Mi Max Helium Stuck on Mi Logo - Xiaomi Mi Max Questions & Answers

Hi, new to the forum and new with flashing android. Got some troubles when trying flashing my Mi Max Helium.
I successfully installed TWRP 3.0.2-0 (From http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-0-touch-recovery-t3388073) on Mi Max Helium (locked bootloader), then booted to TWRP and flashed the latest official v8.1.3.0 global ROM. However, Mi Max stuck on Mi Logo after reboot.
I flashed with a mod ROM (Helium Global 8.0.3.0 Stable Rooted (10-13-16) by ajsmsg78, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/rom-miui-8-global-t3439698) and successfully rebooted. The system automatically downloaded v8.1.3.0 global ROM, but TWRP kicked in during system restart which resulted in update failed.
Just don't understand why flashing mod ROM succeeded but official one not, and how can I update to the latest ROM? ajsmsg78 has mod the latest ROM but it seems having some glitches and I don't want to use it.
Thanks.

hi richard few things to keep in mind while flashing
1)the only way to flash official rom (miui firmware) on a locked bootloader would be to put phone in edl mode(press vol up+ vol down+ pwr btn simultaneously on pwr of condition) and flash thru miflashtool beta using fastboot files. this is regardless in which rom ur on presently custom cm/globe/mod miui.
2)ota update can happen only when ur on official firmware that too.global stable to global stable r chinese stable to chinese stable.similarly with developer roms
so if u want to to get to official firmware.first download the required files: miflashtool and setup on pc.download fastboot firmware (files end with .tgz extension.extract twice u end up with folder contain some files and folder named images).now point to the folder containing extracted files.check"clean all option" at bottom right of miflash window. put phone in edl mode and flash the firmware.u will lose twrp recovery and root.

Thank for clarifying. What if I flash supersu right after flashing official ROM?

It works!

After flashing a rom then press reboot system, if you see messeage, "No OS installed", you just need to flash superSU to let it mount your system again, that's all

Helium Stock Fastboot Firmware

Greetings, I can't get my flash to see my phone, even after installing QC driver. Mi PC Suit is also not see it. I was able to Flash the Nougat Beta via the fastboot firmware and running flash all. I can't find the stock global rom with fastboot install, just zip. What are my options? I can wipe and install the stock zip firmware in TWRP (just booting but not flashing TWRP) and I get no errors in the flash, it all appears normal but the phone won't boot. I will say that I am almost certain this did work the very first time I tried it but have not been able to do it since. Can I rename the MM ZIP update zip and run the updater in Nougat to flash back to MM?
Also a side question, but it really bugs me that I can't boot into stock recover/wipe by the powewr//up Vol buttons. Just get the picture of a PC asking for Mi Suit. Is there a trick to getting to stock recovery? Thanks for any help

Help! Tried installing TWRP now my phone ONLY boots into TWRP!

I'm on Whyred in the U.S.. I unlocked my bootloader today after the two week waiting period then tried to install TWRP with ADB command lines and got the
"FAILED (remote: Anti-rollback check failed)" error so I then attempted to install TWRP through the TWRP recovery itself but accidentally ticked "Boot" as the destination. Now my phone will only boot into TWRP recovery and I can't get into MIUI 9.6.3.0 anymore! What can I do to bring my phone back?

Download the miui 9.6.3.0 rom, extract boot.img from that, copy it to phone, flash it in the boot partition, voila.

Glad I could help. Next time, be more careful. ??
I don't think I'd be monkeying around so much with my new phone if Xiaomi didn't make it so damn difficult to install TWRP recovery on their "anti-rollback" roms now. It's impossible to install TWRP using adb now because of the ""FAILED (remote: Anti-rollback check failed)" error and even installing TWRP Recovery through TWRP doesn't seem to work, or at least I can't figure out how to do it (it reboots to stock recovery). Bah. I think we need an updated guide or something.

You need to flash lazyflasher after you flash TWRP within TWRP. So that MIUI won't replace it with its stock recovery every time.

Okay, I finally figured out the problem. I was installing lazyflasher right after installing TWRP Recovery and got no errors, but every guide I've read has been telling me to press both "power" and "volume +" until I see the Mi Logo then release "power" while continuing to press "volume +" until the TWRP recovery screen shows up but every time I did that it would boot right into Android. But on my phone I have to release both buttons as soon as I see the Mi Logo and then it will boot into TWRP. So that was what was stumping me. Now it's all sorted and I just made my first Backup with TWRP so all is golden now
Thanks for all your help.

