4 / 6.8.11 didnt give me any of the issues you describe.

I can feel youre frustration, and you did try both sim slots on the phone?
Did you try a baseband different from youre country, sounds stupid but just to try ( not working now either )

Yes it works for me.
Sometimes you have to reset your charger by plugging it out an in. Happens sometimes to me but nothing groundbreaking

Yea. Figured that when I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in. I'm actually loving this rom.
I just had an issue with the game that I am playing(PUBG mobile). The battlegrounds advanced graphics tool which allows me to force the game to run at 60fps is not working on this rom. Whenever I apply the settings and open the game, the phone reboots but other than that everything is amazing!

Really?!
You claim there's reboots but provide no logs or providing me with information about what you were doing when a reboot is happening. Can't fix a "reboot problem" without knowing the toot cause

calm down. he is always like that. just short words with no content
Rom is very smooth and usable at the moment. I'm excited about the next update and what's its going to bring.
Though I found two possible bugs but it could be my phone acting up:
1) Trying to cut and move files to the SD card in the Files app causes a reboot.
2) Spotty/no sound coming out of Bluetooth headphones when on the phone or trying to make a call.
Overall, thanks for creating this ROM and keeping the S7 alive!
Loving it.
Thank you so much!
