How to install:

you can phone reboot manual "volume down and power button together" then you jump to point 6

yas i do this whole process but my devices do not opne after htc logo
what i do?

Rename the RUU to
2PSTIMG.zip
Copy 2PSTIMG.zip to a external sd card.
Put sd card in phone if not allready.
Then do
Boot to download mode. Vol down + Power.
It should say file found hit volume up to flash.
Hit the volume up button.
When phone reboots to download mode again. Because it probably will.
Hit volume up again to flash entire ruu.
NOW YOU ARE BACK IN BUISNESS..
Say Thanks.

Supports T-Mobile/MetroPCS?
I was wondering if your SIM unlock method also supports T-Mobile/MetroPCS? Thanks

Just did it on a T-Mobile branded Desire 530. Worked great once I remembered to reboot after pushing the new file.
The phone has to be rooted, obviously, since you need su access to push/pull that file.

I'm stuck at dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p36new of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p36
'dd' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Is the error i get after su

That's a windows error message. You have to be in adb shell for any of this to work. When you type "adb shell" it should connect to your phone and give you a different prompt. Only then can you issue commands to the phone.
(You have to have usb debugging enabled on the phone to use adb at all, and the phone has to be rooted for the required su command to work)

So, did you code this:
adb push mmcblk0p52-rfg_8-UnLocked.txt /sdcard/mmcblk0p52new
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p52new of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p52
exit
exit
Then just reboot? My 530 keeps locked ;/

Well, I went through the whole documented process... rooting the phone first, pulling the old file, comparing it to be sure it's the same as the 'locked' one posted (it was), pushing the new 'unlocked' file and rebooting. Once you've pushed the 'unlocked' file and put it in the correct place, the phone should be unlocked on reboot. If it doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you other than to try again and follow the instructions to the letter. If you're getting error messages along the way, resolve those.

I also read the whole post then do the process normaly even with more than one M9 (m9 ok, 530 no)
I try on old OS nothing then update to the latest version 1.36.531.4 and nothing as well.
I put the stock ruu, unlock bootloader, recovey then root and all process work fine but no unlock, its keep saying i can use the unlock t mobile tool to unlock and show sim with the padlock ;/...
Would you please upload your old and new mmcblk0p52 please?
If i cant unlock i am thinking on super cid and flash others ruu ;/
Thanks for your time!

This are my 3 files...
mmcblk0p52-rfg_8-UnLocked.txt
mmcblk0p52old
Locked.txt

For those like me did this on HTC M9 and thought it will be the same here a resume of my issue...
HTC M9 unlock partition are mmcblk0p52-rfg_8-UnLocked
And the Desire line are mmcblk0p36-rfg_8-UnLocked
I try the correct method using the whrong partition unlock file, stop a little to READ and it works fine now.

p36 or p52?

The original thread only mentioned p36. Why are you now discussing p52?
In order to simply SIM unlock the 530, p36 is the partion we should be replacing, correct?
Or does it vary on this phone, and p52 needs to be overwritten?
Could somebody please confirm?
Thanks

[Tut] Preparing Your One X for Custom Roms (For Dummies)

