Device shutdowns independently :( - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've got my op3 for 4 months.
The problem is the device shutdowns independently at least 3 times in one week. It dosnt have any noticeable trigger, time on the day or a specific event.
I couldn't found any helpful info online.
Does anyone got the same phenomena?
Tx.

Is it rooted ? What rom? Does it heat up? A bit more details would help to know if its software or hardware

Well i sometimes find myself pressing the power button by mistake causing a restart. But if you are sure you not doing that then i suggest you flash stock 3.2.8 again if that doesnt help you might have to open a support ticket

Well first U have to figure out what reason cause this. Is this becuz of the software or the hardware? Try to flash another clean and stable Rom and see if your button is working now. If not,well...Go to the prepair store to try to fix it...Cheers
well.. my volume rocker just stopped working aswell, and it is caused by hardware fault.
it is completely loose aswell. and i think i can live with it..
you just have to find workarounds for things like vibration mode and stuff like that.
there are apps in the market that can help you.
search hint: Volume.
Hello

I had a problem with volume button as well. I flashed another ROM and it doesn't help, so i decided to send the phone repair under guarantee, and the phone was repaired free of charge

...and if we don't have warranty?
i paid 50e for repair few days ago...I have 6 monts warranty jet but my mobile provider sad that he cant accept hardware issues like that in warranty
There are kits on ebay (or other websites) that include a tool to take phone apart and install a new volume rocker. I did this and it now works better than it did before. However, the volume up does not work, only volume down, but that could be due to the fact I may have done it wrong
if it is not a software issue you gonna have to open phone...
check that metal piece(look picture) on flex that is on right place,
and also check that it makes "click" when you press it with a nail or pencil.
if it is not in right place it wont make contact and it won't work.
to place it in position you can try using hair dryer, heat it and move it to center(look picture to see where it must be)
why that happens?
combination of high temperature (in the car during the summer...) and high usage of volume button.
This has been happening to me for a few months too. It clicks but nothing happens, I can't get it fixed and I've flashed dozens of ROMs so it's not a software issue.

To be honest, its just one of the terribly made bits of the phone. That and the sim card cover.

You can soft reset you phone, any application might be conflicting ,,, if it doesn't resolve your problem then take care about the POWER button , it might be pressed when its in your pocket and the long press will result in Shutdown and Restart of phone.
Also check your battery terminals, they should not be loose.

My damn Galaxy W was doing that too. Sent it away twice and have a replacement. Guess what? its still doing it!
Its most likely a battery issue, make sure your battery isn't fat. If it is it might be the culprit.
Or else some application inside is conflicting, like the developer did not test the app good enough then released it.
Have had 2 W's in the family doing this ,as above one went back to Samsung under warranty and that stll did it . I have just updated to CM9 - I am hoping this will cure - early signs are good
It should be, no offence to any JB fans out there, but CM9 is certainly winning in terms of stability. Do give me feedback.

Hey, My phone is having the same problem, except that it never shuts down when i'm not using it. If it's plugged in, it's fine. If it's running an application (while not charging), it shuts off. I've had this phone for around 2 and a half years and this problem is just starting now.

Persistent sound issue no matter what

I've done just about everything. There's a log cat below. EVERY ROM, EVERY KERNEL STOCK OR CUSTOM, this issue is there after the first reboot. Im only going to answer every question that goes like "have you tried...." With a full rundown of what I did and results. I will remind I've tried every custom nougat rom, stock or custom and I've tried stock marshmallow rom to. Also some roms haven't even had sound on first boot. Some roms will work for a bit then they will do a soft reboot that takes 30-45 minutes to complete. Then have no sound. I'm open to taking my phone apart since my screen is fu*ked up. Im begging at this point I love this phone, I've had it for 2 months, I don't want to have to buy another one.
Tried unbrick tool yet? That may have a slightly different effect than just flashing stock ROM (as it completely nukes the device and installs everything again).
Anyways, you may have a hardware issue. In that case taking the phone apart won't do much ... You can only check the connections, that's about it.

