Suggest Rom for Android 7.1 ? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
can you pls suggest some roms on android 7.1 ?
i am loking for roms that have good battery life, easy updateable and have some good features
waiting for your answers, peace...

AICP has OTA updates, doesn't get much easier than that. Resurrection Remix has a LOT of features but no OTA, and video recording doesn't work. Both are 7.1 I believe. I'm sure there are others, but these were the first ones that came to mind.

crDroid is good but after awhile I started getting some random behavior, random reboots when about to answer a call, physical buttons not responding and double clicking. Maybe it was just my phone but I would tell you stick to MM. N is good if you want to flaunt the latest and greatest for a week or two then come back to stable.

Yeah, I had problems with random reboots and even turnoffs with crDroid. I thought I could live with it until there was a fix but ended up changing ROMs because of it. I need to be able to depend on at least being stable enough to be turned on and receive a call if I happen to get one (I was traveling over the holiday and didn't want to miss a ride from the airport because my phone didn't ring due to a random reboot).
I was on Resurrection Remix last week and have been happy with it so far. Normally no video recording wouldn't be a deal breaker, but this weekend is my daughter's 3rd birthday so I had to switch ROMs to get that back :/

Yep, that's one of the two I mentioned.

Is wifi rock stable on any of them? Or are there still wifi bugs?

has any of you checked video recording with footej/open/snap camera? or Google Camera version 4.2 or earlier?

I had no problem with WiFi on either rom. I tried the current version of Google camera on Resurrection Remix but video recording still didn't work. I believe it already came with snap, which didn't work. Video recording worked fine on AICP.

You aren't on a D855 though are you? Would you say AICP was the most stable?

No I'm on vs985. I wasn't on AICP for very long because Resurrection Remix became available shortly after I first flashed AICP, but while I was on it I didn't have any issues. Since AICP has nightly builds, I would think it might be more prone to having some issues, but then again it would also be more likely that issues would get fixed quicker (compared to a rom with weekly+ builds).

i have just tried AICP-Beanstalk-CrDroid-Mokee-ResurrectionRemix-XenonHD
experienced at least 10 mins on every roms
According to my short impressions, i would say ResurrectionRemix is better than others, it has more features and settings. others are just pure Android 7 no changes or similar
My order is:
Winner = ResurrectionRemix
Second = CrDroid
Third = AICP

That's not entirely true, maybe you didn't have enough time to find all the AICP settings. Never seen some of those tweaks on any rom before. What is your model number? CrDroid is probably the least stable of those 3.

i believe none yet, because all 7.0/7.1 roms based on Cynagenmod and Cynagenmod provides root so no non-root roms availible yet
maybe you now that but there is fulmics 6.7 and it give us 2 options when we attemp to flast the rom . systemless-root and normal root that we know
if you want to play po-go use systemless-root but it is based android 6 not 7
and last advice there is some ways to hide root from apps on rooted devices, make some searches

Cm14.1

[Suggestion] Stable ROM for Xperia S 4.4?

Hei guys,
Most probably this question has been asked already, but since then more updates had been followed.
I'm running a FreeXperia 4.1.2 ROM on my Xperia S, and I would like to change to a newer version (preferable 4.4.x) that is fitting a day-by-day use. What would you recommend me?

If You want extremely stable, go for Mokee. We still have official support from it. Second most stable according to Me is Carbon, but it has less frequent updates.
mokee?
Don't u have force closes ?
I think crDROID is most stable if your looking for KitKat rom
Never-ever use CrDroid for daily-use, it's kinda nice rom although you'll get alot (well, a few but still) of random reboots, it has very much customization options but with cost of stability.
Carbon Rom was quite nice 4.4.4 but the battery lasts half day with it...so it's also bad idea to use it.
I also used AOSPX, Paranoid, CM 11 and Mokee but can't say much about them because they were on my XS only for a few minutes - didn't liked any of them but I've heard much good things about AOSPX so you can try that one.
Otherwise I don't recommend any 4.4 roms, better stick to 4.1
I would recommend using PA or Carbon, both are stable ROMs of 4.4.4 for Xperia S. Carbon has more customization than PA, but PA is like semi-lollipop. Both give you 721 MB of RAM against 621 MB of stock JB.

