Changing DPI of the G4 Plus? - Moto G4 Plus Themes, Apps, and Mods

I read that I can change the DPI without root. What's your DPI? Do you have some screenshots? Thanks!

you will require root access for making changes to root files (build.rprop)

Stock is 401 dpi on the G4 Plus. Why did you want to change it to 400? 1 pixel less?

Not true. All G4 plus have the same resolution of 401 dpi stock. See here: http://www.knowreviewtip.com/specs-price/motorola-moto-g4-plus/

Yes but in the built.prop it's 480....so system works accordingly.

Ok. I See. Does 400 dpi work with all apps?

Everything works flawlessly with dpi set as 400.

I tried 440 dpi and it broke the camera focus, twitter images and some other stuff, 400 will probably mess a lot of stuff up, unfortunately..
I'd really want to use it set to 400 too, guess I'll wait for nougat

I also have Camera error, "Please restart Camera error". tried clearing cache/data and reboot and same issue.
Not sure if its from changing DPI or something else. I'm just at a lost as to what to do next

actually not bro..turbo charger supports both fast as well as normal charging for supported soc's. it actually change the current according to ur device temperature....
the latest qualcomm has made severe changes inside turbo powered charger which couldn't able to stabilize the input voltage fluctuations. and that is why we all expirence ghost touch... i even checked my socket with Multimeter...hell yeah that was true....
atlast ive plugged stock moto turbo charger to the stabilizer, believe it or not i played nova 3 for exactly 44 mins beside charge was on !
so this caused ghost touch !
hope you understood

Just Got My ZL , Should i Update??

Just got my ZL on the Bell Network. It came with Android 4.1.2
Should I update the software? Im not interested in Rooting it yet, just wanna try it out for a few weeks stock.
I just don't know whether I should or not, from reading the threads seems like 4.2.2 is kinda Buggy.

Well I'm for one just updated to 4.2.2...the difference is that I know of is the memory card capacity is upgraded to 64GB..and the lock screen is a bit different..they put up a window for apps..an small apps icon is simpler but boring looking...and somehow, the camera is producing not impressive result...my xperia t and iphone 4 produce finer detail than my zl...wonder why...hmm
Haven't really had any issues with 4.2.2

No problems on eXistenz rom, pretty smooth especially with Nova launcher. I've found stock launcher to be buggy and laggy, as well once root access is available you can modify files that will promote speed, better ram access, wake lock detector to avoid draining apps that are useless, etc. On average I get 4 hours of screen time with around 20-30 hours of standby with typical use of music, texting, internet, etc.
the people who have 4.2.2 can tell if the max resolution of the camera is 13 MPX ? ore 12MPX.

[APP] Active Display (acDisplay)

As you know there are many "Active Diplay" alternatives like Dynamic Notifications.
Although this one might give you a lot less options, it works like a charm, really!
Especially on our Moto G's )
The app has it's own power-management (timer function, etc) for non-amoled screens so it actually takes a very little of your battery.
The developer already announced that a huge amount of features are coming up, so for the ones who are searching for a more
"vanilla" like Active Display experience, should really try this one out.
You can get it through the playstore by following the link below:

Or join the community to become a beta tester:

Can some one confirm if it works with Moto G Flipcover. I tested it and it did not work.
Wouldnt this app drain a lot of battery ? The idea of active display (MotoX) was that with the AMOLED only the pixels needed would be turned on... Something that could not be do on the G (it does not use an AMOLED screen)
PD: i did read the post, but the question remains, how it works for it not to drain a lot of battery

I was afraid of this too, BUT...
I have it working for 3 days now, and you'll be actually surprised how less battery it takes!
Sure it takes a bit more then when you have an amoled screen, but because of the slim timer etc you wouldn't even notice any difference with or without it.
Do you think it's useful?

The Motorola Droid Mini has got a LCD display but ActiveDisplay of motorola is compatible with this but i believe that behaves differently to the moto x.. it isn't always awake the display , but only when there is a notification.

Yup, we need something like a count about time, so every tot minutes notification appears again. For now for me it's pretty unuseless only when notification arrives. I mean what is in this sense the utility?
I hope in this feature really. Good app.
It's no use to me, until it can replace the lockscreen.

Hi there. I've been using the phone for about a month. (1.5GB 13mp version)

Open Camera (you can find it here on XDA) and the full version of Camera FV-5. Both work well but sometimes you have to take a few shots to adjust the exposure correctly.
Thanks, will look into them, phone should arrive this week.

Hello iPp350z,
Do you test the GPS? Because i'm between K10 (K420N)and LG Zero (H650E). And on test here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/
LG H650E have little more accurate GPS.
But K10 look better

Sure, no problem, I'll test it. Any specific app that you prefer? From my experience the GPS locks almost instantly and is quite accurate but I haven't done any specific tests.
Yeah, it looks way better than the H650E and it also has a bigger screen while being almost the same size. That was the main reason I bought it. The camera also takes great photos in daylight but night photos are terrible.
Well I have the t-mobile (US) version, and it has ups and downs.
UP:
1) The 1.5 GB of ram helps keep things snappy.
2) It actually received security updates. I'm. Only 2 months behind the Nexus phones, which is pretty good for a carrier branded phone.
3) Display is nicely bright.
4) SD card support
5) Removable battery.
6) $165.
DOWN:
1) 8 MP camera,
2) No USB OTG support
3) I've had 3 times where the phone audio didn't work at all. Had to reboot to get it back.
4) Screen size a little.large for me to type in landscape.
The only one I care about is the call audio issue...

Battery Capacity in CPU-Z

DPI (Dots Per Inch) is different to PPI (Pixel Per Inch)
I just don't know how to explain the difference.

Oh come on. Did you even read the context? I know what PPI/DPI refer to "technically", but we are talking about screen densities, not image files or printer capabilities. I've worked with digital images for over 3 years now.
And to quote your link,
DPI only refers to the printer.

We were talking about screens, and why a pixel per inch there is not the same as dots per inch. To be more specific, how is it possible for a screen to have 401 DPI and 480 DPI .

Try aida64. It is accurate. See the screenshots. And ppi is the actual 'hardware' pixels per square inch, versus the dpi which is more of the 'software' depth per square inch; meaning it is more like a resolution (customizable). Google is your friend!

Flar2, who's one of the best kernel Devs out there, and came up with HBM (high brightness mode) has said that's it not yet possible because of the LG panels that the P2XL uses. So I'm afraid your outa luck for a while bruh ?

Has anyone found a mod to raise the brightness... Anything out there. HBM only pushes to Max Brightness and doesn't support Pixel 2 XL. And I've heard about the screen burn in issues. Obviously it'd be at my own risk as with any mods on these forums.
Greatly appreciated for any support.

No mod as of yet, unfortunately! I know flar2, the Dev for Ex kernel and the app has been trying. However, doesn't sound like the LG panels are conducive to this mod
