Muteslider on the side? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi
i was thinking of getting the oneplus 3 and i was wondering if the hardware mute slider on the side is annoying? i really like the idea of having it but i know why the iphone has the slider go horizontal instead of vertical like the oneplus 3 because im assuming it might slide in the pocket?
so my question is, does anybody have the problem of having the slider unmute or mute the phone while sliding it into the pocket or not?
cheers

no, my mother had me tested...

I find it annoying.
When sliding the phone into my pocket, the slider gets knocked up to silent mode or DND and I miss notifications.

Dont wear leggings like a woman and u wont face any issue like that

never had a problem like that and its safe to say that i never will

Hard to believe that somebody actually managed to slide the switch while sliding the phone into the pocket.
For me, it the slider is hard to slide and it is also not protruding outside the body of the phone. Till now I have not had it activating by itself.

No issues here either. It hard to move by itself

Slide down Lock problem(not bugs)

I'm having a problem with the slide down to unlock the phone.
When the phone rang I pull the phone out from my jeans pocket then it accept the phone call automatically because the screen touches my legs during pulling it up the phone unlocks.
Are there any ways to change the way to unlock the screen to the Original android?
I have tried the Lock bot already, but it's laggy and doesn't lock the phone when someone calls .
PS. sorry for my english isn't perfect
I have the exact same problem. Everytime I pull the phone out of its case it answers the call. Its getting very annoying. Is there at least an app to make the lock screen slide sideways to unlock instead of down? Thnx.
It hasn't happened to me yet... but these are the small things that make me wonder what the hell are people at HTC thinking?
Vertical slide for call answering? There are bound to be problems...

So easy... put it standby button down screen pointed at your leg...
Never ever had a call in my pants, but I agree a horizontal lockscreen would make more sense...

try http://www.appbrain.com/app/app.lockenabler
That was superquick. Thanks. I saw it in the market but from the screenshot I thought it is doing something else. Although not locking immediately, but hey, its free and thanks again.
yeah.. it doesnt happen immediately.. its some android security restriction.. i was using that widget for sometime until it started acting up.. my screen used to turn off every 3 seconds even when i was using it normally.. but its working for some ppl just fine..
get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
AutoRotate Switch (On/Off)
Screen off by konreu is really good but it is not free. I've tried lock enabler but it has an irritating habit of randomly setting my screen timeout to 3s.

[Q] IS Rotate Driving you nuts

I always seems to be rotating and un-rotating my screen to get it to turn the way I want it to.
I had trouble with the Note1 with this and thought/hoped this new "smart rotation" camera checking you face position thing would help and I don't really think it helps at all.
It makes me especially nuts when I have my note 2 in Landscape mode in a holder in the car and my GPS software is shown the wrong way ...
I have also noticed that when using multiview that it gets more confusing.
Is this just more or are others not thrilled?
I would love to have a way to have a single button to make it rotate on demand and one then.
(NOT the don't rotate option that exists )
am I missing something basic?
THanks
Allen
I think its just the size of the phone, you try hold it and do stuff in one hand as you're used to, but because you have to hold it weird to get anything done, it rotates when you dont want it to. Only thing you can really do is disable autorotate. It would be good if you could adjust the threshold when to rotate, but of course on the other side of it, people will then say its too slow etc
Can't say this has been an issue for me. Seems to usually be in the correct orientation for what I want.

I know exactly what you mean. That's why I use display orientator. It places an rotate icon anywhere on your screen. So when you hold the phone in landscape. press the icon. and it stays locked in landscape.
When you're done in landscape, and hold your phone in portrait. press the rotate icon again, and it now returns to portrait.
perfect for me. No more flip floping rotating screen unless I want it to rotate.

Thanks - Display Orientator seems to be somewhat helpful.
He anyone seen thgouh any value added in this "smart rotate" in terms of using the camera to see where your face is? I have not found it helpful
I only ever had problems when changing between apps. I turned off the face checking orientation but it didn't conserve any more battery. On stock rom.
Nuts? Like hell, like Woods, like Savimbi. Seriously. I wondered no one had this issue unit I saw this topic. And that Smart Stay is a gimmick I think, I've no idea what it does basically!
I'll try that orientator app. Thanks.
Swyped from my GT-N7100
I don't use Smart Rotate but I do find the phone way too sensitive at turning to landscape. Sometimes the phone is only barely tipped towards that way when placing it down and it rotates.
Any way to adjust at what angle it turns?

Turn off knock on?

Hi guys, does anyone know how to turn off knock on on the G3? Tried looking for it in gestures settings like in the G2 but can't seem to find it. The g3 keeps waking while in my pocket making it feels constantly warm. Anyone else experiencing this? I don't mind just using the button at the back to wake it. The placement for the button is quite comfortable actually.
I'm sorry to hear this is a problem on the g3, I have this problem on the double tap to wake code on my Nexus 5 and so I just turned it off. I know for the galaxy 2, sorry g2, voice dictation, they released firmware fix for this I think

Can you tell me how you did the wake code on the nexus 5?
And to the op, isn't there a setting in the screen gestures section of the phone to turn it off?
You can turn it off in the hidden system settings menu
Dial 3845#*855# to access it.

It is the very last setting in the list, just scroll all the way down to the bottom.
If you have the Korean model replace the 855 with 400
I turned this feature off as it will save battery life too as it needs to keep the screen driver awake happy using the back button.

855 opens my hidden menu. But I still can figure out which option to choose after scrolling down to the bottom. The screen shot shows my menu. Could u let me know which option should I be disabling?

we don't have that functionality by default, it's patched into custom kernels and eats 2-3% battery per hour (another reason I turn it off)
Just so you know, I had issues with Knock On unlocking my phone in my pocket so I turned it upside down and the issue is 100% gone !
I think it's due to the light sensor not being 100% in the dark then the taps on the lap unlocked the phone. When it's upside down the light sensor is kept in the dark
I just can't find that setting... Ive looked everywhere. My phone is rooted with towelroot. Is that the problem?

Is it really the light sensor? I think the proximity sensor would make more sense in this case! Otherwise you wouldn't be able to use the knock on feature in the darkness...
Screen wakes in my pocket whichever way up I put it in and I don't want to have the screen face outwards. This is very annoying and didn't happen on my G2 - The screen is clearly very sensitive. I don't want to turn off knock on and I don't really like knock code.

Same here. Upside up or Upside down makes no difference for me. Display from body away seems to be the only real solution...
Looks like a few of u are experiencing the same problem. I have been facing the screen away from me as a solution but it feels so awkward when I m so used to have the screen face in. And I can't find the hidden settings to turn knock on off. They really hid very well I guess.

sorry, I mean without touching the device or any gestures, they just repeat without any input?

If it's like Moto Display in past models, the notifications stop breathing after a bit until you touch the phone again.
