Retrieve data from LG Quick Memo for a non LG device? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Let me start by saying that after searching a bit, I've come to the conclusion that there is no way to run the LG Quick memo app on non LG devices.
Here's the story:
The LCD-Digitizer on my G3 (D580) suddenly died. When the screen displayed, but was just unresponsive to touch, I was able to work around it by operating the phone via USB OTG cable and mouse. But suddenly, it stopped even displaying anything, which is frustrating because I took excellent care of it (no water damage/shock damage, always had it in a rugged case with screen protector). Anyway. I've switched over to a Huawei Honor 8, IMHO the most affordable flagship.
What I miss most from my G3 are the notes that I know I synced to an email address in the LG note app. Any ideas on how I can view those again without access to my G3? I can't afford to repair the screen because the part is so expensive!
Am I the only one with this issue? I'd appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks!

Even though I never got a response, I figured out my own workaround and I'm so relieved that I'll pay it forward.
The solution that worked for me:
If you had the foresight to sync your memos before you lost screen functionality, then getting them back is as simple as walking into a T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon store and using an LG device on display (or borrowing a friend's). I didn't really think about it, my syncing was more like dumb luck than foresight to be honest, but ANYWAY
Sign into the Quick Memo Plus app on the LG device that you have access to and use your backup/retrieval method of choice. I can confirm that LG G3, G4, G5, and K10 have Quick Memo Plus but there may be other LG devices that will do the job. The only reason that this is an issue is because LG Quick Memo Plus is an app that will only work on some LG devices. It's not available in the Play Store and even if you have the apk, it will not install on non-LG devices. (Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong, it has something to do with odexes and the LG framework)
Once I was able to view my memos, I went through them one-by-one and copied the most irreplaceable ones to an email draft. Took a few minutes but it was worth it. Be sure to sign out of the display phone/your friend's phone before you leave and be sure that the notes are not viewable even after you sign out. I know that even after I signed out of Google, the memos were still viewable on the display phone, so I had to select them all and delete them from that phone.
I hope that this helps if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation.

Instead of hand-copying memos to an email, you can export the entire note collection and email that. It exports to a .lqm file, which is only really openable with QuickMemo+, but it's also in plaintext, so you can open it with a text editor and see your notes. This is a good idea only if you have several dozens of notes you want to recover just need to store the text.

LG QuickMemo+ issue with using other devices
I've been scouring the internet for something that'll let me log into QuickMemo+ online or another app. I came across this & I'm glad I didn't have to spend countless hours looking for a solution! Thank you so much! ??

Why just dont use google keep... That problems is enougs reason not to use anything specific to LG. Like lg backup etc...

Can anyone here pls provide instructions for how to send my entire notes?
I have an LG G7 & I'd like to keep my QuickMemo+ notes for the future in either my gmail or a google type app in case my phone dies. I read the instructions provided by someone in this thread but I am not a techie so they were missing a few "steps for morons" lol that I need. Can anyone dumb it down and write it out more fully? Thank you so much!

Here are some basic instructions

So what you can simply do is extract the .lqm by 7zip or winrar or any app of the sorts you will get a couple of folders which are images, drawings, videos and audios. But what interests us is the memoinfo.jlqm which you can rename the file and changes the extension into a .txt so it'd become memoinfo.txt which can be opened with almost any text viewing app. Now there will be a lot of "garbage" but within the "garbage" the text that was in the memo will be there. And that's it if you want the text but I don't know whether or not the photos or audio files are saved normally or in a proprietary format. Hope this helped.

Phone's back from the dead. Any ways to retrieve information that's been formatted?

Hi guys,
anyone's who's read my posts would know my phone died recently due to zero battery and going through the boot loop cycle continuously. After leaving it overnight for 2 days on a iPad charger, it came back on again. My phone's done a hard reset, and I was wondering if there are any softwares available to retrieve the information in it. I know there're tools to retrieve information from hard drives that have been formatted, and would appreciate if any of you know of a tool that can get my photos out of my phone. Thanks in advance.

