Time Zone Problems - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my HTC 10. My country (Turkey), I have no idea why, decided to stay in the daylight saving time, so now, we are at the +3 zone.
But dear HTC engineers, not like Samsung or LG or Apple or any other manufacturers engineers, didn't update the time zone settings on the devices.
So now I have two options. Keep the +2 and set the time manually. That's how I can have correct time on my lock screen and weather widget, but everything else is wrong. (Such as my calendar entries, times on social media apps and so on)
If I set the time as +3, then weather widget and lock screen times are wrong.
Since HTC sucks, I don't think we will get any updates about this issue quite soon. I just lost my patience and I am sure this is my last HTC device (I was a huge HTC fan, seriously, a user since HTC Diamond!), but anyways, is there any kind of fix I can do? Do custom roms fixed that or I can root the phone and fix it by myself?
Thanks everyone in advance for their answers

custom roms didn't fix it. There is nothing you can do. Maybe the nougat update will fix it but htc shows no intention to fix it since it is not sold much in Turkey. Same issues with me I'm on latest viper and had to set everything manuel. Just reinstall your social media apps while the time is corrected

Have you accomplished the hard reset though..? If not - please do...

And did that work when you cleared those two check-boxes? and manually set GMT +3 of any suitable city (country) what does not use DST ..?

Make sure the widgets are set to use the clock you want (for clock, open it, hit the three dots menu, set home time zone--it's probably set at your prior settings).
Also, wait a minute for it to update; it may not take effect immediately.

None of them works unfortunately. I still use my phone on wrong time zone and having calendar and other problems.
The main problem is the Clock application. Lockscreen clock and others are checking time from Clock App's database. Whatever I do with my time settings, in the end phone checks my location. Finds it, checks it's database for 'what time it is there' and gives the wrong time.
So I would like to learn something. If anyone with Nougat can confirm that, I will be really happy.
When you have automatic time and time zone, can anyone check World Clocks tab, and compare Istanbul's time with google. (Just google 'what time is it in Istanbul')
If they are the same, it means that HTC fixed it in Nougat and I will wait for an update.
If there is one hour difference, I will just root my phone, install a custom rom, get rid of sense and sense lockscreen and others...

I'm on Nougat, and the phone shows one hour earlier than timeanddate.com displays for Istanbul.

Real issue is that there is no Timezone rules update service.
The real issue here is that Google still has not provided a service that will update the timezone rules on an android (Or chromebook), without the need to do a whole OS update.
A simple service... just needs to get one zip file and put it on the darn device... They don't even have to build the rules directory contents another consortium already does this. Seems like a simple fix. They don't even have to push the update every time the db changes, only 2x per year. Middle of summer and Middle of winter so we catch the next seasons rules updates for fall and spring.

Time not updating in Sense?

This normally happens after I upgrade to a new ROM (doesn't matter which ROM) but not always.
I can have the HTC clock not displaying the right time, so for example:
- The big clock on the Home screen shows: 11:07.
- The little clock on the top right of the screen shows 11:18
- But if you press the big clock on the Home screen, it goes to World Clock and it actually displays the right time, which is say 11:36
Not sure why - sometimes 3-5 soft resets fix this, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone experiencing the same thing? I have G-Alarm and PhoneWeaver installed.

Disable time synchronizing in Phone settings.
Did you install a 01:02 clock flip fix?
Tried turning it off and reset, still the same.
I didn't install the clock flip fix. But even if I do, the clock on the task bar (top right) is still wrong (which is not part of the Manilla interface)
UPDATE: Anyway, after like 5 soft resets, problem seems to go away as usual..guess can't help it
Had such a problem on my old Hybrid ROM's. People where reporting it, however I personally never got it. So imho it's an issue with the timezone.
I've had exactly the same problem.
The time/clock in Sense seems to freeze on the hometab, but a smaller program (I use Battclock) is showing the correct time on the taskbar. If I go to "Start menu" and then back, the clock will flip and update correctly.
Haven't figured out the cause nor the solution. Anybody?
...and if it matters, I'm using "Co0kie's Home Tab" for modding the Home screen.
Easy. Just do a soft reset multiple times until it's fixed by itself somehow Make sure you turn off the time synchronization online like jackos said too
Firstly, turn the time zone synchronization is Phone settings.
If it doesn't work I'll provide you a bit more firmly steps.
PS Uninstall ANY 1:02 cloak fixes. There is imho just one version by amrullez (or whatever he is called, sorry) that actually doesn't freeze the cloak.
Thanks for your replies.
- I had Time sync. disabled under Phone settings, nevertheless, time freezing on home tab.
- I haven't installed any 1:02 fixes, but still the same clock freeze.
- Used both TouchLockPro and ManilaLock from Co0kie's Home Tab). Both of those lockers seem to display the time straight from Manila/Sense, so when the time froze on the Home tab, it was also frozen on the unlock screen (had to unlock each time and check the actual time on the taskbar (using Battclock).
I did find a "way" out of this (at least it has been working for almost a day now), although I'd like to find a more stable fix for this:
I installed the S2U2 locker (but I prefer other less memory demanding lockers). It seems as when S2U2 unlocks it "forces" home tab to refresh (similar to when I go to "Start menu" and then back). Will let you know if this fails.
Jackobs, have you got another way to fix this (especially so we don't have to depend on S2U2 or other "not quite" solutions)?

