Major Battery Drainage Issue on latest update - Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Questions & Answers

My wife's S7 active has been having really bad battery drainage issues. The phone feels hot and the battery percentage just keeps dropping percent after percent minutes after minutes.
Is anyone else having issues with their? Is there a fix? It's an s7 active from T-Mobile

The S7 Active is a AT&T exclusive. So how is it on T-mobile? Did she purchase it from AT&T then switch?

Horrible battery life with their "extended" battery

I call it "extende" battery because it's 250maH more than the stock, big whoop.
I have maybe 10-15 calls per day. I unplug at 10am and by 4-5PM I am at 14% battery. There is NOTHING running. I even switched to CDMA only from LTE/CDMA and it didn't help much.
Any recommendations? I am about to return it. My HTC Thunderbolt which has the WORST battery life of ANY phone lasts me through the day and that's with Facebook and other notification apps.
Wait for 4.03 and see if that helps. Otherwise, turn down screen brightness, turn off LTE, and get better reception. Also, charge it every chance you get.

I can't fix any reception issues. This has horrible reception compared to my Thunderbolt as well which itself was bad with reception.
I have it on 3G only and the screen is already turned down.
I mean no disrespect but if the only option is to wait for a "patch" to fix this I probably should return it.
I paid out of contract price for this phone. $649.99 + 8.1% sales tax.
Don't get me wrong. This phone is blazing fast compared to my Thunderbolt but in the end I may just exchange it for an iPhone 4S which has sucky battery life but I can get through 2-3 days on a single charge.
If you even have to think about getting an iPhone, this phone isn't for you.
Seriously, something is probably wrong with your device. I get no reception issues. Sounds like that is the brunt if your issues.

I would say return the 2100mAh battery at least but don't return the phone. LTE is a huge battery hog as is and with the size of this screen it isn't helping either. I'm anxiously awaiting either Mugen or Seidio to make a decent extended battery for it. There is a generic 'made in China' 3800mAh battery currently circulating around eBay pretty cheap, although I haven't tried it out myself yet.
How long have you been using the extended battery? You have to give it at least a week before making any decisions.
I've had the phone since Monday/Tuesday
You should first compare with the standard battery with the same usage pattern. If the standard battery gives you more time then there's a problem with your extended battery. If the standard battery gives you less time, then the extended battery is okay but you should look at your rom settings instead.

If you're using the phone lightly and losing 85% in 6 hours, then there is a hardware problem. Don't buy into the hype that an OS update is going to fix the problem, it probably won't. I have great battery life on my GN using 4.0.2. I think a lot of people have a hardware defected phone, and are in for a surprise when the OS update launches and doesn't fix the battery issues. The Galaxy S already got 4.0.3, and users are still reporting massive battery drain.
Carry a few batteries or a charger and enjoy.

I have found that the battery life I get with my extended battery is above and beyond anything I would have expected. Use WiFi if it is available for you at work or at home because it's typically faster (unless you have 4G signal and slow wifi) and uses much less power than typical cell radios.

Lol totally a reasonable way to keep your phone functional. Hey, just sew another pocket on your jeans just to hold cellphone batteries, no biggie.
I think battery life varies wildly depending on individual circumstances.
My area has stellar LTE reception, I keep the screen at 30% brightness, and I do light web browsing, RSS viewing, and podcast listening.
With the extended battery, I get anywhere from 9-12 hours before hitting 5% battery. Battery usage typically shows ~50% screen and ~20% Android OS.
Granted, battery life dips significantly when gaming or watching Netflix, which I always do at 100% brightness.

although Nexus S has 4.0.3, the update for Galaxy Nexus will be designed for that specific hardware; thus battery life, performance etc will be completely different.

I have the extended battery, using Roman's ROM and I go to sleep at night with about 25% battery left. I make about 5 calls a day, lasting about 20 minutes each. I surf on the phone a LOT, but am always on wifi when surfing.
I have always found that finding the right ROM with the best battery life (sometimes using different kernals) is a necessity with smartphones.
This is ridiculous. Unplugged for 1 hour and now it's at 44%. Absolutely nothing running. I watched it drop from 46-44%

What is your screen on time? How many apps do you have installed? Are you running stock? Has the phone actually died?
Just because it says its that low doesn't even mean it's that low. Could be an error in reporting. I don't pay much attention to the percent... I go by when my phone actually dies.

Get the iPhone and enjoy the tiny screen and amazingly horrible display. Then enjoy the fact that you can't do anything software related to the iPhone as well. And finally, go wait online for the next iPhone flop like every other fanbois out there and don't bother coming back to visit XDA where people enjoy the most up to date technology and don't waste Thread space by posting more useless threads.
Thanks I'm done ranting now.

Do I need to exchange my GNex?

