Sm-t807a bricked... Kies doesn't support - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so the att tab s was rooted I, impulsivity, decided to try and flash Xposed through FlashFire. I mistakenly flashed the wrong zip though. I am now left with a tab that only goes to firmware trouble screen. My computer recognizes it, as does Odin. Like I said Kies is saying it doesn't support it so right now I'm stuck. I refuse to give up, so any and all help would be appreciated

can you go to recovery? then only way i can think off is format data thru recovery.

Cannot get into recovery

Explain what the zip was that you flashed?

I flashed the wrong exposed installer..I can't remember exactly which as this was done awhile ago. You answered my original post when it happens I think you said it wiped the partitions?

Original post?
Was this device running KITKAT or LOLLIPOP?

Yeah this happened a few months back so I'm not sure. I'm going to go with LP , used KingRoot.

Well you didn't reply to that thread.

Wow you're right. I'm sorry I didn't even realize I didn't respond. So sorry for that. I tried those files and they didn't take, I cannot get into recovery and now I'm stuck at this stupid screen

I'm hooked up to Kies on my Mac and it's trying to connect but hasn't, so I tried manually entering is the name and sn . When I do I get up Kies pop-up to check the name I am entering "SM-T807A"

Did they actually flash with odin or just fail?
That screen usually presents itself when something fails to flash.

They failed, I don't remember what was flash to cause that screen. I have no problem getting Odin to connect..I just lack the right files apparently. The only option I see if I have a friend with the same tab so I could try to connect his tab to my laptop and have Kies download the firmware. But like I said Kies on my windows laptop is saying it doesn't support the device

You can't get the Firmware via kies. It's only available via ota or from an authorised Samsung reseller.

OK so I guess I'm SOL ... Thanks for the help anyway

Well I had requested many times for someone to catch the OTA when it came, but not one person could be bothered to make the effort. So now you and others are in this unfortunate situation. [emoji19]
If someone with root can pull the system.img from a T807a running lollipop there may be a chance it would flash.

Yeah I saw you asked that a few times while I was searching through threads. I have even thought about replacing the mother board lol. I got the us cellular variant really cheap on eBay so I don't need this tab but this is my first brick out of all the devices I have owned. So it's a pride thing lol...
So would any exynos variant stock recovery work? I'm pretty sure I was on 5.0.2

It's unlikely any other recovery would work, even though it would be compatible, it will likely just get rejected by the bootloader.
However you've nothing to lose by trying.

Like is had said in your original thread... If you can find a samsung support store or even bestbuy (although the ones around here have no idea what they are doing), they can flash the original firmware for you... The same thing happened to me with xposed, except I installed the right one, it just bricked the tablet, which i suspect is because we can't get any other recovery nor unlock our tablets, all we can do is root them...

Nvm just realized there were 2 pages. Did you try getting the firmware from sammobile.com?

Did this phone have custom recovery or stock before he took the OTA?
EDIT: nevermind, it doesn't matter.
no it was stock unrooted.

Stock S6 Edge ODIN flashable firmware?

Does anyone have a stock firmware of their S6 Edge T-Moible? that's ODIN flashable. I bricked my S6 trying to root it and had the KNOX security on. Now it just boot loop.

Did you try and flash the S6 file (non-edge file) to root your phone? For many that corrects what looks to be a bricked phone.
I did the same thing the OP had done, referring to enabling KNOX prior to rooting, and none of anyone's suggestions through the past multiple days have worked. Enabling "KNOX" under the "Security"
settings is a big no-no, or so it seems from the few that have done it. Might be worth somebody making a thread just letting people know NOT to do that if they don't wish for an expensive brick until a stock ODIN tar surfaces. It makes the phone bootloop and useless even when using the regular S6 autoroot tar. It's also interesting how nobody answered the OP's actually question, though. "Is there an actual stock ODIN tar for this phone yet?" I would like to know the same, even though my own research has come up negatory thus far. Focus on the dude's question rather than waste time with other suggestion(s) which they likely already know haven't worked.

Thank you all for this. I would also like to know if this deletes all the user data/apps/contacts as well? I'm trying to restore the phone to stock so I can return it but as others have said with the root performed I am unable to hard reset/restore to factory so I am looking for a work around. Thanks in advance.
Yes, it deletes all user data, but the phone will have root.

So when rooting a T-Mo Edge first time, we should use the std S6 (SM-G920T) autoroot file, and not the file listed for the edge?

yes you use the G920T but that will mess up your recovery, so be aware.

