Just ordered the Poetic Revolution Case in Black for the V20 - LG V20 Accessories

I have had the case and phone since Monday. The case isn't bulky compared to say Otterboxes, but does add a little heft to the phone. The only downsides for me are the screen protector isn't great, but I didn't expect it to be; and the case can be a pain removing and placing it back on at times.

can you throw up some pics...i was skeptical with the built-in screen option, i figured i could just purchase my own protector for that...

I have the Poetic Revolution & Affiinity; they've really thinned down the revolution from the versions I had for the Nexus6P and Note5. It's got a nice slim profile, but plenty of protection. Will post some pics tomorrow!

I like my Poetic Revolution in black! It's slim, grippy and very protective, now I'm not afraid to suddenly drop my new V20! Certainly gonna replace built-in plastic fingertips and rainbow magnet for Zizo edge-to-edge temp glass, that'll give even better survival skillz as well! Will post here once this killer combo is ready, apparently this coming Wednesday!

Here's the promised pix and a couple comments! Poetic case is priced at 12 bucks (amazon), Zizo at $10, kinda steal! IMO, this combo is a gorgeous match for V20 and a beast in terms of survival skillz! I had a couple of non edge-2-edge temp glasses, one plastic film (initially included with Poetic case) and two other cases (Nillkin wallet/book type and Tridea). Everything was a waste of time and money once you assemble Poetic/Zizo hybrid! Poetic is very grippy, has very solid feel, love protected ports and front panels in particular and superprotective whilst not being bulky i.e. very comparable to aforementioned Tridea! Zizo is a bit fingertips magnet and has slight plastic feel to it but edge-2-edge w/o rainbow effect, very stylish and clamping with Poetic as well as included cheap plastic protector! One last thing about that cheap plastic film, it's very easy to remove it even w/o breaking it just by prying very sharp knife or something like that BUT it's very difficult to wash all the adhesive out of hard plastic front part of the Poetic case. Use lots of water, rubbing ethanol and/or wet wipes that helps but still took me like an hour to completely remove that sticky stuff! :good:

I got it too. Nice case. I also have the Otterbox Defender which is the one I'm using right now. The Defender feels it would provide more shock and drop protection.

Poetic is always best to me.Gonna get one for my v20 soon. Had one for my N6,n6p,moto z and all work great,

I just used a blow dryer to soften it enough to pry it off little by little, the residue came off pretty easily also (less than 5 minutes for the whole process) I use the spigen temp glass and I'm loving it

I don't have a blow dryer at work there I did this Poetic "upgrade"! Lots of rubbing alcohol did it for me eventually I wonder how non edge-2-edge glass protector looks in combo with Poetic. I'm kinda getting tired of wiping Zizo plastic-ish tgsp all the time... please share some pix here!

Wow, looks very nice! Thanx for the photos! It seems there's no gaps on right and left side between the case and tgsp, neat! Once I scratch or break my Zizo I'll most definitely try Spigen :good:

cant get them in the uk amazon ... all you get is the Poetic Monkey

Just got it from the US amazon ... my phone is coming from hong kong .. so its worldwide phone anyway )

Got at amazon US , its an international phone .. so might as well follow the trend

I have one of the Zizo cases, and love it. The rough grippy sides and the kick stand are standouts for me. It's not bulky at all, and feels like it'll protect my phone. I also have a tempered glass screen on front.

Carbon Fiber full body protector

I used XOskins.com for my full body protection. They have a dry install carbon fiber that goes with the clear (obviously) screen protector. It's much less bulky than any plastic case, so I can still put it in my pocket comfortably. At the same time the entire phone is protected and looks killer too.
Link? Hopefully this stuff doesn't peel.
don't really think "Skin" and "Full body protection" should be in the same context. Full protection from scratches... yes. protection from anything more severe... not really. And if you really think that a skin is "Much less bulky" than any case... you've probably only ever had OtterBox on the brain. even a cheap TPU case would provide a bit more protection for your phone than a skin, and hardly adds any bulk at all.

Any pictures of the finished product? I thought about going that route, but instead got a carbon fiber back, a screen protector and a minimal bumper style case. The only bad thing about skins is that they only really protect against scratches.
I just ordered the one from Xgear. It covers the most area of any of the skins I've seen so far. I love the feel of the phone without a case so hopefully this will give me some protection while covering up the fugly pebble blue.

Then, you haven't looked a lot. Many places have front (with cutouts for the buttons, and screen, etc.), and a few even have side protection. all you are protecting is your battery cover from becoming scratched.

