Screen on time - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Since I am always searching what other users are getting out of their battery, before I buy a mobile phone, I decided to create this thread.
I'll kick off.

Running Gossoshop .18S

I'm on an insane run at the moment

I'm averaging around 10 over a day and a half between charges. Don't have photos since I lost them all while rooting and unlocking my phone yesterday. Sometimes it's around 7 and 12 has been my peak

Played 4 hours of music via BT, browsing and google now cards with gmail, yahoo mail, corp. email, adguard etc.

I turned off all power management tools due to notification issue. Still the battery life is insane...
Sent from my LEX727 using Tapatalk

Getting anywhere between 2-2.5 hours of SOT hours over close to 2 days. Still not used to having a phone with great battery life so I haven't used the screen all that much lol. But I usually just use the browser and listen to music. I game once in a while. Watch short videos on Youtube.

I did pick up about 5 or 6% while it was plugged in to usb, transferring pics and music to and from the phone. So take about 95-ish% of that as the end #
Really, really good. I keep brightness reasonable though, and since my S6 a while back I have a standard regimen of disabling stats collection, unused background syncing in google > accounts, syncing of open tabs and background refreshing in chrome, 'find my device' (which has never worked for me anyway) etc. Those help it sleep better if nothing else. But standby time on this phone is amazing anyway. I maybe lose 1% over night, 2 absolute max and that's probably like 9 to 10 hours while getting lots of notifications + audible alarms. I love it though, making it through 1st FULL day is a given. Question now is will I make it all the way through my 2nd FULL day, and so far it's always made that as well. I charge every other night.

I'm getting closer to 5-6hrs SoT. I wonder why...I have three gmail accts syncing and check stocks via Robinhood and browse. That's about it.

For some reason after the update the highest battery use is from Android OS using around 1500 mAh and I'm getting 4h SOT using 1200.. was getting more than that before the update. Anybody else having that issue?

You might be getting wakelocks as well. I had the same issue after the 19s update. Try *#*#46360000#*#* then disable Enable Background Resource Control

Thanks will try this!

I'm not a fan of Le Eco customer service. It's going back for repeated key strokes. Periodically typing something will result in three or five keystrokes being pressed instead of one. For example typing 'r' results in 'rrrrr'. There are some scratches on the unit, despite the case being on since purchase. I certainly hope they won't knock it for normal wear and tear. It's still within the 15 days.

The 19s update turned of many of the default battery saving features, since people were complaining about notification issues.
Go to the 'Phone Manager' and turn off 'Auto Launch' and 'App Protection' for the apps you don't need constantly syncing.

Have you tried other keyboards? Google keyboard (which used to suck and lag) runs super smooth on all of the phones I've tried it on lately.

Battery life compilation for Jelly Bean

I'm interesting in finding a good ROM/kernel combo for Jelly Bean. I know every phone and user has different battery life, so there is no definite answer to what's best. Therefore, I'd like to see what people are getting to try out.
Information I'm looking for:
- ROM (including version)
- Kernel (including version)
- Total up time
- Screen on time
- WiFi or mobile data (3G/4G) !!
- Brightness level
- Sync on/off
- type of battery: standard 1750mAh or extended (specify mAh)
- % used
- Apps mostly used (optional)
A few things I'd like to say: I care more about stats using mobile data (3G/4G) more than WiFi. Why? Because a phone in my opinion should be independent of WiFi for the most part. You might have great battery life with WiFi, but it might not be so great with mobile data. I mostly use my phone outside, where WiFi doesn't exist everywhere.
I'm hoping to achieve 4h screen on with 16h total up time, mobile data on and no WiFi, brightness at 40%, sync on, extended 2000mAh battery. Has anyone gotten this?

That should be doable, some people have posted 6h on screen time with the stock battery, but who knows what they're actually doing when the screen is on. If you're constantly going from website to website you can drain the battery in 2 hours.

I remember I achieved 6h screen on time, mobile data on, using MiNCO ROM, but that was entirely just watching 720p videos (local, not YouTube). But I mostly want 4h screen on time consisting of mostly Facebook usage, web browsing, instant messaging, some gaming, and maybe 20-30 minutes of video.

