Wondering this also. Especially interested if it enhance the stabilization on video. I wish someone can make xposed module so non-nougat can run it, just like the Google assistant ones.

[Q] Camera APK?

I installed cm11 on my z1c and I'm wondering if I can install the camera apk to make it work on cm?
You can't. It requires Sony Frameworks from stock firmware and AFAIK nobody is working on that. Try searching, but I doubt you'll find something.
Cheers

How's CM11 coming through? Do write your experience and also change the subject by putting 'experience' in the subject. It's high time CM did something for their camera app.

[REQ] Archiport stock camera for AOSP 4.4.2

Is it possible for someone to get the stock Samsung camera from Archiport 4.4.2 onto AOSP roms such as CM11. The stock camera is the only one that seems to allow video recording on Snapchat or Vine & I'd like to have it in CM11:good:

Samsung have the blobs for the stock camera, aosp camera is a toy in comparison for this reason I will never return to aosp T_T. so if samsung don't give us his sources we never have the awesome view in aosp
PD:I love aosp but the camera...

Actually the camera on Slimkat works pretty fine. I agree that its not that good as samsung stock one, but not that bad at all. I've heard also that in new CM11 for our phone the camera works well too. But as it was said - I wouldnt believe that it will be as good as stock, because I don't think samsung will give us the drivers.
@edit
I also saw some fix mod for camera, which replaces stock camera in AOSP rom and works even better

To be honest All i want is a camera that works with both Snapchat and vine for video recording. snaps only record 3 seconds instead of 10 and vine just wont record at all :crying:

Best camera app for AOSP ROMs?

Hi guys,
Before moving my 9300 from stock to custom ROM I'd like to know if the current camera apps of AOSP roms can guarantee at least the same performance of the stock ROM in terms of picture quality and video recording fps in full HD.
Do you have any recommendation on the best app available at the moment?
Thank you a lot!

Thank you.
I'm still deciding to move to a custom ROM as for me video recording at full fps is a must have.
You mentioned video playback is laggy but how is the same video playback on PC? Is it OK?
Thank you

Try Lenovo Super Camera

That's a good question. A picture/video quality is determined by the camera app? Because even I'm using Google Camera, looks like the quality is worse than stock samsung camera...

Yeah all the video is OK without any lag on PC &Touchwiz ROM but when I switch to AOSP and play it its lagging[emoji22]

I would say.. NONE.
There is no camera app for Galaxy S III that can actually beat the stock Samsung camera app.
Low light mode causes too much noise on other camera apps. But it appears very clean when clicked on the Stock S III app.
HDRs are amazing on the stock app. But on any other apps, it would totally appear horrible. As if there is no difference between the normal pics and the HDR clicks.

I have tried many AOSP roms for GTi9300 but none of those roms camera were as good as stock camera. I would recommend cm11 as its camera is much better as compared to cm 10.2
I'm using A Better Camera and so far I find it very good almost as good as stock TW one.

Which ROM are you on?
Can you post a full HD video to check for lags?
Thank you

I'm on RR 5.1.5 bit rate is about 10 mbits (I know that is low) but no problems playing with mx player

I'm using Snap Camera HDR
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marginz.snap&hl=pl
Apk has many options and make quite good photos in HDR and Burst mode. Works (IMO) much better, than A better Camera... generally works better, than any high noted Camera apk from Play store. I've probably tested everyone of them.
For smooth videos flash v5 camera fix libs or use tasker or per app settings mod and force performance governor to be turned on while recording. Lags are all about governors.
Google camera for the win [emoji106]
After trying it i can't look back at any other and nothing else can do the photo sphere and panorama like it. plus its got a very good editor.
Google Camera or DSLR Camera which makes perfect pictures in macro mode - here's an example.

I have not seen any difference in quality using this vs stock camera in daylight. Moreover, it's very fast compared to stock camera on G3.
I think the best out there is the lenovo or the motorola ..but NONE of them can be compared (yet) to the stock camera. Besides in most of the alternatives laser doesnt even work so....

[Question] Is the Pixel camera quality on custom ROMs the same as on stock?

If I flash one of the few 8.1 ROMs that are out currently, will I lose camera quality?
If you use the google camera app then you're good.
If you use a custom camera app, then the quality suffers, IME.

How about when using a custom kernel? Same thing?

Yes and yes. Picture quality usually depends on the app. It uses the same hardware. Check out Camera NX. Slightly better than stock Camera.

I am thinking of applying Pixel Experience Custom ROM or LineageOS ROM in my PIXEL 2 when they will be available with Android 12. Should I be concerned with the chance of the degradation of Pixel's camera quality? Does a Custom ROM harm the pixel photo capturing capability? Do the HDR+ work?
