Hello all,
I am currently attempting to troubleshoot/corroborate apparent issues with the mobile radio. My first device took six or seven attempts to activate, and then intermittently threw a no SIM error with what looks like a radio restart (no signal on any bands, cycle between No Service/Searching 4-5 times before reconnect.)
WiFi appears to be good, I'm only experiencing these drops while connected to LTE with no graceful fallback to 3g or even 1x. Drops are happening while stationary and in motion, frequently in areas where my signal is at least decent. The threads linked above both have users who appear to be having the same problem. Particularly strange is that there dose seem to be a location component, there are two spots in particular that seem to be more likely to cause the problem (though not every time.)
I've replaced the device once already in an attempt to resolve this, and while I initially thought that the issue was resolved, I did manage to catch another drop yesterday after running tests forcing the device in to 3g-only operation (the device performed just fine before, during, and for a few minutes directly after these tests.) Of note, I haven't managed to catch a 'No SIM' message on this replacement phone. I have been running an app to notify me of signal loss today, and of course it seems to be behaving now.
If you've experienced any similar issues, please reply and let me know if you've had luck resolving.

Yep this is what is happening allright.
I have two htc one M7s. My main phones.
Last evening, in a very strange shift from her norm, my woman asked to use MY phone to cruise the net.
Ok so she goes on and fifteen minutes later I get the phone back.
Suddenly, in the middle of refreshing a twitter or facebook, THE WI FI CONNECTION GOES DOWN.
I cant get the thing to reset after shutting it off. I have to go to the ROUTER , turn it off then on.
Five minutes later after ROUTER reboot, it is working again.
It is just the beginning of our story. I have a second phone also same make and model. It is midnight now, some four hours later, and as usual I turn off router before sleep.
I wake up, unplug other phone (not the one from last night) and, swap out the sim card to it (was in phone durring Wi Fi problem).
Now, I switch on the phone, and it comes up with LTE cuz Im on mobile. Then I get the normal "ok" from phone message (system communicating with mobile).
Heres where it gets strange. I get the 3G on top bar. Ok this NEVER happens.
One minute later it says LTE again.
Wtf is happening.
Not mentioning in this story little invisible forces kicked my left leg open as I was waking up. Angry *****es over Hillary.

Same LTE issue here. Just contacted Google Support and rebooted to safe mode. Let see if I have the same problem again tomorrow

I've got a Black 32GB XL on Verizon (Verizon Model) and never have this problem. Any tips on reproducing it? I'd love to help test and see what I can come up with. Only time my phone says no-sim is for like 5ish seconds after boot. And I've only once seen the phone fall to 3g in an area with known strong LTE. My previous note 7 fell off LTE pretty often. Specially when jumping between towers. But my PXL rarely (Once) does.

This has been happening to me on my pixel xl 128gb since the day I got it. I reported it to Verizon and to google. Google said bad sim. Verizon replaced my sim and it didn't change a thing. I can usually get it to reconnect if I toggle cellular data on and off. Please let me know if anyone finds a solution.

This is known as hollow bar. And it happens to certain Nougat phones in certain areas.

GPS Issue Has Just Started

I had this issue crop up over the weekend and it has gotten worse. GPS takes 30 seconds to 4 minutes to lock.
Called Sprint, the reset the phone to factory, re-provisioned it and it still didn't work right.
Took it to a Sprint Corporate store / repair center and after an hour and a half them came pout and told me they fixed my 3g issue? I showed them the GPS issue and they are ordering me a new phone as they are all out of them.
BTW....installing and turning on GPS test first doesn't help. Clearing the agps data doesn't help either. At times once the GPS does start working it just simply gives up the ghost and goes dead for varying amounts of time as well.
When this happens, I also get an ERROR 128 message on the screen saying signal was lost. Unable to sign on to the network. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me if it corresponds to GPS, 3G, etc?

[Q] Wi-Fi and SIM Card issues

Hi,
I've called HTC support and having my HOX returned for repair on the basis of the following 2 issues:
1) Wi-Fi, despite showing connected, is not able to connect to any web related connections via any of the apps that require it. If you type *#*#INFO#*#* and check the WiFi status there is an IP address but if you hit the 'Test' button it fails - all other devices in the house are fine during this time. Also I noticed, when this happens the phone is not pingable from the wireless network anymore (it is pingable when phone is working) - other threads here with similar symptoms but not one with a fix for me at least.
2) SIM card randomly restarts! Since the SIM card is PIN protected the phone will then not connect to the Service Provider as it is awaiting for the PIN number - as a person who regularly needs to be on call this is a big fail as the other day proved when I woke up in the morning and saw the phone not connected but instead asking for a PIN.
My question is, has anyone else had either of the above and did they manage to get them resolved after sending the phone back to HTC? Eg. did the phone come back without said issues or what is an utter waste of time?
I guess if HTC support are a waste of time - it's time I sent the HOX to the recycle centre and get £215 for it and get something else rather then beat on a dead horse...
Thanks for the answers in advance.

