No rpmb and impossibility to unlock my bootloader - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. My device just came back from lg, and apparently I've got a brand new mother board. There is a problem though: my rpmb is gone (fastboot states "no rpmb" right next to the secure boot string), and I guess that is what makes my device fail to unlock its bootloader. Now, doing a little searching on the net, what I get is that really little people also encountered this problem, and ALL of them seem to have sent their device to lg from Italy (as have I). Have I got any chance to fix it? Or maybe just take it back to lg for a check? What could I possibly say to them?
Note that I know pretty well how to unlock bootloaders under normal circumstances, as I have already unlocked many nexus devices of mine in the past, so that is not the problem.

Hey there! I found a solution to get root access, here's my post on Reddit about it:

Hope this helps!

Questions About Bootloader Unlocking?

Hi everyone!
I bought an LG G4 really cheap on Saturday and was wondering about unlocking the bootloader. Coming from a OnePlus One with CyanogenMod 13, i have found the G4 quite difficult to adjust to with LG's rubbishy reskinned version of Marshmallow. It would be cool to install CM13 instead and have TWRP recovery on here as well, but i'm a bit worried about the bootloader because unlocking it is supposed to void the warranty. On the OnePlus One, the bootloader was of course locked by default, however unlocking it did not affect the warranty of the device.
If i proceeded with my plans of unlocking the G4's bootloader, what would happen to the device which would indicate to someone in the shop or at LG that it had been tampered with? And if it does leave evidence behind, is it possible to conceal this by relocking the bootloader?
I'm not too sure what the law on it in the UK would be, i thought someone said that if the bootloader unlock had no relevance to any fault with the device, then legally they'd still have to repair it under warranty. It might be different in the US.
Anyone know about this subject in more detail?
Thanks!
hi !
sorry.....but yes !
if you unlock your bootloader ,it's really true that your warranty (and all sorts of theses services) is REALLY voud !!!
strict rules by LG ! it's theirs laws ...
no way for relock this bootloader too !!! if you see a solution :it's false ! it's a big joke ...
if you decide to unlock it : it's your own choise ! your money ... the phone will go to garbage ,trash....in case of problem
That's why too many people don't want to unlock it ....and wait a solution for to root with MM ! if someone of developpers really search a solution...
cm13 is still in "test" at the begining ! go for 1 new years of devellopment with many periodics buggs ,with lots of adds merged and revert...... after cm11 and 12.1 ! lol ! and with poor camera ....etc...

Thanks for the response. Damn, that's a nuisance, so it looks like i'll be stuck without root or any custom ROM's for the moment. I do see what you're saying so i'll perhaps resist unlocking the bootloader for a while yet. Hopefully a root solution for Marshmallow will arrive soon, in the meantime all we can do is wait.
yes....
As far as i'm concerned ,i'm with LP rooted , waiting an eventual solution for MM too ...
i don't know if someone look for that ..... but generally ,for unlock a bootloader unofficially ,there are many "energy" everywhere !!!
And no news about Chainfire and others bigs hackers......
In my case i didn't void the warranty. Here in Italy l, at least.
I bought my G4 a couple of weeks ago and I unlocked the bootloader and rooted from day one. After a few hours of testing, the camera simply died... Factory reset, flashed new stock rom, custom rom... nothing worked so, bottom line, it was a hardware issue. I said to myself "there goes my money". After a couple of days I decided to go to the store and see how much it will cost me to repair it, giving the fact that I unlocked the bootloader and I was 100% sure that I've voided the warranty. The guy from the store quickly recognizes me and ask what the problem was. I said that the camera "dieded" and I need to know how much it will cost the repair because the bootloader is unlocked. Now, he explained to me that the problem with the bootloader is that you won't void the warranty if it isn't a software related problem. Only problem was that if you have a hardware related problem, they will FIX your phone for free, NOT REPLACE IT. So, after 4-5 days they sent my phone back 100% functional without any fees.
Remember that I bought my phone from an LG Store and i think that their policies should be the same everywere, correct me if I'm wrong. Now, i don't want to give false hopes to anyone and start to scream everywhere "HEY, UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER, YOU WON'T VOID THE WARRANTY"... no, i will not say this things but this is what i've experienced and i don't have any reasons to lie.
Cheers!
strange ... i'm very curious to see LG rules texts exactly ... becayse it seem that they have said things like "if you unlock devise,in case of problems ,it's completely useless to contact LG for warranty ,it's lost ! " ==> that's what we have to understand ...

