[FIX] [SOLVED] Google Play Store and Play Services in Amazon Fire Phone Not Working - Amazon Fire Phone

Hello All,
Fellas (many many many fellas) like me are out there who have installed Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, and Google Play Store in order to enjoy all the Gapps and other apps that use Play Services and the apps that are not available in Amazon appstore. I am pretty sure, many of us would already have come across the issue mentioned in title, including myself. Google Play Store stops responding (only settings in Play Store app is accessible, but content of Play Store don't show up), many apps that use Play Services stop working (Hangout, Duo, Maps, Tweeter, etc.). That, is, not a happy day, when you find this out first thing on a sunny morning.
Please note that the Amazon Fire Phone that I have is a factory unlocked and I only had above 4 apks installed to be able to enjoy Google's facilities. I was on Fire OS 4.6.6.1 (466001420) when I faced the issue.
Anyways, I decided to play with Play Store and Play Services a bit to see if I can get things to work.
Since you all (most, but I will take the liberty to say "all" ) have Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, and Google Play Store in your phone, I assume you are aware of the process that is most of us used to get these Google goodies in first place. They are all over the forums. A few examples are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/help/guide-fire-phone-fireos-google-apps-t3206603
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/general/fire-phone-how-to-install-google-play-t2977237
http://spinyourfire.com/fire-phone-tips-and-tricks/amazon-fire-phone-google-play/
Basically, you just install apk files of Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Service Framework, and Google Play Store in your Fire phone (in that specific order).
When the issue occurred, I had Google Play Store 7.1.15 and Google Services Framework 4.0.4-338691 on my Fire phone. I am not sure about Google Account Manager and Google Play Services. You may have different versions.
Here is what led me to success. Hope that helps some of ya'll out there, too!
I just downloaded the newer version of above 4 apk files from apkmirror. However, here is the catch: Not all of the most recent versions of 4 files work. I started with the most recent versions of 4 apk files available today (20 Nov, 2016) and started working my way backward to check which files were able to be installed on Fire phone. Go ahead and download below four files and install them in below mentioned order:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-account-manager/google-account-manager-4-4-4-1227136-release/google-account-manager-4-4-4-1227136-android-apk-download/
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-10-0-84-release/google-play-services-10-0-84-030-137749526-android-apk-download/

Above files are Google Account Manager 4.4.4-1227136 no dpi, Google Play Services 10.0.84 (030-137749526), Google Services Framework 4.4.4-1227136 and Google Play Store 7.1.25.I-all.
Steps:
Download above for files to your Fire phone in Download folder (or any other folder that your prefer).
Uninstall previously installed Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, and Google Play Store from Fire Phone.
Restart the Fire phone.
Install the newly downloaded files in this order (Uninstall Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, and Google Play Store from Fire Phone.).
Open Google Play Store. It should now ask for your Google Account ID and PW, indicating that the Google goodies are back, to serve you. Upon logging in, your apps will show up and "Installed" apps and they will begin auto-updating (if you allowed such in settings and if updates are available). Other apps in your Fire phone that use Goole Play Services will also start behaving normal.
I came across this solution as trial and error. During the process, If you come across any observation that may be useful to others and myself, don't hesitate to voice yourself; post what you see and help all!
Also share if you were able to find any other (and possibly easier) solution to this issue.
Till then, Enjoy!

Thanks. Those apks worked for me.

This works; but My Cloud stored personal music tracks are not showing up any more.

This works.. but My Google Play personal tracks from the cloud (uploaded using Music Manager) are not showing up.
In a twist, very curiously those show up and work perfectly when I do the same things on my Kindle HD6; I use the exact same hack that I use for my fire phone. Both used to work perfectly. After this Play service Issue, and the subsequent fix, both are back again with the exception of the personal tracks issue only on the fire phone.

I wonder if you uninstall Play Music, restart the phone, and reinstall Play Music from Play Store, and see if that gets you fixed up. Another thing you might try is somehow trigger the Media re-scan.
Just some thoughts.. Disregard if you've already tried or post your findings if you end up trying...