I have one final question which you might be able to answer: if I wanted to re-lock the bootloader and unroot my device back to factory defaults, I heard I can just flash the MIUI 9.6.3.0 rom over my existing install of MIUI 9.6.3.0. Where would I download the correct rom for that for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (model #: M1803E7SH) for the GSM Unlocked Global version I have?

Download fastboot ROM and flash it using MiFlash, you have to select clean all and lock option to relock bootloader
en.miui.com/a-234.html for fastboot ROM. Latest ROM version is 9.6.4

You might do something wrong on miflash tool. Retry but I never used this
It's possible to flash global on cn if bootloader is unlocked.
BTW why not flashing orangefox twrp and flash miui with it ? Xiaomi.eu or any other modded miui ?

When you flashed global rom with tool you needed to choose option to only wipe data but you chose flash and lock hence stuck in EDL mode now. Need to have someone with permissions remove it but it take you to open back off phone and do test point. I did same thing as you guys and found a guy you got my phone back. It's an easy error to make and it's why phone will go to fastboot when try to boot. You needed to change option. Try unlock bootloader as if flash work it will boot then when bootloader unlocked
If your bootloader is still unlocked then check the version of global rom your flashing as need a fastboot version not recovery
have you solved your issue?

Hi there,
I encountered the same issue. I tried to flash some CN Rom without enough research, without knowing that you can't just flash an Android 10 rom from 9 directly by recovery (even TWRP). So I ended up Fastboot or TWRP but never able to boot into system. Fortunately I didn't flash my Max3 by fastboot rushly, so my phone was still unlocked.
This is how I solved it:
1. Download an official CN ROM (the below I used is MIUI 11 with Android 9.9.x);
I can't post link here but search "miui通过线刷升级" - you shall see a miui.com link ending with shuaji-393.html. That's the page I download the Mi Max3 ROM from.
2. Use MiFlash to flash the official ROM with the flash option "clean all", NOT "clean All and lock";
3. The phone shall reboot into system, give it 5-10 minutes;
4. Flash the miui.eu ROM you like (DO make sure it is Android 9 tho) by recovery (tutorial given under every official xiaomi.eu ROM download).
Again it's easy to search
It took me less than an hour to do it (I don't have much experience with new XiaoMi phone). So don't worry about bricking your phone forever.
Hope it helps to destress

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T - Official MIUI 11 update not available via OTA yet, how flash?

Hi,
I'm using the following version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- Model number: Redmi Note 8T
- Android version: 9 PKQ1.190616.001
- MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.3.1 | Stable 10.3.1.0(PCXEUVF)
- Model name: M1908C3XG
So it's still the official MIUI 10 stock ROM,
the only thing I've changed is that I switched from stock to custom recovery TWRP (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote8.html) and installed a GCam mod (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8/themes/best-gcam-mod-redmi-note-8-t3970675).
If I press the button to check for OTA updates within MIUI it still says no updates available.
However, according to this thread it's possible to download and flash the update to MIUI 11 manually:
https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/
1.) Is my understanding correct that based on my current MIUI 10 ROM,
I have to download and flash the "V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global)" one from those versions mentioned below?:
43. Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- V11.0.2.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXRUXM (Russia) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
2.) Is my understanding correct that this MIUI 11 ROM could be flashed without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
If yes, what would whould be the best approach (via "Recovery ROM" or "Fastboot ROM" method),
and what do I have to select in TWRP for example so that my data doesn't get wiped during the flash?
3.) Once I've flashed this MIUI 11 ROM will it get regular updates via OTA,
or is it a kind of beta version?
Thanks and best regards

judging by the present miui version in your device it's PCXEUVF so you have a european version. You can download the latest recovery rom from here. MIUI 11 EU version will be PCXEUXM. You can flash this rom from twrp. But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost.
In case you want to flash some other version rom like global(PCXMIXM) or russian(PCXRUXM) then you have to download fastboot rom and mi flash from here and flash it with mi flash which will erase your data so make sure you backup your data before flashing.
Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, so as it seems like I'm having a EU version,
based on my understanding I have to select the following MIUI 11 ROM, right?:
V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
Most likely I've already flashed something like "dm-verity" zip ("flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot'),
because I've restarted the Redmi Note 8T several times and TWRP recovery is still available.
So what do I have to select within TWRP to flash this MIUI 11 ROM without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
Thanks and best regards

