Euro Rom - missing LTE band 3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello guys
i got the OP3 A3000. i got mine from the official website and its the American version.
ilive in Israel, and there for my device wont have a LTE band #3 like the European versions come with.
my question is, if ill install a Euro rom..would it include the missing LTE band?
* is the anyway other way to pass this issue or installing the missing band ?
thanks in advance.
Eli

Nope. The bands are defined outside of the rom, I'd assume in the modem configuration.

is there anyway that i can install or activate that band on my phone ?

Unless you have the encryption keys to program the baseband...
There's a thread here where people have been trying to change bands without success.

My friend you should check if the phone has the band you need before you buy the phone.
A3000 model it's also for China region.

tl;dr - bands can't be changed

LTE Bands

I'm interested in getting an M9, but concerned about LTE bands.
Basically, I travel back and forth between North America where I need Band 4, and Asia, where I need Band 1.
Sadly, I can't seem to find any model which has both Bands 1 and 4.
I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not such a model exists, and if not, if anyone has tried adding LTE bands to the M9 yet, and whether or not they were successful.
Thanks!

HTC M8 Dual SIM is it Possible to Change the Band to make 4G work in Switzerland?

How to know which LTE band?
Hi!
I know that this has been talked before, but I could not find anything that works.
I have bought a HTC M8 dual sim in switzerland. Back in Argentina, I tried to make 4G work, and, of course, it doesn't.
I have read that there is some chance to change the band, by the qualcomm.
so.. how do I know which band(S) does my phone have?
Thanks in advance!
I use "LTE Discovery" App. Available on the Play Store.

According to this webpage, it supports LTE bands 3, 7, 8 and 20. And according to list of LTE bands by country on Wiki, Argentina uses LTE band 4. So it makes sense that you don't have LTE.
While radios are typically interchangeable among "regular" GSM M8 versions (s-off required to flash radios); this is not true for the Dual SIM. So while you are correct that band support is software based on the Snapdragon 801, the normal method to change bands is to flash another carrier version's radio. I don't think you have another version's radio to flash. Some folks have modified the the NV values on the CDMA M8 to change band support. But to my knowledge, nobody has gotten this to work on non-CDMA versions of the M8 (the changes just revert themselves after reboot).
I suspect you are out of luck. This is really something you should have researched before buying the phone.

I kind of did. This is an fantastic mobile, besides the LTE detail; and by buying it in europe I've spent less than half of its price in Arg. pitifully.. I need the dual SIM. So, still a win win.
I will try to modify the NV values with QXDM... maybe i still have some luck left.
thanks =D

What are the US and CN differences?

I have got the US version but as we all know the software sucks and my device actually has an pixel error so I will need to send it back anyway (efox).
What if I request a CN replacement device? What are the differences? I read that you can only choose between english and chinese language but that wouldn't be a problem.
Would I be happy with the software too?
For one, the frequency bands are different. The US version was made to work with North American networks. So depending on where you live, the Chinese version might not work with your country's carriers.
I'm referring specifically to the 4G Lte bands. If you bought the Chinese version to use in North America, you'd likely only get 3G coverage. And with many carriers soon to be going exclusively 4G, your phone will soon be useless.

Thanks for your helpful reply but 4G only? Never heard of that. Sounds scary.
Does anyone actually try to put MM 16s to our US version? I know that LP cause hard brick but what will happen with official 16s rom?
Is there any differences with bootloader or something else on hardware bases?
I can't try this because my le one pro is my main phone.

Add LTE Band 3 to OP3?

Hi guys, so after a bit of research I found that you can add/enable bands on the OP1 as shown here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unlock-aditional-bands-qualcomm-t2877031
and Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56577252&postcount=455
My question is can I add LTE band 3 to my OP3 A3000?
Mine currently supports:
North America model(A3000)
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/12/17/30
The other models support:
Europe / Asia model
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20
TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40
China model
FDD-LTE : Bands 1/3/7
TDD-LTE: Bands 38/39/40/41
If anyone has done this or attempted to do this please let me know
Looking for the same information.
Also been searching for this. Found another thread which says hopefully in the next month or two it will be looked into.

Could this even be possible? Aren't bands hardware dependant?

Its possible to add bands in Qualcomm devices .. i added h+ band in my Xiaomi mi note 1year ago. (Snapdragon 801) ... Somewhere in xda exist a tutorial to add bands in xiaomi mi note pro. Try the steps in oneplus ... But make sure you nandroid backup and EFS backup.

This is what I'd assume as well, but it looks like some have been successful in the past with Oneplus devices. Especially since Oneplus' response to the band omissions seemed a bit vague IMO.
Any updates?
I have a A3000 US model (Does not support LTE band 3)
AND NOW
I have just got a A3000 HK model (For my dad) (support's LTE band 3)
and the "about phone" part is identical apart from the baseband version.
Is there any way to tell them apart. And does this mean I can somehow unlock LTE band 3 on my US version of the OP3?
If there was someway to backup the basband and restore it on on my US OP3 that would also be great!

The HK model is A3003 so you actually have a China model.

AFAIK there isn't yet a way, but I would suggest to follow the most active thread on the subject:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/unlocking-lte-bands-t3425871/page6
Hopefully something will come up..
Can this work on all carriers? Whether in North America or over seeas?
I've got OP3T A3000, tried multiple files and instructions to unlock LTE band 3 on it, no luck so far. Downgraded to Nougat, Oreo, different zip files, qcn files, hex editing stuff, most of these process went error free with still no band 3.

Vodafone LTE/4G 2100Mhz not working on nexus 5x. Any Solution?

In Maharashtra, India, vodafone uses 2100Mhz band for LTE/4G. As per Nexus 5x specs it should be able to work. But, it doesn't. Device is not able to find vodafone 4G network at all. I have already created a issue on issuetracker. But google is slow to fix it. If any Developer has any idea how to make it work please let us know. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/68286086

There are two versions. H791 (international) and H790 (USA). They have different bands (there is some overlap). That may be the problem.

What do you mean by overlap?
I have checked specs of USA version and International version, both of them support 2100Mhz i.e B1 band. ?
