[Q&A] CyanogenMod [User Support] - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is the place for Q&A, general discussions, and pre-/post-installation chat about my CyanogenMod builds. Please keep the development thread clean and post here all your personal issues that are not related to the development such as Xposed, themes, extra mods, other stuff, ... etc. Thanks in advance!

do you have a bad audio registration in whatsapp such as in registrator app? SM-910F with latest test build... Thank u!

purpose or benefit of A.R.I.S.E.?
I've gathered that A.R.I.S.E. is some kind of fancy sound package, but I'm unclear on whether/why I'd need it... I'm not an audiophile when it comes to my phone, so is there any reason for me to install this package? What benefit would I get by installing it that I wouldn't get by not having it on my phone?

It does a few other things like apply a carrier designation, change boot ani and such, haven't used it since 1.3 so I'm not sure what the current iteration includes (the zip has doubled in size since then), but it is a handy way to install Viper4Android. No, you don't need it, but then again do you really need a phone? Probably not. It is a nice why to tweak the audio though. I've tried installing Viper in other ROMs and found it so frustrating I usually gave up. This does it easy peasy, so why not use it?

sure, I get that, but it's still hard to pin down exactly what benefits viper4android provides. If you were trying to sell someone on it, what would you say to convince them it was worth the effort? Little bits of possibilities I've gathered are support for some dolby formats (like atmos), some audio processing to artificially produce stuff like 3d sound, etc.

Pixel Experience added 116MB from v1.5b
Viper4Arise added 12MB from 1.5b
Pixel is a big deal.. Its not just adding the Launcher.. its adding wallpaper, sounds, phone dialer app, messaging app, and google assistant.
I totally agree its a big package but I like it and want to give other people options.

It really has to do with the effects that Viper has.. its can enhance the audio... advanced EQ.. filters.. booster.. etc.. Its all in your personal preferences.. I prefer the best sound possible.. and I like to give others options to enjoy it too.

I installed 26/11 on my 910F i'd like to ask simple question when there will be new update like the next one with huge changelog, can i just simply flash it on top of it? Or how do i need to clean install everything?

the developer of the Roms said me to do a clean flash if i come from a test build to another one/stable one...but dirty flash i suppose isn't going to give you problems..just wipe cache/dalvik and see what happens..

The phone app is crashing

Any mod for apps not to pause while multitasking? Like games ect?
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app

12.6.2016
New build is up!
.....
....
...
and new build is down....

In the Google Phone app, it looks like there's a SIM card icon on each of the calls made. It also happens that when I toggle Bluetooth off/on, it will clear the call history.
Is there a setting to store the call history in-app, or on-device rather than SIM card so I can try the Bluetooth bug that way?

New build black screens on boot for W8. will revert to 26th build

Have you actually tried the ROM itself ? Just curious, it seems interesting and I may give it a try.
Otherwise sorry but can not help with the apk.
LL13-
No, I have not tried this ROM, since I've had this phone for 2 weeks only. I usually wait a few months before flashing a custom rom. ATX advanced settings are what I'm only curious about in that rom, because it has an ability to disable the huawei lockscreen and use the AOSP one instead.

Thx for new update
Factory reset, clean install , everything works great it seems, but not security center, vwhen setting apps to startup, eg. Apex, kernel tweaker, sidebar, etc. Nothing get granted super user at boot, even though super su 2..16 is updated, and su working fine else! ?
Tried copy su xbin to bin like before but makes no difference, nothing starts up?
But it's definiatly smoother and faster overall, than previous version
Any idea what to do about autostart?
Nice job The new rights management allow unified partition?
Thanks a lot for sharing. Found few bugs.
1) Not able to change the lockscreen wallpaper
2)double tapping on the home button to lock the screen doesnt work.
3)not able to use the blur effect on the home screen wallpaper
Liked the new camera app, it looks cool waiting for a bug free version
Would the camera app from this work on the international 4.4 rom?
If yes, then could someone post the apk? I would love to try it out. Thanks.

