Otterbox Defender. Anyone have it and remove the screen protector? - LG V20 Accessories

Just wondering if anyone has removed the built in screen protector? I bought it today and it looks like the usual junk they use. I am supposed to get my phone tomorrow so how does it work with it?

I always remove the BI Screen Protector...hate it !! I just use a tempered glass instead but love the protection from the case itself

Not sure why #otterbox is only restraining to releasing a Defender series case for this phone. Would love to go for a commuter series.

I am using a defender, popped out the screen protector cleaned up the residual glue that held it on and applied a tempered screen protector to the phone.
I do have issues with the edges peeling up the screen protector, so I filed the sharp lip of the case back a tiny bit so when it flexes it goes over the screen protector instead of lifting it up.
All is good, phone is massive and I don't think I will by physically breaking this phone anytime soon with it.

Screen Protect that works with the BG Case

I bought the Body Glove Dimensions Case from an AT&T store along with the Visor AG screen protector (the only protector they had) But with the case on the screen protector keeps lifting up.. Anyone had any luck with this case (Which i really like) and a different screen protector? I'm leaning towards the Rearth protector cause it looks like it is cut a little smaller and might work...
are you sure it's the case causing the screen protector to lift off? I've seen a few reports that some screen protectors are lifting off the glass because it is curved at the edges.
Just got the Body Glove case today. I've had the Rearth screen protector on since I've had the phone. The case clears the screen protector all around by a few millimeters. No issues with pealing.

Skinomi TechSkin Screen Protector thoughts?

what are your thoughts on the Skinomi TechSkin™ Samsung Galaxy S III Screen Protector?
I am interested mainly in:
1. Is it perfectly CLEAR? I don't want any orange peel effect or other artifacts.
2. Do the fingers slide decently on the screen with the protector on?
3. Does it fit the screen nicely?
Thanks!
1. Is it perfectly CLEAR? I don't want any orange peel effect or other artifacts. No, but it's pretty good. I installed 2 of them last week and there are spots that have more haze than elsewhere. There is some orange peel effect but it's not noticeable, nor are the aforementioned spots, when looking straight on.
2. Do the fingers slide decently on the screen with the protector on? Finger resistance is minimal and they slide nicely.
3. Does it fit the screen nicely? Mine fit pretty good. The cutouts line up well and there's about a 1 mm gap at the edges. I believe some folks have posted that the edges started to lift due to the curved screen at the edges but I'm not see that, yet.
One thing I would do next time is wear latex gloves to eliminate fingerprints. I followed the installation directions and sprayed my hands but still wound up with a few minor prints. The good news is that you need a flashlight to see them and know where to look. They are not visible when using the phone.
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
Took a day for hazyness under the protector to dry and get outta there, since then it's been crystal clear.
The only real downside so far is you can't use it with TPU cases. The skin covers 99% of the glass so TPU cases cause it to peel at the edges.
I'm not sure if I should look for a new case or a new screen protector. I wanted the protection from the lip on the front of TPU cases. Now I'd have to get a hybrid case to keep the Skinomi or get a protector like SGP ultra nano to use my case.

I got in on the $3 deal so I'll give my opinion w/ no buyers remorse.
1. It's not perfectly clear. Almost no wet protectors short of maybe Zagg HD (that has its own problems) will be clear. I had a few indents after the install, even though I installed it with uttermost care.
ALL wet protectors I've seen produce a rainbow effect on a white screen. This is where the display glitters as you change your view angle.
2. Fingers slide about 90% as nicely as standard.
3. The fit is pretty good. It doesn't go completely to the edge, maybe a mm or two from it. Basically about 95-98% screen coverage.
I took the Skinomi off and threw it away because it kept peeling up with my Diztronic case. One or the other had to go, and I like the Diztronic better. It adds a lip around the camera and screen, so if I put my phone upside down, I don't have to worry about screen scratches (this is where 80% of scratches on my last Gorilla Glass phone came from, putting the phone screen-side down).
My friend has a BestSkinsEver wet protector, it goes 100% to the edges, so my Diztronic didn't peel his up (at least not initally).

Screen protector that doesn't get torn up?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a screen protector that doesn't have the edges torn up by generic TPU cases. I had a Skinomi screen protector which I always get and love, but unfortunately my TPU case doesn't agree with it. It's lifting the edges up and causing bubbles and it won't stay down along the sides. I've tried XO skins in the past and hated the look/feel, so those are out.
Thanks!
When I use screen protectors along with a case, I trim a millimeter or two off the screen pro first to avoid this.
Might want to put your case on then lay the protector on or as close to in as possible to see how much can be trimmed off

Best case to use with Spectre screen protector?