Well, that greatly depends on how thorough you're hoping this will be. Anything synced through Zune should be available, anything replicated to the cloud should be available (Windows Live ID, if you have an exchange server, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, etc.) - but any game data is pretty much lost. In general, any applications that store info locally is pretty much lost AFAIK.
There's an application in Marketplace called Reinstaller that identifies apps you've already installed and helps you loop through them to, well, surprise surprise, re-install them. It's quite useful, here's the link in the Marketplace: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/search?q=Reinstaller

Thanks for the reply. My phone ran out of juice pretty much right after my trip to Taiwan, where I took quite a few photos. I didn't have time to sync it with my computer before it died. It's those photos I wish to retrieve. Any other suggestions?
My buddy who has an iPhone told me that in order to retrieve information from the iPhone, it needs to first be jailbreaked. That way we can bypass the phone's OS and connect to the hard drive directly. Obviously it's a long shot as any software would still need to retrieve what's been formatted over, but I wonder if it holds true in our case as well. Will I need to 'jailbreak' my phone first?

Thanks again, eknuston.
I did a search online, and came across 2 photo recovery tools, which spelt out were meant for the Lumia 900.
The Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery
http://android-photo-recovery.com/tutorials/recover-deleted-photos-videos-from-nokia-lumia-900.html
Photo Recovery Pro
http://android-photo-recovery.com/tutorials/recover-deleted-photos-videos-from-nokia-lumia-900.html
Unfortunately, both tools could not recognize our phones in the drive directory. That's when I realized that Windows 7 does not allow our phones to be used as removable drives.
I've since cracked the registry (using this tutorial)
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/11/18/use-your-windows-phone-7-device-as-a-portable-usb-drive/
My computer could recognize the phone, but the directories were empty. So I installed this:
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/11/18/use-your-windows-phone-7-device-as-a-portable-usb-drive/
and I can now access the current files in my phone.
HOWEVER, I STILL AM UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE ERASED FILES, as the 2 softwares are still unable to recognize the phone as a drive, despite the fact that the file explorer can.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do next (other than forget about the files, get a new phone, etc.). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I forgot to mention that 'Computer Management' under Window's Administrative Tools, can't find the phone too. I suspect they're linked..
4th link?
Did you mean for the 4th link to be the same as the 3rd? I am trying to follow your steps to see if I can access my files but I am not sure what did you install in order to see your current files after the registry change. Thanks.
Formatted data recovery
Hi
You can recover formatted data using best media recovery software. Using this software I was able to restore digital data from formatted usb flash drive. So, you can download demo version of this software and check it.

Hey guys, just stop posting BS about "flash drive recovery"...
Lumia 900 isn't a flash drive and can't be restored this way (it works via Zune drivers, and shows not an actual "drive" but just some "virtual folders").
Finalizing: MCChang, you can't recover lost pics or any other info. And I can give the only one suggestion: next time if you want to keep your pics/info, use clouds (WP7 have ability to automatically upload pictures to the SkyDrive).

[Q] Broken Digitaliser- How do i access phone's data?!

Hi guys, please help!
HTC Desire Z. Completely stock and unrooted etc. The screen stopped responding a few days ago, so I figure its a broken digitaliser or the connecting thingie between the two panels is broken.
So now I can't get past my screen lock...
When I connect it to my computer, my phone is set to 'Charge only', so my computer doesn't react at all to the phone being plugged in (it does charge though).
I've spent the last few hours reading through various methods online and they've all been bunk. I have managed to install SDK/ADB, but I can't figure out how to use it without turning on USB debugging (or if that would even help).
Anyone have any ideas? I really really need to get some messages/photos off my phone.
I don't think anyone here is allowed to tell you how to use adb to get past a lock screen, I've seen these questions before and mods tend to lock the thread.
But going with you are an honest person what do you need off of your phone that isn't synced to the cloud or on SD card?