AOSPX works very well. Only problem is you can't use your phone for calling. Oops.
Call volume does not do anything AND the other end can't hear you. So if you don't want to talk with anyone it's afine rom

Good for you but it doesn't do much for me.
And for the record, I just had to completely wipe my XS so it's not likely that either.
I guess I'll give PA a shot and if it won't work, I'll go back to 4.1. I'n any case I'm just using the phone as for a 2nd sim card to pick up calls and little else. Stock rom has this aggravating bug with PIN codes where the android phone will keep on crashing, so..
The best overall rom so far
For me the smoothest, fastest and most stable is the carbon rom build 20140808-1848
Also customization options available... try it you wont regret it...
I experienced crdroid, it's a great rom but has some bugs and reboots a few times in a day. I have been using CARBON rom (20141103 build) for 3 weeks, and I'm very happy with it. It's very stable for me.
Well, Paranoid android v4.4.4 also had the same very low voice problem in-call. At least the other guys can hear ME but I can't really hear THEM. I also grabbed the low voice fix and installed it but it didn't help.
I think I'll check the OpenSEMC-U 10.1 now, lots of people seem to like it. (that's 4.2)
Nope, same problem. 4.2.2 CM10.1 has very very low volume in-call as well. And, yes, I did wipe, install new kernel blah bloody blah blah.
*sigh* I guess it's back to the official "android phone has stopped" firmware :crying:
Try LP nAOSP or AOSP, they are better then 4.4

Best ROM for stability

I've been running CM since about March this year, still have numerous glitches
Random reboots, lag, newest problem is a loud continious noise from the speaker that requires me to reboot the phone
Im considering a full wipe and reinstall of the latest version of CM12.1
Coming from a Nexus device, I hoped CM on my G3 would be 'stable' now, and pretty bug free, its still annying having to play with CPU governors etc. CM keeps getting changes, but I see very little change on my phone. I would rather efforts went into fixing these bugs than new features.
Can anyone recommend the any particular ROMs ? Dont want to go away from CM, but its driving me crazy now!

Stock. Custom ROMs are cancer and will be (atleast for G3).

Ill check out some of those. Dont really like LG's stock ROM though. Traditionally first thing with a new phone is to wipe it and install CM
you can try xenonHD or telsa,
I am with CloudyG3 2.5 but I would to try an AOSP ROM, which one do you recommend for daily use (stable and fast). I know that one of the main weaknesses is the poor quality of the camera...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-euphoria-os-1-0-t3048515
You can try this rom
As stock rom, clear cloudy 2.5 was stable and as far as aosp roms, xenonhd is the best for me as a daily driver, or euphoria 1.1 but this one had some problems at least for me.

Stable ROM?

I have a Find 7s and am having issues with Black Screens Of Death / random reboots whichever ROM I try. As others have these issues on various ROMs, I'm assuming for now it's not a unique hardware fault. I can't recall the issue under ColorOS (but I didn't have that too long). Nameless (Lollipop) was the first ROM I tried and gave BSODs too pften. Went to AOSP and that suffered from, random reboots. Trying Omnirom but that gives BSODs - seems to occur as randomly as the AOSP issue but indtead of rebooting, the phone freezes - no good if I want to ensure I wake up in the morning!
Does anyone who's suffered similarly have a ROM recommendation that eliminates the issue? I don't want to go back to ColorOS but it seems I may have to if that's the only answer.
I had the same problem with Nameless, and immediately switched to CRDroid. I'd recommend trying that!
Also, use the package found here if your phone doesn't go into deep sleep. Using any other modem/firmware package tends to make my phone not go into deep sleep at all.
You can try MIUI 7 for Find 7, get the Wuxianlin version.
Thanks both - had tried crDroid but had issues restoring Titanium Backup (I think I saw a fix for that since) so tried Oppo's Project Spectrum AOSP build (too many teerhing problems) and OMNIROM 6.0 (a few BSODs but not at all bad). Stickung with the latter for now but will research MIUI certainly and may retry crDroid. How do I know which LCD panel version I have without flashing ColorOS BTW?

I'm on MIUI as the daily driver, so you don't have to research anymore. Highly recommend it
Not sure what you mean by teething problems with project spectrum beta release. It is a very stable release, no bsods whatsoever and has maxx audio and a couple of screen off gestures built in. Flashed it last week and it has been great. Great battery life too.

Thanks for the reassurences - many in the thread are having issues so I may hold off until the next patched release. As for MIUI, I'd probably have given it a shot but the benefits of Marshmallow have led me to put up with the odd BSOD on OmniROM 6.0 for now - I'd certaonly be temptrd by a Marshmallow basrd version. It appeats my new LCD panel Find 7 suffers the same BSOD issue as many with this model are expetiencing - presumably a ketnel issue that is evidently very difficult to track down.

I retried the latest build of crDroid (Dec 4th Marshmallow) and it now works, so I'm very happily using it. No BSODs or reboots in two days so far, already an improvement over Omnirom, Nameless, CyanogenMod and AOSP. Think I'll be sticking with this one! Kudos to the devs.
An update - sadly a few reboots but at least it reboots rather than freezing as OmniROM did. As it's hapoening to others, I assume it's not a hardware issue. I see Official CM13 is out but appears not to support LVM so I'll stick with crDroid for now.