I want to thank you for at least getting me back to a recovery mode screen that is readable and starts with the normal icon, that says updating system. I still need to wait for the stock SM-G925T firmware file for the S6 Edge to get back to a working phone. Deleting knox files as I stated in a few threads here is a big no no for now. Just get that bootloop on startup and this has nothing to do with rooting. Is the deleted files. Samsung support confirmed this too. I did try the factory reset which basically wiped the phone of info, which is no big deal. Plenty of backups. Just need the darn tar file for this model. I'm sure it will be out soon.
BTW, I was having issues getting on to any web link site Sammobile.

I want to publically thank you for your superb and timely help. What's funny is I'm on a MAC desktop and the Kies Mac version would not connect to my phone even though I have the drivers already on the computer. I use Parallels to boot to a Windows 8 virtual setup. Kies gave me the unsupported device message I think, but after going to the tools menu and following the instructions on the video, all went well. The only nit pick is I believe the Kies program called it the recovery mode to boot into, but they used the correct button combo to actually be in download mode for this to work.
Anyways....much thanks and for all those waiting for stock firmware for the Edge to magically appear, which I'm sure it will eventually, this method works. Word of advice to all.....go into your settings and about device and write down your serial number since it's required when inputting the model number. TMobile and Samsung incorrectly kept telling me the serial number is the same as the IME. IT'S NOT. And that number is NOT on the box labeling either. So without the serial number of your device KIES won't work for this firmware restore. A simple thank you to the person that know, for helping me with that aspect.

Thank you for this, and thank you for letting others know about the correct serial number used.
For anyone in the same situation, you CAN borrow a serial number from another device to get the download started just as Docmjldds and I did here. I gave him mine, and the download proceeded as normal. After the phone is flashed, it still retains the correct factory serial that came with your phone.

You can also get the serial number from download mode. When you first boot into dl mode and you get the warning page press the home button and the IMEI and SN (serial number) are both there with a bar code.

[Q] ATT ZE500CL/Z00D Bricked After OTA Update - HELP (ZenFone 2E)

I have an ATT ZenFone 2E that I rooted successfully with this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3116531). Due to an error on my part(fat finger) I accidentally started the OTA update. Now when I try to boot the phone all I get is the AT&T logo/splash screen. I can get it to go into recovery mode and it also will connect via ADB. I have tried flashing the UL-ASUS_Z00D-WW-12.16.5.30-user.zip firmware via ADB fastboot but I get an error saying firmware is wrong carrier ATT (WW). Am I using the wrong firmware for AT&T? I have searched all over and cannot find any ZenFone 2 firmware other than WW, TW, and CN. Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Still no luck. I'm sure if we could find the AT&T firmware we would be able to recover. Unfortunately it appears it is not available on ASUS support and AT&T doesn't even provide firmware. Our only hope may be from a backup of another device that isn't bricked.
Does anybody know if we could possibly use the temporary CWM recovery used in the root method to flash to another ROM that is compatible with this device? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Are there any details I can provide that would be helpful in finding a solution to recover this device? I've seen a few other people are having the same issue as I am and I would like to help them as well if I can get mine fixed. Thanks

Just out of curiosity have you tried running the xoa_unroot.bat while your device is in recovery/fastboot mode? Im not sure if it will help but I've found in other threads that to avoid soft bricking your device you must run the unroot prior to applying the OTA update. I'm sure it's probably too late but maybe worth a shot. I'm going to try it when I get home from work today.

Wait, are you bricked and tried using that as the fix? I cant post links but Check out Asus, They have Firmware, Kernel (havent checked but read it earlier today), and Boot Unlock that you can get right from (assuming you have an account) My Products.
Also... Has anyone used that method recently?
Cathaterfish said:
Sorry I will give credit to DavePmer for his guide in minute, but qouting him for some reason wouldnt let me post, even when I removed the links? anyways I'll edit and give credit I promise
So my phone is stuck on the Asus Logo, I downloaded all of this and followed the instructions all the way up to:
11) now the fun part. open your microsd card and check the folder TWRP\BACKUPS see if it has a folder named
01234567890123456789 if it does great if not, not a problem just copy all the system files from the folder
you extracted TWRP-zf2e-ATT_12.16.10.7 to your microsd card TWRP\BACKUP\01234567890123456789\ whatever folder you have next\ in other words, replace your system.ext4.win000 files with my system.ext4.win000 file.
Replace your system.ext4.win001 with mine, and replace system.ext4.win00.md5 with mine as well as system.ext4.win001.md5 when done safely dismount the microsd card.
It then occurred to me that i should be more careful this time around... This was from October and although I ran across links saying for the most part that this was a good shot for fixing my ZE500CL, Z00D or whatever. But things have changed since then and I was wondering if this is still the best/easiest/safe route. I learned pretty quick that over looking things like OTA/Root or in my case Making assumptions is a fast path to really doing a number on your phone. (Honestly I just started even giving thought to rooting my phone, just considered them back ups I kept in a box). I now have the itch to do this right so hoping to fix this and go about this the right way.
Thanks for any input.
Currently DLing RussaiNBeaR, went and bought a card reader/writer. I was going to Download the firmware, kernel and boot unlock tool but currently staying at a place where im getting 160kbs on my DL's. So if I can get away with davepmer's guide that would be great, or something other or smaller than downloading 4gbs on this Internet Connection.
EDIT: Forgot to add that I haven't completed this step yet because the wording kind of tripped me up. And I want to do this right. When he says "in other words replace your system.ext4.win000 files with my system.ext4.win000 file." and then goes on and 3 more to the list. Does that mean only copy and replace those 4? or does that include all system.(whatever).(extension) files? Im sure it sounds really dumb or noobish but the fact that the next step is using twrp to restore using system only makes me afraid to do this part wrong.