ROM: Baked
KERNEL: whatever came with baked
BATTERY: standard
NETWORK: Wi-Fi
DISPLAY: zero, no auto
MODEL: Toroplus
My ROM and kernel are in my sig. I've changed a few things(auto starts to prevent Maps from starting, inverted browsing now and then), but no major tweaks. 4 hours screen on is very possible even with sync on if you aren't getting emails constantly. I leave my gmail on all day and manage 18 hours with almost 4 hours screen on consistently if my usage pattern isn't too crazy from what I normally do.
Is there any difference in battery with Tablet mode on ( paranoidandroid) or just "phone mode" ?

Android system draining battery

The android system is draining my battery pretty badly. It's taking about 25 percent of my battery. I have my Gsiff_daemon deleted, but it's still taking quite a lot of my battery. My phone would go down 1 percent every 5 mins in sleep mode. Is this normal and how can I decrease the battery usage of android system? I'm on 4.0.4 stock rooted.

When you have battery issues you need to post a battery info screenshot. Showing your battery use and what is using it. It will help Diagnose the issue.
IMO (I am not pro) I would think being on stock you should have no problem although you are rooted so I think. Its either a hardware issue or something you did. How did you root your phone? if you followed a Tutorial what tutorial did you use?
What i would do is first charge the phone to 100% then let it drain to around 5% and post a screenshot of your battery usage, I would also post a History Screenshot too.
After you have done that you can patiently wait as i bet someone more knowledgeable than I will post something about your issue.
Although Since your rooted you could Install a New Kernel that is made for battery life. That should help if your ROM is not the suspect (I think it could be) Next I would also flash a good stock based rom (that is if you like and want stock based). Pimp My Rom also Has some Battery Saving Tweeks in it if you wish to not flash a ROM try PMR to tweak your system.
I didn't really cared about my battery life before since I always have extra carried with me at all times. But my power is out because of hurricane sandy and I have no idea when will the power be back up. Now every percent battery counts since I won't be able to charge. I'll try to put screen shots up but I only have my phone because my laptop battery died already.

Go into your battery screen and tap on Android System and then scroll down. it will show you all the processes that are associated with that particular facet of the ROM/Battery. In there, you can see what is being used by Android System and hopefully something will spark your eye. Do you have an Alarm/Clock setting, Calendar, media scanning,...? You can force close the offender.
Also you can go into Developer Options and tick Show CPU and it will show an overlay on your homescreen that will show real-time CPU usage.
I turned on cpu usage in the devekoper options and I see that x.xx/x.xx/x.xx (x are numbers I can't track them down because they're constantly changing) are always on the top and takes up quite a lot of cpu. Is that something I need to worry about?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I would reboot and once it is back up and running, go to Settings>Apps>Running and FC everything that you are not using. Then switched to Cached and FC everything that populated over from running and anything else that you don't need.
When I say need, I understand that you are in the danger zone and w/o power. You don't need Facebook, MediaHub, Music/Video,...Not that those are specific to you, but if you only have one battery left with no power in the future, then I suggest going bare bones for the time beaing.
***************
Sidenote: I was just reading about some things and see that some people in NYC are using Hotels/Gas Stations/ Stores that still have power to charge up the cell phones. Not sure where you are but might be worth looking into. How many times have you gone into that corner store? Do they recognize you? Maybe they could share some power. See where I am going with this?
Be safe
I had "Android System" eating my battery too. I'm stock/rooted. I had Cerberus installed briefly, uninstalled - about when my phone started being hot (bottom third) when sleeping in my pocket. Drove me nuts - sorry, but I simply cant tolerate an IDLE phone getting hot in my pocket! Anyway, I rebooted the phone, turned it off, pulled the battery, installed Better Battery Stats - eventually the phone stopped having massive drainage from "Android System" and now it's not hot anymore whether it's on browsing the web or idle.
I guess there are two points to my post 1) the way I could tell my problem was fixed was the phone stopped getting hot -and- 2) the problem hasn't come back for me after a simple fix of multiple-power cycles. I've seen mixed results with a fair number of people saying that rebooting their phone fixed there problem and about an equal number saying the problem either wasn't fixed by rebooting or it came back again later.
If it happened to me again I would open a Terminal and run the "top" command and just keep watching it until I figured out what was eating up my battery (CPU time).
EDIT: Oh - and to confuse things more I used Titanium Backup (pro) to freeze/un-install some of the T-mobile bloatware in addition to setting email to sync slightly less often...
I have my power back on and factory reset my phone. I see android system had already taken 30% of my battery after about an hour of use. There is close to nothing on my phone since it just got factory reset. I don't even know what to do anymore, I really don't want this "android system" sucking so much of my battery.
Id suggest flashing the full stock fw via Odin. Possibly something got corrupted during an update maybe.
I saw uou used Show cpu usage earlier. Don't worry bout the numbers, but watch for the processes that seem to stay at the top and let us know which they are.
You can get the fw from my thread here.

