a few questions about the pixel xl - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hello friends I decided to buy the pixel XL and so far I'm very happy with it coming from a Samsung Galaxy Edge 7 however I have a few questions about some of the problems with the phone that I'm having at the moment when the phone is roaming I cannot see if the phone is connected to the 4G network is there any way to display that? Also compared to my Samsung phone the 4G speeds are very slow I cannot explain why that is because when I tested in my Samsung phone the streets are really good but with the pixel I'm only getting maybe 20% of the speed that I'm getting with the Samsung

[Q] Note 2 dilemma need feedback

Hello everyone,
I am having a serious crisis. So let me give you a little back story. I previously had a unlocked gnex and I had been using it with straight talk att and simple mobile. My particular phone didn't like straight talk at all I was always having data problems and the reception and data were very slow. Simple mobile worked great and very fast and the soft data cap I found was a lot higher than att's. I sold my gnex a few weeks ago before the nexus 4 launch so I could get more money for it. I have been using a Nokia E5-00 in the mean time on straight talk and fr some reason it has been great way better reception and the data is actually faster than what I was getting on my gnex even though this phone only supports hspa+7.5 instead f the full hspa+21 the gnex had. I really want a Galaxy Note 2, but I have been hesitant of ATT's network and I am afraid I will have the same roblems as I had with my gnex. So I wanted the T-mobile version because it would give me the flexibility to switch between the above listed carriers and since prepaid doesn't have lte support I could get the hspa+42 and know I will get faster data than ATT. I have to get the phone from amazon, long story but that is where I have to get it, they dont seem to be getting the t-mo version anytime soon and everywhere is on back order, but I cant deal with using this E5 any longer. I can get a ATT Galaxy note 2 and they just turned on LTE where I live in Columbus, Ohio. I had 2 questions I hope somebody can help me out with, since I am using prepaid and wont get LTE is there a hack to make the LTE work? Also is the HSPA+ on ATT going to provide faster speeds than before now that LTE has launched relieving some strain on hspa+ and providing more back-haul to the sites? Any incite would be gratefully apreciated

Is anyone having signal issues?

I will be coming from a Note 3 which was perfect until the Kitkat update. I now have horrible signal and am sick of it. I live in a rural area and want to make sure the Note 4 does not have the same issues before I spend another $700 on a phone (I have unlimited data). Thanks!

every phone is different since most of them have different CPU and antenna. it's too soon to tell though as most folks haven't even received their pre orders yet.
I have this question as well. I'll be coming from an S3, and it has terrible signal strength. It's the one thing that I've always hated about the S3. I'll be interested to see everyone's results.
My N3 had terrible reception, I moved to LG G3 which was much better. I switched to new N4 yesterday and this phone outperforms both on signal strength. I don't drop data or voice anywhere I used to with the previous 2 phones.

I'm in the exact same position. I'm really hoping the N4 outperforms the S3.

Yes, I realize all of that. I just wanted to get the question out there.

It is still early but initial impressions seem to be positive. I am fond of Motorola for their excellent radios. Coming from a moto x, I don't see any difference in signal. And comparing from my previous note 3, it seems to have improved in my area.
Worse case is that if it doesn't work well in your area, you should be able to return the phone and get something else without incurring a restocking fee. I was hesitant since I wanted to wait for the droid turbo but since playing with the note 4, I'm keeping it. Good luck.
Im having a few signal issues i only get 1 bar some places but it doesnt seem to affect call quality

I had a note 3 that held a LTE signal at 2 bars very well at my house until the 4.4.4 update, after that update it would be one 3g most of the time.
I got my note 4 yesterday and had it all day and it never once dropped to 3g, It held the LTE signal very well.
The note 4 is definitely better than the note 3 as far as signal quality.
I can verify this because I just bought a note 4 coming from a note 3. I was unable to get service in my house where I lived as well as many other places I should have. I bought the note 4 yesterday and all my service issues have been fixed. So yes the signal is much better.

using note 4 today and best service i have had to date. phone has great dbm and first speedtest pulled 47 mbps download!!!
My Verizon N4 so far has slightly better signal than my LG G3, which had good service to begin with. No complaints so far with signal strength / net speed. So far my only complaint is the message + lag when taking a photo indoors. Reminds me of the annoying image stabilization option on the S5 that slowed the camera way down