Ok, so the samsung kies did not fix my Note 4 (SM-N910A).
I did find this:

Hi, I'm in the soft-brick syndrome.
This is my first go at rooting my phone (SM-N910A) - at least i was smart enough to try it after i upgraded
anyhoo, i researched and read. i installed my usb drivers, odin, and downloaded the suggested firmware. i couldn't talk between my computer and phone; so, i tried kingroot - big mistake. it failed in the middle and now i'm getting a startup error that says secure fail: kernel, then the blah, blah, blah go to AT&T store blah blah blah.... error.
i finally was able to reinstall the usb drivers and believe that odin can talk to my phone, but i receive a fail message when i try to install the firmware.
what to do? please help.

Hi, I'm in the soft-brick syndrome.
This is my first go at rooting my phone (SM-N910A) - at least i was smart enough to try it after i upgraded
anyhoo, i researched and read. i installed my usb drivers, odin, and downloaded the suggested firmware. i couldn't talk between my computer and phone; so, i tried kingroot - big mistake. it failed in the middle and now i'm getting a startup error that says secure fail: kernel, then the blah, blah, blah go to AT&T store blah blah blah.... error.
i finally was able to reinstall the usb drivers and believe that odin can talk to my phone, but i receive a fail message when i try to install the firmware.
what to do? please help.

hey pal im in the sameboat ,and like you i also made the fatal mistake of using kingroot. only cause i used it on SM-E700M and worked fine so i tried it on the note 4 and now i have no clue what to do next should i try to re root it again or maybe try to install the lolipop system it came with or do i try to upgrade or maybe try and install original firmware i can really use your advice what do you think?
no progress yet. i tried loading 5.1.1 and the original version (4.4.x ... whatever it was). both failed. i think that i might be approaching the issue incorrectly.
i think that i might have rooted the phone but tripped knox - when i startup i see in icon of a padlock that's open and it says custom underneath. but i get the error stating about non-standard software installed. i'm going to continue to research and see if i can figure out how to reset / remove knox.
i saw that there was someone who went back to ATT to have them reset the phone ... does anyone know whether they'll do it? at least i could have the phone at a "ready" state to try again ... after more research and prep. ;- )
not real progress, but...
i researched some more and feel as if i made some progress with odin3v1.85.
i followed directions from this article: How to Unroot / Unbrick Balaxy Note 4 (i found on the androidrootz site - sorry, i'm not allowed to post a url yet)
so, i'm still bricked, but this process was able to communicate with my phone and reported that flashing the firmware was successful.
incremental progress ... maybe ...
my solution
while i would have preferred to be able to figure it out, i couldn't.
i took the phone to AT&T today and they re-imaged it. all is clear and it's back to factory settings - no cost.

My second post has the fix for it. I don't know why it typo'd and said "not working" i meant to say "now working"
mine is working
did the same thing, bricked my sm-n910a gave the att message to bring it to them, all fixed via odin 3.0.9 download the stock firmware AP and BL check off in the little box bootloader update and clear EFS and it should work mines like new and didn't miss a beat, kingroot did root my phone 100% but bricked it to. whats the way around at&t locking the device up.

I took mine into the store. They reimaged it for free. No issue.
Where I live it's like 60 miles to a corp store. She's working mint now I'd like to bring the OS back to 4.4.4 and try it again.

Unfortunatly, once you are on 5.1.1 there is no downgrading back to 4.4.4. Many have tried, non have suceeded. Am I saying it is impossible, I do not believe anything is impossible, but right now we do not have the right tools. Take care.
Yah. I tried had to reinstall the 5.1.1 firmware again. 17step procedure is a lil more than im capable of. Think the note 4 is getting sold. Moto x pure or another nexus. Thanks you guys on here it's where I got the firmware.