Yes, it is strange. Before i decided to buy g4 i read a lot about bootloader unlock and root, and i was 100% sure that unlocking i will lose warranty. I really don't know what to believe either. Maybe LG stores policies are different from store to store, country to country?
I'm in the UK and when unlocking bootloader it clearly states many times on lg website that warranty is void on BL unlock maybe it depends who you deal with in the store

LG G4 H815 International Bootloader, OneClickRoot, Root, other Q's

Hi Everyone;
I have a few questions:
I am trying to unlock the bootloader for my nephews LG G4 but it seems like there is no way of doing it.
I followed the official method, entered the IMEI number and the DEVICE ID but I get a warning that they do not match and that we have X tries remaining before device gets locked. Right now it's sitting at 7 more tries remaining.
He had the bootloop issue a few months ago (phone wasn't unlocked or rooted or anything), sent it to LG, they fixed it and sent it back. The only explanation I can find is that the DEVICE ID doesn't match the IMEI number anymore because of them changing hardware? I really don't understand why the official method doesn't work or keeps saying that Device ID does not match your PHONE!
Anyway, I tried to root without unlocking the bootloader, and that didn't work either.
Is there a way to unlock this damn device without the official method?
If there isn't... Does using the One-Click-Root method work with this phone? He doesn't want to pay $80 AUD not knowing whether or not it will work...
Also all of this, just to fix the GPS Locking problem that HOPEFULLY would work if we change ROMS. Is there a way to fix the GPS problem without unlocking, rooting, and changing ROMS?
Send mail to LG about yours problem, they will send unlock bin
I had the same problem

Nexus 5X bootloader locked, PIN locked, & bootloop

Hello,
I'm in a rather peculiar situation. I bought a Nexus 5X from eBay recently (I know) which was advertised as having the common bootloop issue, of which I saw there seems to be a fix for. After receiving the phone I found that not only does it bootloop, but the bootloader is still locked and the previous owner has set up the phone and used a PIN lock on the lockscreen, leaving me unable to get into the settings to enable Developer settings and unlock the bootloader. Does anyone know of any kind of fix for this? Just to reiterate, I cannot flash any stock rom, and there is no custom recovery on the device. I am not new to unlocking bootloaders and flashing custom firmware, and I have contacted the previous owner to no avail. Any help in this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I have searched the forums but as my situation is compounded of multiple problems (locked BL, no custom recovery and PIN lock) I feel like I have hit a dead end.
I am with ya
I have the exact situation i would love to know if you have figured it out. i have two of them as a package deal from ebay. Both 5x.
advertised as bootloop. wont go past the google screen.. one them i actually got to fire up but then ran into the pin thing...
Can you get in fastboot mode ? If so, you can try flashing a custom recovery

Phone locked: Not allowed to be used with authorization KG Locked

Purchased this phone in this condition. It is a US unlocked model SM-N975U1.
When the phone boots the screen immediately goes to locked screen stating "Phone locked: This phone can't be used without authorization (0001)". so I am unable to get into Dev. Options to look at anything.
From searching on here there are not a lot of solutions to get past this and the ones I have found involve flashing the Combo/Eng ROM which is not possible anymore without the Samsung token/permission. And on this phone I can't flash anything because of the KG Locked condition not allowing anything to be flashed. "All binaries are not allowed to be flashed due to KG Locked"
Does anybody know what can be done?
Ready to just swap out the main board and be done with it.
Thanks in advance.
Added pics but the site seems to be having problems showing them.
The only thing I can say to you, is this, problems as the one you are exposing here, always are somewhat unsolvable due to the device having a shady or dubious history, legally obtained devices, are always easy to fix by official channels, you will not get any help to unlock or crack the security of any device here in XDA

Nexus 5X relocks bootloader but dosn't say NO RPMB

Hello,
So I had a dead Nexus 5X and got another motherboard for it from china. I have mannaged to flash a coustom ROM but the motherboard relocks after reboot. Is there any solution to run OEM unlock every time(which wipes the phone)? It would mean I could update my OS which would be cool. Also, when I do flash some files like NanoDroid(which touches /system) it fails sometimes. Is there any soloution to this? I have seen somethings about NO RPMB online but that dosn't show up for me on the bootloader/fastboot screen. Any help would be super cool!
Thanks,
TransQuinnzel
EDIT:
Just to say, sorry if this has already been awnsered but I couldn't find anything online.
No matter what " No RPMB " on display or not, your board is most likely refurbish product by LG after notorious bootloop.
It's mean bootloader would no longer stay unlocked. Maybe LG(or the seller) fixed and deleated the message " No RPMB ".
I'm on the same boat. Unfortunately there seems to be no solution as far as I searched.
You should better send back the board to the seller and ask to replace unlockable or unlocked board.
Please read these articles. You will find what you can do with locked device and costom recovery.
