Call recorder doesn't work with headphones plugged in
Unfortunately, I haven't found a call recorder that actually works when you switch the recording source to "voice call" on Moto Z2 play. I can record no problem using the "mic" option but that doesn't help if you're using a Bluetooth headset or regular plug-in headphones. Additionally, recordings don't sound nearly as clear coming from the person on the other end of the phone since it's just the phone's built in microphone picking up the sound coming through the earpiece on your phone. Does anyone know if any call recording apps actually work with the "Voice call" recording source (with headphones plugged in)?

Is there an application records via kernel? No microphone bs.

Hello
I've been using Callbox (I can't post the link as I'm new to the forum but you'll find it on play - automatic call recorder CallBox) for a few months now and it really works. I've tried some others before and never got the seeked result (often problems with recording while on bluetooth or poor quality).
Callbox works great on Moto Z Play (I'm on RETEU 7.0, not rooted, original ROM). Nice quality on both sides and no problem recording when I'm on bluetooth connection in my car. I use my Z Play for my pro calls and use it a lot.
Good integration also with Google drive.
Have a nice day

I use "call recorder" (paid) https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643&page=1 and it seems to work well. It's not on the play store currently for some reason but when I started using it - it was.

[Q] Apps to record from Bluetooth headset?

Has anyone been able to find a WORKING app which records audio from a Bluetooth headset on the Galaxy Nexus?
The ones I've tired force close or can't find the audio source...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
when someone calls your google voice phone number. you can pickup the phone call and press 4 to record the call; this works even if you're speaking on a bluetooth headset.
I don't use Google voice, but rather was looking for something to record memos instead of phone calls.

I've tried the ones which explicitly say they record Bluetooth audio, but none of them work. Regular recording apps will always pick the mic off the phone, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Thats not actually true from my experiences. By connecting a bluetooth headset it should 'hijack' the speaker and microphone and use your bluetooth one by default.

With the app you posted, using a galaxy Nexus?
I'll give it a try.
EDIT: that didn't work at all. It records only from the built in mic.

this is true of the sg2 on various roms i think its pretty damning that a smart phone cant record phone calls really makes android look like a pile o rubbish. i have tried alot to get call recording on a bluetooth headset and nothing works. once after loading about 20 apps on an old ics rr rom it started working litrally by magic so i know it is possible to work but no one seems to care or managed to do it which is deffinetly very pathetic quite fankly. concidering i can watch two channels of live tv while down loading a film using my phone as router over 3g etc all at the same time its amazing but i cant record a phone call ffs.
Its now 2015, has anyone had any luck with this or found and app in the store that actually works. Cheers

I found one!!
There's an app called Boldbeast call recorder that has worked with Bluetooth on my Note 4: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder&hl=en
The good is that it works (on the note 4), the bad is that this app is $11 (free version without auto-record is available), but it works and it saves me from having to waste more time looking for a solution. :good:
I DO NOT KNOW if this works on the Galaxy Nexus, for whoever still owns that phone.

I can confirm that Boldbeast works on my Galaxy S4 (i9500) as well. I had to do a little bit of tweaking (give the app root access, change SELinux to permissive(there's an app on XDA for that)), but I was able to get it to record both ways with a bluetooth headset (Plantronics voyager edge) when I put the Record Mode to "Alsa Mode (Root)" However the volume is a little low, and when I tried to give it a 20% boost in volume in the app settings, the recorded conversation was really really distorted. Turned it back to 0% volume increase, and it's at least not distorting the sound.
I am using a custom ROM (n4/s6 by @alemtro) and kernel (can't remember but as it turns out it's not permissive), and of course it's rooted.
ACR has a far better UI, and does auto call in the free version, but they don't want to play around with SELinux etc because that is against the Play Store terms. So if you don't need BT recording, that's a better app, but like me if you really need BT recording, Boldbeast seems to be the only option (and a good one).

[Q] Call recorder?

Looking for working call recorder for Z1c rooted, stock fw.
I need this,
Try this trial version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
Maybe I think, find the solution:
1 unzip the SemcPhone.apk from RomAur (auras67).
2.copy in system/app (set permission after reboot)
3 then work any call recorder app
4 enjoy!
No root is necessary.
I have used Androrec since HTC days, and worked well on my Z Ultra, as well as my Z1C
Easy to use, always records. I am using the pro version, which gives you more flexibility and options, but free does the job well.
Mode 2 should record well, that is what I use on my Z1C at the moment
I have tried Androrec on the Z1c today, and it creates distortion during the call. Also when listening back to the conversation, all the time the phone is ringing is just empty, so you start wondering if it actually worked at all.
Any pointers about getting it to work better?
Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk
Mode 2 seems to have done the trick. No more call interference and the recording is perfect.
Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk
I used this since my HTC (Workaround needed) and Xperia is compatible.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grinzone.incallrecorder&hl=en
perfect job, 2 way call recording! both! free and pro version without changing settings, out of the box on my UNROOTED Z1C!

as usual skvalex recorder delivers...just st to lg nexes 5 as model in recording..

