Incoming calls cannot be answered or never make it to my phone. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Rooted Sprint Galaxy S6 on Lollipop 5.1.1 with Teamwin recovery
http://tiribulus.net/pix/Phone/1.png
http://tiribulus.net/pix/Phone/2.png
Sporadically lags a bit everywhere, but I cannot receive incoming calls. I use another phone to test and it rings on the calling phone several times, goes to my voicemail and THEN rings on my phone and of course can't be answered. It just hangs there all greyed out until I hang up and takes like 20 seconds for the phone app to disappear. Other times it doesn't even ring at all on my phone. I can make outgoing calls.
The Sprint support guy took me through re-provisioning the phone with some dial pad codes, he did something to the SIM card too , I've uninstalled Drupe (which has been great) and reinstalled it. Tried both when on and off the phone. No difference
Wiped both the cache partition and the davlik cache.
This started a couple days ago when the phone rebooted ITSELF without my touching it and then booted back up into an error that said "Unfortunately, NetworkSystemProvider has stopped.". Couldn't do anything. Tapping OK made it go away for half a second and it was back. A friend of mine managed to get some Sprint specific thing either disabled or yanked and the error went away. Everything seemed to be fine. I'm not sure when the phone issue started exactly or even if it's related to that situation or not. I just noticed today that someone was calling me and I couldn't answer. (I do most of my communications online and don't get that many phone calls, but the ones I do get are very important)
Oh yeah, I reseated the SIM after an error saying there wasn't one after the Sprint guy sent some info to it and that went away.
i am at total loss here. The Sprint guy of course wants to wipe the phone. That would be a monstrous drag for all the reasons you guys already know for a phone that has been working great for over a year like it is.
Please be my new hero and tell me what to do if anybody knows. I have good PC skills and SOME with Android, but this is beyond me.
Thank you SO much.

It also keeps re-sending me old txts

The Sprint store gave me a new SIM card and that didn't fix it either. Restoring a TWRP full image restore from April didn't fix it. A factory wipe in Teamwin recovery didn't fix it. Same exact symptoms no matter what I do.
Ring ring ring ring ring on the calling phone, it finally rings on mine, but is already in voicemail on the calling phone. Once in a GREAT while it will ring just a bit earlier on mine and it will flutter between being greyed out on the answer screen (all the options like speaker etc) and eventually connect the call after a second or two. Nobody I can find has ever seen anything like this. This S6 was working absolutely flawlessly for well over a year.

It also appears I am not usually getting incoming txt messages either, but I am getting only certain old ones repeatedly. Sometimes old voicemails too. It's almost more like it's a remote server issue somewhere.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your phone is failing and will need to be replaced. But before you do that, here is a relatively easy thing to try:
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
Using Odin, flash the latest firmware. You are at 5.11, the latest is 6.01. That will restore you to stock OS, take away root and TWRP, but you'll be able to restore those. You shouldn't have any data loss.
Once that is done, go to Settings and System Update and then Update PRL and Profile. See if that solves it. If it does, you can quickly Root and Recovery again.
Good luck!

TWRP (or Teamwin if you like) won't be an issue. Download Odin on your PC, download the zipped TAR file in the first post of my link. Extract the .MD5 in the zip to the same directory as Odin (you don't really have to, this is just convenient. Install the latest Samsung drivers to your PC, make sure that your computer recognizes the phone. Put the phone into Download mode. (Hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time.) Plug the phone into your computer. If the com light lights up in Odin, you are good to go. Flash the TAR using the AP slot in Odin.
This sounds like a lot, but it is easier to do than for me to tell you. But WAIT! In my linked post, there is a video that will walk you through it all!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv0BnfpNxEs
How easy is that? The only thing that Tim says that is no longer true is that data won't be wiped by default.

OOPS WROTE THIS BEFORE I SAW YOU REPLIED LEMME LOOK
I'm sorry man. I'm actually a seasoned PC support guy. I know I'm being a pain. I don't have muich experience with these phones though and it's been 14 months since I flashed this one. I don't know what most of that means over there.
I don't have the regular recovery. I have Teamwin. There IS an ADB side load function in there. Is that what I use in place of the regular download mode? If so, won't that leave Teamwion on the phone since that's what I'm using? Sprint won't give me another one while it's on there.
How do I know if Odin is seeing the phone? It doesn't appear to act like it knows my phone is attached to the computer. Does it have to be in download mode that I'm trying to find out how to get into here
Forgive my abject ignorance please.

Here is where I'm lost. Holding the three buttons does not give me an option for download that I can find. It puts me in the Teamwin interface.

