[ROM][6.0.1&7.1.1][UNOFFICIAL][**AOKP**] For huawei honor 5X(kiwi)2016-12-29 - Honor 5X ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Develo

What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Download the ROM and the GApps and place them on your SD Card/Internal Storage.
2. Reboot phone to TWRP.
3. Wipe data, cache(factory reset), dalvik/art cache and system.
4. Flash the ROM and GApps.
5. Reboot System. (First boot takes 5-6 minutes. Be patient.)

Hi,
everything is smooth,fast and stable.
Tested yesterday so not a full feedback but:
this night no drain in airplane mode
battery in wifi seems good
root ok, synchro ok,
installed few apps, themed, all Ok.
Could be easily a daily driver.
Concerning the ROM itself and my personal feeling:
i miss a bit customization, like quicksetting animation and navbar icon edition.
a good feature could be a mix of Pie Control with Circle App (Add some apps shortcut in Pie Control)
and sorry, but this pink unicorn with its gay flag hair is a bit weird.
Just had one bug, with mGerrit: force closing when navigating inside apps.

@jsbeyond.......fantastic work this! AOKP has been my favorite ROM of all in years! Thanks for bringing this update!
The ROM is beautiful, using it today. No bugs whatsoever so far except an occasional stutter while expanding notifications (tends to have a stop and go effect, not sure if it is normal behavior). Battery friendliness is the same I hope, in the past hour it has gone down just 1% with not much use, so I hope it continues to be good
One note - there are lot of apk files in the cust/preinstalled folder (Huawei swype etc) that are coming up to like 140 MB, none of these show up in the apps list anyway and if deleted can reduce the zip size and install size too by a margin!

So far (what I tested) everything works flawlessly

Glad we already have many feedback for this awesome ROM and that too from our jesbeyond.
no hesitation at all before I flash this tonight. Thanks guys @rodolphe06, @nandakalyan and @PalakMi for early feedback.:good:

I'm still digging, I'll keep you updated

Well,
One word after a days use, rock stable ROM.
Battery life was good. Smoothness & other features, app performances ,good...
Overall, one of the most stable one I experienced.
I had a hiccup though... I was listening to YouTube in screen off state using a closed module, my battery got below 15%, switched to power saver mode & got system ui redraw & restarts every 2 minutes. .. Might be a problem with closed module I was using for playing YouTube while screen off !!!
Other than this, superb ^_^

Another update, so far so good, using all the apps and modules I usually use. No issue and battery looks promising (I'll have to do more tests)

Super smooth ROM. CM13 was the only other one I have tried and this is way better.

Working super fast. Amazing ROM

Another AMAZING ROM. These Dev's are making it hard to put the 5X down and buy a "better" phone

[ROM] [5.1.1] ZMoD (09/09)

ZMoD is an AOSP-based Android 5.1 ROM focused to bring the most popular features to a clean, AOSP-based ROM.
A bit of history: when 5.1 released, I was impressed by the memory management fixes it brought us - it's a lot better than 5.0 was. Since I use my phone heavily, mostly for texting with multiple apps, it was clear that I couldn't go back to 5.0 anymore - however, there were no feature-filled 5.1 ROMs yet, so an idea popped into my mind: why not create one? This is how the first version of ZMoD born.
Features
- RRO theming support
- screenshots: quick delete action
- configurable wakeup on charger connect
- configurable volume button wake
- advanced reboot
- show application's package name in the "App info" screen
- statusbar clock and date customizations
- option to hide USB debugging icon
- clock and time clickable in statusbar
- battery icon customizations
- alarm clock: increasing volume option
- alarm clock: flip and shake actions
- materialized gallery, calendar, browser and sms (not fully done yet) app
- material default wallpaper
- swipe in AOSP keyboard
Todo
- battery and notification light customizations
Instructions
First time flashing ZMoD to your maguro (or coming from another ROM)?
Unlock & install a recovery
Wipe data & cache partitions
Flash ZMoD.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
Updating from a previous build?
Just install the latest ROM zip. If you had Google Apps installed, you need to re-flash it as well.