[Q] Audio Recording bug?

Hey guys, I've got a small problem with recording audio on my phone, the Samsung galaxy Note 3 Neo SM 750. Every 5 seconds or so, there's a small break in the audio being recorded. This happens when using the default Voice recording app, as well as any 3rd party app, like when recording a voice note in Whatsapp for example, or when taking a video in the camera app. As a result, now even when i record videos, the audio and the video are horribly out of sync.
Is this a mic problem? I'm using Stock touchwiz and i recently got an update to 4.4 kitkat. This problem seems to have arisen after that.
I would be most grateful for suggestions.
Thanks,
I have the same. After hard reset the problem fixes for some time, but the next day it returns. Impossible to use audio and video recording. I would appreciate any ideas to solve this.
Hello, I think I found the reason. Try to disable voice calling OK Google from any application. This seems to help.

This is the solution, I have been facing this issue for a couple of months and I was about to flash a new rom haha.
yeah bro its working thanku for such a great solution

Mic not working except in the camera app

Today people I called couldn't hear me while I could hear them fine. I thought maybe the mic had gone kaput but when I tried the voice recorder app I could hear myself albeit at very very low volume. Then I tried taking a video and the audio was perfectly fine. No recent software updates to the phone apart from updating HTC Backup , HTC Weather , Google Play Music and Google via the Play Store. Obviously the mic is fine (to some degree anyway) so how can I force Android to always use it the way the camera app does? I'm stock at the moment.

I have used Call Recorder(link is below) on LG G4 and it works good, records both sides and starts to record automatically when call comes. Yesterday I got my Nexus 5X, but have not tried the app yet.

is the 5x rooted? I am trying to avoid that
Yes, my 5X rooted.
Problem solved.
In my case(MDB08I, rooted), boldbeast's call recorder app is working now.
set the option as following:
- Record Mode: Alsa
- Tune Audio Effect: Yes
- Tune Audio Route: Group3
- Change Audio Controls: Yes
- Change Audio Driver: No
- Start Input Stream: test Yes and No
I tested many times and the recorded voice quality is pretty good.
Hi,
I am in the market for the new Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P. I have the old Nexus 5 and it is not rooted.
I also had trouble finding a recording solution. The one way i found that I could record my calls, was to use a wired headset. It is annoying, but it works great. Speaker phone is not really an option, but that too records properly.
I have tried a couple of recording apps and all had the same results.
Has anyone tried these 2 methods on the 5X or 6P?
I would really like to know if this works, before buying, since I have to import it to where I live.
I am using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.co.datatex.irecall and with my Wired headset and it works with this. Would really like to know if it works on a 5X or 6P.
Call Recorder by skvalex. Best there is.
I used call recorder on my Nexus 6 (not 6P, the older 6) and it worked amazing!
Hated the size of my Nexus 6, so I switched to a Nexus 5X. Call Recorder by skvalex DOES NOT work on the 5X. The audio is sooooo distorted it's ridiculous. Remember ANY commercial poking fun at a VERY BAD drive thru speaker and that's what it sounds like.
I am rooted. Makes no difference no matter what settings I choose. Currently trying Boldbeast recorder. At first it was crap too. But tried the settings recommended by Chaoxifier above and things started getting better.
Currently using the following and it's not perfect, but DEFINITELY MUCH BETTER. Root and then go into "Fix Recording Issues" and in there scroll to the bottom and choose "Enable Rooted Options"
- Record Mode: Alsa Mode (Root)
- Tune Audio Effect: Yes
- Tune Audio Route: Group1
- Change Audio Controls: Yes
- Change Audio Driver: No
- Start Input Stream: Yes
I also changed ASLA Channels to "2"
BTW - It should be mentioned that on skvalex's main website (for call recorder) he pretty much says on the Nexus 5X your SOL because it's how the hardware manufactures implemented the device audio. Frankly after reading much of his FAQ he comes off as a bit of a ****.

Yes. I tried just about every combination possible, very literally for 6 hours (wife was pissed at "wasted time") between three different apps. Up+down link still was a garbled audio mess on the 5x.
From my past experience I found the call recording only works well on cm based ROMs.
Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder
It is more or less works good.

Nope - as I stated before, I tried this exact one (Call Recorder). It's crap on the 5x. It was AWESOME on my original Nexus 6 (Google Fi), but on the 5x it's complete crap.
Did you try last version CallRecorder.
I know another application: http://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1122-call-recorder-for-nexus-5x.html
CallRecorder and Boldbeast only can record call. Quality is not very good. But I don't know another way to record calls on 5x
Looking for a recording which I can enable in when during a call as I don't need each call recorded. My Galaxy which I had before switching to N5X I had wanam which added a menu button during a call