Off course not, none would be on cos, if camera/maxaudio just was a copy apk to system/app/folder. ..sorry bro!
But try yourself, dl zip copy it from system/app folder to your own system and see !
Will test this later. I tested the other repack on OPPO forum but there were 3 issues.
Supersu don't work.. Need kinguser
Need to add prefix to telephone number for sms to be recognized
Switchr app doesn't work!
With this one I had endless FC's of Google Play Services...did two clean installs always ended in FC-loop. With the other repack from Oppo forum SuperSU works for me, didn't flash Kingroot.
Tested. Switchr not working.... Reverted back to v1.1.

I guess the pa gaaps nano is not compatible with chinese kitkat Cos. I will test if the google apks from Cos kitkat international if it will work.
1. "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped" - I can't make calls with this repack (X9006). (If you have this problem you can make calls via the Contacts app or a different Dial app)
2. Camera - The only mode available for me is Normal, when I click Add only a blank Plugin Playstore window opens up - I can't download any other modes...
-------- SOLVED: Install APKs from this post: http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/coloros-kitkat-ota-33-gapps-11-01.22048/page-5#post-292285
-------- or go to system/reserve and install the apk files from there..
3. Camera - Voice Shot is not working
4. Google Location service and GPS causes "Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped" error message to appear over and over again - it literally blocks you from doing anything with the phone.
5. Security Center - App Encryption is not working - if you encrypt/decrypt any app it does not get saved - it stays encrypted or not encrypted.
6. YouTube is bugged - you cannot play any video

FAQ
Q: How can I donate?
A: Thank you for any of your generosity! I will add you to the "Donation Appreciation" list in the post above this (unless you ask me not to). Please leave your XDA name when you donate in a note, or simply send me a PM, or post in the thread letting me know so I can thank you.

Q: What should I do if I come across an issue?
A: If you think you have found a bug, please do a clean full wipe, and make sure you are on the latest version of the ROM and MOD Pack by checking the MD5 Checksum
Q: Can I update system apps without needing to clean flash the ROM?
A: Yes. But it requires some trickery. With Android 5.1 and up I can no longer put out a patch so you can just dirty flash the apps in the the system, like could on previous versions. If you don't want to clean flash the ROM but still want to move the apps into system/app follow this process.
Take the update in the Playstore. Then go into data/app using something like Root Explorer, and find that new app you downloaded. For example Maps. It will be in a folder, and it will be called base.apk. Now, cut the base.apk and the lib folder (if there is one), then go into system/app or system priv/app depending where the app is, in system, and find the Maps folder, delete the old Maps.apk and lib folder and paste the new one in from data/app and rename base.apk to what the name of the app was, for this example, Maps.apk. Now for the trickery. Go back to the Playstore and uninstall Maps. Reboot the phone and you should now have the app back into System.
Q: I have a question, what should I do?
A: Please read the first (3) three posts of this threads OP as it has important information. Then try and do a search of this thread to see if the question has already been asked (usually it has), and also read some recent posts (I don't expect you to read the entire thread, but searching basically does that for you). After you have searched and read some of the latest posts, then please proceed with your question.
Q: Do you have constant apps uploading upon reboot? Do you have multiple folders in data/app?
A: Read this post, please
nice!!
Nice dude! Let me know when you get everything working, maybe we can get Greyyy Inversion over to the M9.

Hell yea bro!
Many thanks as always!
This is a very beta early release, not much going on, but it'll get there!
Hi thanks for the almighty Fluent ROM to the M9! Just flashed it and getting the vzw login error, will this be an issue or is there something we can do to prevent the popups if it is? I see a temporary fix here. Thanks again :good:

please read the OP.... posted this under bugs..
and yes you can remove that app to stop the F/C if you don't need the Verizon login stuff.
as for the F/C and using the login apps, like myverizon I haven't tested. It will only F/C on boot as per the OP. but again, feel free to remove the app.

