Lenovo Vibe Shot Z90A40 Cant Turn the device on after miflash completes successfully - Lenovo Vibe Shot Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am not getting Qualcomm 9008 mode even after installing and reinstalling the drivers manually or via setup
I see this under Other Devices in device manager
QHSUSB__BULK
Then I ran miflash it worked fine as per following attached screenshot:

But when I unplug device and turn it on it does not show any thing, just a long (2/3 seconds) vibration and done
So basically I cannot get any thing on my screen, Plz help me to get to recovery mode, as if I get till that point
I would be able to flash a proper stock ROM form SD Card
(I have tried the things after removing SD card as well)

it is fixed now
I resolved it, the Diagnostics 9006 mode problem happened to my device twice due to various reasons
in first attempt I was seeing a lot of read only partitions when I connected phone, it was solve using QPST/QFill
before resolving this problem I was able to go to Stock recovery almost all the times but was unable to flash
any thing from there even with the use of SD card
2nd time the problem was same, but this time I was not seeing any partitions in my Computer
actually both times the real problem was going to proper 9008 mode which I finally got to know how to do it from
following thread
http://www.androidbrick.com/lenovo-zuk-phones-qfil-roms-unbrick-guide/
I feel I shall put the text as well:
If you were on Lollipop : Phone must be completely off. Pressing Volume Up
key plug the USB cable in WITHOUT PRESSING POWER BUTTON ! Port will open.
If you were on Marshmallow : Phone must be completely off. Plug the USB cable in
and immediately press Power On button. Port will open.
Since I bricked from Marshmallow, so I used the Plug in Cable + Power button only to got
to 9008 mode and once there I knew I can make a come back, which yet came after a couple of tries
as one has to click immediately on Download button when Qfil can see 9008.

Actually I bricked my phone a whole lot of times even after my post thats because once I knew that it is just soft bricked and I can get it back somehow, I got the confidence and tried advanced things that bricked my phone again and again
And it was only the recent time (around 3 weeks ago), that I figured the 100% working 9008 method for my phone
actually u have to drain the battery completely out then it will get 9008 mode to do it u shall try turning your phone on again and again so that battery goes off
For example: Press Power button for a few seconds to turn it on.
Or press 3 buttons at same time (VOL+, VOL- and Power), then release only Power button when you get vibration. Then after 2 seconds release both VOL buttons as well (this is for going to recovery mode)
This way you can drain all battery of phone, and you will know when the battery is all gone when you will press the Power button and phone will not show any LED light or screen light, it will just vibrate and will be off
Now you connect ur phone to PC in following way:
If at bricking you you were on Lollipop (Android 5): Pressing VOL+ key and plug the USB cable in WITHOUT PRESSING POWER BUTTON ! 9008 will open use Qfil to flash the ROM u want
OR If at bricking you were on Marshmallow (Android 6): Plug the USB cable in phone, then connect cable to PC and exactly at the same time press power button (some times u dont need to press power button so try with both options). Then if you see 9008 mode in Qfil, then immediately press the Download button in Qfil
If you see Qfil error then repeat the above process to get 9008 mode and use miflash instead of Qfil miflash worked for me better than Qfil from such situation as Qfil often gives error in between
And when you get the flashing 100% then phone will either auto restart or you have to restart it manually Using Qfil it shows u message when it is restarting the phone, and I think using miflash it just says process 100% complete then u have to restart phone yourself
Remember at this point (after restart) connect your phone charger properly in a electricity power socket instead of PC as the battery was already drained so you need to charge the device while it shows the long booting process due to new ROM flashed.
Good luck,