The only thing below the cpu usage is the system_server. Android system is only hogging 11% of my battery today. I don't know why was it at 30% yesterday but it seems normal now.

Just setting this up in my note to see if it does what it claims
I'm not a fan of battery saver apps at all so I'm skeptical right off the bat
but this is from xiam... and it's free... and it has some interesting stuff packed In there so what the heck
it takes 4 days of "learning mode" before it starts battery savings based on your usage
anybody made it thru the 4 days yet?
I see people in the comments going from 10 hours to 18 hours battery life with moderate use but that doesn't make sense to me... This app looks like it's constructed to save battery when the phone is not in use and I don't really have that problem... i lay my phone down at night with 97% and I wake up in the morning with 96%.... how you gonna gimme 30% increase on 1% drain?
But I'm still curious anyway...
Thanks for giving it a test run for the rest of us. Looking forward to your results. I'm using Greenify now so a comparison would be cool.
Also if the guru works with system apps as well.

So I've had it in my Note for 2 days now... not having any problems with lag or anything like that... still showing 1day 19hrs until the battery savings kick in based on learning mode... (funny reading the comments in the play store "had this running for 3 days and it doesn't help at all!!! Uninstalled!!!"... we'll duhhhh... it never made it out of learning mode ya goofballs)
But anyways... i noticed my battery actually draining a bit quicker during this learning phase ... whatever... I'm just being patient and following the instructions and we'll see in a couple days how this plays out.
I installed also and am awaiting to see how it goes. I will post findings later also..

Okay I have passed the 4 day mark after installing this it does help a lil not much If you look in the apps form the aplication it only stops services on what you use the most so if yo inly open a few apps during the learning process its not going to do much but if you open every app you have constantly you will get a much better chance of the app stoping other services you may or may not need

Didn't do anything for me at all... but there's probly a good reason why...
i run my Note bare bones as it is... Beans ROM heavily Debloated... no sync apps running... no facebook/no twitter/no magazine etc... no location services running unless i need them for something... only thing that starts and syncs data would be an email app and Gmail ... this snapdragon app basically tries to save you battery whenever you are not using the phone but i already have mine set up to do that all the time anyway so it didn't help at all... basically just another app running all the damn time.
I would think this app is for the casual user who doesn't take command of their device in the first place (or doesn't know how) or has a bazillion things always running and can't be bothered always trying to control them all. Nothing to see here for the power user who's always on their device or users like me who stripped it all down to beast mode.

My MOTO 360 2 Day Battery Test (with Graphs)

Tested for 2 days with Ambient Mode ON and OFF
After about 3-4 days of messing around, and installing and uninstalling apps and watchfaces, I finally got to a point where I thought I can have a real world battery test with my Moto 360.
For the following test I kept the same Stock watchface on and didn't install or uninstall any app during the test. I also wanted to mention I have Runkeeper, PixtoCam, Phone Finder, and Wear Mini Laucher pre-installed.
So below are my 2 Graphs showing the battery percentage decrease during the day and amount of notifications received during test. :victory:
(I work night shifts, so you can see that I don't wake up till about 2pm )

personally now that it has gone through a few cycles I am confident of all-day use. charging every night no big deal, and actually love the charger so much (effortless wireless, great angle, needed a bedside clock anyway) I like putting it on it
Love the graphs. Nice

Notifications Dont impact the battery as much as you would think. I didn't receive many Notification during the tests, because I finally shut off my Work Email alerts on my watch (Didn't need it). The day before I started testing (4 days after having the watch) I got about 20-30 Notifications per hours (I'm CCed alot in emails) for about 4-5 hours with ambient mode off and I still got over 12 hours of battery Life!
The only thing that kills my moto 360 quickly is messing around with 3rd party app like PixtoCam or Games.

For the tests I set an alarm for every hour and I would just swipe down on my watchface and record the Battery status. I also recorded how many Notifications and disconnections I got in each Hour. (I have a lot of free time at work during the weekends)
Neat. How many disconnects did you get?