So I'm considering either trying to exchange my GNex itself or my extended battery. I simply cannot get the battery life that most people, including my personal friends who have the device, are showing. My battery graph is never smooth and rockets downward at awkward angles. I've tried stock, many different roms/combos of kernels. I've also tried most battery tweaks I have seen. I had the Android OS bug originally, though after I tried out the 4.0.4 update it seems to be fixed. Nothing seems to be working. As an example, I had 15% battery left after 10 hours yesterday with no voice calls, 35 mins of screen time (barely anything), and having used no apps besides texting and a small amount of browsing. On the extended battery, that's fairly terrible. A voice call of 15 minutes will drain my battery about 10%. Nav will drain about a percent a minute.
Also, I live in a major city and never have signal issues. However, I am on wifi about 90% of the day. My brightness is always set around 15%.
As a test, today I flashed stock GummyNex and install absolutely no applications besides BetterBatteryStats. I currently have 30 minutes of screen time, and 15 minutes of voice calls, and have done nothing else besides a couple texts/a few minutes of web browsing. My results are fairly bad for having absolutely no applications installed or running, especially on a fresh install. If I had other apps installed and some things syncing, or if I had used my phone like a normal person and done anything else besides very minimal browsing, my phone would have died a while ago.
I'm attaching a few screenshots of when my phone was at 50% with this fresh GummyNex.
So the question is, could there be a hardware issue here that is stopping me from having reasonable battery life? Should I try to get an exchange?
Exchange it, I'm on my 4th Gnexus due to signal issues and have experienced the battery length differ from phone to phone, am about to exchange this one due to the flash led not working lol.

Good question, meant to mention that. I almost always turn 4g off. However, I am on wifi 90% of the time regardless.

Did you have much trouble exchanging it? What did you tell Verizon was your problem?

I had to exchange one also, defect. Battery died in under 5 hours. Didn't have amy questions asked, exchanged it right away. This is my new battery life. Not as bad, but still jealous of my nexus s battery life.

I have the extended GSM battery but even with my original battery I got more than a day as long as I wasn't playing where's my water constantly.
I turn off WiFi when the screen is off, I figure data plan can pick up stuff.

I feel like my battery is discharging faster. With the previous firmware, even when 4G is enabled, the battery lasted for 2-3 days. Now, after the upgrade, the battery last's a little over a ~1.5 days (4G enabled as well).
Is there a difference in battery life when 4G is actively in use and when it is on stand-by (On, but not in use)?

There is a difference if you throw a 2g only toggle on your home page most likely. Personally though I use 45-55% a day so it doesn't bother me.

New note II Battery drain / Radio signal?

I have had my N7105 for about a week and the battery life is terrible compared to my old n7000
I have barely used to phone over the last 2 days and my battery is basically flat. I see loads of people talking about getting hours of screen on time out of their devices and still having 50+ plus battery. I think I've sent about 4 text messages and received 2 phone calls totally 5 mins over this charging cycle
Has anyone had the same experience with their device. I'm not sure what is really classed as good battery life out of one of these devices.
I think my battery drain may have something to do with the radio signal? as the attached pictures show deep dips in the graph when radio signal is yellow not green. Can anyone shed some light on this.
I have a note LTE on Vodafone with is stuffed with there latest bloat ware although I can't see any Vodafone processes running
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as at the moment i'm a bit suck. I don't really want to do a factory reset if won't help.
While I can frequently get over 6 hours screen on time, I also find that the standby time sucks on this. In comparison to my other phone (HTC One S), where I was at 45 hours with 2.50 hours screen on time with 21% left, the Note II LTE is actually piss poor. This is a HTC One S I picked up the other day "second hand" by the way, with a sealed battery that had been already used for the best part of a year and a half. I'll only get about a day battery life on the Note II regardless of how lightly I use it. It will just keep draining on standby.
This is 100% not an app issue. I know my way around Android and have eliminated absolutely everything it could be and have been keeping a close eye and getting rid of the top wakelocks. With essentially the same setup as my NON-ROOTED One S, it is shockingly piss poor and this is not due to any apps.
I also don't have a 4G provider, so it's not due to being connected on 4G. There seems to be a serious issue with this phone (maybe since the 4.1.2 update?) where the radio or whatever causes a piss-poor standby time and will seem to lose a percent an hour or more when doing nothing. My HTC will sit near 100% for the best part of a day if I don't touch it.
I should probably add that my 3G signal is usually pretty low (around -105-110db) most of the time. Still though, this is a Samsung issue as my HTC doesn't get the drain with the same sim and signal.
Truth be told, I wish I got the HTC One instead. That's just me though, and I don't care about an SD Card slot and I can live with a sealed battery if it ain't draining on standby the way the Note II LTE does.

Long Term Battery Life Quality

Hey guys, so when I had my Note 4 I had issues with the battery dropping instantaneously from random percentages (45%, 20%, etc) to 0%. I had replaced the battery twice during the 4 years i had it, and i know others have experienced it as well. I'm just curious if anyone with other samsung devices newer than the note 4 had any similar issues? I think it was related to using the fast-charge but I'm very nervous with my S8+ long term because the battery isn't easily swappable.
Side note, i just sold my Note 4 an hour ago. I hope I gave them the right battery and they don't have the battery issues with it :fingers-crossed:
I had a note 5 and the battery lasted at least 2 days. I now have the s8+ and my battery really doesn't last the whole day. Im not quite sure why. I have also noticed that my internet doesn't work as well as the note 5. Note 5 I always had at least 3G ( I live in the woods) but with my s8+ I'm usually on 1x again not sure why.
