[ROM][6.0.1][RIO][Unofficial] Slim 1.15 [Stable][12/12/16] - Huawei GX8

SlimROM is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam works together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and Gerrit.
Obligatory shout out to @surdu_petru for his work on getting CM13 working for this device. Without his work, this would exist. Go buy him a beer.

12/12/16 - If you had no problems with the older builds, i've uploaded a 1.15 build for the rio l03 variant (which is what every build prior to the 12/11/16 build has been). that should just about wrap this up.
12/11/16 - Updated to Slim 1.15. As M development will undoubtedly be winding down as everyone (meaning the ROM developers) moves on to N, this build should fix the GPS issues many of you are having. It may be the last build I publicly share. Enjoy.
12/3/16 - Updated to Slim 1.14.
11/26/16 - Updated to Slim 1.13.
11/19/16 - Updated to Slim 1.12.
11/12/16 - Updated to Slim 1.11. November Secuirty updates. Patched the kernel so it builds properly (no more ****ty workaround). If you install xposed on this build you're going to have a very bad time. Do NOT install xposed and expect it to boot.
11/7/16 - Pretty sure data crapping out when the device sleeps is fixed. Thanks to @InkSlinger420 for directing me to the patch. grab the test build.
11/5/16 - Updated to Slim 1.10
10/28/16 - Updated to Slim 1.9
10/27/16 - Weekly
10/20/16 - Weekly
10/17/16 - Reverted GPS changes due to massive battery drain. GPS seems to be working fine on my variant.
10/14/16 - GPS should be improved.
10/6/16 - October Security Patches
10/4/16 - Initial release. Same bugs as everything else. Last rom I'm probably going to do for this device. It's got to end somewhere, right?

The navigation bar is disabled by default.
Network coverage fails as the rom ResurrectionRemix, I have very little network signal and the signal every 5 minutes leaves.
I have version L01 Europe.
I have to change some parameter of the radio ???
Thank you.
Sorry for little English

Very good build

largest bug is that it may not keep cellular data connection when it's sleeping. this is an issue with every rom for the gx8.

I've flashed it this morning...and i think that signal is dropping some times , but i like its simplicity and customization.
And i think is has some battery drain.
I will test it for the rest of the day...i lost 6% battery in 10 minute doing nothing...it may be , because i reboot it twice in this time?!
And 1 more thing...system ui crashes often.
Edit 2: the battery drain is real... And the camera app crashes after every photo without even saving it....reverted to cm13..
To bad...i like a lot the simplicity of this rom

yeah i'm seeing it to. i'm going to roll back to the last round of GPS files. look for an update in the next day or so.

Hi, the bug with the sistem ui is still there.
And battery seems to be ok ...until now

Not seeing the system UI crash. Probably worth trying a clean install.

What would you say that separates you from MatrixZone's CM12.1 ROM?
Are you guys literally working with the same code, you're just doing more nightlies while he's doing more subtle releases?
No offensive intended by the way, I'm just curious =o
THANK YOU!

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] GzRoms - TipsyOs Vino [6.0.1][04/11][v5.0]

TipsyOS
This ROM was created by Martin Coulon (@martinusbe) one of the lead devs at Ground Zero Roms. This was created as a side project during his 'free' time while waiting for GZR's Validus & Tesla builds to finish. Now if you are wondering why it is called Tipsy, you guessed it. He was actually somewhat drunk when he made it, and even now, most updates/fixes are done while happily intoxicated, thus keeping the Tipsy motto. It was initially done for the OnePlus One as a joke, however, the love for this ROM was so huge, it found it's way out. We just couldn't keep it to ourselves. Within a few days, it had spread like wildfire to a plethora of different devices.
Tipsy has a slim base, and only the useful and necessary stuff was added, including a few extra features to keep up with the competition out there. Tipsy fully supports Layers (RRO) and has the Layers manager app built-in. CM is kept to the barest minimum here, and is only added/used ONLY as needed.
I will try to keep this updated as much as possible, but if you feel like getting the info as it comes out along with some nice graphics, check it out here:

If you mean controlling the volume with the screen off then, Settings> sound and notifications> volume keys control media volume. Otherwise I don't have any issues with volume. Although I am missing the option to change screen brightness by swiping on the status bar.