Thanks.. That didn't do it.

Yugz5.. Thanks. I'd done the re-install, but not power down. I tried it with powering down after re-install. Same result.
I can't find any option for media re-scan by itself. But switching accounts should do pretty much the same. Switching between my accounts where I have some tracks saved all give the same "null" result. The tracks themselves are there and safe as I can access them from non-fire devices, browsers on the PC's, and even from an Amazon kindle tablet (Play app) as I mentioned before.

Yea, I guess, switching between the account should have the same effect as Media re-scan. I suggested that coz in android, some players were used to non-recognize the files and clearing the cache of media scanner was a known fix..
As far as powering it down, you said you did the restart, but that was after the reinstallation. I meant to say, perform a restart "between" uninstallation and reinstallation.

Yes, I understood your intent. That's exactly what I'd done -- i.e. power down between uninstallation and re-installation. But I'd mis-typed it in my last post. Didn't solve it.
Anyways.. this gets me 99.9% of the ways there for me, and this minor irritation I can live with.
It is nice to know that the same fix -- the same files -- work for HD 6 and the new HD 8 also. I am not sure how many people know this. After self-updating, Google slaps some minor variants of the same version files that are different than the ones for the fire phone -- presumably because of the hardware variation.

When I subscribed to the Google Play Music 4 months free offer, it went through some machinations, complained about something not being right, and when I logged out and logged back in.. voila.. all the tracks are back. When I checked the versions of the 4 files, they were all the same. So I thought this should be something fixable.. and sure enough.. now I see the "Refresh" option under setting. Not sure how I missed that or if I missed that.
Any way, all engines go now.
Thanks for all the brainiacs on the thread here.

Is there any way to Redirect or open APP Links only on Google Play Store?

Hi all,
I am using my two Fire Phones with the latest FireOS 4.6.1, and I must say that all works now much better, faster and smooth!!!
However I have some problems with some APPs that needs redirect to the Google Play Store...
When I was using my Fire Phone with FireOS 3.6.8, all APPs like AppGratis AppsZoom, Always opened a litle floating window, and always gave me the option to select between "Google-Play-Store" and "Amazon APP Store"...
But now after the FireOS 4.6.1, I only have the option to select, on the floating window, only the Amazon APP Store.
The Problem is that some APP offerts are only available from the Official Google Play Store and not from the Amazon APP Store!
So, I would like to know if there is any way to Redirect or open APP Links only on Google Play Store?
Thanks in advance for help!

I don't have that problem. My Amazon App store is not disabled and when I click on a playstore link it gives me two options: open with playstore or silk browser.
My system is very basic: 4.6.1, 4 google apps installed, and disabled the following: Amazon device client platform, DCP platform contracts, and two apps called System Updates.
Try and see if that works for you.

Those, together with the system update apps, and a few other binaries, download updates and patches. I didn't want Amazon to use this mechanism to patch my root method. I disabled only these four because with more apps disabled the map or some other Amazon app will stop working.
If you decide to do it I don't recommend using Titanium. Just go to settings, then applications, and use the disable button there to do so.
This can be done by going into settings, applications, Amazon apps, appstore and choosing don't open links in appstore.
Can you offer the steps?

I've tried this and external markets still don't work within Google Play apps- tried an office app and an assistant app- both will not install key components after initial install because "External Market Links Disabled" and "You can choose to open external links with the Amazon Appstore. Update the option in the External Markets Links section of the Appstore Settings."

