PK1 firmware? What is this, and what are my options to go back to 100% battery? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

So my wife, not knowing any better, installed the OTA update about 3 weeks ago. Since then she's been stuck at 60% battery. She isn't concerned about root, and her phone has never been rooted. I was going to do the Verizon Repair Assistant (as others have done) to restore her phone to a previous firmware that (depending on what they have on VZW's servers at this point in time) should revert back to a firmware that allows 100% battery. I know we cannot revert from PHE to PH1 firmware, but upon looking at her phone she has N930VVRS2APK1 . A google search of this build gives me ONE result. What the hell is PK1 on a Verizon phone? Now I'm wondering what exactly she has and what my options are to get her on a 100% battery firmware. I may still try the Verizon Repair Assistant, as there's nothing to lose, but any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I still have no idea what PK1 firmware was, but I was successfully able to ODIN her phone to N930VVRS2APHE with 100% battery. I'm a happy camper.

I've never written a guide, but I just pieced this together after going back and retracing my steps. Feel free to post if you run into errors, but it should work if you're on the same firmware as I was. And, of course, I'm not liable for anything that goes wrong.
- Downloaded the N930VVRS2APHE firmware.

Link above is from this site (in case above direct link fails): http://samfirm.net/threads/update-safely-firmware-galaxy-note7-all-model-22-09-2016.119/ Download SM-N930V file
- Install Samsung drivers: http://www.devfiles.co/download/AbRa7wHc/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe
- Install ODIN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3787684&d=1466307212
- Place phone in 'Download Mode':
Step 1 – Turn OFF your Galaxy Note 7.
Step 2 – Now press and hold the following keys on your phone together:
Volume Down + Home + Power.
- Connect N7 to PC via USB
- Open ODIN
You should have a blue bar under ID:COM in the upper left hand corner if your phone is properly connected and recognized.
- Click on BL and find the BL_xxxxxxx file that you extracted from Step 1
- Click on AP and find the AP_xxxxxxx file that you extracted from Step 1
- Click on CP and find the CP_xxxxxxx file that you extracted from Step 1
- Click on CSC and find the CSC_xxxxxxx file that you extracted from Step 1
(note: you will not need the HOME_CSC_xxxxx file)
- Click 'Start'
- Hold your breath and pray it works
Don't forget that the initial bootup on a new firmware can take a few minutes, so be patient and let it do it's thing. Good luck! Hope it works for you as well as it did me.

NV, thanks for these steps. Two questions as follow up:
1) is the process destructive? Does it effect any data or apps?
2) do I need to add the Over The Air Transfer block before or after running these steps?

I removed the SD card for safe measure, which as absolutely recommend you do. Sorry, forgot to mention that. You will lose all your app data, so upon initial reboot and login/setup it should ask you of you want to load apps from a previous phone (you'll select your N930V), at which point it will very slowly download and install all your apps you had before in the background. It may take 2+ hours, even in wifi. When they're done installing, you'll have to log back into each of your apps.
In regard to the OTA update, yes, you'll need to get Package Disabler Pro and disable the following two processes so you no longer receive any pop-ups or requests to update:
com.sec.android.soagent
com.samsung.sdm
Note: It appears now that Package Disabler Pro and EZ Package Disabler (Samsung) have both decided to completely f*!% over people like us that paid for the apps to disable Samsung bloatware and OTA update reminders. They have removed the ability to manually disable packages (such as the ones we need to deactivate the OTA update messages). If you try and install a previous versions that allowed manual disable it fails the license authentication. They force you to use the current version, which no longer does what we need. Shady business practice and total horse ****.

Whaaaat? So none of this can be accomplished and we are stuck with the 60% battery of the Verizon update?

No. You can go back to the 100% green battery, but cannot disable the packages so that the phone stops reminding you to update. Just don't accidentally hit it and you're okay.

Okay, but the 60% package was forced on the phone, will these new reminders force their way on to the Note 7?