If you root uninstall Verizon login & Verizon location, then reinstall Verizon login from playstore, it works.
---------- Post added at 08:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:31 AM ----------
Is it odd I have to turn off adb in order to see my file system on my PC?

Its the kernel. Still working bon that. If u made a stock nandroid u can restore just the boot from recovery.
Can you upload those Verizon apps u downloaded from play store plesse and thank you
Thanks Andy !
OK here is the verizon login apk, it is older, from may 2013 on play store. But it seems to work. I just installed elementalX from the the other forum, and the adb thing has went away. The rom is flawless at this point.
However, with the modpack, the only 2 mods i have tried, (APM & Battery %) are a little wonky. The APM wont reboot, or go to recovery. It hangs on HTC Screen shutdown. The battery % mod doesnt display the same value as the percentage that is enabled in the power menu, like 8-9% different.
Also, (note to others), make sure system & data are mounted in TWRP prior to flashing the modpack, or it will complain about not being able to mount data or system prior to flashing mods. I dont know if it matters in the long run, (the mods installed for me), but its one less angry message to read while doing things.

ahh forgot to mention about APM.
dont use recovery.
everything else will work.
to get to recovery, use APM and select bootloader, then get to recovery from their.
yea i need to edit the updater script in the mod pack, for now either ignore the error msg, don't flash it, or do what you said, and mount system and data.
right now it's a very early release of the mod pack, most things arent working, but it is nice to have the back to kill and apm option. eventually ill clean it up but time is very limited ATM.
many thanks for all the feedback!

I actually meant where is it located on the phone so I can pull it from my M8 to try with my M9. I have looked and can't find it using root explorer.

Great to see you over here, now. Since I'm still on a test M9, I'm usually a few versions ahead of what's out there, so I am running proprietary diagnostic stuff, but looking forward to returning to Fluent as soon as the testing is done. And every time I revert to my M8 I remember how much I enjoy your work.
Andy Fluent has been running good for me, but for some odd reason there are some system app that I cant get removed. And they are garbage ones that are not needed, for example slacker radio.
I have tried rom toolbox lite and even quite a few others and even freezing then rebooting and trying again. I did manage to get rid of a bunch of them such as all the amazon crap, but quite a few dont seem to want to be ditched.
I"am pretty conservative on what ones I get rid of also, and having run Fluent on my m8 with the m9 sense 7 port since day 1 I pretty much know for sure what you can get rid of and what you cant.
Some others I cant get rid of are google +, htc dot view, the htc mail, htc messages, street view, talkback, twitter for htc sense, and a few verizon ones I dont need because this m9 is on straight talk and not verizon post paid so I dont need verizon location agent, vz navigator, and visual voice mail. I managed to get rid of verizon login but was a pain.
And I know these can be removed as I originally used the big V and there were options in the aroma installer to uninstall them.
Just using more memory now than I was on the other rom. Looking to get the bloat ditched because I plan on being on Fluent for the long haul as I"am happy to have my daily driver back.
I kept saying to Dottat I was waiting and hoping for some Fluent Bling for my m9 lol, and I was download number 11 lol.
Thanks for serving up us m9 guys some Fluent goodness !!!!!!!!!!!

After flashing this it causes an error message that says "All in One downloader has stopped working" and I can't figure out how to get Verizon login from the playstore. I know I am making this more difficult than what it is but I just can't figure it out lol. Sorry.
***Edit actually what I meant is after deleting the Verizon login file then rebooting it still says Verizon login is installed in the Playstore.

Update : Now the setperm_perm error wont persist . And the setupwizard wont showup.its not the error .
Change or remove these lines from build.prop
Code:
ro.setupwizard.enterprise_mode=1
ro.setupwizard.network_required=false
ro.setupwizard.gservices_delay=-1

we have gapps inbuilt.
issue might be due to the launcher startup , in the latest build i added Xperia Home launcher to check the compatibility. After first boot u can use buildin pixel launcher by default.