Actually, this is one of only 2 carbon fiber skins that protect the top and bottom edges of the phone and not just the back and sides. And it does a lot more than protecting the battery cover. It has full side protection. The only thing it doesn't cover is the front, which I don't need because I have a screen protector. I suggest you revisit the links.
Now its not like this will give me tpu protection but this should protect me from everyday scratches and absorb some of the impact if I ever do drop it. Not to mention looking good and not adding at bulk.

i WOULD like to see an installed one (not heir image, a real world install) the curves are pretty darn extreme on it, and i am betting it wont look as good as theirs... without adding a fair amount of heat.. but too much heat and you lose the CF pattern. that looks horrible! either you really suck at applying it or the cut is not good which causes it to bunch up in the corners. There are several other options out there for carbon vinyl layovers that are much better. (just going off of this picture, so if there are better applied phones please post)

Dan4877's picture is what i fear.
the design is closer to what I expect from most sellers, as those arcs are hard to apply.. for a normal person not familiar with CF wrapping. And anyone familiar with wrapping, will just buy some DiNOC vinyl from ebay, and do it for cheaper.

Plasti Dipped GS3

Here's the result of Plasti Dip on the back cover of my Verizon GSIII. I ordered a touchstone charger modded cover and decided to add some "grip" to it. This is 4 coats (starting with very light spray, 15mins between coats). Very happy with the results. Incidentally, the wireless charging still works through the coating - added benefit of sliding around less on the charging dock.
Very nice! I've heard others talk about doing this, but these are the best pictures I've seen of it actually finished. Well done.
Wow that looks amazing, great job.

Did you upgrade the magnets? The ones recommended in the threads are super strong
Thanks everyone! I've wanted to do this as soon as I got the GS3 and nearly dropped it because of the seemingly teflon-slick back cover!
UPDATE: The edges are peeling a little (didn't get as good of coverage as I'd thought). Going to peel and redo the 'dip with more attention to the edges.
"Did you upgrade the magnets? The ones recommended in the threads are super strong"
I didn't upgrade the magnets, but I'm thinking of doing so. My original use for the touchstone dock (with my Sprint Palm Pre!) was in the car and it held up really well. It doesn't seem to have as strong of a hold with the GS3.
Did you have to sand anything down or did you just spray on top of the glossy back cover?

I would assume so, considering plasti-dip is basically a spray paint that is more of a plastic than a paint.
If it does come out horrid after using plasti-dip, you can just peel it off.
It looks really great..good job. It reminded me of someone on the Nexus S thread doing something similiar, but i think your result looks better overall.
Here is the tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881062
Good idea but I think you will be disappointed in the PlastiDip performance.
I used to be an avid 1911 pistol grip maker and tried a lot of different materials and coatings to make interesting grips.
One of the things I tried was PlastiDip coating of grips. Ultimately, I scrapped the idea due to peeling edges. No matter how well you prepare or how thick (or thin) you apply the spray, the edges will always eventually lift up and peel. The product simply doesn't adhere well enough to stay on an item that will be handled repeatedly. The dip application version of the PlastiDip product is fairly durable by the sheer thickness of the application, but even it still peels at the edges.
Good luck, I hope you have better success than I did with my pistol grips.

I've redone the spray with more attention to the edges and a few more coats. Hope it holds up better than the first go. Will post after a week or so of use with impressions.

i agree, anything being handled constantly the plasti dip will peel at the edges. i know because i did this like 2 months ago, held up great for a week then it began.
Its most likely going to chip
I just did mine two days ago! I posted the pictures on the backplate thread. I haven't had peeling yet do to my bumper. Covers the edges to eliminate that issue.

Found my case finally - very minimalist

Let me state it 1st, I like my N5 naked. It really feels good in my hand, but the hard reality of the world is I will drop it, again. 1st time I was sitting on a chair and put the phone on my leg and I said to myself, take it off your leg because when you stand it it will fly off. And boys and girls what did I proceed to do? You guessed it, I stood up and the phone hit the concrete floor on the right corner and kind of popped open. I squeezed it shut and no harm. Anyway, after that I had been looking for a case and bought I think 3 others. They were all thin and 2 with the clear backs and 1 without, but they all added too much bulk and worst of all for me was the fact when I actually used the phone, something sharp would rub my ear and drive me crazy.
So, I had the following criteria; minimal, no top and bottom covering and had to raise the phone up slightly when I put it down on its face.
Well, the new release Ringke Slim going for around $7.99 is perfect for me. I covers the corners so if I dropped it I feel it would absorb the blow. It's raised just a little so when I lay it down it is off the surface. It has no top and bottom so does not hurt my ear and its cheap! I would of paid pretty much anything for a really good case, but I found it for cheap. I still have to put my glas screen protector on, like I say I really like it naked, and with that on it should be pretty safe.
I can't really see anything being thinner, except maybe just a bumper, but I have not seen one I like. I will be leaving the Slim on my phone.
It's a great case for those of us who like a more professional look with a minimalist form factor and the feel of the naked N5 back with an added grip factor. I'm with you
There is a similar case that's cheaper and believe it or not thinner, albeit minor. Bear Motion. I have 2 and while they are slightly thinner and have very smooth edges unlike the stock rearth slim, they are very slippery in the hand. Too slippery for me.
NX5
The spigen ultra fit and ringke slim are both good minimal cases. You can't go wrong with either.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the additional case suggestions, I'm going to investigate the Bear Motion. I could not imagine slimmer but the slippery factor may be an issue. The slim is not as nice, to me, as the naked back, but not bad in terms of grip.