Thanks for replying! I tried using adb but couldn't figure a way without having USB debugging enabled (which it isn't).
Basically I just came back from a holiday with a phone which is when it broke- and I made some really great friends who I asked to send me a text with their name/email (as my phone wasn't working), and so yeah I just need to read these few texts/find them on facebook! Pretty minor I know.
unfortunately i think it is against the rules to give you the information on how to, but i will say much of this is available on the internet though you have to dig rather deep (simple search wont pick it up)
may i suggest getting the digitizer replaced, if you do it yourself it will be under 20$ and about an hour of your time. or find a local repair shop to do it for 50 or less im sure.
and for future reference keeping debugging on is a good idea as well as rooting the phone, you will find this time of thing much easier. also using apps like sms backup+ can sync all text, call log etc direct to gmail account so you could loose your phone and still receive them. sorry i cant help much further than this

[Q] How to write an app

Ok its not note2 specific just that I have a note 2....
I need to create an app that can read a text, send a text, and read/write a file from an external usb stick, it sounds easy but.....
So I'm open to suggestions as to what IDE/toolchain I should be aiming at, I have wrote ''an app'' that does this, but its actually in picbasic and runs on a pic 18f2550 with a serial modem and internal flash
I want to do away with the pic/modem and just an android phone.
One other thing, the file on the usb stick, the usb stick isnt, its actually a controller for other hw devices, i just make the controller appear to usb as mass storage as that makes a simple text file an easy way for it to communicate, if its possible...I'd sooner make the controller appear as a serial coms device like the 9600 8n1 standard but I dont know if i could get away with that via OTG where as I know OTG can read write a text file..
I haven't started playing with it yet, but you might find Intellij Idea to be a tool you can learn to use.
For Open Source Projects it's free.

Thanks, I'm not too bothered what I write it in anything from C to zx81basic would do the job, its just getting it into a form the phone can execute

If I were you, I would check out Tasker on the play store. Theres a huge following with tons of available and customizeable profiles.
If you haven't heard of it, it's an extremely powerful app that allows you to write (or apply) various profiles to automate almost anything, whether youre a beginner or advanced user.

I half agree, but for a generic question like this, it's much more effective to ask in a community of mobile enthusiasts who might have a little more insight. Imo.

Thanks guys, I just had a look at app inventor and it made me want to cry...
I'm used to c/basic/asm (dare I say cobol, well i am 46....) so anything drag and drop I find infuriating/restrictive/non intuative, even tough there supposed to simple to use, I find them not...
you will no doubt be aware of such apps as prey, find my droid, wavesecure, they all can read an incoming text for a keyword and if present perform an action, thats similar to what i am trying to achive, well its part of it etc
easiest way to simplify this is imagine a lighthouse for boats, I need to be able to send a message to my phone at the top of a lighthouse, to turn the light on. I also need to be able to query the light status.
now doing this with a arduino/pic and a bag of relays was no biggy, what was the issue was the phone was connected via its connector running serial data at 9600 and modem AT protocols from the 1970's....
this all worked fine, 100% working, but the phones had the issue that after a random amount of days they would stop responding to commands, but would say 'ok' to every command given...
so replaced with a modem module and a seperate 2 line lcd, this worked fine, but put the cost up....
so decided that as old android phones with damaged screens are often very cheap, and most support OTG, the way is open to try doing this once again, using the phone to receive a text, reply to the text, and control the light by writing out a txt file to the ''usb mass storage stick'' thats simply light.txt and is a txt file containing the word 'on' 'off' or 'status'
The pic controller which is happy to pretend to be USB storage, and look for this file, and take the required action, if it sees 'on' or 'off' it simply toggles a pin to on or off, if its 'status' it sense the light, and creates a file of answer.txt with 'yes' or 'no' as content
the app can look for the answer.txt, and depending on it being 'yes' or 'no', send a replay text with 'ok' or 'bring a spare bulb'
of course I dont have a lighthouse, but you see what i'm trying to achive with an android phone over the old working but unreliable T68i (I have a few of them about a dozen left I think, all have same firmware bug)
Wow. I hope you're not making anything dangerous. SMS text `cancel'. SMS text `bang'.
Seriously though, I'm 44. So respect to any middle-aged dudes in the house. :good:

Lol no its a replacement for a circuit that of all things originally started with a motorola startac and a relay across button '5' to dial help
I dont want to be too open about the 'final design' as I want to present it to the forum as a working prototype that others can copy/use and dont want beating to the finish etc.
I've put many years of work into this on and off, even bought 20 2nd hand phones for the 'beta test' which then 'cancelled' due to the phones not being able to be left on 24/7 without locking up, and i killed a few making them 'battery free' and some more making a reboot circuit that just pulled power which they didnt like happening too often, so I abandoned it till now, I now think I'm onto a winner with the new 'design'

Learning My T-Mo D851 on ATT. Musings of a stranger in a strange land...