Could you be holding the Volume Up button, not the Volume Down button by mistake?
Doesn't matter. If you are in TWRP and you select "Reboot" one of the options should be Download. That will do the same thing for you.
You can also install something like this (if you are rooted) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jc.rebootmanager
And one last thing. You need to have your phone in Download mode to be seen by Odin.

Oh goodness me!! I AM A MORON!!
I have been using the volume UP and other two buttons. Not down LOL! For Pete's sake. Aren't I jist a ninny
Let's try this now

Yes, that's what I was doing
It is restarting now, but didn't actually erase anything. It looks like it just upgraded to Marshmallow. However, I am being barraged with txt messages so maybe it fixed it. I'll let you know. Thank you very much for your patience.

That fixed it!!! The phone works!!! I didn't even lose any of my data or pix or contacts or anything.
Now all I gotta do is get ROOT back and TWRP reinstalled.
Thank YOU sir!! The other fella too. His instructions probably would have worked if I had pressing the right button.

What I don't understand is why a known good TWRP recovery from months ago didn't fix it, but an OS upgrade did. You'd think that both should work or not. Its' the same phone and a full backup from when it worked fine. Oh well. I'm just glad it did work.

X-Posed?
While I have you here. You don't happen to have a guide for installing X-Posed on this phone do you? I have the zip installed from TWRP, but when I go to install the APK from within the OS I get what you see in this screen and the guy who's guide I was following doesn't respond. It occurred to me that koop1955 might know. Thanks. Even if you don't.

Re-flash to EC05?

Sorry if this isn't in the right forum, I'm fairly new here. Anyways, ever since EC05 was installed on my phone a few days ago, I've been having nothing but problems. AFter it first installed, the phone would freeze about every 5 seconds, then vibrate a few times and restart itself. After numerous resets, it finally started working. Then my ringers went bad, and my text messages do not go through. Various apps force close, and my phone dialer freezes up when trying to call someone.
Is there any way to re-flash the EC05? I'm thinking I just had a bad flash, since my girlfriend has the same phone and hers is fine. If there is, can you guys please tell me how to do it (preferably without data loss).
Thank You.
I forgot, I'm on stock rom and not rooted.

No problem; I believe the update.zip doesn't wipe.
You shouldn't have to go back to install it.
You can always use MyBackup Pro (in the market) its free for like 30 days, to backup your apps and data, call log and text messages.
Then you can get it all back if it does (though I don't think it will), never a bad thing to run a backup.

Back to Stock

This method is not perfect but if you need to return your phone then it should work. Once you do it, you will be 100% stock, but WiFi is broken as it causes power cycling. Not sure if the network issues I am having is from the restore either but signal seems good but won't let calls or texts come through as they should.
1. So what you do is take a flash-able ROM and remove the extras from the developer... sorry to all the devs but I am not knowledgeable in this department so I took one and stripped the zip.
2. Once you strip the zip of extras you take the system folder in the zip and delete contents... you just want to delete all folders except the system folder, leave anything else that ISN'T a folder then you take a system dump and paste it in the system folder inside the zip.
3. Now you boot into recovery and flash this just like you would if it hadn't been changed. Then you take the stock kernel and flash it via Odin... I did not let the phone power completely on until completing this last step, remember I am a noob so I have no idea if this is necessary.
4. Now you let it turn all the way on and you will see no yellow triangle on boot and you are at a completely stock ROM.
I hope this was helpful to get your phone returned

When I used that method I had the android splash screen no matter what, even when the phone was fully booted all you can see is that splash screen staring you in the face and taunting you telling you that you can't see anything on your screen but it.
This should not even be here. The other link above is better and way more eas for people. This should be removed.
With all due respect to the OP (who is genuinely trying to be helpful), I'm really concerned less-experienced users will wind up hosing their phones trying to follow this process.
If this breaks wi-fi and you cannot take calls or text messages why would anyone want to do this? Seems like you are giving up everything the phone is meant to do.

WiFi is broke... because it power cycles the phone. Calling and Texting works, just not like it should, it seems like the phone will only check for new stuff every 5-10 minutes. I only did this so that if you bring your phone back to sprint they don't question you if its rooted or not because as it sits, this way will not be detectable it just looks like your phone is messed up and they should replace it.

Moving this to Q&A and closing. This is not needed and is not real development.