Yeah when it is new you are correct. How long have you had it? Reason I ask is because after your finger/hand oils get on the case it then becomes very grippy like rubber. At least that has be my experience.
I'd also imagine it can be dependent on where you live and the weather. If it's cold and dry this case could have a little slip to it.
NX5
The Ringke Slim is a terrible case. It scratches the device, sharp corners all over it. Do not recommend it unless you want to scratch your phone.

Yes ultra fit is too tight that it scratches the phones corner
I'm not quite sure it would protect your phone from a drop. There was a post on here not to long ago with a cracked nexus 5. In the picture it was wearing the spigen ultra slim which is very similar to the ringke. The glass screen was cracked at the bottom where it took full force of the fall because there was no protection there.

It's the best case I've used so far. Highly recommended if you want a case that doesn't take away from the look and feel of the N5. I've taken the case off and on over a dozen times and I have no scratches at all on my phone corners. As for the sharp corners of the case, about 30 seconds with a nail file takes care of it

Sure it does. It depends on many factors. How high it drops from, how it lands, what it lands on, etc....
This is a minimalist case with form factor, scratch resistance, and looks as the priority. Not drop protection. If one wants strong drop protection then this case is NOT the one to buy. One should then purchase a thicker bulkier 2 or 3 piece "fat case" like an otter box or similar.

Not everyone has the scratch problem like you guys have had. I have a Ringke Slim and have never had it damage my phone, and I quite like the case. I also switch between different hardcases often and there are no scrapes in sight.
Also, it's unfortunate dice that you damaged your phone from your drop with a hardcase case on it. But don't criticize a person for recommending one because his good experience differed from yours.
It seems you've got some personal vendetta and drive to go into every hardcase thread and badmouth them.

Are you using a White or a Black Nexus? I have a feeling that the sides of my white one will end up getting damaged over time with this case, just because that's how glossy stuff is... Regardless, thanks for mentioning the case and it's nice to hear that the interior is matte. I just wish that there was a case similar to the 360 Spigen case that covers the top and bottom as well, and is matte on the inside.
But for now, i guess the Ringke will do.

I do have the black N5 and the black case, on the black phone you almost have to take a 2nd look to see it has a case. I do like the way on a white case the white would show on the top and bottom. You may be right but, the rubbing of just the day to day may be enough to wear it down. Well good luck in finding a case and let us know what you decide on.

I think I'll have to just settle for this one, as every time a company creates a minimal case such as this (like Incipio's feather line), they will always leave the top and bottom exposed.
I'm slightly concerned regarding the buttons being exposed, but I'm sure that since Google has a rev. 2 variant with better buttons, any issues I come across during the warranty period will be addressed.
I remember with my HTC EVO I had left that it in a Seidio Surface case which wrapped around all sides and it still got dents/scuffs/scratches just sitting in the case because of small bits of dirt or something would slip in. Oh well, such is life

Recommendations for a Slim, Soft-Touch TPU Case?

