Can someone help me with rooting my android philips tv? model QM164E,
I tried everery root app, and sometimes it works for a couple of minutes but than restarts my tv and resests the factory settings.
know my question is, is it possible to?
*unlock the bootloader with adb and flash something (wireless because you can't connect the tv with a cable to pc)?
*or instal a custom recovery ?
*or flash custom recovery or supersu with your phone ( i can connect my phone with usb cable) my phone is rooted and framework is working?
*or is there a zip file that i can use in the standard recovery with aply update from usb , (needs verifaction)?
*is there a key combination for starting the bootloader?
*or is there another rom that i can use on my philips tv , example that from a sony android tv.
if nobody has a solution for me i think i destroy my tv and buy a nexus box.
i would be verry thankfull if someone helps me because i get insane about it.

Hello guys, as you can see in the title I have a problem with my non-rooted HTC desire 820 running on stock rom (updated to 6.0.1 Marshmallow) , my phone can't seem to recognize my xbox 360 wired controller.
I know that the phone is OTG compatible(I can't attach photos because I'm a new user ), but USB OTG Checker shows that phone is compatible, and the controller as pluged in ,USB Host Diagnostics says(All yes except Rooted API and this -> ): "Kernel Claims support:YES / Device detected: No / Verdict OS,3rd party apps No/NO " . My wireless mouse and keyboard are working when connected(same for the usb stick). Xbox controller works on another Marshamallow android device with the same OTG cable. I updated kernel ,but with no solution , i can't seem to figure it out. If you guys can offer any support , I'll be thankful. I have to mention that I would like to exclude rooting because my warranty can be void.
Hi, you can't do anything without rooting because stock rom doesn't has x360 controller drivers installed and if you want to install it you must have root privileges

firetv 1 st gen was Birked only white amazon logo . ( in the past i used keyboard and manage to factory reset ) but not with this firetv .
i manage using fast boot to instal recovery .
now i can use the keyboard to have access to recovery menu
i can connect using adb .
i pushed many roms and fallow installation from scared
i get update or installation from scared complete . but with red kernel: not dispatched
when i reboot i get only white amazon logo hunging .
i do not care about rooting all i want is bring my amazon to boot again normally
please how i do .

If you install kingroot on a Windows PC and then plug that into the Amazon device.
If you set kingroot to automatically root your Amazon device it should automatically reinstall the factory image if it fails to root it for you.
This is how I unbricked a fire TV stick. I understand that this is a full fire TV, however if you are stuck what have you got to lose.
Alternatively if you have installed TWRP, then you should be able to mount external devices and install the factory image from there yourself...

hi bro
i hav now fire stick that don't update it stuck om update screen and go no further can not allow me to get to registration .
i tried to use king root but the pc dod not recognize the fire stick so the process did not happen how to do it thx
can not connect to adb or anything but can connect to a wifi
Sorry for the late reply on this, I only just saw it when I installed xda labs.
Firstly use Windows 7 or 10, which version did you use? Secondly you will need to follow the respective instructions to install kingroot. For instance Windows does not come with complete USB drivers and needs to install Android drivers for each device. You can get round part of this by installing the Android SDK which includes a repository of most drivers. Test it is working first with a phone or tablet.
I assume you have the internet enabled on both the windows device and fire TV stick? You will probably also need to ignore any false positives from virus guard software during the process and temporarily (keep it safe by avoiding doing anything else on the internet!) Turning off your firewall.
Finally kingroot has many fake copies floating around! Only follow genuine threads from xda. (I would give a link but have noticed they change from time to time because of the nature of these apps).
I have successfully un-softbricked both my fire TV sticks using this process. Good luck!
I've got a first gen fire tv box with a remote that doesn't want to detect the remote. and being as it wont let me pass the setup im looking for any fix for this ? Im still able to access the stock recovery so is their any ota's i can flash ? or any other method to root the box without being in the system ?

