Tempered Glass for the Moto z Play - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

I currently have a Moto X Style and I was frustrated about the fact that 99% of tempered glasses are not compatible due to the curved 2.5D screen.
Does the Moto Z Play have the same problem? Or will I find compatible screen guards for it.

Same

I have a super shieldz tempered glass screen protector on mine, seems to fit just fine.

You will easily get glasses completely compatible for the Z Play.

As tgmotoman said above- Supershieldz works fine here.
I've had supershieldz on 4 phones now- no issues with them. I was surprised to get a 3 pack for my Z Play for cheaper money than a 2 pack for my wifes Moto G Play.

Recommended hardned screen protectors for Moto G

So I broke my screen protector the other day and was in need of a new one. I buy all my protectors from ebay beacuse they are cheap as hell (in stores 1x protecter can cost 15 euros, while on ebay they go for about 1 euro) but sometimes they don't fit properly. So I thought we could launch a thread to discuss which are the best. Also I will only list "hardned" or "extra thick" screen protectors, beacuse they are alot better than the flappy plastic ones that are impossible to apply.

Tempered Glass Screen Protectors

Bought a tempered glass last night (link below, along with image), and it adhered perfectly, and looks amazing.
Moto G5 Plus Screen Protector, Yootech [2-Pack] Moto G5 Plus Tempered Glass Screen Protector [ANTI-SCRATCH] [BUBBLE-FREE][ULTRA-CLEAR] for Motorola Moto G plus 5th Generation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XMY75GX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_o8g4ybG5GRYKJ
The speaker cutout at the top is wider than needed. Doesn't cover proximity sensor and looks asymmetric.
How did you put it by yourself without any air bubbles?
No matter what brand of tempered glass you buy for the G5, on Amazon or anywhere else, they all have the same size top cutout. The proximity sensor is not going to get damaged with how thin the opening is.
As for the bubbles, if you follow the directions included with any of the tempered glass these days, you should never have bubbles, otherwise, you did it wrong. Very easy to install without any bubbles.
Not necessarily. A badly made tempered glass brand will have sub par results, even with a perfect install. I'm coming from a phone with a slightly curved edge, where it was trial and error to find a good one. Thank goodness the Moto G5 plus has a flat screen <3.
I've used some "tempered glass" screen protectors that were good, but the most recent one I got for my Oneplus One seemed like really cheap glass that chips much easier (even just from hitting other stuff in my pocket like keys).
Now I've got a Moto G5 Plus on the way and I want to find out which of these dozen different brands of "9H Hardness" screen protectors are the best quality/durable - and, if the once that claim "oleophobic anti-fingerprint coating" actually work well?
I'm guessing some of the protectors actually have a good coating and some just said "let's write that so they sell better" even if they don't.
Has anyone used the fingerprint sensor one-button nav with a tempered glass screen protector on? Does it interfere in any way or make it more difficult to register proper swipes?

I got this one: http://a.co/4TGZKPS
I've had no problem with the finger print scanner or one button navigation. I even found one button nav easier since the home button is more recessed.
It went on perfectly with no bubbles and seems to have a good oleophobic coating.

I picked up the same tempered glass off your recommendation. It looks great and was easy to install. Thanks for sharing. I looked at a few others and think the Yootech was a smart choice.
Picked up the op's protector as well. It's a little annoying that the holes don't perfectly line up, but it went on without a hitch and works well.
Is this good?
I ordered it (Cash on Delivery so I can always cancel)

I picked up a 3 pack by Mr. Shield. The only complaint I have is the glass doesn't quite extend all the way to the edges, I don't mind the oversized speaker and camera cutout's
Nuglass screen protectors are available for Moto G5 Plus. I have found them to have an excellent fit and are resistant to finger prints.

Use the bathroom method... Turn on hot water in shower for about 3 to 5 min to get it steamy in there. Turn off water and let the steam settle the dust out of the air. Then apply the protector.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but 9H hardness only refers to scratch hardness and doesn't mean it will be chip or crack resistance.
I have gone through 3 different brand "tempered glass" protectors from ebay and not one has fit properly or stayed on. Even those that said 2.5d... I used to have a galaxy alpha and the first 3$ TG protector I bought from ebay worked flawlessly... Is it because it's still a fairly new phone?
I just wish the protectors fit the speaker better. Everyone single one on Amazon seems to fit slightly off
You should definitely go for Orzly Tempered Glass. I've used this brand's glass on my moto G2 and the protection was perfect. It was not too thick, so I was able to use a TPU case and have the glass installed as well.