Can't get into recovery mode

I flashed JG5, updated to modaco's r3 and then tried to flash mimocan's stall fix which killed my phone (progress bar stayed on 0 and phone went black).
Now I've reflashed JG5 and cannot get into recovery mode.
VolumeUP+Home+Power just starts up the phone as normal ( I have tried multiple times)
VolumeDOWN+Home+Power still gets me into download mode.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Managed to reboot into recovery through adb.
I have the same problem here.
I can enter in recoery mode only with abd or reboot widget ...
Anybody else ? volume up + home + power doesn't semm to work ...
EDIT : the pb occured when I flashed the JG5, and I have the same problem in JM1 and JM2 !
EDIT 2 : I manage to acces to recovery mode.
I pressed volume up + power + home and when the i9000 logo appeared I released power !!
i've had a bad flash with latest firmware, odin became stuck at "do not power off"
now i get the "cannot connect" icon and the device isn't detected when i plug in the usb cable.
i've installed both kies and usb drivers, but still nothing.
any ideas?
i actually get a com 7 usb serial port driver but the device isn't detected by odin. the drivers installed are default from microsoft.
10x.
Had this issue myself.
I disconnected everything. Restarted the computer.
Opened the back of the phone and removed the microsd card, sim and battery.
Put the battery back in. Placed the phone in download mode.
Started ODIN and entered all the files then connected the phone to the computer and flashed as per normal.

Exactly that!
If you don't get into recovery mode by pressing volup+home+power, you are just pressing them too long or short or alternatively didn't turn off the phone before trying it (not necessary but makes it a lot easier)

I found I had to do it a couple of times to get it to work as well.
Just have to keep at it. Maybe my old fingers are not clicking at the same time.
Cant get me Gt-9000I into recovery mode & cant on usb debugging because pattern lock.
I've got an old GT-9000I which cant get into recovery mode with button combinations. The bad thing is phone is stuck in pattern lock as well. I forgot my pattern and phone is showing email verification for unlocking device which is also not working.
Is there anyway I can flash my device with altering some circuitry or applying anything.

Ouch a soft brick. Damaged recovery maybe?
Try a hardware factory reset again if you can:
Hardware factory reset (Using power and vol buttons when you can't run it from within Android 4.4)
Take your phone and turn it off – just press power button and select “power off”.
Wait while your device is shutting down.
Then, press volume down button and power button together until the LG logo appears on the screen.
When the LG logo is displayed, let go of the power button, keep pressing the volume down key and then press once more the power button.
Once you do that, on your LG G3 the factory reset menu will be displayed.
Press power button in order to agree and wait while the hard reset is being completed.
If you can't do that do you have download mode at least? If download mode can run your not fully bricked. And you can run the KDZ flasher, flash the tot and dll files again.

LG G3 Unbrick/Unroot (set to Stock ROM) stuck on Status 2
I had the same issue (phone stuck on Status 2) during stock ROM update. This is what I did to get it to work :
Unplug battery.
After a couple of seconds, plugged battery.
Repeated step that makes phone go into download mode (Volume Key up pressed while plugging into computer USB).
Computer continued downloading everything and finally made it to Status 3 (update is complete).
Rebooted phone. Everything works OK!

[Fixed] I hard bricked my Vibe P1

Dear developers!
After successfully flashing and upgrading a friend's Samsung, I got the courage to do the same with my Lenovo Vibe P1.
I followed this video and everything was perfectly: I unlocked the bootloader, connected using QFIL and flashed the TWRP recovery he provided, until the 8:00 minute in the video the program said "Waiting for reset done..." and my QFIL just stucked on that message, so after waiting 5-7 minutes I disconnected the cable in hope that it will reboot to recovery, got some log errors and since then the phone is hard bricked.
Turning on does not work, recovery/bootloader/charging does not work, essentially the screen is dead, the only thing that works is recognization in QFIL program.
When I try to flash stock rom or that recovery from that video again, it first says a protocol error:

}
When I try to Download again, now it gets stuck at the Working folder (last message in the log, see below)
EDIT: Depending on the QFIL version, the version below actually gives the same error as above after few minutes.
In addition, any attempt to connect the phone to Windows using USB results in numerous partitions being shown from the phone internal memory (many of which Windows does not recognize as formatted):

Is there anything that could be done to recover my phone please? Not having the right financial situation to purchase a new one and school starts soon so pretty bad situation for me now.
Kind regards,
kangarko
Update! I deleted all partitions from the phone and was successfully able to flash a couple of ROMs from the Internet (including a stock one). However, after each flash one, I get the "Waiting for reset done..." message and than the phone gets disconnected from my Fusion (virtual Windows 7 in Mac), and when it gets connected again it says Finished but the phone is completely black. No signs of any activity, it does not restart itself nor vibrates, and I end up with the problem in my first post again ;(
Help still needed... noticed I typed "Lenovo" in the thread title instead of Vibe, I corrected that but the PHONE IS STILL BROKEN.
Alright, got it solved somehow.
Flashed "P1a42_S272_160506_ROW_QPST" using QFIL 2.0.0.3 and Lenovo usb drivers v1.1.33 + Qualcomm drivers 1.0.
Newer QFIL versions are disfunctional over my device.
Always make sure to hold Power button for 13 seconds to make sure the device is OFF, then connect to QFIL. After it finishes the flashing process, simply disconnect and hold Volume UP button + Power button for 13 seconds and than again to make it boot.
You can find some useful stuff here (including TWRP):

