Camera hass Gorilla Glass 3
Better use a case or something like

AR coating on glass is very weak. So the glass does not scratch but the coating on it does super easy.

Scratches on camera lens front glass?

As the camera lens front glass seems to rest on the surface when you lay your note on a flat surface i bought a ringke slim case to protect it. Really disliked the case, slippery and made it bulkier.. and bought a samsung original flipcase instead, i like it a lot but my concern is if anyone have had problems with scratched camera lens front glass as the flipcase back is similar to the original backplate?
Nop buddy. Your camera is safe..

If you see the camera lens, its engraved insyd the cover, so a surface wont scratch it. Make sure no sharp object touches the lens, thats all.
I've been using Samsung flipcase for quite some time now.

Thanks, yes you're right..my concern was probably based on that i've seen so many posts about owners of note II mentioning camera protection when they buy a case for it..
B.T.W love the flip cover when taking photos, half open it helps getting stable shots with a lot less shake, I get a better grip around the phone and half open the flip doesn't block the camera lens at all..
I replaced my GS2 casing because of a scratch on the lens. I thought that I scored a good deal on it, but I noticed that it got lots of fine scratches very easily, resulting in a loss of sharpness.
Lesson learnt for me to only use original parts if it ever happens to my GN2.
I have a flip case, but it doesn't offer any shock protection. I'd love a flipcase that does.

Is the rear camera lens scratch proof?

At the moment, am not using any cases, and most cases are thin and don't seem to cover the bump. Should I worried about the lens when I keep it in a flat surface? I don't keep it in a rough surface tho.
https://www.gadgetshieldz.in/oneplus-3-screen-protectors-covers-cases.html - They sell full body screen protector, is it necessary to cover the lens too with scratch guard?
The glass on the camera won't easily scratch, so nothing to worry about if you keep it on a table or other flat surfaces.

Well that video just made me cringe. Had to give my OP3 a hug afterwards.

cringed so hard. but i feel good about the crazy level of durability the OP3 has.
GEEZUS he's a maniac lol, awesome build quality tho
Running Android since 1.5..... Boosted OP3
Camera lenses are usually made from sapphire which is nearly on a par with diamond for hardness.
I don't know if the OP3's lens is, but you can gather from the video that the glass on the lens is made of a harder material than the display as he was able to scratch the display but the lens was unaffected.
I always get a camera skin from dbrand just to keep mine safe. Even if I don't skin the rest of my phone, they're cheap and stay put.

That's some serious ceramic! Thanks for the headsup.
My OP3 has a very tiny scratch on the camera. It doesn't show up on the photos so its no biggie. I've cut the screen protector from my nexus 4 to protect the camera until I can get a good case LOL.
My lens cracked the other day as I set it down (not carefully) on a concrete floor. Any place I can get this fixed or parts I can order to replace it?

Mine shipped with a scratch in the AR coating on it! It may be good glass (I dunno) but it looks like the AR coating is very weak. Small recessed glass's don't have to worry about having a durable AR coatings but the huge one on the Z's looks like it going to be an issue for all of them.
Sent it back and already got another one. Spent a few min last night trying to cut down an old screen protector to fit but due to the flash being in the same circle - it causes major blow out when it lights so it needs to be much smaller and the edge needs to be blacked out.

You can protect the camera lens with some "cool" skins, like:
https://dbrand.com/shop/moto-z-skins
or
https://www.slickwraps.com/devices/phones/android/moto-z.html
mine has some lines too, I will get some pulish and after that a skin will help for good
hope it helps
Same here with Moto Z but this is a problem with all Moto devices all moto phones of this year scratch incredibly easy, ALL PHONES, from G4 Play up to Moto Z Force, I don't want to imagine how they will look the lens cameras in a couple of months later... terrible Motorola/Lenovo...
So far the only scratch I have is a small scratch on the top aluminum edge. No scratches on any of the glass. My dbrand skin should be coming some time this week. Black carbon back and white carbon camera.
can the camera glass be replaced?
Mine has some scratches and now that I saw that I'm not alone I knoe that is not my fault. It doesn't hurt the Picture quality but is really annoying
I set my Moto z play on the table and glass cracked can I get it replaced?

Razer camera lens : I'm worried of scratches!!! Any tips

Last year jerry rig post a durability test of the razer phone... It leave permanent marks on the body .... And camera even with razor blade with level 5... Lots of cameras like pixel , oneplus and iphone doesnt has this problem.. Anyone has found a glass lens protector for razer?. I m using a rugged spigen cover that protect a little the lens but i want to be sure
any suggestion or link
i live in italy
Put anything over it and it will affect picture quality I bet. I have the same Spigen. Don't worry about it, just don't be stupid with it..
Have you noticed scratch even with spigen cover?
What should i do to avoid camera scratches? In terms of protections
I have a dbrand camera skin over mine while in a case ever since seeing that video
Will never remove it.
perfect thanks camera lens skin !!!!
I had the dbrand skin for it and had the camera coveres.

Does camera lens protector affect images quality?

Thinking of getting a camera lens protector to protect it from scratches but worried it will affect the image quality. Any comments?
It sucks up 5% of the light, but the quality itself is not affected.
Might have some light reflections in your pictures when you use a cheap one.
No reflections at all here...

where did you get the camera lens from man? Looking forward to buying one for me Xperia 5 too!
Am I missing something, isn't the lens already covered in Gorilla glass 6?
As long as your case lifts the lens off the surface when you put it down, you shouldn't need an extra cover.
Any extra layer over the lens is going to degrade picture quality.

I tested one and found it introduces both glare and tends to diminish clarity. I would recommend against putting one on.
This is also similar to tempered glass or hydrogel front screen protectors. The front camera is so poor IMHO that it needs as much light as possible and nothing to dimish clarity.

Yeap, anytime you add optic elements like this you degrade the performance.
Almost all smartphone cams have built in lens protectors. That piece of glass or plastic isn't the lense, it's the protector!
Get a good case with a raised guard around the cam module and it will be fine.
Replacements aren't that expensive anyway.
Thanks for the inputs. Previously, my old xperia z's lens got covered in scratches during one my trip overseas. But eventually I managed to rub off the entire coating hence removing the scratches. That's why i started looking into lens protector.