If you're talking about the cutout for it being a little wider on the left, that is for a sensor. If you hold the phone up to the light, you can see the sensor there.

Okay now I see it. It just seems like wasted space because the sensor blends in really well.

screen protector recommendation

Hello I just recently got my self a pixel 2 XL and I'm looking for a good screen protector. I've done some looking around and found ALOT of options but it seems that screen protector quality has gone way down since I last bought one (for an older phone).
What I'm looking for:
a temptered glass, non do matrix, case friendly, non edge adhesive screen protector that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (for what the product is).
If anyone has had a good experience with anything that would fit the criteria please let me know.
Thank you for any and all responses and recommendations.
I dunno which ones like other people but for me is important protec edge to edge, curved screen protector. I found ome on amazon:
---
NALIA (2-Pack) Screen Protector compatible with Google Pixel 2 XL, 9H Full-Cover Tempered Glass Phone Protective Display Film, Durable LCD Saver*Protection, Shatter-Proof Front - Transparent (Black)
Sorry but I can't post photo.

I saw those, and I like the idea and the product seemsd really well reviewed just really pricy for a screen protector. I mean I have most of the stuff that makes those good (i.e. loca, uv lamp) I just don't have the actual screen protector.
Had the Pixel 2 XL since the release and I also used glass protectors but they're just nowhere near as good as they are for other phones. It's really odd that there aren't more affordable screen protectors besides the Whitedome or whatever it's called. It's also the one that I refuse to spend that much money on, lol.
The reviews on Amazon are also insane since a crap ton of them are fake reviews besides the 1 star ones. Although this isn't a glass protector, keep this one in mind. [emoji106]
After trying multiple brands of screen protectors, mainly curved ones, I decided to try a film one. After messing with the S10 and watching the review on this screen protector, I gave it a shot, and hands down, I don't regret it. Has to be my favorite so far, even though I was iffy about it at first.

Applying it was a bit new to me, but I managed to apply it without getting anything underneath it, and I've never been happier.

Three main thing keeping me away from the film screen protectors it's they usually have noticeably more resistance during use than the tempted glass alternatives. How did that one feel when using?

It feels more like the protector that comes with the S10. It's a wet apply, and feels really smooth compared to the other film protectors. I know the film type you're talking about, and I've used this one for 8 days now. I guess the only bad part about this screen would be if you get something under it.
If you do happen to mess up during installation, it says they'll send you another one no problem, but I recommend at least giving this one a shot. [emoji14]

I've recently started using Screenknight film screen protector, and whilst it does have more resistance than a glass screen ... Using it with my Unicorn Beetle Pro (after removing the built in screen protector) it makes my phone feel indestructible ... Much better than the glass because it wraps around the edge of the screen which is then covered completely with my case ... I'd does a have a very slight "orange peel" effect if looking in the right light, but all in all I'm much happier with this than any of the many glass screens I have tried and wasted money on !

Haven't tried that one but I'm thinking the front one isn't going to adhere well (curved edges) and the back one covers up the beautiful matte finish with fingerprint gloss. I did get this one for the front Whitestone Dome EZ (it's only $10 not the $60 one) and it works beautifully with all cases since it only covers the screen portion. Since it stays on the flat part, it adheres beautifully and won't have lint or moisture trapped underneath or cause touch sensitivity issues. It is however ANYTHING BUT "EZ" to install properly. I burned 3 of them before the 4th one finally fully adhered. And that was after massaging each corner for about 20 minutes one at a time. But other than the corner adhesion issues, the shape, size, and feel of this thing is absolutely perfect. Edges are rounded nicely and there is a slight frame to allow swiping in on the screen without lifting it, and the dimensions make it compatible with virtually any case. But let us know how this works if you try it. There don't seem to be too many tempered glass screen protectors for these things yet.
I do have both Whitecastle dome at main and outer and looks amaising also you keep thet crystal fell and look. INFO im using spigen pro armor and causes the protector to get peel at the corners planning to modify the case just sanding that area for solve the issue

Question Pixel 6 Pro screen protector

Hi all,
I have a few questions around tempered glass screen protectors for curved screens like the Pixel 6 Pro, I was wondering if people had any answers to:
Are there any known brands that do good quality curved tempered glass screen protectors?
Has anyone seen any tempered glass screen protectors for the Pixel 6 Pro that follow the curved edge of the screen
How well do these fit on phones that have cases (I'm looking at spigen rugged armor and have noticed in the past that some screen protectors don't fit properly with the case)
Any input would be appreciated as I want to make sure my Pixel 6 Pro is properly protected from scratches and falls.
At the moment, do not buy a glass screen protector. Where is the screen of the Pixel 6 Pro curved? Until a high-quality curved protection is made

Just this morning this chick was standing next to me on the train and she had a phone with on-scree fingerprint reader and a screen protector. It looked ugly as ѕhit, because there was a hole for the fingerprint.
I haven't used screen protectors in years now. I just don't put my phone in the same pocket as keys and it's good as new.

