Le Pro 3 tweaking, battery and free up ram - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

My free ram is about at 1.7 with 0 apps running in the task bar. Iam already using greenify, lspeed and uninstalled bunch of bloatware after rooting my device. Was wondering if we can all share how to improve battery life, tweak the stock rom further to free up more ramp?

Mine can go as high as 2.1 GB, unroot | google now launcher | limited the auto-launched apps
Running FB, Messenger, Work Email, Gmail, YahooMail, AdGuard, Fingerprint Service etc in the background.

Why would you want more free ram? In linux based os, free ram=unused uram=useless ram

It will determine how optimum your device is.
More free RAM = More Apps that you can load throughout the usage period. And it will keep the OS from reloading your apps.

A bit of both though, clearing apps out of ram will then cause them to cold launch which is slower. I guess that's not really what you're after though. If you're after base level free ram, that's ok, as long as you're disabling things that you won't be relaunching. For what it's worth though, free ram is about the same on CM so that's just where it sits on this phone. I've personally never had anything close and redraw/reopen on this phone on stock, CM, or miui (though miui has ram management adjustments to play with). Has this been an issue for you?

Rarely like when I loaded 10+ apps and games, couple of benchmarks then went back and forth to them.

6GB variant? :cyclops:

Ofc, 4 gb cant have over it.

Im currently running the cm13 for the x727 4gb variant. I always have around 2.3 of free ram. Disabled all the bloatware that I saw fit and it runs smoothly. No cold launch.

Good to disable bloatwares, rarely used apps, apps causing wakelocks. Other than that, good to keep the apps in RAM. I see lots of people misusing Greenify misunderstanding this concept.

RAM Query

The Galaxy Nexus is supposed to have 1GB RAM
When I go into Apps and running Apps my phone says I have 326MB RAM used and 306MB free
I havent noticed the phone been slow at all but is this normal or am I missing RAM?
Also is there any way of stopping apps like WhatsApp, Facebook and Maps etc to be always running in background?
I also have like 350Mb used and 280Mb free. In total, is like 630Mb. But I think that are things running in background of the O.S you can't see.
But in any time I feel like my phone is going slow. In fact, it's the other way, I'm very satisfied with the speed and multitasking.
The apps like google maps or whatsapp will be always in background. Also, mention that opening the settings it consumes like 43Mb of ram. That is pretty huge.

Android keeps whatever it can in memory for quicker access; it's not like Windows where it's better to keep the memory free. You're fine. The missing 392 MB is reserved for the GPU.

Uninstall them. Unless they're consuming CPU time, there's no harm to having them running in the background.
I was thinking it might have been reserved for OS
Im am not bothered by it been missing or the other apps running as the performance is great but was just curious
I just have to figure out which app is causing my screen going to sleep totally or not been responsive when trying to unlock via pattern unlock. It may be Juice defender as I rest the phone and reinstalled apps gradually. It was one of the ones I reinstalled again in last few days and its happened again

Whats using all of our ram?

I have been trying to figure out why the Note has so little of the 3 gb of ram available at any given time. After a fresh boot, I might have 1.3 - 1.5 available, but that quickly disappears.
I have frozen all unnecessary apps with Titanium Backup, yet after launching just a few apps, I'll be down to 300 mb or so. Looking at the active applications list in task manager, the apps listed are nowhere near to adding up to over a gb of ram.
Tablet seems to be performing fine, I'd just like to know where the ram is going and why. Especially when tablets with 2 gb of ram seem to have much more free at any given time.

i am with you on this issue. would like to find out for my self as well! constantly having to clear ram.
youtube, gmail, and browers = 2.1 gb / 3 gb ...
what the heck?
i constantly have to go back and clear apps, this is such a let down because my htc one could load much more than this, and every1 knows, htc one is no where near the spec of note 2014..
I'm not rooted but I noticed the same thing with the ram, I thought rooting and freezing some Samsung apps, specially Knox stuff, would free up a lot of ram. I'm starting to think that it's not a big deal and Android frees up ram as needed before it starts to get laggy (of course it's not perfect). I think lag issues are somewhere else and not so much in freeing up more ram. Don't you feel anyway that your note is a lot faster after rooting and freezing those apps? As far as I know most rooted users feel that way...(?)

I have rooted mine about two weeks ago then froze all sort of junk listed in here and some other I identified mysefl. Now my used ram remains around 500 clean and around 700-800 when I open few apps. So guys the secret is getting a lot of useless apps frozen especially knox stuff.

Android is based on Linux. Android and Linux both run better when they use as much ram as possible. If you Google Android ram usage you can find a couple of interesting articles about this.

Yup, stuff is kept in the RAM as much as possible to increase performance. As soon as an app requires more RAM than is available, the system moves apps from the RAM as required. Clearing the RAM only increases the time it takes to start an app next time.
I would be disappointed if its NOT beeing used...

People are used to Windows needing free ram and do realize that Linux is a completely different animal altogether.
Here is the article for those that want to understand the ram usage.

Okay, guys. Disclaimer: I'm an IT professional and the Mobility expert for my company. I know how the RAM is used and why. I'm just curious as to what is using it. Especially in comparison to the Nexus 10, which has 2/3 of the RAM and has approximately the same amount available at any given time.
I wasn't looking for assurance that this is how it's supposed to work. I'm curious as to what you guys think is actually filling it up. Since I have disabled most unnecessary processes and only run a few apps at any given time, I can't see why so little is free.