NV, when you say "you loose all the app data" will this process erase the email accounts and all the emails, contacts, etc, on the Note 7? I am just using the built in email for a couple of accounts.

I can not find these processes in disablere. Still asks update.
Maybe there is a way to obtain Root with this firmware?

I doubt we can get root, but here's how you can disable OTA update nags:

Disbler pro did not help, they blocked these processes are associated with the upgrade. Install the new version does not work, wants to update.
Another program is OZ Disabler. Just need to install the earlier version.

rar it's archive. You need to install the "win rar" app. Unpack the file "rar".
If you do not know what a "rar" better if not to experiment with it.
Verizon promises to turn off all note 7 of the fifth of January.

[HOWTO] Easy Root Instructions (Sprint or T-Mobile) [Updated 24 June 2012]

First off, let me say that I did not develop this schtuff and all thanks should go to those that did. Special thanks to noobnl (his thread here), mskip and TeamEpic for all their work.
A note about these instructions:
They're long and may seem a little daunting to those that aren't experienced. Please don't let that deter you as they've been written to be as simple and easy to follow as is reasonably possible assuming you can work a Windows PC and extract a zip file.
==> If you encounter problems with these instructions, please check the FAQ in the post following this one. <==
For video instructions (courtesy of qbking77) scroll to the bottom of this post.
General Disclaimer:
Use these tools and this guide at your own risk. Doing these things wrong/improperly/etc. has the ability to completely ruin your device and YOU assume all risk and responsibility if that happens.
Also note that rooting WILL violate the manufacturers warranty on the device making it ineligible for warranty repair. If you have insurance on the device however, they MAY still replace it for the cost of your deductible.