[STOCK ROM] [QFIL] [GUIDE] Stock CyanogenOS 13.1 for QFIL + Unbrick from 900E/9008

Hey XDA!
I found somewhere in web stock rom for QFIL, that you can flash when your phone is hard bricked (like mine was) or when you want to remove Add-X for free. Here are the downloads:
Qualcomm 64Bit drivers
Full Qualcomm flashing suite
QFIL image
My mirror of QFIL image (use when AndroidFileHost is slow for you)
Here are the steps to flash it:
1. If your phone is in 900E mode and you can't reboot to 9008, get a spare USB type C cable or microUSB to USB-C adapter.
1a. If your phone can boot into 9008 mode without problems by holding all 3 buttons, go to step 5.
2. Now you must cut your cable like this (image credit: [email protected] from MIUI forums)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Burn plastic on green and black cable
Something like that:
4. Now when your phone is fully turned off (you can get back cover off and disconnect battery), connect cable to your pc, short green and black cables together and connect it to your phone. After about 10 seconds separate the wires. Now your phone will boot into 9008 (aka EDL) mode. If you will get Unrecognized USB device prompt, connect battery when phone is turned on into 9008, detach EDL cable and connect normal cable.
5. Launch QFIL and set it like that:
6. Click "Download" and wait until finish. If QFIL will error with "system.img/cache.img/userdata.img not found" create empty files named "system.img", "userdata.img" and "cache.img" in stock rom folder.
7. When QFIL will finish flashing, hold power button in your Swift 2. It should boot to system now. If not, try to flash TWRP/Stock rom via fastboot, doing factory reset in Cyanogen Recovery or "fastboot format userdata".

I see your point about duplicate but I guess you could say @puszekkkkk added photos and info on kicking into 9008 ...your guide was the inspiration or first but both guides are useful to people ...hopefully i won't need either but neat trick with spare usb to get into qfil mode
This destroyed my computer :'-(
I'm sad/frustrated to report that I attempted to follow this guide and completely destroyed my desktop computer in the process! ? I made the cable exactly as instructed and made sure everything was carefully wired with nothing touching anything it wasn't supposed to. I tried repeatedly to get my ZTE device to boot into EDL mode but it simply would not. And then, when I was trying once again, holding the green and black wires together for a few seconds, I suddenly noticed an electrical burning smell. Looking at my beloved little mini-desktop PC, I noticed a very bright orange-yellow piercing light coming from within and then realized this was a flame!! ? I quickly unplugged the PC and ripped the case off, and then blew out the small flame that had started to burn a specific chip on my motherboard. I think this chip must have something to do with USB-port power supply/support. It's a very specific chip and not one I can find online to purchase to repair/re-solder myself. My device is four years old now and is unfortunately out of warranty. I called the tech support center for my device anyway (ASUS) to see if they could do anything, and also wanted to inform them that their product had caught on fire, but they just took my information and said they were sorry but that they couldn't help me with this at all.
So now I am without my main desktop PC. ???
And my stupid ZTE device is still a useless paperweight... ?

... Homemade cables are a bad way to enter edl
Use fastboot :
fastboot oem edl
Using test point:
Search on YouTube for a video on how to open your phone and "shorting" two contacts to enter edl ( this is the method used by technicians and manufacturers)

1) Hard Reset = Hold Vol down and power
2) As soon as the screen goes black, press and both volume buttons and plug it into the usb (can take a few tries if they is an error somewhere)
3) This should get you to download mode
once in download mode download the A50 android 10 firmware from sammobile [ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/#SM-A505FN ] - be sure to change the model and network for your phone.
Now you are on stock android 10 [So many reasons to use this over pie - for twrp and magisk it has worked wonders]... Follow this guild: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a50/how-to/guide-samsung-galaxy-a50-btc4-firmware-t4071817