Hi everyone,
I'm the new owner of an unlocked T-Mo D851, and will be using it on AT&T. I bought the T-Mo version instead of the ATT version due to the unlocked bootloader and better Dev support. Love those Devs!
I figured I'd post a thread with the things I learn along the way, to help others that might benefit, particularly since I'm joining the G3 community long after the novelty has worn off. Folks like me that join have a lot of past experience to review here, and so much is out of date it can be intimidating, particularly when our new device acts a lot different from our old one. I hope this thread helps someone, but at minimum it will serve as documentation for me to refer back to, should I need that. I'll include links where appropriate.
I'm an intermediate level flasher, having worked with maybe 6-8 other phones/tablets. So, I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to have an ego to bruise. My most recent phone was a T-Mo Galaxy S4. But I dropped it, and cracked the screen, just a few weeks after getting it all settled in with a nice 5.1.1 GPE ROM. Sigh.
I got the phone a few days ago but have just gotten around to working on it.
On day 1 I charged it up, skipped setup (touch corners, upper left, upper right, lower right above the softkeys, lower left above the softkeys... took 10 tries or so!), and connected the wifi (no sim card inserted yet). It immediately found update 20E (it shipped with kitkat). I let that update, but was surprised it didn't find the current 20G update. I want to make sure I start with the latest firmware/modems etc. installed.
In this thread, helpful user @mitbit2k3 pointed me to the online LG site that lets you download the LG Mobile Support Tool. It also gives instructions for installing the PROPER PC connection driver for the phone which works, versus the default Win7 driver that doesn't work for the purposes of the update. With proper driver installed, and with USB connection in the right mode (follow instructions to set the phone USB settings), I got up to 20G stock.
I exercised the phone a bit (still without SIM card) and made sure everything worked... cameras, GPS, wifi, etc.
Then I figured it would be time to install TWRP and take it from there. Much to my surprise, you need to root this thing FIRST. Even with an unlocked bootloader, you can't just fire up ODIN and flash TWRP.
I did my research on the forum and through Google... with all the versions of software since release there were numerous descriptions of how to root the thing, some of which were outdated. For me, on 20G software (5.01 Android), this worked fine:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/3n0nk1/new_super_easy_oneclick_way_to_root_g3/
it references back to XDA of course:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
From this I learned to review the top level LG G3 subforums, not just the T-Mobile XDA subforums!!
OK, that rooted me just fine and installed SuperSU. I was able to use the "first way" which is super simple.
With that done, I was able to install TWRP. I went straight to the source for it:
https://twrp.me/devices/lgg3tmo.html
I used the "dd" method which involves running ADB on the PC. I use a version that is a "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" that works fine... I used it to mess around with my Shield tablet previously, so I was familiar with it. Basically you run the minimal ADB through a desktop icon, and it loads a command line interface. You type ADB Shell after plugging in the phone to the USB cable (it has to be on, developer options enabled, debugging enabled). Then you type the commands listed on the TWRP site. Pretty soon TWRP is installed.
Next I had to figure out how to get into download mode. Yeah, yeah... power plus volume down... been there done that, but on the LG you have to boot with power/down, then when the LG icon comes up you release for a second, then press the two keys again, then at the next screen tell it you want to wipe the phone, and confirm this again on the next screen. THEN it finally boots into TWRP. Kinda scary. And getting the keys right takes some practice.
Once in TWRP, I backed everything up (including EFS partition) to an external SD card, just in case I messed something up. I had previously erased the SD card from within the phone's SEttings/Storage mode, to make sure it would be able to be accessed. No problem.
So now I've got a rooted phone, with TWRP installed, and the next step is to figure out what I want to do ROM wise. I wish there were a 5.1.1 GPE stock + LG Camera ROM. But I haven't found one. I like plain ROMs. The default stock ROM, even if it were debloated, its a bit annoying to me (and just 5.0.1) so I'll probably move to BlissPop or Slim something, but I will research around.
It's time to stick my SIM in and see how the phone does on AT&T. I'd like to get a baseline before I go ROM-hopping.