Non-ADB Root instructions (Windows Only):
First, the non-dangerous, standard user stuff:
Download and install the Samsung USB drivers from Samsung's website: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...nt_L710_GSIII_Samsung_USB_Driver_v1_4_6_0.exe
Turn on Debugging on your Phone
Open Settings
Select "Developer options" in the System section
Check the box for "USB Debugging"
Press "OK" to confirm.
Plug you phone up to your computer using the USB cable and allow the drivers to install.
Download CMW_SuperUser_v3.07.zip from the bottom of this post
I recommend making yourself a nice little GS3 folder in your downloads folder for all this stuff so it's easy to find
DO NOT UNZIP!!
Copy CMW_SuperUser_v3.07.zip on to the Root of your GS3s INTERNAL storage (if you put it into a folder, you may have a hard time finding it later, but that's on you).
DO NOT UNZIP!!
Unplug your phone
Power off your phone
Now, this is the part that can BRICK your phone so follow ALL instructions CAREFULLY!!
Download Odin3-v3.04 from the bottom of this post
Extract Odin3-v3.04 into it's own folder somewhere where you can easily find it.
Download clockworkmod.tar from the bottom of this post to somewhere you can easily find it.
Reboot your phone into download mode
Hold down Volume Down, Home and then the Power button until the Warning!! message is displayed
Press Volume Up to continue.
Your phone should now be in download mode, displaying a green Android and say Downloading. If it is not, power off your phone by holding down the power button and then try to get into Download mode again. Do NOT progress until you have done so.
Go into the folder you extracted Odin3 into and run Odin3 v3.04.exe (you may have to Right-Clik => Run as Administrator)
Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Drivers may install again; if this happens, allow them to finish before progressing.
In Odin, the COM box all the way to the left should turn blue and it should say Added!! in the Message area.
Click on PDA and in the Open window that pops up navigate to and open the clockworkmod.TAR file you downloaded earlier
Verify that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked
Click Start. Once the process is completed you device should automatically reboot and there will be a green PASS! box in the upper left of the window. You can then close Odin.
Power off your device and boot into Recovery mode
To boot into Recovery mode: Hold down Volume Up, Home and then the Power button until the device begins to power on then release all 3.
You'll know you're in recover mode when it says "CWM-based Recovery" at the top of the screen
Install CMW_SuperUser_v3.07.zip that you copied onto your internal memory
Navigating ClockWorkMod Recovery: Use the Volume Up and Down rocker to change the highlighted option and the Home button to select an option. The Back softkey works, but will not be lit and will take you back one screen.
Installing a zip:
Select "Install zip from sdcard" (Yes, I know it's on the internal storage.)
Select "Choose zip from sdcard"
Select the zip you want to install; in this case CWM_SuperUser_v3.0.7.zip
Select "Yes" to begin installing
Once the process has completed use the Back arrow to get back to the main recovery screen (Remember: it works, but it's not lit) and select "reboot system now." Once your device boots up you should now be 'Rooted,' but there's still a few more things to be done
Install BusyBox. There are actually several ways to do this, but the BusyBox app in the Google Play Market is quick and easy.
Install BusyBox (this is a link to the online verison of the Google Play store. You can actually follow this link and install it from there and it will get pushed to your phone. Alternatively, just search for BusyBox in the Google Play store and it should be the first app in the search results from author Stephen (Stericson))
Open BusyBox Free from your App Drawer
Allow it Root access when it prompts you
Tap the red "X" to close the dialog window that pops up
Allow BusyBox to scan you phone
Tap "Install" to install BusyBox and make the necessary file changes.
Update your Binaries.
Open the Superuser App from the App Drawer
Get into settings (the wrench icon in the upper right of the screen)
Select Su binary under the General section towards the bottom of the list
Select Update
Your device is now rooted and all set.
How to video (YouTube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Soapch0c5U
Thanks again to qbking77 for the instructions video!
P.S. If you are a developer or I have used some of your material and/or you feel you should be credited, please let me know and I will update this post.
Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ is in the works as more questions roll in so I'll do my best to keep it updated.
Q: Odin failed! What do I do!?
A: Try plugging your USB cable into a different USB port on your computer and/or try a different USB cable (Odin's picky about the cable). The drivers may install again; if so, wait for them to finish. After that, verify that the device shows as Added in Odin again and click start again. If that still fails, try unchecking F. Reset Time box and removing any MicroSD card you have in the device, plug the device into (yet another) USB port and try again.
Q: Will these instructions work for other US (LTE) versions of the GS3?
A: I have not personally tested this method on any other versions of the GS3 but uoY_redruM and carrrnuttt (and others) have confirmed that this method works for the T-Mobile version as well. It should in theory also work for the AT&T and Verizon versions, though that's unconfirmed at this point.
Q: Ok, so I've got Root. What now?
A: That's entirely up to you. Root allows a near endless amount of customizatoin, but some of the most commonly sought after benefits of Root are these:
Root Only applications. These allow you to simply do more with your phone or tweak the way it functions. Some that I personally recommend are:
Titanium Backup and its Pro Key => For making backups of your apps, app data and system data and uninstalling or freezing Bloatware.
Quick Boot => For booting drectily to recovery or Download Mode (listed as Bootloader in the App)
Removing Bloatware => I recommend Titanium Backup for this
Loading custom ROMs. There aren't many floating around just yet, but I expect that'll change soon as the ball gets rolling.
Excellent write-up. Thanks. Now can we install custom roms from other forums or do we have to specifically wait for any to come up here.

You should wait for any specific Sprint Galaxy S3 ROMs that get posted if you want to ROM your phone. I'm sure some will be popping up by the end of the weekend so I wouldn't expect that you'll have to wait too long
Excellent write up, though I don't see the difference in methods; maybe because I speed read it but if you follow noobnl's method, you basically do the same thing, minus the adb to set the permissions, though if you install busybox, its the same goal. Again great because some people are afraid of adb.

Yes, this and noobl's method are pretty much the same, the main reason for this post is to put the method into an easy-to-read step-by-step format that's easy for beginners to follow. Remember, we were all beginners at some point
I come from HTC so Odin is new to me, this guide is little more friendly than noobl's method. Although either would suffice this is just pretty clearly laid out.

