Update LG G4 vs986 (verizon) - Verizon LG G4

Hello,
I have a friend who brought me a LG G4 VS986LD (verizon) from the united states. The problem is that it still runs under android 5.01 and I'd like to upgrade it to android 6.0. When I use the application LG G4 VS986 SOFTWARE UPDATE informs me that an update is available. Is there a risk that by making this update the phone no longer recognizes the mobile networks in Cameroon where I live. Knowing that this phone is initially reserved for the US market.
Thank you

I think the risk is very small and even if it happens, you can always downgrade again back to Marshmallow, so I don't think you have anything to lose there, just try it out.

thank you for your answer,
In this case how would I go back to the previous version of android? Is it enough to do a reset from the system settings?
Thank

No, you need to download a kdz of the old version and use LGUP to flash it.

I'm running my vs986 on 6.0 in Ukraine. No problem with cellular network

V20B upgrade, should I?

Hi XDA users.
I've recently bought a new lg, the internatinal version. Now, I have the SEA firmware. I got an update from the LG PC Suite for version V20B. I wonder if I should update my device, since it's a new one and I still have my warranty.
Also, I am not at home most of the time, and I cant go fixing it during most of the week, so is it safe? are there any memory leaks like some people reported?
Thanks in advance.

Updating stock official LG Firmware through OTA or LG PC Suite does NOT void your warranty, only rooting does but you can get warranty back by unrooting. If you plan to root it then you shouldn't upgrade yet because right now it G3 can't be rooted when it's running stock LG Lollipop. If you don't care about rooting then you should definitely update with LG PC Suite, it's safe, it's fast, it's very good. My G3 was like a new phone. I would strongly suggest doing an factory reset after flashing for maximum smooth experience.

I just upgraded my D855 SEA version from v10k to v20b. All good, but then LG PC Suite wanted to upgrade again to v20b-L, but this time it went thru the upgrade and ended in a bootloop. I had to factory reset to fix it, and now its back on KitKat...
Just going thru the upgrade again now to lollipop....

Thx for the answer, though that my warranty isn't the ordinary one, my phone is from a private store and I don't quite sure about their policy, I would check it.

Thx for the answer, do you have any memory leaks? is it possible to restore back to kitkat without losing my warranty? and does it work for you now? should i factory reset it before updating?

Too early for memory leaks - that was specific to the Nexus 5 anyway i think.
Dunno about warranty stuff. To my knowledge using PC Suite is covered by warranty.
Lollipop works ok now. Took ages though to upgrade. From my terrible experience, i'd probably recommend a factory reset first, but you shouldnt have to.

And, are you suggesting me to upgrade? Is it much better? What improvements should I see in terms of speed and battery?
Thanks in advance.
LG PC SUITE error "unable to continue analysis of environment"
Hi All Happy New Year
I also have SEA version LG G3, saw the new prompt via PC Suite to upgrade to 20b, however came across the following error message "unable to continue analysis of environment". Would appreciate if anyone can help point out any potential problem?
Thank you

Try upgrading with LG Flash Tool 2014.
Use this guide and links, make sure you download the right firmware and If you have 32GB phone make sure you DON'T try to flash the 16GB Firmware.

I am here from INdia, i got this phone as a gift. When i used sua (software update assistant ) for the first time it gave me an update of 1.92 gb and i did it. My software build version changed from 11a to 13b and while 13b was installing it still showed that after this upgrade is completed do download a few more upgrades of the phone......
Now what is happening whenever i open sua it says upgrade available but when it finishes connecting and observing my phone then its status changes to " up to date". How should i upgrade to marshmallow. PLease Help !!!!!!!!....
Now i am on 13 b and i have already reset my device after upgrade...... so help me if there is other way except KDZ flashing....
and if not then also do tell me that.
and other question, will flashing the kdz will give me offical upgrade only..

Make sure data is turned on and a Verizon Sim card in, and obviously you did a factory reset. If so, you shouldn't have an issue forcing the update.
24c and 25a update's should be available.

Actually I don't know any other way without having a Verizon Sim, or trying LGUP method, or kdz.