Bugs?
Bugs
- offmode charging broken
- green bars on the edge of the recorded videos
Thanks alot Ziyan for keeping this phone alive and running. :good:
Just to clarify... Ziyan are those the only bugs you have come across? Are there any other bugs that we should be aware of such as graphical glitches or wifi/data issues bluetooth perhaps? Would this be considered a daily driver? Sorry about all the questions, but I really want to jump to a 5.0 rom 4.4.4 just isn't cutting it anymore. I have all kinds of ram issues all the times, forcing me to reboot my phone on a daily basis. I think this would be the perfect opportunity for me to transition to a lolipop rom, but I would like to know if this rom is stable enough for daily use.

done flashing. so far so good here. bugs presented above is present. but im gonna try use this rom for more days, (as same as othe LP 5.1) but as i remember from my past flsh from other roms., the more you installed apps the more it getting slow and bugs. well so far here i just installed those social media apps and its running good to me, but i couldn't say its that stable but lets just help @Ziyan and give some reports. well im not that fun on CM roms but ill give this a shot coz its the only rom who is willing to support our legacy phone and make it alive again.
This is awesome! Thanks a lot @Ziyan. I've been using your CM11 builds for a long time. But who needs CM when we have you? CM11 is way too laggy for a while - which is by no means your fault! - and all the stories about 5.1 will definitely make me part of your test group. So I'll stop writing now and start downloading.

:good: same here so lets help @Ziyan for this :highfive:
I'm just waiting for the camera bug to be fixed which causes the camera to stop working and requires a reboot to fix it. If that's fixed, I'll be really happy to come back to LP.
i tried front cam video recording ...... sad to say i have to reboot my phone for me to use it again.. hmm.. the main bug of Gnex LP's are the camera if this will be fixed then for sure it could be stable to us Gnex users. is ther a chanve that someone can make a mod for camera and flash it to be more compatible? i mean what if the cam is not LP based. is it that possible? ( sorry for the question im not a developer)
This has been undoubtedly the best ROM I've ever flashed onto my phone. Camera bug or not, the smoothness with which it runs is almost making me doubt this is even the same phone. I am floored. Great job Ziyan and the OMAP team!
Anyone tried bsmitty karnel with this rom..?
#17
how to get root access ?
This ROM is very nice so far. It's still downloading and installing my apps which obviously takes more time since LP.
The ROM feels quite snappy, at least a bit more than recent CM11 builds. I am missing a few features such as privacy guard and quick switch between apps by pressing and holding the recent apps button. Swipe isn't working with the AOSP keyboard.
I haven't tried the camera yet. But so far so good. Really good.
I've been using this ROM for a couple of days. Really awesome ! Great work @Ziyan !
@Ziyan mwisbest fixed the offline charging, maybe you can pick the commits? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59405904&postcount=2882

Looking for a custom rom so Hercules can be reborn

I have koodo variant of T989. I am presently using Samsung stock software... It has never run well. I have held back removing the stock software because it's the only phone I have...
I am looking to re-install my phone with custom rom so Hercules can be reborn.
I value stability more than features... I am thinking about Sultanxda - [ROM+KERNEL][4.4.4] Stable CyanogenMod 11 [May 16, 2015] ... since this was developed for a long time
Would this be the best choice for custom rom? I use GPS, mobile data and skype alot...
Thanks in advance for your tips and advice.
I would give Candy 5 a shot. It's Android v5.1.1 and is currently in stable status. I've been using it as my daily driver for about a month now with no issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2-tmobile/development/rom-candy-5-hercules-t3062181
Thanks for feedback. Hercules has now been reborn. The Samsung Chains have been removed. Installed Candy 5 and it's night and day compared to stock I was running.
Glad that I could be of some assistance. If you're looking for a good theme go to settings - themes - get more - and look for Lazy Dark CM12 (if you're into dark themes that is).
Thx for the info. I will give that theme a shot. I am still playing around with Candy 5.
I am new to the community as well. So far, I have flashed Candy 5 and Paranoid 5.1.1 for my S2. I haven't tried out Candy 5 that much because I do not enough space on the phone. After I learned to reflash a pit file to repartition the phone, I went straight to Paranoid 5.1.1. But, I have some issues like rebooting and Sleep of Death so I am thinking about re-testing the Candy 5 to see if there are any major issue.
Another good rom that I want to try is the CM13 for S2 however it is still unstable so I will wait a bit more. i don't have enough posting so I couldn't post my feedback to the developer thread yet. Would you mind sharing experience w/ Candy 5 rom?
It has been working OK thus far Candy5. I do get occasional random reboots. If i am using an app sometimes I can't pick up a phone call.. Speed wise it runs well. I like the customization this rom can do. I have not modified the pit file.. I do have space issues since I am using the stock partitioning.. Overall the experience is still better than stock.

Thanks for sharing. I believe if Candy 5 supports virtual partition, it will be great. I remembered when I used Candy 5 without re-partitioning, I could not install many apps because of space on Galaxy S2.
Updated on the sleep of death, if i use double tap on the status bar, it didn't cause sleep of death at all. Use the power button causes more incidents of SOD for Paranoid 5.1.1

CandySix is out. It's in Alpha stage but I've been using it for a few days. It's faster and stable. I don't know about koodo but I'm using T-mobile variant. Check it out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2-tmobile/development/rom-candysix-hercules-t3283291
Update
Unofficial CM13 dated 01-21-2016 without installing OpenGAPPs works great (Calling works) however when I install the OpenGapps (stock) and I couldn't make a call.
Candy 6.0.1 (01-22-2016) works great too. I installed the modified BANK Gapps on the #2 post and so far it is running well except the phone couldn't locate wifi when I checked the phone this morning.
Thx for feedback. This is really helpful. I am planning to reinstall my phone with candy six when I have chance. It is confirmed to be compatible.