SGH-I747 Block OTA updates

Device and OS: SGS3 AT&T (SGH-I747) 4.1.2.
Goal : Cancel the pending OTA update and its notification; prevent future OTA updates and notifications.
Assumptions: You've seen galaxys3root.com how-to-root-u-s-and-canada-galaxy fail-proofnoob-proof (Newbie here so can't yet post the outside link.)
This companion post simply collects the information into one place and optimizes the sequence of steps, instead of reading a whole disjointed thread, which I could not even find again anyway.
Phase 0 - Prep.
- Back up your data.
- Download the necessary files.
Phase 1 - Root the device.
- Connect via USB.
- Use Windows to copy SuperUser.ZIP onto device.
- Boot into download mode (Vulcan death grip with volume down).
- Use Odin to copy RecoveryGalaxyS3USCanada.TAR onto device.
- Disconnect USB.
- Boot into recovery mode (Vulcan death grip with volume up); the new loader launches.
- Install Chainfire's SuperSU (it's inside SuperUser.ZIP).
- Reboot normally.
Phase 2 - Stop OTA updates.
- Using Root Browser:
- Delete the one file in /cache/fota/.
- Rename /etc/security/otacerts.zip to otacerts-zip.bak.
- Add write-permissions on /system and /system/app (really not sure this is necessary).
- Copy FOTAKill.apk to /system/app.
- Rename /system/app/FWUpgrade.apk to FWUpgrade-apk.bak
- Reboot.
- Notification page may still say "New update postponed" (it does not swipe away).
- WAIT until the current postponement expires.
Now the notification is gone!
I feel like there may be one rename that I forgot, but it's listed around here somewhere.
Seemingly spurious information:
- Titanium Backup requiring Lucky Patcher requiring BusyBox; that whole stack failed so not used.
- Remounting /system using a terminal failed.
Wow.
A much easier way if you' ve obtained root would be to uninstall and reinstall titanium backup, click on backup/restore, then go down to where it says AT&T software update (or whatever it's called) click on it, then click uninstall. You will never receive any update notifications again.
Also, if you've already installed the recovery, the update will fail if you let one go through, so you don't need to do anything else to block updates after flashing that .tar file.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
uninstall and reinstall titanium backup, then uninstall AT&T software update (or whatever it's called). You will never receive any update notifications again.

I first tried using TiBu to freeze AT&T software update, but it was failing for some reason, so I scrapped that approach.
I want to be able to accept OTA later, just not now, so not ready to completely uninstall anything.

Step by Step guides on rooting / un-rooting the T-mobile LG G5 (MM 6.0.1)

Hello everyone,
Here are some step by step guides for those of you who need detailed instructions for rooting and un-rooting the T-mobile LG G5.
The guides are short and to the point and are meant to be followed one after the other (STEP#1 --> STEP#2 --> STEP#3).
For the step#3 guide, you must choose one out of the three available guides below:
Guides:
Tmobile-LGG5_pre_flash_MM_6_0_1_requirements_STEP_1
Tmobile-LGG5_pre_flash_MM_6_0_1_requirements_STEP_2
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_root_with_stock_MM_6_0_1_Re-install_STEP_3 <------ If you want to re-install stock MM 6.0.1 with root
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_root_with_stock_MM_6_0_1_Upgrade_only_STEP_3 <------ If you want to root current stock MM 6.0.1
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_Stock_UnRoot_MM_6_0_1_STEP_3 <------ If you want to have stock MM 6.0.1 only (no root, use this if you want to return the phone or sell it)
They will walk you through:
Downloading and Installing the necessary drivers / tools
Unlocking your bootloader
Flashing the stock .kdz file
Flashing the rooted .TOT file
Using TWRP to gain root status
I assume the following:
You are using a Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 7 or above)
You understand that all data on your phone will be deleted