I will say that on stock ROM, with no SIM but WIFI on, the standby power drain on this thing is incredible. It went overnight (7 hours) and was still reading 100%. A whole 24 hours in, it was only a few percent lower. Of course, I hadn't attached any Google accounts, so the phone was truly idle, but it's very impressive nonetheless.
Stay tuned. I'll be updating this as I go along.
OK, I'm a few hours in.
No problem with my ATT SIM card in the phone; the phone was purchased unlocked and everything hooked up fine as soon as I entered in the APN information for ATT (which you can get from here).
The phone gave me a warning about WIFI Calling invalid SIM; I went into the settings and turned off WIFI calling, since I'm on ATT and only T-Mo offers it.
One other problem I haven't sorted out yet is that I get a text each time I reboot the phone, apparently my phone is sending a text to a very long address 060504071000004163.... and the text I get back is an error message that this isn't a valid number. Not sure how to turn this off. Annoying, but once per boot won't kill me until I figure it out. Google will likely be my friend. EDIT: I think this relates to T-mo visual voicemail. I went into the T-Mo Visual Voicemail app and I immediately got another one of these texts. Time to remove this app...
Meanwhile I notice the WIFI reception of this phone is much stronger than the S4. On the other hand, it seems less likely to drop a weak WIFI in favor of a stronger one... I have several access points around my house, and I've found I've needed to switch them manually now and then. Haven't had to do this on the S4.
I'm also struggling to get restores to work from my Backup Your Mobile app. I moved the backup onto an SD card in the G3, but the app isn't recognizing it. Uh oh. That's got my MMS/SMS/Call log backups. So, I've still got things to work on.
I gradually entered my various Google accounts, and let Play Store download the updates needed for all the apps. I've got about 75% of the apps I use re-downloaded.
I've got one "serious" problem in that the Play Store says the ATT Visual Voicemail app, which is a cornerstone of how I use the phone (because it transcribes voicemails into readable text), isn't compatible with my phone. That's crap. It worked fine on my T-Mo S4 (running a generic GPE edition). I'll probably have to sideload the app, but it's annoying that it's locked out.
Making progress.
I still couldn't download the ATT Visual Voicemail app from the Play Store, and went stir crazy trying to find it on my S4 (which is rooted, so I should be able to find it, but...). I went haring off in lots of directions, including making a full apps backup with Helium, but then the G3 won't restore without using the PC app due to changes in 5.0... which is weird because my S4 (which is running a 5.1.1 GPE ROM) restores fine. I don't have the PC app installed so I tried using Backup My Mobile... but then eventually figured out that on the S4, with ES File Explorer, I not only had Root Explorer OFF (didn't know I had to turn it on), but it's easy to find apps with the APP Library. Once I found the app there, I uploaded it to my Google Drive, then downloaded it from there onto the G3. It installed fine.
I used System App Remover (which requires root) to get rid of all the T-Mobile specific apps and that annoying Lookout security program. Bah! This cured that spurious text message I get with each boot. It was definitely due to the T-mo visual voice mail. Problem solved!
In using the phone, I'm a bit bummed because it didn't occur to me that a big part of my bigger screen as compared to the GS4 would be taken up by the softkeys on screen. The S4 has a physical home button and capacitive keys to either side. So, my screen isn't effectively much bigger, when I account for dedicating some of it to the buttons. You can make the buttons autohide, apparently. One issue is I use my phone in landscape much of the time, and the buttons don't rotate to the new "bottom" of the screen when I rotate. Gotta figure that out.
This morning I installed the PC Helium App so I could enable backup/restore access on the G3. That worked fine, but Helium on the G3 still doesn't detect my external SD card, in order to restore from it. I could manually copy files over to the internal Carbon folder, and restores from there worked fine. Still, I'm not sure why I'm having so much SD Card angst. I know things change each version of Android wrt SD cards... maybe something is fixed in 5.1.1 (as I had on my S4) that is broken in 5.01 on the G3.
So, I've got some tweaking to do from here. The phone is basically set up and working fine except for some straggler apps that I won't bother with until I need them, with one major exception: I need to go in and set up Light Flow. That app is a big part of how I manage notifications on any phone...
If you rooted your phone, then download and run the SDFix app from the Play Store. Apps will then have the ability to write to the external SD card...