Yes you have to select the miui 11 rom PCEUXM recovery rom if yo want to flash with twrp.
Now comes the part where you have to consider a few things.
So dm-verity and forceencrypt are different things. Sometimes both features are included in a single zip file. So if your device is decrypted you'll have to go through a lot of troubles. Search for encryption in Phone settings search bar and check if your device is encrypted or not. If your device is encrypted just flash the rom through twrp and everything will work just fine.
However if your device is decrypted then you'll face bootloop into twrp every time you dirty flash/update miui stock. To solve this do any of the following :
1. Flash stock rom though twrp as you do but after that you need to format data or else your phone won't boot.[but all your data will be lost so back it up first]
2. Flash stock mi recovery and then update through updater app.
3. Flash another recovery like orangefox which provides ability to flash miui OTA without any issues. Here's a guide for you how to flash miui using orangefox.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, I've ensured that my Redmi Note 8T shows the status encrypted within the settings first.
Then I've downloaded the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM from the link mentioned below (http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1900375).
I then tried to boot into TWRP recovery, but Redmi-Recovery 3.0 appeared instead.
So it seems like I haven't installed the fix which avoids TWRP recovery to be replaced by the default recovery after a reboot.
So I've just rebooted into MIUI and flashed the downloaded ZIP file of the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM like decribed below:
"But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost."
However, initially this was not working so I had to do the following additional steps (https://www.gizchina.com/2019/10/23/how-to-download-and-install-miui-11-if-it-has-not-yet-arrived/):
"Then, we go again to the ‘About this phone’ section.
And in ‘System update’ we press a few times on the logo until a small temporary warning appears.
Then, click on the three-point menu and choose ‘Select update package’.
We look for the ‘Downloaded_rom’ folder and select the ROM that we have previously downloaded."
(Note: I had to re-install the app Mi File Manager first in order for this to work!).
However, I'm getting the following error message:
"Couldn't verify.
Looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package.
Please download the correct ROM from MIUI forum."
I did a quick research and it seems like my Redmi Note 8T device contains a strange Vodafone branded ROM ("VF" = Vodafone ):
- Anyone with the Vodafone Custom ROM still getting updates ? (REDMI NOTE 8T) [10.3.0.1/PCXEUVF] - Xiaomi:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...one_custom_rom_still_getting/?sort=confidence
- Redmi Note 8T w NFC - Redmi Note 8/Pro/8T - Mi Community - Xiaomi:
https://c.mi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2576031&aid=4944161&from=album&page=1
If I remember correctly I was also wondering why it contains a pre-installed Vodafone app when uninstalling apps/de-bloating the ROM.
Thanks and best regards

Did some searching and found out that you have a vodafone rom that's why there's VF in the end and not XM. I suggest you to switch to XM one using fastboot method via mi flash. After that you'll receive updates as soon as they're released by xiaomi.

Okay, will try to do this.
But this means I will loose the existing data (apps, pictures,...), right?
I hope it will still support B28 after changing from the PCXEUVF to the PCXEUXM ROM?

Yes unfortunately you will lose existing data. Backup all your data before flashing fastboot rom via mi flash. After flashing everything will work just fine

Can't Flash Stock Firmware After Flashing Xiaomi.eu 11.0.9

Recently I unlocked bootloader of my K30 5G. It was my first Xiaomi phone. So, it is hard for me to doing all the advance things. What I did id:
1. Unlocked Bootloader
2. install TWRP using fastboot method (then I just boot into twrp to check if the twrp work or not and twrp was installed & working fine. Then I just booted into fastboot again and then ↓
3. flash the Xiaomi.eu 11.0.9 using fastboot.
4. Everything worked fine.
5. then I just realised that miui 12.5 is now available to install using TWRP.
6. then I try to boot into twrp but my phone just show the boot logo then go black screen & again booted into the system. I was unable to boot into recovery mode.
7. Then I try to install the twrp again using fastboot. it shows successful but when I boot into recovery mode it booting into system not going to recovery mode.
8. Then I tried to go back to my Chinese rom by flashing official fastboot rom using mi flash tool but when I try to do this it says: "antiroll back check error"
so what can I do now? How do I go back to Chinese rom? Or how do I install custom recovery?
Now I stuck in the xiaomi.eu 11.0.9 pls help
Hello,to use MiFlash to flash to stock ROM,you need to delete the part which is used to anti rollback (They do not want users to downgrade ,that may cause flashing failure),the part you should delete I will mark on the picture.Hope that will help you

hey thanks for your reply. Though the K30 5G doesn't have anti roll back protect it shows me anti roll back check error. But then I found a comment on somewhere in Internet, the comment says: the folder in which you place the firmware should not be in other drives. it should be in "C" drive and the name shouldn't contain any special character and space. And the name should be small. Then what I did is:
1. Rename the folders to (1, 2,3 or a, b, c) then I move the firmware folder to "C" drive and flash using mi flash tool and it really worked .. (you may get error message. but don't worry it was success) enjoy
