Sprint datafix for Note7 Roms (I need help) - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am very new. I have never built one from scratch. But I am tired of trying all these fixes from other variants and they don't work.
I want to build my own. is there a program I need or do I just get the files from an original note 7 sprint and put them in a zip file for flashing?

I know I talked to you on another post. I just seen this one. Did you get it solved?
It depends what firmware the ROM is made to run off of, but yes your replacing files with your stock ones. If the ROM runs on marshmallow, you could pull the files from latest PH4 firmware.
Some problems are more technical though and require coding. But the basis of a fix is 1. your pulling all the 'ril' and 'csc' files from stock /system/lib folder. 2. Your APN and audio mixer files from /system/etc folder. And 3. Editing the build.prop file.
4. The hardest thing to figure out is what CSC lines work with your phone. There in the others& features XML files that are in /system/'csc'.
It depends on what's broke. Just make sure you have a way out of any problem you make. If your trying to trouble shoot something don't change too much at one time.
I don't encourage just anyone reading this to attempt. If you don't feel comfortable don't do it. Wait for someone with more skills to help.
But I answered this question just for the fact that i believe and encourage self education and tinkering. That's the mind set that started all this hacking and modding to begin with.
Hope this was the answer you were looking for.

well a little update. I have a LTE data working, upload 9 megs, download 12 megs, I have MMS working through LTE, both sending and recieving, I have phone calls working. I am currently working on getting SMS messages to send, I can recieve them fine. if I manually switch the modem to CDMA I can send the text. but it doesn't auto switch. I am in dire need of the stock Note 7 Others.xml and build.prop files. as the only files I have are from china and have a crapload of disables in them to disable stuff like google maps etc.

so everything is working LTE data, LTE mms, sms send, recieve, phone calls,Wi-Fi going to clean up do some testing and post it . this should work for any note 7 rom

I sent you a PM the other day. If you are here asking for help from the rest of us then I should let you know that i have already completed my Sprint N7 base rom using the PGC stock tar ball. I would be willing to work together to get the Sprint data services working correctly so I can wrap this rom up and release it for everybody to enjoy. If you have had success in getting data/cell services working then please either PM me here at XDA and I will add you to our Google Hangouts where a lot of us Sprint N4 users are. Otherwise reply and let's get this thing done. :good:

2.3.4 Gingerbread for the Sprint Tab [CDMA][DEV-FILES]

For those of you that want to get in on early GB development but don't have the skill to compile it from source, I compiled the new source code that dropped for the gingerbread build for the Sprint Tab. This is NOT an installable rom. This is a zip containing the compiled AOSP kernel and system, purely for research/development purposes. Download, unzip and play. I doubt this will boot on a CDMA device without the proper bootloaders, but you're welcome to try. You can even develop AOSP roms from it that will probably run on your tab after the update on the 5th. Enjoy.

Hope someone comes up with a great rom be it asop or other. Im truly looking for great things to come out of this.

im expecting alot from these files!!!
a working 2.3 rom means the following for cdma tabs:
1.working skype video calls!
2.Working hulu!
3. Last but not least, Working Netflix!
it would make the tablet experience so much better for us CDMA owners.
i want to be the first to make a bug list on the first dev to release a rom
it would be a honor
and glad to see you finally posting something space. you have been in hiding so long, you rival osama lol

I guess I should add: you'll need the driver libs to get this running... you'll have to gank what you can from the gsm GB build. Stuff in /system/lib/hw and /system/lib/egl and so on. Just compare and you will get the idea.

Thanks! This is useful. I am merging the CDMA kernel sources with GSM right now and the PowerVR module is updated so it looks like I will have to switch to newer OpenGL driver from this archive.

I hope it's useful. Sadly, the proprietary files weren't included in the source, so of course you'll have to patchwork from other builds or wait until the official release for some of those.

Open adb shell and run this:
tar -czvf /mnt/sdcard/system_dump.tar.gz /system/
it will create file system_dump.tar.gz in on your sdcard with the contents of your factoryfs (system) partition.
alright! So when my update comes i will do just that and put it on my dropbox, providing you a download link!