LG G Pad X 10.1 v930 update issue

After bricking my first tablet, I learned that the boot loader is locked and that the factory Rom is not available for this device (and a lot of AT&T devices). It was replaced luckily but now I face a different set of issues. The update to Marshmallow is available but I cannot update it no matter what I do. Obviously I am worried about tinkering too much because of the possibility of bricking it again. Yes it is rooted, and that's why it refuses to update.
Would it be wise to try to mask the root with an xposed module, since I can't seem to fully remove the root itself?
good luck getting any answers on this device. If been asking about downgrading from 6.0 so I can get root. No helpful information for the ATT variant.
I can't find any updated when I try for this device. How did you go about getting a replacement ?
I would be fine with a rom image to install and a root. But I want my 6.0 that I am deserving
You can't retain root if you're going from Android 5x to android 6x because of the changes to ART. Maybe one day some crafty dev will figure out how to root an AT&T 6x device with a locked bootloader but unfortunately that day isn't today.
If you are looking to root and customize your device then stay off of att.

I have an LG Gpad X 10.1 v930 (AT&T) which I am unable to update to Marshmallow via OTA Update. I haven't rooted my device, yet I am not able to receive the update via OTA. Is there any other way I can update to Marshmallow? I tried to use LG Bridge but it keep giving me message "Cannot check software version".
I just recently got the v930 from AT&T, and I've tried Kingroot, but it did not work. It came with MM already installed, and I can't find very much information on this tablet. So If you want root, then it's probably best not to upgrade.

My tablet originally had an ATT sim card so I borrowed an ATT sim card, checked again for update through settings. Connected to the ATT server and got the update.

Put in an ATT sim card so you can connect to their server for the update.

G4 LGUS991 6.0 installation Help!

Hi folks. I have a US991 with 5.1 lollipop that is a replacement LG sent me. I need the 6.0 MM update. I have tried LG Bridge, but it's not recognizing the USB Connection to the PC. I have tried everything besides rooting the phone (am not comfortable doing that). I called/chatted online/and even emailed Tech support for AT&T and LG almost 10 times now, but they are simply not helping me at all. They keep saying I need to wait for available update or they tell me the other party has to resolve it. When I got to check for software update under settings it keeps saying I am up to date. What can I do at this point because I need the update. Thanks for any suggestions.

Its a Driver issue on your PC, its not correct installed yet. My idea : have you dissabled the Automatic update in Windows 7, 8, 10 ? If this happend you must enable it again but can set from automatic to Manual and install the Divers or LG Bridge again. Happend so on my Sytem too.
Thanks for reply. I finally got mobile support tool to work on a friends laptop but when I ran it it shows my software is up to date just like it does in the update center of settings. Why would it not show me any updates at all knowing that my other G4 has MM on it?? Any suggestions. Thanks.

I also had tim and when I switched to no brand I stopped receiving ota and also lg bridge no longer updates my phone. I now use LGUP every time there is an update and do a manual upgrade. The lg bridge update log says the phone fails an imei test so I believe there's no other way to update for me and probably for you too.

If it was pure open stock, it shouldn't show that "222-01" thing in software info. It should be "EUR-XX". And I can't make it that way. I'm wondering if anybody achieved it.
Same issue..received a Tim branded G7 so installed GBR open firmware from LG fan now all good no branding just no OTA UPDATES..Anyone know of a fix for this save flashing every new update.?
Any help/information much appreciated....
I’m going to try and flash the Italy open rom if there is one...see if that makes any difference..
What is the Italy code? Is it ITC?
So i flashed a few open firmwares..ITC and GBR open latest ones and earleir releases and none would OTA update only flashing back to origanal TIM firmware did it update OTA.
So its put up with branding etc and get all ota updates or flash a EU open firmware and keep doing this with every update.

No, only with hands through lgup
So is there any way for users to istall an open F.W so you don’t have network branding or bloatware
And still receive the OTA updates?and security patches
I know it don’t really make a massive difference but the branding and boot screen really winds me up for some reason..
I could send device back as I purchased in the uk thinking it would be a uk phone but it’s Italian..still says LG-G710EM so I guess it’s the Euro variant..
guys, for LMG710EM which firmware should i flash to remove brand?
thanks in advance

Any that’s an open for your regional area...
Be aware if you do this you will no longer receive OTA updates.
I'm asking because i'm fresh in this topic (and generally in android) and i prefer to ask before i do something wrong.
Yes, i know that i will no longer receive OTA updates what is quite logic, but manual update via LGup isn't a big problem for me. Just less convenience.
So, for Poland, firmware G710EM10q_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1219.kdz should be okay, yes? and one more question, the process of updating via LGup looks like normal firmware updating (keeping the configuration and data) or like clean firmware flashing?

Yes that’s an okay firmware for Poland and yes LGUP wipes and gives clean install each time I’ve used it..there maybe a way to upgrade once you have initial new firmware as you don’t want issues so clean install is best to start then investigate upgrade for next time.
When should 9.0 roll out? the G8 already released with it...