I'm using a Whitestone Dome Glass on my OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren and there is no hole, where the FPS is...
And there's also no problem with the finger print reader with the applied Dome Glass.
So I really do hope that there's going to be a Dome Glass also for the Pixel 6 Pro (in the past Whitestone always hat a Pixel Dome Glass available...)

I heard many horror stories from people that had to remove the remains of Dome Glass after a drop (shattered, couldn't be removed in one piece). Did that ever happend to you? I planned on using Dome Glass for a while now, but it's quite expensive and I am not really looking forward to damaging my original display whilst trying to remove the debry of the protecting glass...
Any reason why you couldn't put a 6 tempered glass on the 6 Pro? pretty much the same size. You wouldn't want it to go past the curved edges anyway.

You would have a pretty sizable area around the screen protector that doesn’t come up to the case edge. Leaving room for dust to accumulate. Also the selfie camera cut out wouldn’t line up right.
I ordered this one: https://www.spigen.com/products/pixel-6-pro-screen-protector-neo-flex
I know Spigen makes great cases but never tried their screen protector. It's not tempered glass but it was (only) 11 euros on Amazon. In the worst case, if reviews are bad, I'll send it back.
Edit: read some reviews about the same ones for other phones, they don't seem great. I canceled my order for now. We'll see what becomes available next week.
I just bought some LK film screen protectors off of Amazon. I've had good luck with them in the past and the install method they use works great. I might go Whitestone or similar later on after I see some reviews. I had used Whitestone before in the past but from what I've been reading it seems the quality of the glass isn't what it used to be. IDK anybody used a Whitestone lately?

Before I sold my Pixel 2 XL I removed the Dome Glass and that was absolutely no problem.
The Glass came off very easy and the glue sticks to the Dome Glass not the Smartphone Screen.
I also had to replace the Dome Glass on my OnePlus (my fault) and there I didn't have any problems either - the glue sticks to the Dome Glass, the Display remains absolutely clean...
Can't really imagine on how to "kill" the display when removing the Dome Glass...of course, if you're usin a kniw or a screw-driver or any other inapproriate tool...
I'm going with the Ringke Dual Easy Wing. The film curves around and covers the edges and it has stayed pristine for the 1 year I've had it on my Note 20 ultra.

I didn't see the Ringke on their website.
A few things to answer earlier posts:
Whitestone is REALLY easy to remove, even after it shatters. Worst case you can scrape it all up with a business card. The adhesive is more like rubber cement than a hard glue.
Tempered glass protectors with a hole in them are straight up garbage. Avoid them
The Pro has an Optical sensor, any issues that Samsung users had with tempered protectors don't apply here. Optical sensors work GREAT with LOCA based UV tempered glass protectors. My Oneplus 9 Pro has an Optical sensor and I have the whitestone (and used Aliexpress $3 loca based protectors), they all work fine. The main difference is the quality of glue used, the cheaper ones pull up like crazy after a few weeks.
I ordered a Spigen 2 pack but I am no expecting much, might go Whitedome this time. Curved displays are a ball ache.
I brought this and it arrived a week ago. The glass is curved: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09FL6GTHJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I can take a picture of the glass if anyone wants. I however haven't tried it on the phone (since mine won't ship till early Nov), so I don't know how good it is. But the edges are curved.
I ordered 2x Magglass Tempered Glass Designed for Google Pixel 6 Pro Screen Protector (2021) UHD Full Coverage Display Guard (Case Compatible), so I'll give a review when I get the phone and put it on. It was either the sole tempered glass one I could find or one of only a couple. I've never used this brand although I've heard of them and seen them.
By the way, on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 512 GB (which I love the hardware but hate the software, having come from the Pixel 1), I bought the Note 10+ phones for my wife and I a year and a half ago, and it took a while to receive a screen protector. I dropped that phone at least 10 times before I also received an Otterbox Defender, since a lot of stuff was getting delayed. That phone is just so slippery without a case (I know, this is a screen protector thread).
I'm so glad the screen wasn't damaged before I got the protector on it. The phone came with something basic already on the screen that wasn't really a protector, but it might've helped keep it from damage until I got the rest of my accessories.