I've got it up and running on my tab and there's at least 1 other person from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148447 that has it up and running as well.. Now I just have to wait till i'm at work tomorrow to get ADB to work, and I'll dump /system.

(Calling all devs) Porting a build(s) for continuum!!!

Hey guys!
i am very new at this but i have ported a build from fascinate over to our continuum and am looking for some devs to jump in and start helping me fix stuff.
this is very early but you can grab my first port here.
it is very much not ready for every day use.
Please flash if you are going to help me fix this for everyone
Code:
[B]
Rap sheet of things to fix will be here:
Screen placement overlaps the ticket screen, i was thinking we could
somehow code this thing so it will ignore the ticker
screen and only use the top.
Also we need to enable the soft keys.
Keyboard is non existent.
phone is not functional yet.[/B]
Well since this phone is virtually Unbrickable.... why not try our best.

thanks for the well wishes... anyone know where to go in the rom to edit the screen dimentions yknow so it uses the top screen only? i think this is kernal
yea the problem with ports on the continuum is u cant flash mtd files in recovery a friend and i tried to port the fascinate miui 2.3.2 rom to the continuum we got everything resised and made it flashable but it just said installation aborted. the fascinate can flash mtd files straight from recovery and the continuum can not.
i still have all the files for miui if someone wants them pm me the problem is converting it to a .tar file so we can install via odin.

The demensions seem to be within the framework, or at least the call to the kernel for the screen size..
So porting it is pointless, because you'll have to modify the framework back to the continuum's which would defeat the point...
As far as I think/know
That is actually why I stopped

From what I have seen, in other posts about other phones, the screen size is written into the kernel. So, to do this, we need the source code for the kernel.
joshkoss: Great effort, but to do any serious mods, we must have the kernel source code. Without that, there is no way to compile the fixes/changes into the kernel. I have been able to use modprobe to do a few things, but, generally, the modules must be compiled against the source code of the kernel to work properly.
If someone can get us the kernel source code, we will be golden... Up until then, porting anything is not going to be fun.
If one was REALLY interested in doing this, one would take the generic Gingerbread kernel and ROM and work a build from the ground up that way. Especially since I don't think Samsung, nor Verizon will be handing out the kernel source code.
There is an off chance that Samsung might give the Continuum kernel source code to a developer AFTER Verizon sunsets this phone... (It's a very remote chance...)
Verizon gave me this number for the Samsung Mobile Helpline: (888) 987-4357. I haven't called them yet, but if enough of us call, someone MIGHT be able to knock something loose... Who knows. Let me know if I can help... This phone is my only phone, so I can't go flashing it every night to try things, but, over the weekend, I can try things.
Ciao!
I agree...collectively we should be capable of anything...even gettn sammy source...sumhow

Jelly Bean wifi calling apk

Can someone please share this for me? I am using the i9300 and having wifi calling will be a real improvement for me. I've tried searching, all I get so far is that the apk works only on touchwiz (which is what I have), but nobody's put up a link to this mythical thing
It only works for Tmobile, if you're using international S3 it won't work.
It's not just a apk, it's in the framework too.

its way way more complicated then what you think it is.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The pack has to be built for touchwiz because of the libs used to make it work.
You need the wifi calling provisioning or it won't route the UMA traffic over the right T-Mobile gateway.
Files:
system/app/com.android.kineto.apk
system/lib/libganril.so
system/lib/lib_ril_switch.so <--- may be custom modded for vendor (ie: Samsung, HTC etc)
system/lib/libkineto.so
system/lib/libreference-ril.so
system/lib/librilswitch.so
There may or may not be other files but you can see it's not just an APK.

Thank you, that's a great start! When I get back home today, I'll take a stab at extracting these from a T999 update and try it out. If it works, I'll see how complicated creating an update.zip is and package it.

That is a start but im afraid that's about all it is. You'd also need wificall.apk (com.movial.wifiicall) and probably some binary files.
Also, even if you managed to get all the correct files, you would then need to port the code over to settings so you can use it. There is also probably code in systemui, framework, etc. I just doubt that simply flashing the files to your phone will work...unless the i9300 version of tw has it already and you just need it to work for tmobile. I dont think itll be a quick or easy thing to do.

