ROM for daily use without HTC Apps? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi there!
Are there any recommandations for a htc10 ROM for daily use which comes without alle the htc Apps?
Or is it possibly to replace or deinstall the htc Apps like phone, and calendar?
Thank you.

Is this a ROM? I think there is no Google PlayStore Edition of the htc10?!

There is no GPE of the HTC 10, version only available on M7 and M8 and there is no official Cyanogenmod rom actually. Maybe some unofficial CM13 versions but never tested on HTC 10 and don't know anything about their stability.

But you can disable applications in the applications settings if you don't want the phone to load it at start and then, install the app you want from PlayStore or apk file.

Now I'm going to try this ROM I wish it will be good for daily drive.
I'm disappointing because there is no "pure android ROMs" and no "official CM" for our phone..

Just install either cm13 or resurrection remix or did what I did and flash venom and only keep what you need. Everything works that way.

If you don't use Android Pay or Pokomon Go, then I highly recommend Viper 10 ROM, many mods built in and the Aromo Installer can let you choose remove Sense and other HTC apps.
But 1st thing you should do is to unlock bootloader in HTCDev, then flash custom recovery (e.g. TWRP), then you can install Viper 10 custom ROM.

This is only for the dualsim variants. I don't have the single sim and can't really maintain it.
Woa, thanks for your work , long time no see you in 816 community
Thank you!
Thank you for your work...
Is there any chance of getting marshmallow based miui v7,it would be awesome.
Stable and fast, problems with crashing apps are gone. Great work Grarak!
a5dug
Tnx for your great work @Grarak!!!
I flashed CM13 on my a5_dug and ROM works well and smoothly. Both SIMs are set to 3G.
2nd SIM is working but without any voice/hear sound. I couldn`t change 3g to 2g setting, so I do not know if 2nd SIM works fully on 2g.
Maybe it`s just the old CM problem with 816 dualsim. Audio on SIM1 seems to be clearer than before.
I didn`t have much time to check everything, had to get back to fully functional stock rom, but I`ll be happy to wait for and check future realeses.

That's very simple to flash.
- Just download the rom and any gapps for android 6
- Copy it to ex_sd card
- Go to recovery mode (Power+Volum down)
- First wipe system then cach and delvic
- Flash Rom
- Flash Gapps
Then reboot. That's all done.
Any Update
Is there any updated Version of this Rom... Can u find a solution for that? Pls

Mate, plz stop asking for updates. You can only prolong dev's reply or cause project suspension by that way.

I've just flashed new build... It's very the same situation with 2nd SIM. It's 3G by default and can't be changed.
No voice could be heard over SIM2 also. Apart of this, ROM seems nice and smooth as always. Tnx G!

Disappointing - Unstable - Buggy- UN USABLE!

I have a Nexus 6P and i just installed 7.2 as a test. ive been running purenexus and i must say, its disappointingly unstable. i cant use gboard, chrome, Instagram, google assistant, etc. they almost constantly crash to the point of un-usability. Clean install, whipped whole device then did a full flash with open gapps pico, rooted with magisk and finsihed it off with Franco's Kernel. I abuse the living hell out of Pure Nexus and its still more stable than a fresh install.
That's weird, what you posted doesn't seem to look like a question ??
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 PM ----------
Fyi most of the time the rom's kernel is to blame, it's like Resurrection Remix' one.. Flash a custom kernel because the default one isn't good.
So instead of *****ing why not try out a separate kernel to to use with PA7.2
You should ask for your money back.......

[Q] Why there is no vanilla AOSP available?

So when I was using galaxy S4 some time ago there was pure AOSP ROMs (not Cyanogenmod or LineageOS). Why there is no option to download it and install on OnePlus 3 to have pure nexus/pixel phone experience?
This is the closest you can and should get to AOSP

Try VertexOS m8.
There will never be pure AOSP on this device until Google writes the OS for us right now we can build an AOSP based rom but must use LOS/CAF trees for the hardware stuff

Vertex OS is behind on security patches.
No it's not it even has the newest KRACK fixes from lineage (and if it shows an older Security patch level it's because the string wasn't updated)

Keep in mind it also has a ton of CAF with it. That Security Patches under Phoenix Status are outdated doenst mean that it does not have the updated security patches. This has been a known thing for CAF.

I want to be able to theme my device as I want, but also want security. I assume that doesn't exist because the majority of the time you need an unlocked bootloader/root for that?

Well that is part of it. There is a rootless theme option I hear for 8.x but I theme my device the old way.
Now some will tell you that root allows you more control over things making them more secure. This is only partly true. Yes it gives you more control. But if root can be granted due to rooting a device then it can be done without the user knowing. Not to mention the trust you have to have in the dev that controls the root app.
Look up susbstratum.

Yeah you are gonna end up with caf (I prefer this as it is as close. To pure aosp as you can find) or Los based.
The majority of the reason is people being lazy. Instead of doing things themselves they use others bases. So you end up with what we have come to call kitchen sink roms.

One of the things I have noticed, is that I have never liked any LOS based ROMs idk why. They all seem buggy. The only ROM that I have really liked so far is Paranoid Android AOSPA 7.3.0.

That is because there are underlying bugs that have been there for years and never fixed. Now it would take a metric ton of work to fix it. This is why Los didn't fix the issues. They didn't want to start over. This is also the reason many real devs stopped using Los as a base.
I can't talk about PA really. I will not use their roms.

default OS marshmallow based on CyanogenMod

Hello guys , recently i purchased Nextbit Robin, after seeing its interface i was little bit surprised because it came with CyanogenMod (6.0) preinstalled not Stock marshmallow ... I'm facing wierd issues like data consumption issues .... Instant Messaging apps are using very high data & in data consumption tab Android OS is consuming very high
I don't want to use this rom because of above mentioned issues , and battery backup is not good ...
Plz can anyone help me in installing stock MM/N??
Hi there, well i'll assume that you bought a used Nextbit Robin, in that case you have two options.
1-. you can get it back to stock following this post on Razer official page:
https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/robin-factory-images-and-usb-driver.21487/
2-. you can install whatever other rom you want to try ie: paranoid, lineage, omni or carbonRom. just to mention some of them
in case you bought it like new you should speak with your seller
As @pay_omar said you likely bought used so I too would highly recommend you to install the stock firmware asap and stop using the old CM you never know what the earlier owner or the seller have done with that custom ROM.

Where to find Android 2.2 Froyo?

My device is Garmin-Asus A10 that runs Android 2.1 which is not compatible with the PlayStore. Which means I want to upgrade to 2.1 "Froyo" to get compatibility with the Google Playstore.
Where can find such an old beast, 2.1?

I don't have this device myself but, it looks like the following link is specific to your device and has various downloads that includes the Firmwares...
https://www.asus.com/supportonly/A10/HelpDesk_Download/
... I'm not sure about any later Android Versions but, also note that it has everything you need to flash it via documentation, software, etc...
PLEASE REMEMBER: Odin is a software tool that is specific to "Samsung" devices only. You can "potentially" cause irreversible harm/damage a device if Odin is used for any device besides Samsung.
Good Luck!
