Is there any for Developer interested in making CopperheadOS port for the Oneplus 3? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

This thread is for discussions related to the topic.
CopperheadOS is an Android OS with focus on security. You can find more Info about CopperheadOS on their website.
https://copperhead.co/android/
I hope there are some developers or people who are interested in this.

I'm not a developer but I do support this! I'd be willing to learn about building from source and seeing if it were possible though. Gotta start somewhere ! 😉

Upcoming Android Device News on the Portal

I understand that this is a developer site and that the portal page is meant to display news for developers or about accomplishments made by developers (developer related news) but why so few updates on upcoming devices? Seems to me that XDA could easily be covering most of the stuff that engadget reports. Just that this is the only thing stopping XDA from being a one stop shop for anything Android related for me. Thoughts?
Lets remember we are not an Android only forum.
News Writers team is focused to bring the best of development inside XDA, but we include some information regarding new devices as well.
In General section you´ll find the hottest info on the latest out there.
Thanks for your suggestion tough, if you read a nice story while surfing XDA please PM us.
This is and always will be a site for developers, pure and simple. Without them we are nothing, without them there would be no reason for XDA Developers to exist; we should never ever forget that. Without them this place would not be called XDA-Developers but something else, e.g Mobile Phone User Support Services For Ungrateful Nerds.
XDA is about developing and is for developers. Any user that recognises that will gain the most benefit from this site.

I understand that. While I would be looking for Android device news I'd also expect there to be Windows mobile and iPhone news as well. It just seems that these news pieces are sometimes as vital to developers as any other news that is published and as you said most of it can already be found somewhere on the forums so it just seems intuitive to publish more of it on the Portal to allow easier access to the information. I certainly see your point, I was just curious.
Developers want to see code. I close the portal tab if i see noobish stuff like "omg omg the new htc xyz is out. Many other devs do the same.
Had it been a dump of firmware for it, that's interesting
But the announcement of yet another sub standard handset is barely newsworthy... I mean, the new WP7 phones are not even dual core

[Device Request} New LG Google TVs

I am hoping we can start an XDA forum for the new LG Google TVs just released which have respectable hardware and android. It is rumored to soon get android 4.2.2 so these new devices might present a new and fun development platform. Right now I'm having trouble finding others out there who are interested in discussing issues with these devices while I continue to imagine lots of fun development projects.
At the very least it will provide a central forum for troubleshooting issues and workarounds with these TVs but I imagine with a little work we can start developing ROMs and such.
Anyone else out there interested? What are the requirements for starting a new device forum?
plz post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354
although innovative its not necessary it will get a respective forum...it depends upon several factors which u will find in the request thread...

Where to start custom rom development?

Hi guys,
I am a Computer Science student currently at university looking to create some roms for my personal use and share for free if anyone is interested, just as a hobby and to gain some experience. I have googled around and found that the only guides I found "require no programming experience", how would I get started as a programmer creating a real custom rom with performance and smoothness tweaks and maybe some extra features later?
Thanks in advance, sorry if it's been asked before, all my searches only returned kitchens for roms, I'm not sure if that's how the professionals do it but I would like to do some actual coding too if possible.
Probably best to PM a Mod and ask him to move your thread to a more appropriate forum.
This is for General questions about Nexus 7 Flo, just saying...
I would learn Android app development first. Vogella is a great free site for this. Actual true custom ROM development requires driver development which is hard. There really aren't true custom Roms out there. Most of them are just modified Samsung or aosp, both of which were developed as a team. I'd recommend hanging out in the Dev irc.

Implementing a Crowdfunding feature

Devoloping mods for Android is quite time consuming.
I just had the idea that xda could implement or cooperate with crowdfunding platforms (e.g. patreon) to give devlopers the option and actively support them to make their hobby into a bit more like that so they could spend more time on their projects and there creating content of higher quality.
I'm thinking of something like this:
A Developer creates a project thread with information on what he wants to develop and stes a specific amount of money which he would need to develop just the mod for a specific amount of time
Users liking the project could spend some money to the dev
If the dev reaches the goal he has the possibility to work only on this project /
If he doesn't reach the goal users could get their money back or could still spend it to the dev and the dev can still work this project but with less time dedicated for it.
Maybe this idea doesn't go along with the principles of xda but IMO it wouldn't change the community spirit and it's worth thought.
Just no. Talk of money in exchange for promises of work is not allowed on xda. See rule 8 here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Any type of fundraising is not allowed on xda actually.
Promoting a paid app or theme is one thing on xda, but even then, a free version must be available to xda members too. And selling Roms or kernels is a hard no.
So no Sir, your idea won't be happening on xda. Sorry.
And thread closed. :good:

Xiaomi cross device development subforum?

Hello dear XDA moderators and admins. First of all thank you for making this great XDA forum available to us.
I have a little question for you guys.
I know there is a Sony cross device development subforum here at XDA which is a wonderful resource for Sony users.
But is there also one for Xiaomi devices?
Considering the fact that Xiaomi releases somewhere around 80 new devices each month, it's easy for valuable information to get lost in all the various little individual Xiaomi subforums. Information that could also be useful to other Xiaomi users that might happen to have a slightly different Xiaomi device and therefore tend to hang out in a different Xiaomi subforum.
Wouldn't such a Xiaomi cross device development subforum be a great place for all Xiaomi users and developers to be able to communicate with each other and answer questions related to ROM development and other questions regaring Xiaomi devices?
Could you please create such a Xiaomi cross device development subforum? Thank you so much!