[Q] Soft Brick,TWRPvsClockwork-Avoiding same mistakes

Dodged a bullet yesterday. FreeGee unlock, chose TWRP and then went to flash stock v9 odex. Wiped Cache/Dalvick and then flashed. Upon reboot I saw LG screen then black and nothing. Tried to LGPNST from download mode with LG driver and could not detect phone. After messing around in TWRP for about 2 hours where I performed about every function available (just before throwing the phone into the fireplace), I queued the z9 odex twice let TWRP flash it twice and everything worked. Here's the thing, my wife's phone is incessantly prompting to update, so I need to flash her phone. Should I use clockwork? Anyway to avoid a similar issue and near total bricking of her phone?
Same thing using Clockwork on wife's phone. Now I'm trying everything to get it back. Still have recovery, but unable to complete system reboot. Black screen. Used to flash evo all the time, never an issue. Now I'm 0 for 2 with a miraculous boot and update on my phone. This one doesn't look like I'm going to get as lucky. CWM is a bigger pain too. Frustrated. Not looking forward to lgpnst (still not sure how it all works) and then trying this mess again.
I had a similar problem to yours last night to. Except I didn't really do anything to it. It was just sitting there charging and I took it off the charger and it was doing some kind of boot loop, But every so often it would just stop on a black screen. I lgnpst about six times back but after running root and freegee I would try to get into bootloader and it would do it again. Eventually I tried doing freegee with clockwork instead and it did it again, Than I forced the phone off and pluged it in to my computer to get ready to lgnpst again so I could at least use the phone. All of a sudden I look at the screen and there was a battery charging animation. And then unpluged it and for kicks turned it on and it booted up no problem. Then I tried booting into bootloader and all works now. It was really strange, I did put twrp back though. I like it better then clockwork. I think I sore you asking questions in irc while I was in there asking question to ha.

-Frank
Frank...yup that's how mine worked. Just not sure how to do this. I don't think my failed lgpnst attempts did anything, b/c mine took the update eventually. I'll keep trying. This phone is so temperamental. Does Shellnut have some input on this problem? I can't figure out why some phones take and others don't when doing the same thing.
Talk to Shelnut2 over pm or find him in irc. I just found out there is a special version of freegee that may fix the problem. I seem to have fixed mine but I sent him a pm asking some questions about the problem. I think you are going to need to lgnpst back. Then root and run the special version of freegee. You have to get it from him because it does some things different that may brick the phone permanently. Thats why you have to ask for it. From what I understand it fixes that kind of problem.
-Frank
I will. I'm going to see if this thing will self correct. Otherwise I will check with him on that. The LGPNST is something I'm not looking fwd to doing.
LGPNST is not detecting phone in dl mode but does detect when in recovery. This SUCKS. Frustrated and out of ideas.
When you installed lgnpst did you install the file that says auto-lgnpst? Also did you run install.bat as administrator?

Always backup your phone before tinkering with system files, and experimenting with launchers, kernals etc.
Titanium backup in WORTH the investment to upgrade to PRO.
Rom manager is a good one to boot directly into recovery without fiddling in the fastboot menu. And for backing up settings and roms.
Always KNOW what your doing. lol. sometimes even the big guys forget this. RESEARCH!

Stuck on Boot Screen CM10

Just tried to installed CM10 on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy II. It's been stuck at the boot animation for over 10 minutes. What can I do? My SD card bit the dust and I don't have the backup I'd made previously. I had the SD card's contents saved on my desktop but no idea where the file would be or what it's name would be for the backup I made previously.
I'm not really a n00b per say. Have flashed CM roms on other phones in the past with no issues. First time this has happened. I've tried doing a factory wipe/reset, wiping the cache and Dalvik. Multiple times. No change. Any help is much appreciated as this is my only phone.
UPDATE: Found my CMW backup files but no luck using them. CMW gives me a MD5 mismatch now. Any ideas? Where can I find a stock T-Mobile ROM of 4.1.2? (I think that was the version I had last)

Just tried to installed CM10 on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy II. It's been stuck at the boot animation for over 10 minutes. What can I do? My SD card bit the dust and I don't have the backup I'd made previously. UPDATE #2: So I am trying to do what's said over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513359 but getting stuck at Step 6/7. No matter what it seems Odin will not recognize my phone. Phone is in Download mode as it says to do but Odin never detects any phone plugged in. Any help?
Have latest Samsung drivers but it appears per Device Manager that it keeps getting stuck (the phone) at "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error. Tried uninstalling device, uninstalling drivers, and reinstalling drivers. Same thing every time. I got ODIN to recognize the phone once but after a few minutes it came back with FAILED.
Wish I could figure this out. More frustrated that I can't get it at least back to stock than anything now.
If you have CM10 installed on your phone and if its stuck at boot screen. Do this:
1. Download darkside-cachewipe.zip from http://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidetools/files/ and copy it to your sdcard.
2. Remove the battery wait for 10 seconds
3. Insert the battery again. Holding the volume keys and power key, boot into recovery mode
4. Install zip from sdcard and run darkside-cachewipe.zip
5. Try booting the phone again.
6. This time it should boot correctly.

I agree(not that you need someone to agree with you), but this should take care of the issue.