I'm using TouchLockPro too and I don't think that it does use the time from Sense
By the way, I'm Jackos not Jackobs Anyway Jacobs sucks, so please keep in mind that this coffee is ****
OK, be sure that the time isn't synchronizing with the internet. Sense -> Settings Tab -> Data Services -> Internet time sync -> Uncheck Get time from internet
Now the "hard" way. Usually the cloak freeze problem is related to autotimeupdate.exe. The file is in ROM, but we can just exclude it from loading at the start. Go to HKLM\init\ and delete the key called autotimeupdate.exe.
Remember, that I have never got this issue, but I had similar problems with my old Hybrid ROM's and a lot of users reported back that the issue is fixed by deleting this registry key.

Totally agree on TouchLockPro not using the time from Sense, but since it shows the Home tab with the flip clock "in the background" the time isn't correct when you want to quickly check the time (although the time on the little taskbar clock is right, but not quite as handy).
Also, all apologies for the name misunderstanding, Jackos, my bad =)
Will revert back to TouchLockPro from S2U2, see if the time continues to freeze as before, if so apply your fix and report if it keeps freezing.
Many thanks Jackos!!

[Q] Clock Widget - Bug - Daylight Saving Time

Mates,
I´m facing an issue with the clock widget, can you help me on that?
Here in Brazil were under the daylight saving time. There is: here we are GMT-3, however, as per the saving time, we will be for the next months GMT-2.
I´ve configured the device, automaticaly, to be GMT-2. The calender time is ok and perfect with that. Also, that "desk clock" app and my alarms are working fine. Notwithstanding, the clock that appears at the bottom of the screen (aside to the battery icon) is quite fine too.
However, the widget clock keeps showing GMT-3. There is: all my device is working fine with GMT-2 (saving time), but the clock widget do not adapt itself as GMT-3 (saving time).
Do you guys have any idea on that?
Regards!
If you haven't yet switched the daylight saving time, then the main clock will show the correct time, and will automatically change when your clocks change.
If that makes sense.
hey mate, thanks for the reply.
However it does not makes sense.
All settings are ok, but the widget just don't sync with the settings of the phone. Everything is synced with GMT-2, but the widget keeps showing GMT-3...
Same problem
Hi, hmoroni
I live in Brazil and found the same issue... HTCSupport doesn't know anything about this bug. Have you found any solution?

it makes perfect sence, maybe you should read it again..... he said, if you have daylight saving enabled on your device, the device knows you are in brazil and in daylight saving time, your timezone is GMT +3 whether or not you are in daylight saving time, your timezone dosent shift you know lol
Basically, wait till its DST.
Cheers from my DHD.

Having the same issue here. Using HTC Desire (LeeDroid Build).
=/ Seem a bug with information of Sense Widget. In summer time, Android says GMT -200 in normal days is -300.
Yeah,
Android OS shows the correct time (GMT -2 because of summer/saving time), The main problem is with HTC clock widget and HTC Clock App (in World Clock mode).

Yes. Seems a problems with Reference of Clock+Location. Because it detects our main cities with GMT -3, but is GMT -2 in Summer Timer. =/
Any suggestion? I'm thinking contact HTC for this issue... what you think?

SIM Locked Notifier

Some of us HTC One X owners have noticed that the phone asks again for a PIN SIM code when you are in a bad-coverage area for a certain amount of time... if you don't notice it, you risk to miss calls or messages since you are out of the network. I'm learning to develop android apps and so I wanted to build my first useful (I hope) app for me and for the ones that have noticed this issue of the One X.
SIM Locked Notifier enables you to activate a ringtone or vibration (or both) when PIN/PUK is required. In this way you avoid missing calls or messages when your phone is out of the network, waiting for a PIN.
Get SIM Locked Notifier on Google Play!
I hope you find it useful, yesterday it warned me two times about this PIN issue (I'm happy because my app works, but I'm worried about this issue... hope they solve it soon).
The app is not heavy, it does nothing until the SIM State changed broadcast event is fired and the state is PIN/PUK required.
REMEMBER: run the app at least once after installation to enable the SIM Locked Notifier monitor. You must do this only once after installation, then it works even after a reboot.
Should this be the reason for me to get a lot of these messages? The content is my Operator name, my area name and my area code.