[ROM][9.0][SM-G975F] Project Pixel 1.0 [ASF3][24/07/2019]

Project Pixel P1.0
What is Project Pixel?
Project Pixel is a small team of developers that work on porting most, if not all of the Google Pixel features to stock firmwares.
We mostly specialize in Stock Samsung Firmwares, although we may do work on ports of OneUi once in a while. Our objective is to deliver the best performance by using stock firmware whilst also improving upon it by debloating and tweaking whilst also giving you all the features of a Pixel device.
Pixel Pie 1.0 Feature List:1. AdAway
2. Deep Debloat and DeKnoxed (Apps, permissions, framework, unnecessary features-stripped and removed)
3. Dolby Atmos with Correct Tuning and Gain (Main Speaker has most power and Earpiece just adds detail and treble)
4. Eleven Music (Lineage OS 15.1)
5. Files GO (File Manager)
6. GCam (Note: GCam might not work on all devices, because of hardware compatibility) Version is 6.0
7. Google Calculator
8. Google Calendar
9. Google Chrome
10. Google Clock
11. Google Contacts
12. Google Keep (With Handwriting Libs)
13. Google Lens (Works within Google Photos and Recents in Pixel Launcher)
14. Google Messages
15. GPay (Working Payment Method along with NFC functionality)
16. Google Phone
17. Google Pie Emojis (Not Samsung Ones)
18. Google Play Games
19. Google Tasks
20. GBoard
21. Mtweaks (Has Hardware Control - Similar to Kernel Adiutor but more tailored to Exynos)
22. Pixel Fonts
23. Pixel 3 Boot Animation
24. Pixel 3 Live Wallpapers with Normal Wallpapers
25. Pixel Google Photos (Free Original Quality Storage)
26. Pixel Module V1 - Pixel Animations, framework and configs.
27. Pixel Launcher with new recent menu
28. Pixel Sounds
29. Samsung Digital Wellbeing
30. Samsung App Lock
31. Samsung Gallery (Stripped Down and lightened to improve performance)
32. Samsung's Stock Camera with HDR parameter changes, debloated and additional video modes (4k30 at HDR- Not Fully Tested)
33. SystemUI Tuner (Provides battery stats along with other useful customiztions - Check QS icons and add it to QS Panel to view)
34. VoLTE Supported
35. YouTube Vanced (Ad-free Youtube)
CHANGELOG 1.0:
initial release
Bugs:
None
Notes:
1. To view Battery Stats and Storage, pull down the Quick Settings Panel and on the top right click the three bubbles button and then Button Order. Then move the new Battery and Storage icon to the Quick Settings.
2. Make sure you set Google Phone as your default phone app. Go-to Settings/Apps. Click the three dots in the top right corner. Then click default apps. Then Calling App and select Phone.
3. After first boot, reboot your device once to ensure dalvik optimization.
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
- As the ROM zip doesn't contain any kernel, is mandatory to have the linked TWRP installed. (Please flash the correct ones)
- For people coming from other ROM than stock, please do a clean flash
- Copy the ROM zip to your phone
- Boot in TWRP and flash the ROM zip
- After flashing the ROM zip, goto Reboot --> Recovery
- Wait for the boot up (5-7 minutes) and setup your ROM to your liking.
- Don't try to update magisk or you'll get a bootloop. If you just tried and got bootloop, reflash the twrp patched with stable 19.3 magisk (link above).

I'm really sorry mate. The pixel ROM on the S10 is based on BRv4 and has the mod, but this ROM isn't based on it.
It therefore doesn't have the mod included.
Again, I'm really sorry dude.
Regards,
Nathan

There are extension ribbons available but if you manage to somehow fit SIM along with the SD card that should work too.
reserved when i finally root my phone
my s10+ experience right now really sucks
I always thinking how does dual sim + sd card mod works? Mind to tell me how it works actually?