Dumb question but did you put the remote in pairing mode when you are trying to connect? You can always connect a keyboard to navigate through the set up. As for rooting, you should check AFTVnews for guides if you are on a rootable software version.
Hey I just got a gen2 firestick from a friend and it didn't come with a remote is there any way to set it up without remote I have a gen 1 firestick I use the remote app on it but can't connect with the new one due to it not being set up Any suggestions
Adb probably isn't enabled, is it?
My Fire TV stick 2 suddenly refused to recognize my remote but I could send a few key presses via adb and suddenly the remote worked again.
TCL dont want to help fix this issues when i contact them with this issues they just tell me buy a TV frome another brand if am not happy with TCL.
This issues was direclty out of box never rooted it, so this problie is becouse of a systemapp some is pre-installed had not this issues with my old 2017 TCL Android TV.
And i dont get any help frome TCL for get the adb and stuff i need to try fix this on a TV, on a phone feels like mutch easer becouse i have cabel everything but they dosent relly even send with a cabel on a TV for do some adb.
So i think ask here see if i can get help frome the communty to fix this.
can you actually go in recovery mode? hold power button on the TV for a bit (led starts blinking).
edit: btw i managed to root my ep680 (android 9) and i never got something like that...

Has ben doing a recovery reset of the TV with a new download file frome tcl webpages, and used the powerbutton on the TV for flash the OS frome scratch again.
The only thing its was going was to create a dubbel device into my Google Play Device list, after that was finnish noting mutch else happens.

Will try it, becouse this fil i have frome TCL webpages only is V8-R851T02-LF1V179, this look like to be 187 returning back after trying it.
Edit: done the update now still the same issues.
wow thats strange... because this is a different update file > deletes everything (factory restore image)
i guess the only thing you can do is debug via serial cable....

Have order one, get it on like 16th, its still far away. But am return when am get the cabel.

First of all. Can you even go in the Engineering Menu? Settings > Picture > Advanced Settings > Brightness Settings > Contrast (just be there) and Press 1950 on the Remote

I can not anymore am just pack it down and send it back to the retailers, was feeling like easer go buy me a Sony ZG9 and skip all the issues, at the same time am upgraded frome a 4K to a 8K TV.

Hello, can you tell us how to root tcl ep680?
When I press and hold power it enter briefly in a screen with a dead android - no command , and after that it continues booting.
you need a hdmi to uart cable.
if you need more infos just ask
I have only usb to usb cable , I can enter in service menu , and I have acces via adb-wifi. My tv is 55ep660 but it look very similar as platform it is also rt2851.
i'm pretty sure there is "Service Port" written on your HDMI 2 Port ?
USB Cable won't work at all. Trust me.

you need to make a cable (urself, there is none to buy on the internet) with the shematics in the picture.
to communicate with the tv u need either a raspberry pi (or clone) or a usb to serial device with a ftdi chip.
i highly recommand a raspberry pi.
so the best way is to get a hdmi breakout board from amazon. (see picture)
then you can access a root shell via recovery and modify the system. but first you need to disable SELinux and AVB.
Disable AVB took me forever to figure out. Because if it's enabled all changes will be overwritten on every boot. There is no way magisk will work on this TV.
The Boot file gets written to the partition from a encrypted AES file on every boot.

please @fuqi, if there's a way, could you please show us how we could wire HDMI to USB connection so I could install an update since HDMI is the service port and whatever image I put in USB it doesn't work.

I found the motherboard inside the tv is cv950xh-c42 ,but am not able to find firmware for this board
I tried usb boot with u-boot.bin recovery image,but its not going to recovery as well ,any suggestion here?

download the frimware on your pc
format your pen drive in fat32
and then extract the files from downloaded RAR and copy it in the pen drive eject the pen drive and insert it into the tv and then boot the tv.
it might work.

You cannot reboot into recovery mode directly.
I tried recovery.img from a different model of 42" FHDTV firmware img.
I copied only the img file into the USB drive and attached it to TV USB slot 1.
Switch on the TV plug while holding the Power button on back panel.
But it did not solved the problem of OP's boot logo issue.