Thanks. I tried that but it didn't work for me for some reason. I might re-flash and see if that fixes it.
Super work Gopi! I think this ROM beats all other AOSP ROMs that have been built for 5X. Just tested and found no need to install any other mods, all is built in and works to perfection......even battery is staying stable and I've had a hard time trying to drain it below 80% for the past 3 hours with normal usage (no gaming, only calls, whatsapp and substratum tinkering etc) The only thing I really miss is that a sim card cannot be deactivated....does someone know a work around to that?

Well sim deactivation Is not implemented by cm itself. So we are not going to get it. Until somebody made a patch and move it to github and build a new ROM
not stable , so many force close
google play service + some user apps => has stopped
And because of this , it made me to skip connecting to wifi on startup , because as soon as I connect to internet , for continuing the setup a working google play service was needed !
First I thought the problem is on my side but I installed this rom 2 times !
After changing my rom all the problems disappeared ....

6/8/17 - Monthly update. June security patches.
5/19/17 - Weekly update. Also added link to beanstalk github. This omission was an error and not intended to pass off someone else's work as my own.
5/13/17 - Weekly update. May be updating less frequently due to time constraints. Maybe monthlies when security updates are pushed.
5/4/17 - Weekly update. May Security Updates.

fwiw, i like this rom. it has the pixel navbar and substratum support. the pixel substratum theme and the pixel boot animation will really bling this thing out.....you know, if you want it to look like a pixel. if slim ever supports substratum i'll be back on that as my personal DD in flash though.
This is basically a improved Slim ROM with substratum support? I've never heard of Beanstalk ROMS.
But thanks for compiling this one for us, it's good to see some support for our device!
Props to surdu, without him none of this would be possible

I'm using it right now, flashed it last night. It's pretty cool. It has some nifty features like substratum support (no other theme engine for 7.1.1), but it kinda force closes some apps. I think CM14 does this too. Thank you very much for your continued work!

If a newbie reads your first post, he will not understand what is working and what not on this ROM ...... maybe he doesn't know where to find which are CM14.1 bugs ...
Method 1: Manual editing
Just add or replace these lines on your build.prop:
Code:
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
ro.opa.eligible_device=true

I tried to enable google assistant on your rom, but it doesn't work. In fact, can't even save the build.prop after modify
Can you give us a tip on how to enable google assistant?

The method you mentioned works flawlessly, the only setback is that you're going to have your phone on English language.
Just use any build.prop editor and don't forget to give root access.

Sounds like whatever you used to edit the build prop didn't have root access. In that case changes won't be saved. You can also try the get assistant app on the play store. Twrp backup first, I've had it not work and throw my phone into a boot loop.

[ROM][AOSP][6.0/7.1/8.1 RC/9.0 BETA] Unlegacy Android Project

The Unlegacy Android ProjectIntroduction
Unlegacy-Android started out as the OMAP4-AOSP Project. It was created in late 2015 in order to maintain a clean and organized place for pure AOSP support for various OMAP4 devices, such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series. Over time this evolved to support more than just these devices, but still maintains its roots of supporting "legacy" devices that no longer receive "official" updates: hence Unlegacy Android was born. In our opinion, these ROMs are how the official updates would look.
On top of AOSP, we only include changes which are necessary to support the hardware, be secure, and get acceptable performance. Current features for hammerhead include:
BFQ IO scheduler (official kernel 3.4 release), set up so GUI processes have the highest priority
Volume button wakeup (setprop persist.wm.volume_wake_screen 1)
Last upstream (kernel/msm) hammerhead kernel tag merged
Charging LED control (setprop persist.sys.led_on_charger 0)
Enhanced backlight map for lower min brightness
Night display blue light filter (GLES-based)
KCAL & PCC color temperature interfaces
Other security patches & minor bug fixes
F2FS support from K4.4 backports
SELinux in Enforcing mode
Installation
It's important that /system needs to be unmounted before installing the ROM - some recoveries tend to leave it mounted after performing operations on it.
If you're planning to install GApps, be sure to read the second post.
Aside from these, installation and upgrading is no different than on other ROMs.
Problems
No known issues on Nougat builds
See post #3 for Oreo/Pie notes
If you notice anything, be sure to report it in this thread. Stability is our main concern. While it may takes some time, I usually read the thread and acknowledge the bug reports, even if I don't reply directly to them.
Downloads
See: http://builds.unlegacy-android.org. Our automated builds ensure that we always have the latest Android security patches merged in, without having to manually start and upload builds
Also, we'll have a built-in OTA updater (just like stock) soon (it's a work in progress).
Features?
There isn't much to say here - this is AOSP, if you install GApps, you pretty much get the same thing that's running on the Nexus devices (see second post). The aim of this project is to create a fast and stable ROM, as close to AOSP as possible without diminishing usability. Occasionally, small non-AOSP features may be implemented, provided there is a clear need and they make sense on hammerhead.