I got about 4 the first day and 5 the second day of testing.
It would only Disconnect for about 2-3 seconds and if a Notification came through it would always force reconnect and show on my watch.
I had this problem on my Lg g watch also.
I also notice that most disconnections happen in my Car. I wonder if my car's search for new bluetooth devices affect it? Or if its affecting my phones link to my watch?
Either way never bothered me much.
I don't have any data proof but I am getting 25-30 HR life on a charge. I do the math a handful times a day. Its usually 2.5 to 4% drain per hour depending on what I am doing. Today was 6 am to 10 pm and it went on the charger with 48% left.

I don't have any data proof but I am getting 25-30 HR life on a charge. I do the math a handful times a day. Its usually 2.5 to 4% drain per hour depending on what I am doing. Today was 6 am to 10 pm and it went on the charger with 48% left.

No data needed, I believe you. If you look at my battery chart, my test with ambient mode off was about 3-4% drain per hour. That over 24 hours of usage ! :victory:
so what is the best setup to get max battery?
Tips

As of now there's no real magic trick just do the following and it should help (it at least helped me):
-Fully Charge and Discharge your battery at least 3 times.
-Keep ambient Mode off
-Set notifications (from apps) that you dont need to the "Mute App Notifications" List in you Android Wear Settings
Example: I set my Work email (Outlook Mobile) to that list since I don't need it on my watch
-Choose a Stock Moto Watchface (Until android release Watchface API this is the best option for now)
-Uninstall unneeded 3rd party apps
Thats it... for now. :victory:

Zenphone 2

I have a few questions before I get a ZF2
How is the battery life now ? Did they fixed the battery drain ?
Is Lolipop 5.1 available for this phone ?
Did they improved the camera ? I remember some reviews complaining about the lack of DR in most pictures.
Thank you.
There is no battery drain on this phone. You will always find people complain about battery drain on every smartphone out there.

you should check Android authority's review and tons of people are complaining about the battery life. Maybe you got the phone with an update preinstalled ? That would be a good news !
Are you a moderate user like me ? If you are, how much battery do you have left at the end of the day ?
Thank you
I have it for a month now, got it with an old firmware, now i'm running latest. I get 6 - 7 hours sot over 24 hours. Also, don't use the integrated Asus task killer, battery saver and autostart manager. They only drain battery. I rooted and installed a custom rom that has almost all Asus apps removed but i didn't have battery problems on stock rom either. There is an "android system" that is showing on top of battery usage but it is not a problem for me as it only drains 2-3% over night. I olso turn on data, wifi or gps, only when i need them. I always get top battery life on every smartphone i have, i don't think this is coincidence or luck. The drain is exactly the same as on every other powerfull smartphone on the market.
This phone receives software updates every two weeks and is getting better and better. It just got a new update today if you look in general section. What other oem updates their flagship so often? ?

As previously mentioned, there is no extra battery drain on this phone. It holds up to a good 5-6 hours on daily use. It is an amazing device except for the camera, which is the only bad thing I find about the phone.
Incase you're wondering, ZenUI is AMAZING! I don't know why everyone hates on it, but I've used almost EVERY manufacturer's edition of Android and ZenUI is by far the best. It is the most customizable, it looks the cleanest, and it takes medium amounts of RAM. I say 'medium' because HTC takes A LOT, Sony is whatever, LG is okay, and Samsung takes TOO MUCH.
I feel like ZenUI combines the best in all of the skins and features into 1 neat package that is highly customizable. NOT TO MENTION, you get tap 2 wake STOCK while I had to custom ROM custom Kernel my HTC in order to get a battery hungry and impractical version of it.
Just buy the phone, and make sure to get the 2.3GHz/4GB RAM version.
Enjoy

I'm running stock and get ALMOST what he's getting with stock kernel.
The key is to get root and uninstall/freeze any ASUS apps you don't need/use, install Xposed and use Greenify to freeze apps after they are closed, and finally, set proper battery options such as disabling WiFi & 4G when the screen is off. I need constant email notifications so with the automatic Data Disabling option, I set the GMAIL app as its exception and I continue to get notifications at 10 minute intervals. I assume it disables the networks but re-enables them momentarily and lets GMAIL sync, then disables again. I've never seen this done before especially as a STOCK option.

there is no battery draining (for now) when both are enable anyway, so I dont see why I should turn it off. The battery start draining fast as soon as Im using it. It is by far the worst battery life I ever got.
The good news is I can apparently return the phone at no cost, not even the shipping. I will know more next week. Hurray !