This shouldn't be a concern on a different device, as Android isn't like Windows (in that a specific version is compatible on all PCs). The firmware (OS) on your device is tailor made for that device, and because of this, the concern you have about signal quality on the Note 4 vs the Note 3 isn't valid (not that it's not a valid concern, but that it doesn't apply). This is why you can't flash firmware from one model to a different model, and the only way for you to garnish an answer is by either speaking to someone in your area that has a Note 4 on VZW or buy a Note 4. I'm not sure if the Note 3 had the ability, but from the Note 4 settings it appears that you make Google Voice your default phone service... not just for dialing, but for receiving as well. I can't verify this, as I haven't tried it out yet, however it would help in your situation. As far as signal goes, I've had no issues with my Note 4 since buying it.
Something to consider... the Nexus 6 comes out next month and one of the unique features it has, over that of the bootloader being unlocked, is that is is the first smartphone with a hot swappable SIM... meaning you can buy it on Verizon and switch at random with other U.S. CDMA and GSM carriers by simply swapping SIMs. The only two differences between the Note 4 and the NX6 is the NX6 has a 13MP camera vs that of the 16MP on the Note 4 and it doesn't come with a S Pen (it also doesn't have the novelty features like a heartbeat monitor or UV exposure reader)... hardware is all the same, quad core 2.7Ghz processor, 3GB of RAM, rapid charge, etc. I'm assuming you have Verizon here, but you know you don't have to pay full retail upfront right? Because manufacturer's and carriers can't test for every variable, occasionally a firmware update will cause an issue with signal viability... have you informed Verizon of the issue, as well as made Samsung aware?
Something else to keep in mind... Android 5.0 [Lollipop] will be released to the Note 4 within a few months, and if you prefer a rooted device, then I would caution against buying anything other than the NX6, as it is highly improbable rooting will be possible on bootloader locked devices running Android 5... is it impossible, no; highly improbable, yes. Checkout ChainFire's Google+ post from 10/18 or 10/19 for an indepth explanation as to why.
This phone gets FANTASTIC reception! Better then iPhone 5 which dropped 4g all the time and better then even my Galaxy S5. MUCH better then the Note 3 which has about the same Signal issues as the iphone 6......
I have a iPhone 6plus and note 4 and my note isn't getting more then two bars when my iPhone is getting 4...could my phone be faulty?

Thanks guys for the feedback. I understand that signal problems with one phone are unrelated to signal issues with another phone. I was just giving my background that I don't want to go down the road I have with the N3.
Asking about signal issues with the National is a valid question.

note 5 from Verizon on att network problem

Hello fellas. . Long time that I hadn't been active in this forums.
Long story short. I bought the marvelous note 7 and I felt in love within minutes, a week later had to returned it. After that I tried the S7 edge, V20 and iPhone 7plus with no luck bc my note 7 left the bar way up there. So I downgraded to note 5
Bought one from Verizon and it was unlocked, it works once a changed the apn setting, same speed and all the goodies also. I have the unlimited plan from att and they forbid the hotspot with this plan. Is no way around it. But with the note 5 from Verizon I have unlimited hotspot just so u guys know. . The only one drama that I'm experiencing its that when I get an incoming call my data drops. . Can't get around the problem I had been playing w setting but just can't.
Any help or advice it's much appreciated it
Have a good day one guys and thanks
I have same issues I have a n920a on straight talk I constantly get Internet connection not active or something like that
I do know one of the differences between the two versions is that the Verizon phone lacks LTE band 17, AT&T's primary LTE band. I don't know if this is the core of your issue, but is a difference between the two.

oneplus 5T and LTE speeds

well sadly ill miss my old phone (LG G3) but its time i move on. Oneplus5T is the top of my list esp because of specs and price. camera and wireless charging doesnt matter to me (assuming if i did my research correctly!).
my question is this: i have ATT, how is the oneplus 5T (or even previous oneplus phones) LTE Speeds and connectivity compare to phones that are actually offered by ATT? such as LG or Samsung. is the LTE download speed the same? slower? are the calls stable(dont drop frequently). I just ask around and some people say the speeds arent the same. any input? i appreciate any input!
thanks in advance!
I have experienced faster speeds compared to an iPhone, it's going to be based off location though, one spot I get nearly 80mbps at one time, I work at att and I have tested multiple devices and it was pretty comparable and even beat out some flagship
I get about 45mbps with my 5T at home to where I got 13mbps with my 3T and att LG v20

Have the IMEI issues been resolved with the 5t and ATT? Im thinking of getting a 5t and porting over a number switching to ATT.

Pixel 2 XL - 4G in Mexico possible?

Not sure of carrier makes a difference (considering the USA Pixel 2's all have the same bands)
Is the Pixel 2 XL Capable of 4G in Mexico? I was on the Verizon Wireless International Trip Planner site and 4G service was not checked off as being possible. All other devices on my account (iPhone 7, iPhone X, Galaxy S7 Edge) have 4G listed as being possible.
I'm hoping the Verizon Wireless website is wrong. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe someone can chime in who's taken their Pixel 2 XL on vacation to Cancun or something...
Thanks!
I took my 2 XL to Puerto Vallarta over New Year's, and I'm on Verizon. No problems with roaming. I was able to get LTE (4G) service, but it was not common. Usually got 3g. It depended on the carrier: it would bounce around between two different carriers, one of which would always be 3g, the other LTE. This was the same as my wife's iPhone 7.
Overall it worked ok though the coverage was pretty poor in some specific spots like down by the beach.
I took my OG XL to Cancun last year and I can't remember which signal type I had, but I do remember not having any network issues while there.
Things like my Snapchats uploading took a few seconds longer compared to here at home, but nothing unbearable!
Had LTE all the time I was in Cancun last December. But, Im on TMobile...
Thanks.. So the LTE band for our phones is possible on tmobile. Means it's possible with Verizon. Will cross my fingers!
I dont recall either when I had my Nexus 6P lol.