GApps
If you want to install GApps, we recommend micro packages on N builds (e.g., Open GApps), and pico otherwise.
An important note: as this is a pure AOSP ROM, installing GApps tends to be problematic: in order to try to avoid installation issues, be sure to install GApps immediately after installing the ROM, before booting the system for the first time. If you experience any issues with the Google applications, be sure to go into Settings -> Apps, and grant every permission to every Google application - most importantly, Google Play services.
In the case of an upgrade, be sure to re-install the GApps package, as upgrading wipes /system. You shouldn't need to re-set the permissions afterwards.
Stock-like setup
Disable the following built-in (AOSP) apps:
- Android keyboard (once you installed Gboard)
- Browser
- Calculator
- Camera
- Clock
- Email
- Gallery
Install the following apps from the Play store:
- Google Photos (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos)
- Calculator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calculator)
- Chrome (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome)
- Clock (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock)
- Gboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin)
- Gmail (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gm)
- Google Calendar (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar)
- Google Camera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera)
- Google Now Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher)
Rooting
You can flash the latest SuperUser (phh's open source fork), Chainfire's SuperSU, or Magisk to get rooted.
Oreo/Pie Status & CAF Notes
Oreo 8.1 builds are almost bug-free at this point, but still tagged as experimental. While last issues are sorted out, I will trigger manual builds, also published at https://builds.unlegacy-android.org/aosp-8.1/hammerhead.
To my knowledge, these are the remaining issues:
Bluetooth HFP speaker (mono/SCO) output is garbled. This seems related to a more general issue with audio effect/ACDB blobs.
Once all visible issues are fixed, and stability is comparable to Nougat builds, I'll switch on official builds on our Jenkins server.
Pie 9.0 builds are also becoming fully usable. Current builds have the same one remaining HFP bug described above.
Beyond "official" experimental builds, I post personal builds (including CAF experiments) in the hammerhead folder here.
Regarding sources for the WIP CAF kernel-based builds, see https://github.com/airend/android_kernel_lge_hammerhead/commits/tmp/caf+113+common. Corresponding device tree is still in rough shape and not uploaded yet, but assuming everything goes well, it'll replace current device tree when it's ready.
I've used the 05/04 build for 2 days a few weeks ago and it was a great rom.
The only issue I came across back then was that it has the green flickering when recording videos.
It's nice that the project has a XDA thread now and I gonna test this rom asap.
Thanks for keeping our good old Nexus 5 up to date.

Should be fixed on current builds (both green bar, and Google Camera flickering).
have a volume wake option?
Does it have issues with network location (Battery saver location)?
Some AOSP-based ROMs have this issue, so many apps (Chronus, Google Fit, f.lux, Instagram) can't get location.

Cant Install Gapps
I've flashed it for about half a day, and it's very promising, it seems a great ROM!
I've noticed only three defects:
- The blue light filter (Night mode) is missing;
- With stock kernel, SuperSU will be in system mode;
- The Clock app crashes if you try to add another Time zone in the main screen.
Everything else works fine.