... and yes, it also works w/ Lollipop.

Thanks. I'll give this a whirl!
EDIT: WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Thanks again! And thanks for the link, because there were several SDFix apps. The link made sure I got the one you intended.:good:
OK, I'm in a pretty good place after making some changes. Still plenty to tweak though.
First, I decided to abandon the stock Home launcher. It was a bit annoying with little UI tweaks LG made that make it just not how I expect it to look, but the kicker was that in landscape mode, the titles of the icons were not readable... they were mostly cut off. I use Rotate (Ultimate Rotation) so pretty much every screen including home is rotatable. But LG Home maintains in landscape mode the little dots representing the various home screen pages... these take up just enough room so that things get squished a bit and the titles cut off. Couldn't figure out how to disable that, so just bailed and installed Google Now Launcher which fixed me right up. That fixed the look and feel of the home screen, the apps drawer, and even reverted settings to the normal views I'm used to.
The only problem is that it kills double tap to sleep... or at least reduces the footprint of the double-tappable area to the notification strip at the top. Sigh. In another thread someone mentioned using Greenify to fix it. I'll try that when I get a chance.
Another weird thing I've got going on is that when I connect via Bluetooth to my car, it starts playing music. See this thread. That's pretty annoying... for now I deleted the default music that was playing, and with an empty directory nothing plays.
I put on a screen protector last night. I got the 0.2mm iCarez one. I performed the application in a steamy bathroom after running the hot shower for a bit, per some tips over in the Accessories thread. I left the backing on, positioned the glass on the screen, taped one side for the "hinge method" after getting it perfectly aligned and accounting for the eventual loss of thickness of the plastic underbacking, cleaned everything one last time with the alcohol wipe, peeled the backing, and plopped it on starting in the center. Got it perfectly positioned and no major bubbles. There were a couple of "spec sized" non-uniformities but they were gone by morning.
I'm gradually setting in... Still lots to play with.
I've noticed the WIFI, while it gets good reception, is a bit sluggish to drop a weak connection in favor of a strong one. Anybody got a tweak for that?

Try this app for WIFI management. I have tried several and this is the best I have found. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager I agree completely that the wifi in the phone is very slow to drop a weak signal and grab a stronger one. But with wifi manager you can play with the sensitivity. Good luck.
Will do. Thanks for confirming it's not just me. Also on another note I just found the LG keyboard has lots of settings for customization. Not bad. May keep it!

Need help with LG VK700 tablet

As the title says my tablet is a VK700 by LG and has android ver 5.0.2 build no is LRX22G software ver VK70029A, no mods or rooted or anything, but there is an issue that I cannot fix using factory resets or updates. I am hoping someone here will be able to assist me. There are some apps on my tablet, as of this post it's all my internet browsers, MeowMeow Star Acres, Class Royale, Clash of Clans, Ancient Aliens, Forge of Empires, SimCity Build It and King of Avalon. These are the ones I know of, but it crashes the games out like I just hit the Home button. No error messages or anything just blank screen n then the menu. And some apps/games crash ALOT more then others. Star Acres & Clash Royale crash alot more then Forge of Empires or King of Avalon, which almost NEVER does it. Which isn't making any sense to me. I have other games which have NEVER done it one time. The other one is on games like King of Avalon I hit the chat menu for example, the keyboard pops up, I type then i get either A)The keyboard just goes away and can't get it back easily and/or i hit the button to delete text and I get something like this "likethis this".
I thought of putting custom android on it, but if I can fix this that works too. Also would be nice to get rid of apps that I have never opened one time. Thanks.

Hi Joe,
Apparently we are the only two people to have purchased this tablet. I do have one question and possible solution for you. Like you, my apps were quitting randomly on me and I could not figure out why. I once had LTE coverage with my tablet but had discontinued that service once I had the device off contract with Verizon. Is that the same with you? Do you use it exclusively on Wi-Fi? If you do, I suggest you remove the SIM card from the device and see if that helps. For some odd reason that helped me tremendously.
Best of Luck!