I did actually brick it awhile back trying to solve that damn sound issue. I used the mega unbrick guide to fix it, I can try again. Cause hell who knows it might fix it. Thanks for the recommendations.
Found out it is hardware i narrowed it to the aux port board which is what the fingerprint sensor, microphone, speaker connect to. I'm ordering a new part tomorrow for it

If you do a system wipe, and still have the issue, you'll either have to get it serviced or replaced... or strap a vibrator to it.
I had the same issue and its in the settings somewhere I can't quite remember where it was that I changed it

It's probably a hardware issue if you did a factory data reset and it still vibrates constantly after your done.. If you made any changes or settings adjustments then try putting them back to defaults, or uninstall anything you may have installed recently (maybe a rogue app).
You can try going to safe mode and seeing if it still vibrates all the time.
IMHO the simplest approach (if possible) is if you can get it replaced by Amazon I would just do that and not try to delve to much more into it.
Happened to me shortly after purchasing. Had to get phone replaced. Actually happened to quite a few people.

Yeah Samsung won't touch my international phone. Ubreakit said they'd fix mine, and for cheap. But fortunately for me, the seller was kind enough to replace the phone. And it stopped working after ten days of opening. Very irritating when something so simple, yet important and expected to work without issues can cause such a hassle.

Question Regular, repeatable shutdowns

Someone please give me hope.
I've got this phone yesterday and it keeps turning itself off when locked. If my phone doesn't receive a "wake up signal" like a notificationn or isn't in charge it will turn off in around 5 minutes (measured with a clock). This is not a sudden shutdown or crash ,you can see the logo on the screen.
Neither safe boot nor factory reset solved the problem.
Returning it and buying it again at the same price is impossible now so i'm hoping for a fix before the return window ends.
Can Xiaomi fix my (and probably others) phone in less than a month or is better to throw the towel now and go for a full refund?
Oh.. Had a few unexpected shutdowns Yesterday.. and one today.. but it's Not reproduceable.
Have you tried to enable AOD? Maybe this is a workaround....
Yeah, even with AOD permanently on after around 5min the phone shuts off. I've also tried running the clock app in chrono mode in the background with no results.
Rightnow i'm trying to reinstall miui 12.0.2 cause i don't understand if this is an hardware problem or a software one.
Also we don't know how widespread this problem is, a lot of people are happy with their F£ but it's impossible not to notice a problem this serious
Just ordered the phone, will come in a week, what version of MIUI does it come with, Global stable or Global beta?
Bro try unlocking bootloader and installing xiaomi.eu

I have the same problem. Got it yesterday, went to sleep and in the morning the phone was rebooted/crashed.
Had to put in Sim pin and Device pin again just like after a reboot.
I hope this gets fixed soon.
Same problem here, I have the f3 for ten days with MIUI Global 12.0.4 (Italian Country), several reboots (four) almost always at night under charge, but once even during the day in front of my eyes, another time I have found the smartphone completely turned off, at this point I don't know whether to ask for a refund because I don't know if it's a SW or HW problem
There are several users who are reporting this problem
Hmmm i think the update from yesterday solved the problem for me.
I didn´t have a reboot this night.
Edit: Had another reboot this night, so update didn´t help.
UPDATE: i've updated the phone to 12.0.4 and the problem still remains. i will ship it back to Amazon in a few days. Also the problem got even worse ( before update): it's the second time i've found the phone with 0 charge after one of those shutdowns. The "when isn't in charge" part of the OP is also wrong, in the last days the phone switched of even while charging
Had a reboot this night on 12.0.4
Before putting it definetly inside the box after factory reset i've tried to start the phone again and then lock the screen at the welcome page. After 10 mins i've found it turned off
Same problem for me. I wonder, does it also happen on xiaomi.eu rom? Hope its not a hardware fault.

Pretty sure it´s just a software Problem. During my search for a solution i found out, the Poco x3 had the same problem.

That can't be, if it was a software problem all of us on MIUI will have the same experience. I think mine is a hardware problem cause is worse than anyone here. Also a lot of people do not have any problems so maybe is a QC issue on some component like the power management chip
I dont have any shutdowns or reboots at night, but i use an old charger with 800mA.
My Shutdowns come If i disable AOD.