problem 1 is a (i think) the wifi fault many HOX are having. you can test it by pressing on the back between the camera and volume rockers. Your wifi receipting should go up
2. i also had this problem when is went in a few rollercoasters and also had a bad signal. simple solution > open your simcard tray and close it firmly again. it solved my problem! i think its a combination of both

on part 1:
I am 99% sure I don't have that Wifi fault because the phone already displays 4 sometimes even 5 bars when this happens and I am within 3 to 5 meters away from the AP too - I tried the squeze thingy and if anything it drops bars sometimes...what I did do though yesterday, is to install an extender and when it happens it flips over to the extended AP (if within proximity) and carries on working - I know this because I got a timeout page error and hitting refresh it worked immediately - ps when it happens you notice that small lag where 4-5 seconds go by for the page to load...happy to live with that.
on part 2:
I swapped out what I thought might be the offending SIM for another from a different provider, in hope that by doing so it eliminates the SIM from being at fault and in this case firmly closing the lid again - but it happens with both of the 2 SIM cards - I believe this to be an issue with the SIM tray not making enough contact with the SIM card (had this with an iPhone 3GS a few years ago and the Geniuses at the 'bar' swapped it immediately for another - I understand you have better chances of winning the lottery then HTC doing this though). Anyway both SIM cards work well with the old iPhone 4 I kept as a spare and now using as a daily driver since HTC are meant to collect. If they don't show up - it's recycling time... :crying: I really like the phone but I am not the type to live with such a shortcoming (eg. SIM disconnects)
Thanks for the reply.

Verizon Lumia 735 on T-Mobile - bad signal / no LTE after 10.0.14393.1593 update

So tantalizingly close to full functionality of Verizon Lumia 735 on T-Mobile network, but after a blissful full day of trouble-free operation, back to phone not connecting to LTE, with connection to lower-speed signal cycling on and off.
Timeline:
On July 23rd, had phone working well after upgrade from WP8.1 to 10.0.14393.1480. While travelling in Canada (home service is in US) phone continued to work well. Until I connected to hotel WiFi on 8/8, and - thank you automatic updates, and why can't I find a way to make hotel WiFi be seen as a metered connection?? - received an update to 1593. But that update didn't successfully complete due to me not being connected to WiFi when system restarted later in the day. Phone stopped working reliably at this point.
At home: fresh install of 8.1 via Windows Device Recovery Tool - phone functioned well, picking up LTE wherever present. Ran that for a few days without problems.
Upgrade (via regular channel - upgrade advisor app, phone update settings panel). After all updates successfully completed, phone was again running 10.0.14393.1593. Bad behavior immediately after 1593 update, but one more power off/on restored normal operation. I had a full day of excellent operation with this setup - in fact, stronger / more consistent LTE than I had been getting with 8.1.
...and then... nothing. Phone just stopped picking up LTE, is mostly without signal, and no amount of power cycling or soft resets kicks things back in line.
I've tried:
Added MMS APN as I had done in the past here. Didn't expect that to have an effect, and it didn't. But I had that change in place last time my phone was working, so what the heck.
Showed and then selected "4G only" as highest connection speed in SIM settings. (To make option available, used Interop Tools to add registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Cellular\MVSettings\IMSISpecific\Default\CellUX\HideHighestSpeed4GOnly = dword:0). With this setting in place, network search shows multiple LTE networks available. But selecting mine (T-Mobile LTE) still resulted in SIM settings showing "no network found" for active network.
Tried to get more detailed information via Field Test (enabled ##3282# as per here, for instance. Sadly, this appears to not be a functional option for my phone. Field test launches and gives me the "do not change any values..." warning, but after I click accept, it shows nothing other than the "field test" text at the top of the screen.)
I have only guesses as to why my phone went back to crap functionality after things went swimmingly for a day: background restore of earlier backup? Silent update of one or more Windows components a day after 1593 update was completed? Attempted silent update failed? When bad behavior set in yesterday, it was a few hours after I connected to WiFi - possibly relevant. Running Pasquale Pignataro's Device Diagnostics Hub always shows "Backup Assistant Plus" as one of the processes currently running. I'm guessing this is the non-functional Verizon thing I can't delete nor configure nor run from the control panel; but since it's a Verizon thing, it could possibly be messing with my off-network bliss? Or there is a Microsoft app/agent with the same name and it had a hand in my day-after-fix problems?
Wish my question could be more focused, but that's all I've got. Hoping some of you might have an idea of where I can start digging.
After hard reset, and turning off automatic app updates, phone did pick up LTE perfectly with 10.0.14393.1593 installed, and again worked for about a day before tanking. On the bright side, the loss of functionality isn't permanent, (though it's unpredictable and finicky). Basically: Once LTE is connected properly in one location, I have a very good chance of continuing to get LTE wherever I go. However, at any point, if/when I lose LTE signal, the phone can fail to see it for reconnection - it gets stuck cycling through none/2G/3G/none... for phone signal. I've had some luck getting it back into a good state with a soft reset followed by cycling the power on/off one or more times. Sometimes that puts things right for a full day or more, but sometimes (like just now), I get back into the bad state after a short time of having LTE. Might be tied to making a phone call.
This screams software issue to me, and my gut feeling is that it's Verizon-specific software that's likely to blame. I've so far seen and ignored updates for Verizon's backup assistant, and one other that's simply "name not available". Is there a known way to uninstall the Verizon apps like backup assistant? I haven't been able to find one with my searches. Happy to muck around in the registry, etc. as needed.
Wow, you know my pain. I recently (2 days ago) jumped from Verizon to T-Mobile (job related) and have the exact same problem. Go figure... Anyway, hoping someone may have had some luck looking into this, but I am guessing not. fingers crossed. I also have the Alcatel Idol 4S Windows 10 shipping, but hoped I could keep this one kicking.
Thanks for any help.