***Un-root***
If you want to "un-root" your device (go back to default stock) use the Tmobile-LGG5_flash_Stock_UnRoot_MM_6_0_1_STEP_3 guide.
(Keep in mind that this WILL DELETE all data on the phone)

I take no responsibility in what you do to your phone
The step-by-step guides in this thread were made with the assumption that you will strictly follow them one after the other.
(If you don't, YOU WILL brick your phone!)
If you run into an problem, verify that you have correctly completed all the steps for each guide before posting to this thread. Most problems come from guides / steps that were skipped.
If possible use a laptop that is fully charged and plugged in to an outlet instead of a regular PC (unless it has a UPS attached to it) just in case you lose power during the flashing process.
(If you use a regular PC without a UPS attached to it and you lose power during the flashing process, YOU WILL brick your phone!)
I would like to thank the following people for making all of this possible:

Your work and dedication does not go unnoticed, thank you. I would also like to thank anyone else not mentioned here that allowed the rest of us to get root on our beloved LG G5 phones. The android community is awesome!!!

**Changelog + News & Additions**
Changelog (for the guides only):
7.16.16 - All guides have been updated to reflect the new 10d .kdz and .tot files. All links to tools, .kdz, and .tot files have been updated as well.
News & Additions:
7.16.16 - Multiple updates
A modified H83010d rooted .tot file has been released (thanks to Tungkick & wolfu11)
Guides are safe to use again. All links in all the guides have been updated to reflect the new H83010d files
If TWRP is not showing the internal storage but only the external SD-card take a look at post 24
7.9.16 - There is a new firmware update (H83010d) for the LG G5 (T-mobile) which is not compatible with firmware (H83010a) the .TOT files used in this thread have
If you upgrade to this new firmware, you will lose root.
There is no current way to get root on the new H83010d firmware unless the modified .TOT / KDZ files are released with TWRP included
There is an anti-rollback feature in the LG G5 (t-mobile) phone that prevents you from flashing back the H83010a firmware after you upgrade to the H83010d firmware. Attempting to do this WILL BRICK your phone!
Do not attempt to use the guides which are using H8301a .tot / kdz files if you have updated to H8301d. I will be updating the guides as soon as the H83010d modified .tot / kdz files come out.
5.29.16 - LG G5 & LG V10 possible driver issue: First reported on Post#6
If you own an LG V10 and have used your PC to root it, you most likely installed drivers, tools, and or files specific for the V10. What this means is that you may have to uninstall those drivers, tools, and or files prior to installing anything to be used for rooting the G5. This does not include the ADB program which can work for both.
i just felt the need to post and say thanks for this even though i dont need it. Great effort pulling these together, they look good and are very clear. Thanks! :good:

Thank you.
Thank you for the walk through. I had a little trouble with drivers and had to uninstall all drivers and reinstall exactly as you have it written here for it to work. I have a LG V10 which probably caused some conflict.
Two questions:
1) Does this automatically encrypt the phone? After flashing both the no verity and the SU it boots in to "encrypting" with no other option. I have not had this happen with any other device. Did I mess something up?
2) The password at the beginning of TWRP is requested every time, even after flashing the no verity zip. What did I do wrong?

ETA:
Something wasn't right about the No Verity app. I redid entire process and was able to get it to work with root being successful. Left this up for others - I Believe my mistake was using an external SD to install SU first and then no verity. For some reason they were NOT showing in TWRP on the internal SD even though I KNOW they were there.

Thank you for your input skyfox99. Your solution to the issues you faced will help others avoid them. You made me think of something I did not anticipate which is what happens when you attempt to root your G5 using the same PC you used to root a V10. I am definitely adding a service announcement to the Changelog (post#3) to address this possible issue.
When I get to step 13: Verify that the LGUP Tool works... the progress frame never shows up, even after restarting my PC. Am I missing something? Please help

i believe i'm having the same issue, no files show up in the explorer in TWRP regardless. I've been using a usb thumb drive with a usb c adapter to flash files from twrp. i followed directions perfectly and i still see the warning encryption message and read-only message when starting twrp every time.
i have root tho and everything seems to be working fine

Anyone find a fix to this? I'm stuck in the same spot, I've gone through the entire process twice now, including resetting the phone back to 6. No matter what I try it seems TWRP won't mount my internal storage!