[How To]Group Messaging AND MMS over WiFi calling for T989

Hello! This is my first write up. I'm sorry if it's in the wrong place so Moderators please move to the appropriate place.
I've done a lot of searching for group messaging for our phones (T989) and have done a lot of experimenting myself to get this to work right. I wanted to wait to create this write up until I had it working perfectly but since I'm helping a friend with an i727 Skyrocket (att GS2) I thought I'd just make the write up now. For those who have the necessary tools I've included links to decompile the files and mod them yourselves (which I've done) and those without the necessary tools I've included the working files from my stock deodexed UVMC6 ROM.
First of all threaded group messaging works on the T989 (Also working via WiFi-Calling) May even work (group messaging that is) on other Devices running stock 4.1.2.
The bugs that I haven't been able to/had the time to work out yet are as follows:
1. I can't seem to figure out...yet*...how to filter your own phone number out of incoming MMS messages the results of this are any incoming MMS will default to group messages showing you and the other person in the group. Any incoming group messages will show you in the group so any reply you make will come back to yourself unless you add your own number to the spam list.
All these issues come from the same issue, I haven't had the time to figure out where the framework2.jar file is looking to identify your phone number to filter it out of the conversation thread.
Other than that, if you can live with this issue, or want to help me identify what it is and how to fix it I would love the help.
Now for the instructions:
.5. Read all the instructions ALL THE WAY THROUGH BEFORE YOU START
1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP NOW also backup your messages
2. If you haven't made a backup I'm not responsible for your stupidity. Actually, even if you did make a backup I'm still not responsible for your stupidity. Only for mine...and the untold number of times I've soft-bricked my phone working on this.
3. Backup your messages
4. Reboot into recovery and install the attached zip
5. Reboot into normal and wait for Android to upgrade
6. Using your favorite root browser go to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases and delete the following files: (will delete your messages)
smsmms.db
smsmms.db-shm
smsmms.db-wal
7. IF NOT using an odexed ROM then skip to #11. IF you ARE using an odexed ROM:
a. Use your favorite root browser and go to /system/app and delete:
SecMMS.odex
SecTelephonyProvider.odex
b. Go to /system/framework and delete:
framework2.odex
8. Reboot to recovery
9. Clear cache
10. Reboot into normal
11. Enjoy group texting with iPhones and other group texting devices!
All credit and thanks go to the following developers and their threads from which I have learned so much!
jovy23 - for providing the info to edit a decompiled SecMMS.apk to enable group messaging via WiFi-Calling and other mods Info in his thread
regulusv7 - for proving group messaging in TW could be done Info here
loserskater - for the framework2.jar edits and the smsmms.db His thread here
And anyone else who I may have forgotten who helped along the way.
The info in the threads provided from those I learn from should be sufficient if you want to make changes for other ROMS or other devices.
I still want to figure out the threading issue with the sending messages back to myself by not during the holidays. I hope you guys find this information useful!
Thanks for posting this. I've been needing something like this. Will give it a try later.

I don't know if it will work for 4.0.4...I guess you could make a nandroid and try it! If you don't want the group messaging I guess you can just do the SecMms.apk...thats the file that allows you to send MMS over wifi-calling. At least in my testing when I tried the same file from a Verizon S3 or an ATT Note 2, or even any Mms.apk from AOSP it wouldn't send mms over wifi unless I was using SecMms.apk from a T-Mobile ROM.
Good luck!

