Flash Notification App - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hey all, looking to get input for a working flash notification app. For when you get a text, call, app notification, etc... Perviously used a few on the Note 7 but can't seem to find one down that fully functions.
Thanks in advance!

Flashing notifications has always been a big deal to me. I've been let down in the past with some devices limitation on different lights and what not. I purchased an app a couple years ago that works great if your device can handle it. I've tested it on the pixel and it works excellent. It's called lightflow.. and here's the play store link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en
You do need root, and in setting - notifications - click on the gear - turn on pulse notification light (which is off by default!?!?!?!). You also need to give it rights in the accessibility menu.
Should work fine for you as it's working GREAT for me.
Good luck!

here's a free version.. not sure how limited it is.. might be good for testing purposes (but I can already tell you this is working fine).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite&hl=en
also, I read on this app it doesn't REQUIRE root which I thought was required when I first purchased the app. Things might have changed. I did root my pixel and this app is working fine. If it doesn't work, it might be root related if you don't have root.

Wow, great...just installed Light Flow. Was unaware of all the features associate with that app. I will be sure to give it a go here tonight and try and figure out all these settings! Thank you very much for the input!
Much appreciated!

[Q] Need guidance on improving gps fix

I am a passioned Ingress player and used to use nexus S or Nexus 7. I have been given a Galaxy Nexus which feels great, but the gps lock here in my region is plain horrible on stock 4.2.2. Most of the time my position is like 30-40 meters off and it doesnt change while I'm locked (if I'm locked). Which options are available for me, to get better results?
Kind regards
(I have no problem on rooting the device to get better results)
Check out the play store for an app called faster gps. It will help you customize your gps for your region. I believe it is a root app, so you'll need to root to use. Best of luck!

might that app be called "FasterFix"? I tried that app and it wouldn't do anything when I hit the "Go" button with Cyanogenmod 10.1.
Yes, faster fix is the name. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix. not sure why it didn't work for you. I've used it several times on cm10.1 and it has worked fine. Do you have cm root turned on?

so I tried it again and even rebooted after installing. I also verified that the app was listed in Superuser and it was but still nothing when I hit the Go button.
so, I tried FasterGPS, which is listed as an alternate, open source app on the FasterFix app screen in Play and that worked great!

App ideas?

Hey guys, I'm planning to develop an app for Android and I'd need suggestions. I know that the Android app market is pretty saturated right now and there's an app for everything, but if you guys have an idea for an app please feel free to tell me. Be it an app that covers a need that other apps can't cover, or something that's already on the store but they are missing some feature, etc.
Or maybe an app you would personally need and can't find the suitable app on the store to cover you need.
Feel free to give any idea. But keep in mind I'm a beginner And sorry for my English.
I could do with an app that cooks my dinner for me ! ! !
Only joking. What category are you talking about. Do you mean some kind of Android tool?

Lol! No... I mean an app for the store. I'm just out of ideas and I wanna develop
Remember the old Nokia brick phones back in the day. Like the 6210s etc. They used to have "Profiles" where you could name your settings as to ring tone volume or silent an all that. Well by extension you could say set the silent profile on until a certain time. So what I would do (because I never switch off my phone) when I went to bed is put it on silent and set the time so the silent profile would end at Xoclock in the morning returning back to the original profile. Therefore if anyone text or called it wouldn't disturb me in the night. But then once I was up and after the time I set the profile to that was fine. I think that option died out with those phones I used to use daily. I have not seen it on any smartphone I have owned since.

Unable to install Google Phone

I was able to replace the rest of the Moto core apps (Camera, Contacts, Messages) with the stock Google versions but when I try to install Phone it says it is not compatible with my phone. I have the T-Mobile variant.

You have to find the version on APK mirror that is labeled "no Nexus" it's the only one I've found that works. Also it seems there is a bug with the T-Mobile variant that you won't get notifications for texts with Android messages. If you do let me know how you got it to work. I have tried everything to get Android messages working without success.

Ah thanks. Looks like that version is almost a year old. That sucks. As far as Android messages I never experienced that issue. I just had someone who is on t-mobile send me a txt and it came through. I am on wifi calling if that makes a difference.

Pretty much. Downloaded it from the play store and disabled the moto messages app. The first time I launched it prompted me to set it as default and haven't had any issues.

I give up, no matter what I do I can't get it to work
I wonder if it is a problem with Android messages or the Moto. I use textra and I have no problems.
As far as the phone app goes, I installed one off the xda labs store and it looks just like the stock Android version.
Nevermind, that is a year old as well.... Sucks
We won't get a working Google dialer as you need Twrp to flash the dialer framework
I've had no problem with android messages as well. Downloaded straight from the play store installed, disabled the moto messages app, set android as default and worked out of the gate.
To anyone that needs Google dialer I've been using this thread and everything seems to work fine and most current version is up usually a few days after update. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412

Auto Speaker

I have used two apps Auto Speaker and SpeakerPhone on my previous phones basically uses proximity sensor to switch between earpiece and speaker which is super convenient for me. That said neither work on op5t and its stupid dialer. Any suggestions options?

No need to be rooted.
Just look in Apps, you just need to install.APK and give permissions.
Google dialer does not have this option. I love proximity speaker as well. Hopefully we start getting more roms, like purefusion that integrate this feature into the dialer

I never know what to look for often there are multiple variations with multiple threads etc...like the google cam, no idea which one is new which one isn't is is gcam or google camera all in one etc, i have it installed now, one of the versions works nice other than the apps for automatic speakerphone still don't work.
If somebody could explain to me how to find the latest apps and all the apps available other than scour through hundreds of pages I would appreciate it.

XDA and OnePlus community has something new everyday, so is just you have to read read read, download and try installing. Next day you will find updated version of App, update. If you don't like latest update, revert back to old version.
All about community is to try beta versions and help developers by feedback and having fun modifying your device with your choice.

What will I be missing/suffering if I have L00 not the international L29 model?

It's a few hundred cheaper for the China model where I am and very few chances to get the L29 anyway. So what all would I be lacking? Or maybe gaining??? Or is it mostly just set up issues?
Any problems with L29? The most serious?
And the most serious for L00?
Alot of the issues can be fixed with different tweaks.
From what I know this is what still isn't working 100%.
- "ok Google" doesn't work unless you open the app
- Most accounts don't work with Google pay. I think it all depends on your bank.
- Cannot turn on Google location services.

I have both, no real big differences and both work fine. The default keyboard is different, in L00 its Huawei's Keyboard which is fine, and in L29 its Swift. The L00 has in-call recoder which is missing in L29. I can't comment on Goolge Pay since I don't use it. Updates are faster on L00. Also, L00 has more bloatware which can be uninstalled easily. You can't go wrong with either.