Thank you for your input. After searching for literally a full day and trying several different things to no avail....yours was the one that unbricked my phone. Thank you....Thank you!
Yah I wouldn't try anymore to root, if theres a huge bounty and none of these smart cookies here on xda haven't got it yet. The 910a variant is unrootable perm root that is, the. Mobile version you can. Glad it helped and your up and running again.

Successful Root - Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Just one drawback...

Hello all,
I was testing and fooling around with my Note 4 SM-910A when I tried rooting my phone again. (Manually) and I did something different giving me root and the bootloader now shows the Custom (unlocked) symbol. Meaning, that I got root and my bootloader was unlocked. Here is some proof:
imgur (DOT) com/2qjJmWs
But there is one catch to it.
You get bricked. AT&T sees that you are rooted and you cannot use your phone unless you restore it to stock or you take it to AT&T store and they will do it for you.
Also you get a : SECURE = FAIL on your scree.
When I got this root, I made an account quickly and then I posted. This is the biggest day for me. I'm gonna try and see if I can bypass the SECURE = FAIL and make it into SECURE = I DON'T EVEN CARE!

Dude, no kidding this just happened to me like 10 minutes ago. I'll be going to AT&T store, like the phone said. I will see what they do.
If you look into the root progress forum, a couple of us has had the same thing happen. I am hoping that some devs are looking into this. I know how to do this every time now and have to unbrick my phone every time.

Look into this here.
I have done this more than 10 times trying various root procedures to stick on reboot. I'm sure there are A LOT of other that have had this happen also. It's not new.

Bro, not a troll. My note 4 is now permanently bricked. The os was deleted by the bootloader. I took it to Att and they say that it is permanently bricked. Hard-bricked. Gonna send it to samsung or go to another att store to see wut happenes.

Download needed files and don't forget about Odin program.
As I stated earlier, I have done this over 10 times trying various root methods to stick. If you weren't so noobish in thinking AT&T was going to help you...maybe you could read around on these awesome forums and figure it out for yourself... but alas, you can lead a horse to water, blah blah blah...

I had the same thing happen to me. King root app popped & asked me to try again so I did. (Stupid me) I tried everything I know how to fix this.. In recovery mode I told phone to wipe data factory reset. Still pops up after reboot stating kernal is not seaddroid enforcing then says secure fail kernel and had large yellow triangle saying system software not authorized by at&t has been found etc. Turn off and take to at&t store.
Anyone know how to fix this or have I ruined the phone?

Wow. Don't be lazy. Not cool dude. I did read the whole post and I am trying what was listed. Anyway I wanted to add that my phone has never been rooted. I have tried Kingroot many times with no success. I am running Lollipop 5.1.1 which is locked by AT&T so I am curious if bootloader is locked how this happened or how I will be able to fix this. I will continue to read as I have been doing prior to being called lazy. I have yet to see anyone else state they were running the same OS I am.

The files mentioned in my previous post are the 5.1.1 OS files. I have used them multiple times to recover from a soft-brick. So, YES, I have the same OS Lollipop as you should have. AT&T has locked the bootloader on the Note 4 from the beginning. But in 4.4.4 you could temp-root in order to get rid of some files. But results are so different from phone to phone that a temp-root scenario is complicated to explain. Some work some dont. KINGROOT is also in the same boat, might or not work. You might be able to keep your phone from rebooting or it might freeze and you HAVE to pull the battery. When the battery gets pulled and reboots SOMETIMES you can reboot to a temp-rooted phone, MOST OF THE TIME it soft bricks. All of this information is in either of the posts I linked earlier, so either you're lazy, or you don't understand what you're reading. If you don't understand, then please READ, SEARCH, and RESEARCH.

1) Not a troll. Just someone not knowing what they're doing.
2) ATT reps don't even know the difference between a locked sim and locked bootloader, so they wouldn't know the difference between a hard and soft brick.
3) All you had to do was use Odin to fix the phone. You just traded your phone for a factory refurbished one. Good job!
4) Read the latest forum posts before doing things.

Hey guys. Thought I'd chime in with a little insight here. Had someone call me the other day that tried to root one, and ended up with the same unauthorized software error. Couldn't get to download mode, couldn't get to recovery, couldn't get phone to boot. He took it to AT&T, where they of course told him the phone was "hard bricked". I just used a usb jig and restored it with odin. Did just fine.
This is the jig I used. It was $4.92 on eBay

You wasted $4.92 on ebay, All you got to do is download USB Driver for your phone and install it on your computer. Once this is done, your computer we recognize your soft bricked phone and you can use Odin to reload the firmware.