You should be ablessing to do it in settings but if you can't then root is your friend:

Thanks ratbags for your reply and information, however as khaan13 already has mentioned, I have found that this method does not work at all...
That is why I was asking of some kind of APP, that could perform this function automatically!
Maybe I'm asking too much, or perhaps we will need to ROOT the Fire Phone, but although we don't know it yet, have to be available some APPs that will help, redirecting the links only to the Google Store Play?
Curiously this was working flawlessly with the previous FireOS 3.68, but it stopped working with the newest v4.61...

khaan13, please tell me the names of the apps or PM me...
edit: I re-installed the US version of FireOS today and didn't use root, so that it's as vanilla as possible.
Installed Google Services Framework, Google Play Services, Google Account Manager & Google Play Store.
@ ulises.rodriguez It seems like the Amazon Appstore overrides all other external market services. That's why you can only choose CANCEL or CONTINUE when the "Continue to Amazon Appstore?" question pops up.
I know, having both Stores active at the same time would be more comfortable but you have to deactivate the Amazon Appstore when you want to use external market links, e. g. for AppGratis offers.
AFAIK, there's no "market switcher" that could help you solve this issue, so for now: stick with en-/disabling it manually.
MAYBE, you guys should compare the version numbers of Amazon Appstore, Google Play Services & Play Store, ask najoor what he's using and see if it makes a difference.
Mine: Play Services 7.5.73 (1976294-036), Play Store 5.6.8, Amazon Appstore release version, no update. (Device remains unrooted during testing)
edit: I now disabled all apps through "manage applications", all but the Amazon Appstore. Still the same behavior: Appstore intercepts all external market links. It shows no option to choose between Play Store and Appstore.

Thank you for your reply and your offer to assist. I have a brand new fire phone, upgraded to the latest OS. I side loaded Google Play using the common technique you mentioned above. I did this first before the upgrade to the latest OS (3.6 something OS), but the Google Play store was would not run. Tried reinstalling GP a couple of times. Read somewhere that someone had luck after an Upgrade to the latest OS. That worked for me. I am able to get some apps to work flawlessly- I had a Google Play version of Injustice - and it works great. SpeaktoIt Assistant - won't finish the install because of Amazon. But some Google Play apps that want to add additional functions or upgrade will try to open Amazon store instead of Google Play. I've also had problems with OfficeSuite 8 Pro.
Thanks again...
My versions:
Fire OS 4.6.1 (461013820)
Google Play Store 5.6.8
Any ideas?
Google Play Games 3.0.11
Google Play Services 7.5.71
Google Services Framework 4.04-3386891
@ khaan13 I tried "Assistant" & "OfficeSuite 8 Pro", both install and work without problems, as long as the Amazon Appstore is deactivated. No surprise at this point, really. :/
@ ulises & khaan "Market Switcher": I tried a workaround on a rooted device:
Installed "Titanium Backup (Pro)" and created a new widget ➜ "Titanium Backup (Actions)" ➜ "Freeze / Defrost / Launch an app" ➜ "select the app" Appstore (version blabla...) ➜ "Create the widget".
Now I have a little button widget that controls the Amazon Appstore. At least it's practical and I don't have to navigate through several menus to de-/activate the Appstore.

Another question
When you say deactivate the amazon store, which process do you mean?
1) Settings - Applications / Parent Controls - Configure Amazon Application Settings - Appstore - In-App purchases (disabled) and External markets (do not ask)
OR
2) Settings Applications / Parent Controls - Manage Applications - Appstore - Disable
If I choose "Disable" it warns me that data will be erased and then asks if I want to "cancel" or replace the app with the factory version".
What do I do here if this is what I am supposed to do?
Thanks

[Q] Play Store this app is incompatible with your device errors?

I've rooted my N1 (for how to do it see the Play Store thread) and installed Play Store.
It works fine except lots of apps are not downloadable because the store says that they are not compatible with my device. Some stuff that will not install:
LINE messaging app, Google Maps, Google Chrome, Habit browser.
But lots of others are working like:
Gmail, Firefox, Firefox beta,....
I tried to sideload Google Maps and Habit Browser they work. Well not fully, it cannot find my location. (while some others can). The strange thing is that I don't even see them in the recent location requests window. (the location was broken before I rooted)
Anyone having the same issue?
Because of the location issue I have a feeling that they are related - the APIs are buggy, thus Play Store thinks that my device does not have a way to access location, thus lots of apps are flagged as not compatible with my device.