Can anyone tell me what the best case would be for use with the Spectre Tempered Glass screen protector? I have a Zoogue case on my S3 right now. The Zoogue case slightly lifts the screen protector off the screen, which in turn, reduce the screen sensitivity. Do you guys have any recommendations?
Thanks!
I've got a Case-Mate Barely There with my Spectre. It fits nicely, you have about 2-3 mm between the case and the screenprotector on each side.
I don't recommend buying it though. It's a real sucky case and a lot of people (including me) have reported the matte finish to peel off. They send out replacements but those peel off as well.
Also, it almost doesn't protect the bottom and if you lay the phone down on its screen, it will lay on the screen, I mean, the case doesn't stick out a lot so that when you've got the spectre on, it lays on the spectre rather than on the case (if that makes any sense).
Dropped my phone a couple of times and have got 2 nice cracks in my screenprotector. Case doesn't protect much I guess. Haha.
Good luck on finding a case!

How do you recommend I protect a OnePlus One for in pocket use?

Hello
I wanted to start thinking on how to protect my OnePlus One but still be able to store it inside of my pockets.
I usually wear standard 550 Levis so the pockets are pretty OK. Still I perfer a thin case.
Besides a thin case, a screen protector is a must. Ive used Best Skins Ever and ZAGG InvisibleShield and personally I perfer Best Skins Ever because its cheaper and it protects even better.
I do see that nowadays a lot of people are using tempered glass. What difference is there?
On cases, I liked the TUDIA Ultra Tough OMNIX hybrid case but, after I cannot find it in Europe, I see it might be too thick. My previous phone was 14.1 mm and I do not mind at all a thick phone (perfer it actually). How thick is the TUDIA?
On tempered glass, I have no idea as I have no experience.
Could you give me some recommendations? Thank you
For case you want Diztronic case. For screen protector i don't recommend tempered glass. I had 3 in this phone and each time i dropped the phone they break. These are minimal drop that have caused no damage to the rest of the phone. They look nice once installed but 9% of the time are one hit protect in case of serious drop. Problem is any drop will break them. After spending $30 i gave up. You dont need screen protector for phone these days. Just make sure the case has a lump.
I agree.. Diztronic is the way to go for a case. I have the ultra tpu and couldn't be happier.. I do use a nillkin glass screen protector because i do keep my phone in my pocket and want to protect the phone screen from things scratching it.. I'd Rather the protector get scratched than the screen itself..
Tempered Glass
I'm a big fan of the tempered glass protectors, I've had a spartan shield glass one on mine for the past 5 months. Dropped it face down from ~5 feet onto concrete not a scratch, then down a concrete stairwell and only received minor scratches to the protector and nothing on the screen itself.
It is not necessary to use a protector, it will make the phone heavier
I use a orzly scrren protector tempered glass
Fit it while the sun is shining on the display (you can see more dust)
and wipe the dust off with all four fingers (bare fingers)
My provided dist cloth just made the dust stick to the cloth, then screen and back and forth
and when peeling the adhesive off the screen protector hold it flat, mid air above the device, with the top side facing up, and the adhesive facing the phone, NEVER turn the protector so that the front of the protector faces downwards. and apply.
It looks perfect, Feels REALLY smooth, and definatley protects it (I had to get two as i messed the first one up, so i put the old protector on an old phone (was too big but the phone was broken anyway)
I dropped it on concrete. Glass shattered a lot, phone was fine.
One thing about these screen protectors is that if you do get a little dust under it DO NOT TAKE ANY TEMPERED GLASS BACK OFF. you cant peel it back, remove dust and reply. IT MESSES IT UP. The adhesive seperates from the protective glass and they never go back together.
Case wise im using a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md5L4PtkVnU
Agree wholeheartedly

I have this setup as well, except I have a Ringke fusion case and a Niliken glass screen protector. can't tell it's there, have dropped my phone at least 4 times and neither the phone or the glass screen protector has come out of it with a scratch.
You DO need a tempered glass protector
I keep my OPO in my pocket with the Diztronic TPU case and a tempered glass protector (about US$7 on eBay, search for item number 311029665158). One day I forgot that my keys were in my pocket. The tempered glass protector got a scratch, but the screen is fine.
Yesterday my phone fell 3.3m (4 feet) face down onto a brick floor, in the Diztronic case. The tempered glass protector got chipped and cracked, but again, the screen is fine.
I wasn't planning for the phone to fall —*no one ever plans accidents. Be prepared. (I have no connection to Diztronic or the seller of the tempered glass screen protector.)
One nasty detail: In my pocket the OPO gets warm and the touchscreen fails for at least 10 minutes after taking it out of my pocket.
I use a RInkge Fusion clear case, Niliken glass screen protector. I was running for the train and my phone shot out of my pocket and landed face-down on the tiled floor. I panicked, picked it up, but didn't get to look at it until I was on the train. No damage. None, absolutely fine. No crack in the screen protector, no breaking of the case. Absolutely fine. Fall distance, about 3.5 feet. And, it slid about 2 feet after I accidentally kicked it.
I carry my device in my front pocket every day. Never an issue.
Ooooo...

Give yourself time, you may.
I use the tempered glass protector and flip-case which are sold on the OPO site. IMHO the flip-case offers great protection for in and out pocket, as the screen is completely covered. No worries about what's in my pockets along with the phone....and when its open, the tempered glass is protecting it! Also the flip- case does not add much bulk at all...very thin!
The case is mostly just rubber padding. Not really that much protection.
The glass protector is UGLY but I feel that it would get the some done Thanks for all the suggestions.