I guess I'm having trouble understanding exactly what your issue is. Are you saying that when you boot into TWRP and you go to the INSTALL section to flash the encryption zip and the superSU zip you don't see the files? Can you attach a few screenshots so that I can better understand what you are going through. Thank you.

No, I copied after wipe so they were there. Computer recognized them and so does file manager.

There is a TWRP bootloop set of instructions in another thread, run those commands and see if it resolves it, maybe?

I had to reflash no verity a few times, before installing SU. There seems to be a problem with TWRP.

I didn't have any of the issues you guys are reporting in this thread. TWRP sees both internal storage and SD card. And has since I originally rooted.
Will unlocking the bootloader and rooting my phone or if I install a ROM take away my sim unlock?

This is a good question and I unfortunately do not know the answer. I truly don't think your sim will be affected but I am not sure. Sorry.

It's a very weird problem and unfortunately the only thing I can think off is that TWRP might not be compatible with the SD-Card you are using.

Honor 7X with installed TWRP bricked by OTA update ... any help?

Hi,
the first time after years of installation of custom roms ... seems it happens to everyone once a while. What happened? I installed TWRP and Magisk with a bit of trouble but finally it worked well. Put the box aside to finalize installation a day later. During the night an OTA update came in together with a Magisk v15 update. So in the morning not really fresh in my head I looked on the display, thought it was my son's 7X (which is untouced on stock rom) and accepted installation and reboot ... BAMMM ... only the line "Your device is booting now ..." gets added to the unlock message screen, that's it. TWRP can still be reached, it is the only mean of shutting the box down, since holding down the power button until shutdown gets it back to the boot screen.
AH ... just for completeness: It is a BND-L21 ... or at least it has been one.
Update: After another night just laid down and switched off even TWRP is gone, now the EMUI recovery gets booted. No way to shut down the device besides let it drain the battery. I have no idea what this piece of crap will do after next reboot.
Already checked: There is currently no way to download the stock rom. And also the EMUI recovery can't locate a downloadable package on the servers.
Second Update: I still can reach TWRP by pressing all 3 buttons together during boot. By this I can get to bootloader and it gets recognized by fastboot on connected PC. But the EMUI resore kicked in again and now TWRP is again on just Vol+ together with PWR. TWRP is not able to save the settings (e.g. TZ). Is there a corrupted file system responsible for some of the issues? Power off initited by TWRP can only be reached if no charging USB cable is connected.
Any help or any idea? Tnx in advance. :good:

Restoring the backup is the only solution it seems.
Yes ... hmmm ... backup ... that was what I intended to do that morning when the BAMMMM happened. I really had a bad start with the 7X ...
So in case someone has a backup of a clean or nearly clean system partition, please send me a PN. Tnx in advance!
Normal make a Backup in Twrp before modify the System Partition.
Make not an Official Ota Update with Rooted and Twrp installed Rom
Its not the phones mistake that you mess up and wakeup and take the phone for a spin in half sleep
and bamm, i really dont know what that meant. i would say go to the honor care center and get it to them to work.
the procedure which i know of is tough and things like bamm happening might worsen things like TWRP not starting at all.
i have seen people bricking their phones but its never the phones fault.
i would never recommend doing a "BAMM" thing doing and flashing all the stuff randomly cz i dont think magisk is supported fully yet to our phone and you flashed it without asking anyone.
the other russian forums are flashing chinese stock firmware which is the only original firmware available, but the task to change the settings to work for other variant is a huge stock which i gave link to a few people but for you i wont recommend that cz obviously your situation is totally different so go to the honor center and explain them and they would help you.
good luck! next time verify and be careful before flashing anything at random cause its not the phones fault.
Thanks for help, guys. Really ... even though it helped me not a single bit.
My activity has obviously not been on purpose. 2 phones, both looking exactly the same and they are without any apps so far. Since TWRP installation did not went smooth I will not tweak my son's device, therefore even if I have a second device more or less available, I will not touch it to get a system backup. And yes, TWRP backup should be the first thing to do but I have not had the time at that moment. So ... it is the way it is. Magisk is been described as a recommendation at another site, therefore I put it in also for the root hide functionality (my son loves Pokemon go, which will not run on rooted phones), because I wanted to try it first on my phone. Bad luck I would say.
And yes, I'm quite clear about the fact, that the computer just does what you tell it to do ... if you ruin the areas where the OS is located, then it is your own fault and not the device's. Nevertheless it freaks me a bit.
I am really looking forward for a nice AOSP or LineageOS version for the 7X. Oreo or Nougat, I'm fine with any of those. But I would expect, that this will take some time.

I'm in a very similar boat. The Magisk v15 update bricked my L24. I had another one available and have made back ups through twrp to restore on the bricked one. It actually boots, but all I get is a black screen with the menu, home, and back buttons now. Holding power gives me the options to restart and power off. Hope they release the stock rom soon, or custom roms be available soon.
root your son's 7x, make a boot and system backup and restore that in your phone.
reboot

Back to life ... at least about 80%. Rooting leads to corrupt system partition (unable to boot afterwards) and bootloader can only be reached while a USB cable is connected (unusual behaviour). Nevertheless ... got it running. SID ... you are my hero of the day. Will PM you regarding comments for your thread.

UPDATE ... got it back to life, at least partly. The only thing is, that constantly the android adaptions of Huawei is making it unnecessary complex or is stopping progress at all. This is the log of my actual tasks. Key to progress was the unlocking of the system fs, which has some inconsistencies in the file system. In general, it gives me a 7X, that boots and I can install apps via HiSuite. Nevertheless I have no idea how to deal with Gapps. If I install opengapps, I will not be able to register an account - just hangs for a long period and then comes back (are there any logs written on the device to analyze a bit deeper?). Gapps without an account maks no sense. So I tried it without opengapps but with installing play services via HiSuite, granting rights, rebooting twice, installing Playstore, granting rights, rebooting twice, but starting Playstore after this procedure just tells me, that gms has to be installed (which in fact is already).
Any hint?