Chrome was crash same like you.
But I found apk for x86, It's work okay. but I use Firefox now.
Link is what I used one.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/chrome/chrome-42-0-2311-111-x86-android-apk-download/
Thanks, I have found the x86 version too.
My question is not where I can find Chrome or other software, rather *why* marks Google my device as not compatible with apps like Chrome when apparently they seem to function fine (except geolocation). Also I know that if I change the build.prop file I could fake my device to something else.
This method http://www.ghacks.net/2013/05/06/find-out-why-apps-are-incompatible-with-your-android-device/ does not work for me, I dont see those tooltips.
I think this incompatible issues from ARM, ARM64 or x86 based Android device.
One more another I guess is N1 is not cetifified from google maybe.

Its not a x86 compatibility issue since these apps work when sideloaded. And its not a certification issue (I guess) since other apps like Gmail are available on the Play store.
My feeling is that this has to do something with geolocation not working in some apps. For example:
Firefox - Available on the play store, does not use Google Play Services, has working geolocation.
GMail - Available on the play store, uses Google Play Services, but does not need geolocation.
Chrome, Google Maps - Not available on the play store, uses Google Play Services for geolocation, geolocation is broken.
Or just search for GPS apps, you will see that the most of them are not compatible with the N1.
So I think Google Play Services/something else reports to the Play Store that the device has no geolocation, and some apps mark it as a required hardware feature, thus the Play Store will not show them.
I've tried to find some error via Catlog, but have not seen any.
But this is just a theory, we need more testing to verify it.
Yes, you right.
I don't have consider this issues from locations.
Do you have any idea fix this issue?
I like to to test.
Most of incompatible apps are available in Nokia store app. Then you can update these apps on Google Play Store.

Installing a new ROM and having to buy all your stuff again from Google Play

Anyway to get around it?
In the last few years I've installed dozens of ROMs in several devices from smartphones to tablets and NEVER had to pay again for any app.
Your purchases should be tied to your google play account, not your device or rom.

Adding on to that all you have to do is log in to the Google Play account you bought the apps/games/movies/music on and then find that product in the google play store. Since you bought it before it will let you download it without paying again.
A great app for making a list of what you have installed is My App List (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectsexception.myapplist&hl=en). It will also take you to the play store and let you install each app on the list. So run it before you flash, store the file it creates some where other than your device's storage, flash, install the app again and then copy your list back where My App List need to find it and go put your apps back.

How solve all Google issues, sync, payment, maps...

Hey,
I got many issues with my BS3 Chinese.
After many tries, install apk etc the solution to fix everything is to search in installed App Store the Google installer called GO(+chinese stuff).
This app will delete every Google thing already installed then install good version of play store, framework, etc.
This fix payment issue, maps, sync except contacts.
To fix contacts sync you need to download Google contacts sync apk.
Dont forget to give all permissions to Google app or service.
I hope this helps.
I have try this Go+ a.k.a google installer from appstore..but i try to buy diamond for mobile legend and others games cannot..any ways to make it success?
I think you missed some authorization for Google apps

MS Office App (all in one) not updating in LineageOS

I have 2 different phones, running LineageOS 18.1 and 19.1 respectively. After the initial install of MS Office (All-in-One) App, the App will not update automatically from the Google Play Store in either phone/LineageOS version. Updates get to 90% download and then just crash out. I have to manually find the latest APK and force it. Been this way for over a year. Uninstalling and reinstalling the MS Office App cumbersome and moreover, I have some custom settings and fonts that are a real pain to reinstall. I can live with the installing the APKs, but I sure wish this was simpler. I have emptied out Google Play Store and Play Services caches etc. Does not help. I can find nothing on-line. First I thought it might just be something I've done. But problem is on 2 completely different phones, but both use LineageOS.
Could of course be Microsoft. They have an undated post that says Google is aware of the problem (!?)