The objective of good android RAM management is to keep RAM full of the the highest priority apps. This enables faster and smoother response. The apps that are in RAM on your device will be different than on someone else's device. If you are curious about how android decides what put in RAM and what to take out, do a google search on "android process lifecycle"
if you're concerned about ram usage go to dev settings and change the "Limit background processes" to something more you liking.

Too much ram consumption

So after installing viper one 2.1 on my m8, my phone is showing too much used ram. Even though there is no app running and also i force stopped them, my phone would still show 1.3 Gb consumed ram. Thanks
Well, that's just the viperone rom, you shouldn't be surprised. All the features included in this rom need ram.

what are you "saving" the RAM for?
Its there to be used, and most developers will tell you that using as much ram as you have is a good thing, so no, its not a problem

Problem starts when I run few apps at a time. Game, browsing etc., the phone slows down, lags and all. I ain't no expert but what good is 2 Gb ram if It can't run apps smoothly.
there are few, if any complaints anywhere on the internet about this phone ever lagging; close your game when you are done with it, and see if that makes things better.

Of course it does get better.
So that means I have to run minimum apps
no just close your games when you aren't playing them..hardly means you have to run "minimum" apps..
I have about 9 programs running in the background, and I have over 400 mb of free ram on my phone..no lag at all
Use Greenify to hibernate a few high ram users. Especially games that don't close properly.
But as said already... Android/Linux is built to run with a lot of the ram used always. This makes task switching quick and normally doesn't create issue, quite the opposite... Usually makes things open quickly.
But large games that are kept in memory is probably not a great thing.
I Greenify all games and anything else that hurts performance or my battery. But that's a short list on my phone.

Wow. I ve just Internet Explorer running and I'm left with 320 mb
Browsers use more ram as their cache size increases. It's normal. Android will boot older cached apps out of memory when it needs more space.
Stop worrying and start enjoying your device. It's working as intended.

High Ram issues (N5X)

Hello Everyone!
At first, I thought it was just me but after searching I find that a lot of other owners on Reddit and even here face similar issues. I don't have more than a normal amount of apps installed. I don't use a 3rd party launcher either. The memory utilization log clearly says that the Android OS is eating up most of the RAM (1,2gb RAM).
I am using Nougat (7..1.2) right now with custom ROM by LineageOS ...My phone gets really slow , app switching slow and sometimes i get crashes (randomly).
Android OS usage is 1,2 GB and Facebook,Messenger,Instagram 150-200mb each..
My previous Roms were PureNexus (7.1.2) same problem after 6months,Google Pixel2 Rom for 3 days (8.1.0) same..
My question is : Is it me or Android is claiming lot of memory for better managment and allocation..? and if anyone using a stable rom without facing the same ram issues..
Thanks!

There's an old saying that free ram is wasted ram. Android does a good job of managing ram so you're never going to see a lot of free ram. You have nothing to worry about.

I don't think you will get a smooth feel with newer versions of Android and the Nexus 5X with it's 2GB of RAM, which even at launch was criticised for not being very much, as most apps are unloaded as they move to the background to free up memory, so each time you launch an app it has to load from scratch. I was always seeing the Hangouts splash screen for example, it never stayed loaded after any amount of time, and these extra delays in loading apps is what causes the feeling of lag.
I've now just moved to a Pixel 2 with 4GB of memory and can see the difference straight away in that apps I can switch to instantly as they are not reloaded each time.

Phil

[QUESTION] Apps being killed

Hello.
I got a Mi A2 Lite a few days ago, is my first Android One. My model have 3Gb of RAM.
I'm facing the following problem:
Let's say I'm playing Lords Mobile (the only game I play). Then, I receive a message on WhatsApp. I go there and reply. I then go to Facebook and/or Chrome to check something, and want to go back to Lords Mobile. The game was pulled out from memory, and need to reload again from zero. Same with Chrome, it shows all my tabs I had opened, but is surelly reloading again from zero. Is like the "clear all" of 'recent apps' on some other phones.
I think 3Gb of RAM is enough to handle these apps, don't? I don't have too much apps installed, and the memory use is about 2Gb. I don't know if this behavior is native, by the way. Another example: if I go to sleep just after play, when I go to game again in the morning, the game reload from zero.
Is this normal? Any way to make this model handle the memory in a better way, if is the case?
My device is on Pie, July security patch. No root.
Thanks in advice
It gets better over time. There is "AI" that figures out what to keep in memory.
But in general, pie seems to be worse than previous releases at keeping things in memory, even when memory is not full.

Not that anyone seems to know. Maybe custom ROMs help?
I just used my phone like normal and noticed that it got better at not unloading apps that I came back to regularly.
You can try to force Android Go mode, since it's designed for really small RAM use but I tried it and didn't like it (changes some things).

It's not AI, it's the Kernel's scheduler profile, and Xiaomi is famous for tuning it with an aggressive policy towards keeping as much RAM available as possible. The only way to improve it is by installing a custom kernel.

Well, custom kernel and ROMs means unlocking bootloader... I can't do this for now. But, anyway, thanks!
3 gigs of ram is barely enough for pie. On the 4 gig version I have barely 1 gig free at idle. But mostly, the app kill is done by a crappy A.I. system that does some battery optimization.

Well, taking in note what @slimshady76 wrote above, maybe the "Butterfly for daisy" will be a good deal. But I can't do it now.
I just made a test on last 2 days.
I uninstalled any optional app on phone I downloaded, and disabled a lot of system apps. Lords Mobile won't unload from memory when switching and/or when I sleep and back to game at morning.
So, is a lack of memory, but I still thinking 3Gb is enough to handle it. When 10.0.12.0 comes available to download, I'll try Butterfly kernel.