I am using the newer built Candy Six (1/25/2016) which has less reboot than the older built. But both CM13 and Candy 6 suffer "no service" if the phone was left in airplane mode for too long or when the phone could find any signal but so far I am happy. The unofficial CM13 also released newer built as well however i haven't had chance to try it out. I will give you more feed back soon.

Have you had any issues with 'sleep of death'? I've tried several Lollipop ROMs for hercules and all have had this problem. I haven't tried Candy 5 yet, wondering if I should bother.
I have had repeated issues where phone random reboot when low on batteries. Other than that seems to be good. Aldo the space issue . I am going to move to candy six soon. Virtual partitioning will a huge difference especially when installing large applications

In linux operating system, like android, partitions are mounted and they appears as folders. The virtual partition method organized partitions more efficiently. For exampleexample, originally the firmware partition was 512 MB and it remapped to larger partition, probably 2GB and it is considered a lot for the Operating System. It probably remap the application folders to use the original internal storage space. Virtual partition is more flexible than PIT. I have used PIT before but recently changed when I try Candy 6 and CM13.

Candy 6 still has random reboot too. With CM 13 I just recently experience reboot after using Skype video call. I do not know what happened.
The new unofficial CM13 build was released recently, I will to install this weekend.
Lineage 14.1 is the ROM to use.... Phone runs much better now... I am now able to use it as a backup. I will actually take this phone if I am going to a waterpark..

Super psyched to try this. I was thinking about trying to teach myself how to build ROMs just so I could give it a try. Glad I don't have to now that someone who actually knows what they're doing is building it.

Looks like everything works. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, sensors... Everything I use anyway. The only thing I've noticed is it's a tad sluggish. It unlocks a bit slow, apps open a bit slow, and the keyboard locked up for about 5-10 seconds a few times. I'm going to let it settle a bit longer see what happens

Agree that everything I've tried works so far. It does seem a little slower than the plain cleaNrom but I'll take a rom with features anyday. So glad to find a 7.0 rom where I can configure the nav buttons.

Howdy - when you say "BT works", does that mean:
1. You can connect to a BT speaker, for instance & play music thru it.
2. Can you pair to your car, play music via BT & accept a phonecall without crash or freeze?
I've seen BT issues mentioned on every other N ROM I've been following, would be way cool to have one break that barrier .:good:

I'm going to add subtratum to the rom. If the rom seems sluggish it could be because it's still needs to be optimized. Its using stock toolchains and the kernel I'm using for the g3 hasn't been optimized yet either.

I have been running build 0.26 for 3 days now as my daily driver. This rom is very stable. I am very happy that everything on this rom that I use on a regular basis works very well. The utouch button works flawlessly for me, even with the navigation bar enabled. The configuration is perfect to my preference - tap (back), press (home), swipe left (recents), swipe right (menu). The finger print scanner works perfectly. I have not had any issues. I was surprised when I first flashed the rom that there was not a messaging app or brower installed, but I guess that is part of the Slim concept. I was able to install messages and google chrome from the play story and they are working great. The battery life is comparable to Lineage OS and Mokee rom on my phone with my configuration. I will say with the other roms I was running Greenify as well, but with Slim7 I decided to try the rom without Greenify, and I am getting about the same battery life. SOT for me is a little over 4.5 hours. Performance is pretty good with an antutu score of 140662. I also rooted the rom with Magisk v12 and I have no issues with root. This rom is very smooth and works great. There are not a lot of configuration options with this rom, but what is available works very well. If you are looking for a stable rom, that works very well without a lot of extra "fluff", then I highly recommend this rom for you to try. Kudos to the development team on this rom. Thank you for the great work!!

The rom is simply perfect, no bugs and stable for daily use... But the v0.26 is much better on battery than v0.27 (1.30/2h more on the same usage) and slightly higher performance (always at 0.26)

Not sure when you installed v0.27, but I noticed the same thing on day 1. On day 2 it seems to be better for me, much like v0.26 was. I have no complaints today with the battery life, but that is just me with my setup. Your mileage could definitely be different.

No, but I got around 1 day full battery life with my normal use. Some gaming, music, FB, WhatsApp etc. With other roms battery draining was fast, in standby also.