@SleepingTreeBear As far as i understood from your previous posts you have the new LCD panel R63419.
So how did you manage to get the crDroid ROM working for you, knowing that it doesn't support this new LCD panel.
I have the same BSOD issue, and with the new LCD panel i don't have thaht much choice, i can use either Spectrum or Omnirom, and both have random reboots or BSOD.
Any help !

If crDroid is working well on your find7 that means that you don't have the s***ty new LCD . Only OmniROM managed to support this new LCD
So congrats, you can enjoy any ROM. (not me... )
Reboots in crDroid have become more frequent so keeping an eye on the Nameless Marshmallow progress as (aside fron the last coupple of builds) people were enjoying few or no BSODs so once past the experimental stage that ROM could be worth a road test.

Which Rom to go for, Tab Pro8.4 ?

Hi,
There's a multitude of roms available for the tab pro8.4.
As someone who's not particularly tech minded which would be the best to go for to give my tablet a new lease of life with the minimum of bugs ?
Cheers
I would suggest CM 12.1. It was Lollipop, but still batter than stock (Kit-kat). It has stable releases (CM is down, but you should still be able to find a download somewhere on the Internet). There are newer LOS builds, but that's only nightly builds, and the ones I tried are not very stable.
I've tried 2 roms,vu-vu-2.0 and slim6 and both have failed to install because of signature verification failure.
What am I doing wrong ?
I am using the Resurrection remix, by rnwalker. Version Nougat 7.1.2_r2 - N2G47E, from 24th April. It is running smooth without crashes or bugs, but I don't have Gapps installed.

I'm assuming the camera doesn't work as per all Nougat roms ?
I managed to instal Slim6 in the end,it's pretty good and very stable, better than stock battery life
I've been enjoying Slim6. Great battery life, and has been pretty stable for me:
https://slimroms.org/#/device/mondrianwifi
i am also running slim 6 . pretty stable and bugless
I'm have the odd issue with charging. I'm using a fast charger that came with my phone,2 amp I think.
Obviously it only works as a standard slow charger with the tab pro but it never reaches 100% unless I switch it off briefly
Yesterday I installed AICP 6.0.1 unofficial from August last year (after cfautoroot & latest twrp 3.1.1 for the 8.4). Was going back and forth between latest nougat cm and this one, really like some of aicp features and have different levels of it running on other devices.
Seems to run fine except for 3d rendering in a game I play, Star Trek Timelines. That game ran fine on the old original kitkat but is very choppy on this rom. Turning on forced 4x msaa in opengl es 2.0 apps dev option seemed to help a little. Anything else I should try?
Thanks!
Switched to latest Nougat Resurrection Remix (5.8.3) for the Tab Pro 8.4, running great! All options that AICP has, and then some. Enjoying some extended life for the Tab Pro.
Still having 3D stutters in ST Timelines, though.
I went with Slim6 and have been using it for a few months.I found it quite laggy so have just switched to the latest Lineage nightly and it's like chalk and cheese.
Can't comment on it's stability but it's so much more responsive,it's given my tab a new leese of life, thanks
I've switched from Slim 6 to Lineage 13 and what a difference.
Slim used to lag and stutter but Lineage is in a different league. The camera is rubbish mind so I've installed Open camera.......focussing appears to be an issue but as I rarely use the camera I'm not bothered.
Good work on the O/S though

Question Best custom rom

Hey,
I have a Poco F3, I unlocked the bootloader recently, and I want to know which ROM should I get or is the best for you. I tried xiaomi.eu, but I prefer AOSP/pixel (I tried some, but I can't make a choice). What is the best, I know for now there is crDroid, Pixel Experience Plus but unofficial, Pixel Extended, etc Should I wait for more stable, official or new custom ROMS ?
What are the pro/cons or features of each ?
|
|
Edit : anyone can share his opinion here and/or ask on this thread

Thanks in advance !
In terms of features you can't get more feature rich then crdroid. Most ROMs are rock stable and the one main missing feature dt2w is going to be coming in the next week or so. I'm currently using pixel extended and I've had no problem and am thoroughly enjoying it

Running Lineage on mine, with Quantic kernel, Micro-g, I am getting insane battery life, This phone has been an amazing upgrade for me after being on Mi6 for over 3 years.
for a beta Build, I have yet to run into a single issue, everything is running smoothly.
I have the feeling this phone will receive lots of love from developers and will have custom roms for years to come.
Edit: on my build I have finally fixed battery drain when, double tap, ambient pick-up, or AOD is enabled, it makes no difference, my phone dozes beautifully at night. How is it with other ROMs?
The key for me and everyone i think is the kernel, no matter what I changed with the original kernel that comes with lineage the phone gets no doze, only when I use Quantic + Lineage everything is 100%.

Did you flash the kernel only via TWRP or is it TWRP and fastboot dtbo?
Also, have you had issues surrounding running apps like Google Maps or Kodi? They install and boot up but crash seconds later.
best currently MIUI BASED rom? ive tried miui.eu but ive found some bugs.