They appear a lot, and they come as a SMS from a number 50. The thing is, the interrupt anything that is running (pauses) and stand in front of everything, just like old iPhone messages. So they are different from my normal SMS, that just leaves a notification in the status bar.
If this is it, I'm gonna be so glad that now I know the reason...
P.S: My SIM is not PIN locked, so this may be the reason I see those messages.
Greetings, Santroph.
I too have been having this problem on random occasions and have missed calls/sms's etc that were important.
This app appears to be working perfectly +1 for this and thank you for all your work.

A little bump for visibility
I hope someone else will find it useful, yesterday it "saved" me twice from being out-of-network.. HTC must solve this issue in the radio code (I think the problem is there..).
Just updated to the new firnware, which has new radio fw.. maybe the issue is solved now.. I think my app will have very very few downloads, btw it has been a good test project to learn a bit about android
Inviato dal mio HTC One X con Tapatalk 2
good app
im on 1.29.401.11 and the issue is still there
any chance this app could also notify when theres no signal on the phone?
where theres an X by the signal meter?
reason i ask, mine one x sits on X for a good few minutes before asking for the pin code

I also had the same issues yesterday, so it's making me think it is an hardware fault of the HOX and not a radio firmware bug....
About the App, I can not extend it in the near future since I have very few time to dedicate to Android development.. but maybe one day I'll update it with your feature BTW, I hope you like the app and find it useful.
Possible solution
Thank you for the App! It really saved me while I was experiencing this issue.
Here is the possible solution:
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Open Phone Info Menu
3) Turn off!!! IMS Registration required
I'm continuing to test if it's permanent solution, but for the last 3 days the issue did not occur.

Perfect!!
How did you manage to have live tile Updates every minute?
I thought the min you can have is once every 15 minutes, when your app is on the lock screen.

After you start that app it will. You need the lock-screen permissions to allow the app to run in the background. It is how Microsoft manages background tasks

Great app. Amazing how hard it was to find a good clock app that had a Live Tile.
Since you asked for input, how about adding the option to have multiple timezones in the actual app? Would eliminate the need for multiple clock apps and push my review from four to five stars. If you add this, don't make the mistakes many others have where you can add a timezone but not remove it or reorganize their display order.
EDIT: Would be nice to be able to simply disable the weather section rather than having to set location to auto and then block location permissions... Also, in 24 hour mode, why does it still say AM/PM? That's completely pointless.
EDIT2: Is there a reason why the live tile just stops being a live tile after a while? Or is that just a Windows 8 limitation?

[Q] How did he do this? Homescreen help!

Hi Guys,
I recently saw a homescreen posted in the homescreen forum for the HTC One M8 that I really just loved. I tried contacting the person who created it, but he hasn't quite replied and Im unsure if he will.
I don't mean to intentionally rip him off, but I just love the way it looks and how clean it is that I wish to have it on my phone. However I have no clue how to do this. I figured the best and easiest way was to ask him about it directly, or even ask in the forum itself. But it seems as though its been skimmed over and no one has replied, so I hope you don't mind me creating a new thread just for it.
He gives the zooper widgets for the top and bottom bars, which i downloaded, he gives the list of apps used. But me being a fairly new techy, I have no idea what to do. I can get all these apps, its just a matter of using them correctly.
I figured that maybe some of you guys knew what to do? Maybe help me on my way?

Cheers,
Get all the apps he listed. He's also using custom icons, looks like they're Cyrcle (in the store). Then, simply add widgets. Honestly, that set up looks like it took him a while. I'd download the launcher called Buzz Launcher, since there are many ones just like that in the community downloads
As it's fun to find out about and doing these changes all by yourself I'll give you only some additional information for success:
'Coming from N5' implements, he is running the GPE version for this device (any AOSP/AOKP rom should do as well - as a sense rom might behave different under some circumstances)
To change screen density you have to edit /system/build.prop by finding the line ro.sf.lcd_density=480 and change its value to 400. Reboot...
This set of icons always has to do sth with the word circles - a proper search might bring you here.
Remove everything from screen, check nova settings and now start playing around initially with zooper widgets and the rest of his tools.
The result should be this screen. Have fun!
---- edit
Oooops - forgot the wallpaper. TinyEye reverse search will bring you here.
One more thing: Without root you won't be able to edit build prop. Remember: No root - no fun.
Looks to me like he's using themer.
Looks like a lot of work done using UCCW and a custom launcher such as ssLauncher to open up the whole screen
Anybody knows the white icon pack being used here?
Just download Themer from Google Play, there's dozens of themes many like this too.