I'm a new Axon 7 owner and am currently searching for a case to use on this phone. The stock transparent case that comes with the phone is great but due to the fact it's a glossy plastic, it attracts a lot of grease from my fingers and feels dirty after a while. I also dislike it because the sweat from my hands will form into condensation on the back of the case. I also have a problem where the jack on my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50) is too large to fit in the hole provided.
I decided to purchase the Spigen 'Rugged Armor' case from Amazon after reading a lot of positive comments about it, but I have been left disappointed and debating whether to return it due to the sheer size and thickness that makes handling the phone (Which is already large enough!) incredibly difficult with small hands. The case does not add much friction despite the material used having a rubber-like appearance, and I actually feel more likely to drop the phone as a result of trying to fumble with the added size. As well as this, the cut-out for the headphone jack is still too small even though it's larger than the wider than the one seen on the stock case. I also find it a lot more difficult to access the fingerprint scanner due to the thickness of the case surrounding it. Another problem is that the case is quite difficult to put onto the phone and a lot harder to remove, to the point where it feels like i'm actually going to damage the phone by attempting to do this!
For my previous phone, a Lenovo ZUK Z2, I had a fantastic Nillkin 'Frosted Shield' shell case that was made from a soft-touch rubber-like plastic. It was very slim at about 2mm in thickness at most, and although it didn't offer much in the way of drop-protection, it did have a nice textured back and that increased the grip tremendously. So, despite the case not being able to protect the phone quite as much from being dropped, it didn't matter because the chances of dropping the phone in the first place were a lot less likely. I wondered whether there was something similar for the Axon 7, but instead in a TPU-style with the sealed corners, and the same thickness as the stock case that's included with the phone? Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

That looks nice, it's kinda like the old Sandstone Black finish on the OnePlus One. There was one similar to this on Amazon UK but I don't think it had the same texture to it. My only compliant with that one is that it isn't a TPU case which completely covers the corners, but on the other hand the sand texture probably adds a lot of grip to reduce the risk of it being dropped.
I'm currently looking into getting the J&D case from their official website. It's in TPU-form which covers the entire phone (Except from the power/volume buttons!) and has the textured soft-touch back I wanted. The only problem with this one is that the glossy plastic edges look a bit tacky in the pictures, but hopefully it's not as bad in person as it looks on the website. I have a discount code which knocks a subtle 15% off the price listed, so it might be worth a shot.
Looking into this now myself. The stock clear case will go yellow as they all do. Getting cheap see through black case as a temporary till I find a good one. I find the clear one a tad loose at the side.

This one is the best one, hands down: https://www.amazon.de/ARTILVST-umgebene-Struktur-Oberfl%C3%A4che-Protector/dp/B01MTLLSPA/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505381744&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=axon+7+slim+case+sand
It is ultra slim and has a very nice feel.

Yes.
In my opinion it's the perfect one.
My buddies ordered it for their Samsung cause of the nice touch.
Color is anthracite, not fancy but decent

Thanks. I'm mostly interested in the grip. I had a similar case from Amazon. fr but it was in fact quite slippery (it had a satin feel to it). Had to send it back.
The stock case that came with the Axon 7 is quite grippy but it is slowly going yellow.

Hey, have you received the case yet? Just wondering what you thought to it. If either you or @Sui77 could post a picture of it, that would be great as well. I'm still debating whether to choose this or the J&D TPU case that completely conceals the corners. I can't stand using the case which came with the phone much longer, as it's made from glossy plastic and attracts a lot of filth and grease. I imagine the ARTILVST case would be a lot better in this regard.

Yes I did. Or is ok, but not as grippy as I was hoping for. The original case provides more grip.
Some pics attached.

Thanks for posting those pictures! That's a shame to hear the grip wasn't as good as expected. I wanted something which provided more grip than the stock case, so maybe this isn't the right one for me. I also live in the United Kingdom and having the case shipped from Germany would make it more expensive in postage costs. It does look like a nice case but I am worried it might not offer much protection if the phone is dropped. I think the J&D case would perhaps be better because it has a soft-touch back and conceals all the corners properly.
I have that same Spigen case as above, an Incipio TPU case in smoked brown, and another thin "shell case". This thin shell offers zero protection in case it is dropped, making using one pointless , IMO.
The Incipio case is OK, but again thin and will show wear very quickly. The Spigen one is my favorite hands down, doesn't add bulk to the phone all ports easily accessable, and the edges offer good grip.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions regarding the cases available for the Axon 7. It's interesting to hear how you found the Spigen case not to be bulky, because I found the opposite and returned it for that exact reason. I eventually purchased one of the cheap, plastic shell cases from AliExpress similar to the that in the pictures Joaste posted above.
My overall opinion on this case has been positive but it has worn on the edges and there are cracks down all four corners. As you mentioned, a shell case does not offer much drop protection but it's definitely better than not having a case at all and it does improve the grip quite notably. However, I wish it had a textured or 'Sandstone' back to help avoid grease buildup.
I am now looking for another case, but options in the UK are limited since the Axon 7 is not officially sold here.
I've been using my TPU smoke black case with a glass screen protector for a while and enjoyed that. I got fed up with the Poetic Revolution case because of the dry protector built into the front. It allowed dust and stuff in between the screen and protector. Tonight I stripped out the dry protector and put the case on with the glass protector still on the screen. Fits nice. I have a full coverage protector to fit and might see if it will work with the Poetic. Might need to trim the inner edges of the corners near the speaker grilles.
I've been using this Proworx case since right after I got my Axon 7, so for a bit over a year now. I wasn't super impressed when I got it so I figured I'd replace it as soon as I found something better or it wore out, but I'm still using it, which says something about it.
It isn't the slimmest, for sure, but it isn't as bulky as the Otter Boxes and whatnot that everyone with a non-cracked iphone seems to have. It protects very well - TPU around the edges, fully covering the corners (which is a must, in my eyes), polycarbonate back, enough of a lip on top to protect the screen if you set it down face-down, and the cut-outs and buttons are perfect. Good drop protection - I've "thrown" it onto asphalt, tile, and concrete without the phone getting a scratch. Also works well with the glass screen protectors we covered in another thread. Easy enough to put on and take off too, with no chance of the phone just falling out.
Again, not the thinnest, but not huge, and the protection is excellent. Plus they're cheap and come in multiple colors. And as is typical with cheap stuff manufactured in China, I've seen this same case under at least a couple of other brand names, CoverOn for one. For $5-$6 I recommend trying it - I like it enough that I pretty much never think about replacing it, even though it (a clear one) has yellowed a tad. After trying like 10 cases for my G3 and finding faults with each of them, I can say I like this one enough that I'll probably replace it with the same one, eventually.