Well that seemed to work. I had to do a few other things but I ended up getting CM 10.1 RC5 installed and got to the homescreen. Problem I'm having now is I can't get a signal from my carrier at all. No matter where I'm at. It was connected to it at one point but now it doesn't. It's registering on the network because it says T-Mobile but no bars and no 4G indicator showing up whatsoever. Any ideas? Kind of useless at the moment with no signal.
EDIT: So from another post I have on the CM forums they said to look here in XDA for an updated radio? Any ideas? I'm not a n00b but I haven't modded a phone since my old HTC original Android phone years ago so I'm a bit rusty. My current Baseband is currently T989UVLE1.

You will have to update the baseband to MC6

Yeah finally found that out. There is a TLMC4 but it says it's for Telus not T-Mobile. Would that be a problem?

Ahh yes! Done. Thanks again. Do have one last question. When I finally got into the phone again it started to re-download all my apps I'd had installed previously. But my wi-fi dropped out in the middle of it. How can I make it do that automatic download of my previous apps/settings again? Or can I?

Not sure if you can do that. Go to google playstore from your laptop and then install all the missing apps from the laptop. Its faster that way.
Me too am a flashoholic, so I create update.zip file from TitaniumBackup app and keep it for installing all my apps from the recovery mode.

Yeah I have Titanium Backup even got the Pro one and my SD card got wiped so it can't restore anything now. I could just find the Titanium folder on my desktop because I had made a copy of the entire SD card just prior to it getting wiped clean.

[Q] Probably broke it...[Resolved]

So I was working on putting on a new ROM and when I went to install the PA G Apps zip it said in my recovery that I didn't have enough space in the system storage. Which was a little confusing since I had just wiped it like usual through the recovery before I do a ROM. However I was navigating the recovery since it had been a while and just check out some of the things I didn't notice that changed. Went to the Mounts and Storage area, then I guess I touched "Format /system" and when I realized that it moved to asking me if I wanted to format /system I tried to push NO but apparently I have fat fingers and still pushed yes...So now after having rebooted the phone it is stuck at the screen "Google *small unlocked Lock at the bottom*". And now I'm not sure what to do.
Any advice?
Well this is nothing serious. Just reflash your ROM or flash the new one you werd gonna flash..
P.s. formatting system is a good idea anyway before flashing a new ROM..

Well the issue is it is stuck...I let it sit for at least 5min or so and it just sat there at that same spot. Is that because I need to reflash it? I have the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit, but I haven't used it as of late since I haven't needed it. If you don't mind going into detail I would appreciate it .
Should also mention if I go into the bootloader, it hangs at "Downloading..." so effectively I can't do anything to reflash my ROM or anything. And I probably should be clear that this all happened AFTER I flashed the new ROM and then remembered I needed the PA G Apps. Should have refreshed my memory with doing this sort of thing since I'm not as experienced as I use to be long ways back.

Did you actually use the right combination to go to bootloader? Because from what I understand, you simply wiped your /system clean, which is a simple matter to fix - just flash any ROM or restore any valid backup to make it work again.

Volume button then Power button until it vibrates then keep holding down the volume button? Only way I know how to do it, seeing as I've never heard of another way to do it.

Yeah, make sure you hold BOTH volume keys for bootloader. Hold only VOLUME- for Download mode as you've seen before. If you indeed held both keys but still got to Download mode, chances are you have a broken volume key.

Yep I'm dumb apparently and misjudged how the buttons were being pressed down...now on to step 2! Hmmm....
Seems like the zip for the ROM isnt in the storage anymore. How do I copy it back on from just being in fastboot mode or recovery? I'm not familiar with ADB at all. I may have figured out the problem so hold on...I think I derped and forgot that I removed the device drivers off my desktop because I wanted to fresh install them way back.
Edit2: Doing this the hard way.
OK SO I feel like a total noob, which I really am. I've never used ADB, never tried pushing files, or anything of the sort. I tried for a very long time to get the Galaxy Nexus toolkit to help me out but it REALLY didn't do ANYTHING for me. None of the options worked like I had hoped, the ONLY thing it did for me was to install the missing drivers I needed. Other than that it was utterly useless. You guys may find this funny, but I really had no idea on how to fix this even in the slightest. Even with the responses put here by some of the community.
However, with a little searching I was able to find the answers to my questions, not found here on XDA unfortunately. What I ended up doing was updating my SDK tools and learning how to open up ADB (had no idea why the adb.exe wasn't just opening for me like I assumed it would). From there I used the sideload option in my recovery to help me get my ROM flashed back on my phone. So now all is well and I can go back to being a noob who just likes to find good looking ROMS and play with them every couple months.
Thanks, my issue is now resolved.