|Mod|How-To| Patched Google Wallet |28 Jan 2014|

This is a guide for patching Google Wallet for the S4, which is based off the original work (here and here) by @loserskater. There is also a flashable zip linked below.
This mod is really simple actually. You just need to grab some files from the GT-I9505G and change some CSC code.
You will need the following files from the GT-I9505G:
Code:
/system/app/NfcNci.apk
/system/etc/nfcee_access.xml
/system/lib/hw/nfc_nci.MSM8960.so
/system/lib/libnfc_nci_jni.so
/system/lib/libnfc-nci.so
You will also need to grab the most recent app from loserskater's thread.
Now just place all the above files in the appropriate locations in your ROM.
In your ROM, navigate to /system/csc/feature.xml and open that document with a text editor.
Find the NFC code and replace with the following from the GT-I9505G:
Code:
<!-- NFC -->
<CscFeature_NFC_SetSecureEventType>GOOGLE</CscFeature_NFC_SetSecureEventType>
<CscFeature_SmartcardSvc_SetAccessControlType>NONE</CscFeature_SmartcardSvc_SetAccessControlType>
<CscFeature_NFC_DefaultCardModeConfig>ESE</CscFeature_NFC_DefaultCardModeConfig>
<CscFeature_NFC_EmbeddedSEType>TypeA</CscFeature_NFC_EmbeddedSEType>
<CscFeature_NFC_DefStatus>ON</CscFeature_NFC_DefStatus>
Notes:
If you flash the zip below Google Wallet will work, but some of your ROM features may change due to the included CSC file. If so, simply ask you ROM dev to update their CSC file with the code above.
If you are modding a TW 4.3 ROM, you will need to use files from a GT-I9505G 4.3 ROM. The same applies for 4.4 when we eventually get the update.
Do not install wallet updates from the Play Store. This will most likely break the patch.
Lot's of additional info available on loser's thread.
If you are outside of the US, you may need the disable device/network check Xposed module by entropy512 (also see post #8).
Download (Wallet version 2.0-R141-v14):
As with anything on xda, flash at your own risk.

I don't use it either (though I may start). I just wanted to help put a stop to some of the shenanigans going on in the S4 forums regarding this mod.
Tried this on Att mk2 stock, and I get "tap and pay setup failed" in wallet

I had it working fine, played around a little more, then I got the same error as you. I thought I had broke my secure element, but I guess that didn't happen.
I'll try and get this fixed tonight.
So in my feature.xml I don't have nfc. Looked and looked. Also I can't find the system/lib/ect. .... I have a i377m. Any ideas

So I got it working. Just get the X posed mod google wallet root and region check remover. Then download the Google wallet apk. Then go to Google wallet on your browser and change your Addy to any US address. Worked for me after all that. Make sure to change your address before opening google wallet app.

I updated the DL link in the OP with what should be a fully working version (didn't make a transaction yet).
If you installed the previous version you will need to clear Wallet cache and data before flashing the new version.

Nice find. I'll direct non-US users to your post.
I went in this order, over wrote files from 19505 rom, placed latest mod from other thread, flashed zip from here and Nfc crashes. Is there a particular order I should be doing? I even tried a variant of editing the build.prop

What device do you have?
There is no proper order, and nothing else besides the zip in the OP should be needed (except for possibly the Xposed module).
I suggest re-flashing your ROM, then flashing only the zip in the OP.
Att S4, on mk2

This is a guide for patching Google Wallet for the S4, which is based off the original work (here and here) by @loserskater. There is also a flashable zip linked below.
This mod is really simple actually. You just need to grab some files from the GT-I9505G and change some CSC code...

Sounds like a lot of work.
There may be an easier way to get wallet working on 4.3. @loserskater posted a flashable zip that included his modded wallet along with the necessary files/edits from the S4 Google Play Edition in the Verizon forums. Not positive this will work on the AT&T version but this is the same approach @dannyben used to get wallet working for us on 4.3 before he locked his thread and pulled the files.
Check out this thread for the zip.
Also take a look at dannyben's thread. Even though it's locked down, it still has some good info including stuff specific to AT&T ROMs and a patch for a couple of issues for those of us running Golden Eye.
Assuming everything else works, if you're running a ROM with an international base you may get fc's for NFC Payment. You can just freeze/delete that app without any issues.
Thank you!!! I have tried everything on my MDOB v20 (4.3) ROM, old versions, many many mods, and this one fixed it! I haven't tried it yet, but says tap and pay ready, which is the farthest along I have gotten (before it wouldn't even load).
Thanks!!
UPdate- Well I have access to Tap to Pay, but it simply doesn't work at a shop. I guess I need to try another route... So frustrating!
a good place to test NFC tap N pay is at CVS and MCDonalds...other places are a hit and miss i noticed.