New Unlocked S8+ 955U service issue after flying

Recently purchased a new, unlocked S8+ and got a new SIM from Verizon. This was approximately 2 weeks ago. Zero problems up until this week. I have been on 4 flights this week - before each flight, the phone works great. When I land on the other end, Verizon LTE pops right up, varying numbers of bars as one would expect depending on arrival airport, just like it would normally when I have service and can do everything. However, nothing. No texts, no calling, no data. Tried toggling various things, resetting, nothing for a hour after that, all the while I've got 3-4-5 bars and I can see the data arrows lighting up like there is upload/download transfer.
Finally, I tried "reset network settings" as a last resort and immediately my phone works like a charm. It has happened another 3 times since - every time I have flown, with the exact same results.
All domestic flights. While I'm not a guru, I'm not a complete halfwit either - this is my 4th galaxy and it's definitely not something I'm doing or have ever had problems with before. I fly all the time and never a problem like this until this week. Checked APN, it's right. Checked software update - have most recent.
Any ideas? I'm desperate. Have searched literally everything I can think of and no one else seems to be reporting this problem, not to mention it's difficult to describe in a Google search. About at my wit's end having to re-enter wifi and passwords every day, relearn Bluetooth devices. Theres no other way to truly reset the mobile data settings and get my phone to work that I've discovered. Please, please help.
Eject SD card and remove sim, wait a min, reinsert cards. While the phone is on. Should reset just ur sim settings. Maybe

General connectivity issues

Hey folks!
I just picked up the BS3 after being generally disappointed for most of a year with the Razer Phone 2. I got the EU version (I guess?) and have been having general issues with the wireless.
Periodically, almost the entire suite of wireless connectivity just drops. My WearOS watch (Ticwatch Pro 2020) will disconnect, and the custom watchface I use via Watchfaces disappears. Wifi usually keeps working so I may not notice the drop right away, but if I'm on my phone's cellular connection, nothing goes through even though it shows signal and LTE. In my car on my way home from work this morning I was on the phone with my captain, and the bluetooth connection to my car started cutting in and out, to the point that I had to turn bluetooth off to finish the call. There was no issue up to that point, while driving and listening to Audible.
I am suspecting/hoping it was user error in setting the device up. I backed up my RP2 to Google Drive, because I didn't want to lose my apps/data (I was mostly hoping my Swype settings and game logins would transfer over, since Swype died and I'm being a luddite, and the games require the hassle of 'transfer IDs') and have my text messages transfer over easily. I think it also possibly transferred the core device stuff like cellular and bluetooth settings as well, though am not sure.
Turning airplane mode on and off seems to 'reset' things and it'll reconnect to stuff, for a while again at least. I noticed I am somehow still getting at least some push notifications on my watch even though it shows as disconnected. I am a firefighter, on AT&T's Firstnet, so am also not sure if maybe the Firstnet bands might be being finnicky with the BS3.
Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!
ETA: I also get the "Xiaomi SIM activation failed" alert every time I restart the phone, and sometimes after reboot the keyboard doesn't load. ? I get the feeling ill need to reflash again, but knowing where I went wrong first would help! Also curious if there is a stock Android ROM because this JoyUI seems a hassle, and I just don't want all the Xiaomi stuff.