2 - load ODIN on PC and disable AUTO Reboot - Next load BL.tar in BL, AP.tar in AP, Stock CP in CP and Stock HOMECSC in CSC
3 - Click start to flash the files - when completed, keeping phone connected to PC, press and hold power and volume down and as soon as the screen turns off, press and hold vol up and power UNTIL in TWRP
4 - Head to the TWRP mount menu disable MTP
5 - ONLY IF YOU DONT HAVE A MAGISK.ZIP ON INTERNAL STORAGE copy app-debug.zip to your adb folder and then open a command window and first confirm adb is working by typing adb devices you should see your device listed and "recovery" next to the device in command window - this means adb is working - type adb push app-debug.zip /sdcard this should send the app-debug.zip to internal storage (or sdcard if you prefer)
6 - go to the TWRP flash menu and you should see the app-debug.zip, flash it to root your A12 device - this needs to be done everytime TWRP is flashed in Odin it seems
7 - reboot to system from TWRP power menu
You will boot rooted, updated and with intact data if all the steps above are followed correctly
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROCESS IF COMING FROM STOCK A12
1 - Unzip the 4 odin files from the zip provided in the link above & connect phone to PC (please ensure dev settings are enabled and that you have unlocked bootloader and checked "Oem unlock" is faded out under dev settings)
4 - Head to the TWRP wipe menu and format device (type yes and press enter) - then reboot TWRP
5 - when TWRP has rebooted, go to the mounts menu and disable MTP -> this will allow us to send app-debug.zip (magisk) to your sdcard
6 - copy app-debug.zip to your adb folder and then open a command window and first confirm adb is working by typing adb devices you should see your device listed and "recovery" next to the device in command window - this means adb is working
7 - type adb push app-debug.zip /sdcard this should send the app-debug.zip to internal storage (or sdcard if you prefer) - go to the TWRP flash menu and you should see this app-debug.zip, flash it to root your A12 device
8 - as stated previously, i have disabled encryption therefore we just need to boot STRAIGHT to SYSTEM from the TWRP POWER MENU
9 -When phone reboots, set up as normal and you should now see a magisk stub in the app drawer meaning you are rooted
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MAGISK PATCHED AP FILE IS UPLOADING AND WILL BE AVAILABLE IN A FEW HOURS
Reuploading patched AP file to Mega and will be available shortly
G-drive too a dump on me last night - apologies for the delay
@ianmacd is working on his disabler soon so we will be able to simplify things a bit also - thanks for bearing with me!!
ok my teammate has built a tested and working AP file to use in the guide above - this will be up very shortly
mine was fine however my internet connection is not lol
Ok guys - sorry for the muck about!! the patched AP file is now live in the first post - therefore you can go ahead and root!
Follow the steps carefully, please also read and make sure you have everything prepared before you start
Had a couple of peeps join my telegram chat asking about OEM option being missing.
Please note that this guide only covers the WWE F926B at the moment (US models have a locked bootloader afaik)
Thanks a lot for your work, Just got my hands on with the device.
Is losing the camera option inevitable?
There is no way to keep it enabled?

Hi, have you managed to upload it to Mega too? I can’t download it from google drive — it failed three times and now it tells me it’s inaccessible as too many people tried to download it...

Yeah, after an hour or so it let me in again, and didn’t fail this time. :O)
Killing the camera after unlocking the bootloader is a stupid and crappy move by Samsung.
I remember, oh so long ago, when Samsung actually supported us here on XDA, found quite a large number of things done by devs here suddenly appearing on their "next big thing", then they quietly withdrew their support and went over to the dark side of the Apple-verse.

They don't seem to care as much about the modding community nowadays it seems.
Iv had Sammy phones since s8 and been modding with roms since March last year and they've all been a ***** in some way to root

See, now I'm starting to feel old.
Been here since S2.
Samsung actually had representatives on the forum. They actively helped with rooting and used features that were developed here on XDA, assuming with the dev's permission, in their latest phones (suffice to say most of the features we take for granted today were developed here).
Rooting was EASY. As simple as flashing CWM on to your phone. No worries about KNOX or losing any features. That came around the time of the Note 3 along with region locking.

So from my understanding, Knox was actually designed for dual rom booting, as a way to keep the original firmware in tact and safe, but also be able to flash a custom rom for dual boot. But investors, carriers, and the like decided they weren't happy with that and saw that it could also be used to lock the device down to make everything more secure for their intents. After like 4 iterations where Samsung kept being pushed, it became what it is today.
I'm assuming they thought if they just impliment everything that a person would root for, that it would make people OK with it, but of course not the case. In the end, just like any other major corporation, they let money push them around
If we root, remove bloat, and then re-lock the bootloader, would the bloat still be gone? Knowing Sammy, they would prevent us from removing bloat.
I can handle holding out on flashing a sweet ROM if I can remove garbage like Bixby.
As soon as you flash any custom binary then your software is classed as custom and will not boot at all with a locked bootloader. It would soft brick requiring a stock odin flash to revive device most likely

You can remove and/or disable bloat with adb commands for now. There is a thread about it somewhere in our forum
Samkey apparently now supports f926b but I'm getting unsupported firmware errors on AUG8 and AUHF. I really want to get rid of this three bloat