I decided to order one of these in black to try out. Have been quite happy with my Spigen, but after installing this Proworx case yesterday, I think I am falling in love. Seems to offer enough protection, fits & looks nice, AND I kind of like how the buttons are a bit harder to push in, which actually prevents me from squeezing open the screen every time I try to pick it up. :good:

Quoting myself here.
Today I fitted the full coverage protector to my Axon 7 and it fits into the Poetic Revolution case nicely! Glad I stripped out the dry protectors in the Poetic cases. I've also now fitted a plastic protector over the glass one as a quick and easy tear off to sacrifice for wear and tear but the glass one makes the front of the phone flat. Even with two stacked protectors, touch works perfectly.
The picture is slightly misleading as the black section also covers the capacitive buttons so there's no indicator of position, but not being backlit anyway, it makes little difference.
Here's a quicky bunch of pics. I have a soft TPU smoky case, black Poetic Revolution and a blue/grey Poetic Revolution which can be mix and matched. Got a couple of little bubbles under the plastic protector and will fix that later, or just remove it. Looks good with just the full coverage glass one.
If anyone is looking for a slim case I just picked up a Bear Motion Sand from eBay. Best case I've had so far for my A7 and I've tried quite a few. Feels like my OPO did.

Been using this one for over 6 months now with out any issues , not as bulky as it looks and the stand is useful . I also have a full body clear skin from clear-coat that fits superbly, clear-coat has various outlets through the UK and installs as you wait , is a bit pricey at £30 for the full skin .
I work in the building trade so need it well protected .

Accessories OnePlus 9 Pro + Whitestone Dome + case compatibility

Just wanted a thread for information.
So...
Original case: Fits, works great, but it's a lame case. Very slippery, little protection.
Spigen Ultra Hybrid: OK. Works great with the Dome, it's not touching and installs easily. I like how it feels, good case.
Otterbox Symmetry: Works but very, very tight fit. Even normally, it's such a tight fit you are almost breaking the phone. It's a pretty weird design honestly. The front "lip" has a rubbery finish that I do not like either.
Post your experiences and I'll update the OP post!
Thank you.
I'm using the sandstone case with the dome
I like nudes and daily drive it naked, touching it with my bare fingers... I mean the phone!

That's why I believe the next best thing is like the Dome & OnePlus sandstone case. The case is minimal with an awesome grip & the dome has the feel and appearance of the original screen

I too like my phone naked without anything on it but the phone gets so many scratches and dents on the edges so I decided to install a full-body screen protector from Gadgetshieldz. The protector is very thin which I like about it and I can barely feel it on my phone. Try this instead of a case to feel the phone as it is.

I was using Whitestone dome with gray sandstone case as well. Til the Whitestone started getting dust under the edges and it cracked. I bought the 2 pack with light but they didn't give extra speaker/port stickers to apply the 2nd protector. Between spigen and rinke cases in rotation currently.

But sometimes that thin protection can tear apart and which can be very dangerous in certain climax scenarios when you are in a hurry. Moreover, some people prefer the case as it provides more grip and some even have textures and colours on them to give more pleasure to the user.

It is risky if you go with cheap brands, this one I'm using for 3 months now and there is no peeling or tear of the protector. I hate the tempered glass because it eventually breaks in a month or two so I'm going with this.