There seems to be a lot of confusion in the air around either how to unlock your bootloader or how to install a new recovery.
I am writing this as a very easy step by step guide to do all the things necessary to get your new HTC One X ready to accept some custom fun so here goes nothing
Unlocking Your Bootloader
Words of warning - unlocking your boot loader will wipe your data partition
Things you have put on your internal memory will be fine but all of your apps etc will be gone.
Before we can even think about doing anything the first port of call is unlocking your bootloader.
As of the time of writing this there is currently no S-OFF method available so this is the only method of flashing a new recovery or boot image.
I'm going to keep this as simple as possible
1. Go Here "http://www.htcdev.com/" and create yourself an account on HTCDEV.
2. Download These Fastboot Files
3. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
4. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 2 to the new folder
5. Go Here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ and select "All Other Supported Models" and "then begin unlock bootloader"
6. Yes, Tick both Boxes, Proceed
7. Skip up to step 8 as we have all we need for the first 7 steps
8. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 10 seconds
9. Power your phone on by holding power and volume down
8. Highlight Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power
9. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
10. cd to your folder where we put fastboot files cd c:\fastboot
11. type this into your command prompt window fastboot oem get_identifier_token
12. select & copy the text as per step 9 on the HTCDev website
13. paste your identifier token into the box at the bottom and submit
You Will Very Shortly Receive an email from HTCDev with a link to the second part of the instructions and your "Unlock_code.bin" attached
14. download the "Unlock_code.bin" from the email and save it to the same folder that we extracted fastboot files to in step 2
15. type this into your command prompt window fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
16. The Display Will change on your phone, press Vol + to accept and power to confirm.
Note you may get an error on screen or on your cmd window (cant remember which now) that says something about too many links. It is nothing to worry about and your bootloader will still unlock
Congratulations You Have Successfully Unlocked Your Bootloader
Now to the good stuff
Installing A Recovery
This one is very simple to do once you have your bootloader unlocked.
A thing to note; at present there is no USB-Mass Storage in recovery so if you are planning to install a custom rom i would get it put on the internal memory of your phone now rather than messing things up later and been unable to install it
(if you have follwed my unlocking guide skip to step 4)
1. Download These Fastboot Files
2. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
3. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 1 to the new folder
4. The Official Version of CWM has been released and is now capable of flashing all roms, you can grab it HERE
5. download the custom recovery and save it in the same folder as you did the fastboot files
6. Power Phone Off by Holding power button for 10 secs
7. select Fastboot with volume + or - then press power
8. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
9. cd to your fastboot files folder cd c:\fastboot
10. type in your command prompt fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery_image.img
in my case it was fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
Congratulations you now have a custom recovery
power off the phone by holding power for 10 seconds
power on the phone holding power+volumer down
choose recovery with volume +/- then power to select
You are now on your custom recovery
First Thing - Do A Nandroid Backup Of Your Current Rom In Case anything bad happens
Make sure you already have your new rom on your internal memory as you cannot enable mass storage in the current recovery builds.
Wipe then Flash your new Custom Rom
Or you can download the latest SuperSU binaries from HERE and install them Via Recovery to just root the stock rom
Hope this helps some of you
Thx !

+1!! It's easy once someone spells it out, lol.
Question (and I know it's probably been discussed elsewhere, but clearly I've only just noticed it), with this issue with not being able to enable mass storage...does this mean that once I've chosen a particular ROM, placed it onto SD and unlocked/flashed recovery, I won't be able to flash another different ROM? Can I not just flash through fastboot??
Is it worth collating the oem get_identifier_token calls and responses? As there may be an obvious correlation whereby HTVDev can be bypassed or the process simplified.

If the dev has released a set of fastboot images then you can install them through fastboot.
You can change roms as you still have USB mode in the custom Rom you have, the only real problem comes if you format your system partition and then realise you don't have a Rom to install on the sdcard, at this point you can't get to a position where you can put a new zip on so you would have to do the ruu and start from scratch
It's only when in the recovery that USB doesn't work, as soon as you flash your new Rom and boot it you can use USB as normal

I think your tutorial will save many people much sweat!!
Plus it will help reduce the "I've bricked my phone" threads also!!

It's highly unlikely that we will be able to learn anything by the identifier tokens, if anything is to be learned it would be finding what link your own identifier token has to the unlock_code.bin that they send you in the email, but we will probably never know

Wait...you were kidding, yeah??
When I do the process of unlock from htcdev, I got this error:
Error Code: 122.
Error Reason: Email cannot be sent.
Anyone can help?
Same error Message for me, but it seems to be an error by HTCdevs Email sending like you see, i done same with my Sensation XL before 2 months and it works. Surely HTCdevs have any issues by sending mails from their system! Hope thats not generally when ONE X has Software: 1.26.401.2
But cool TUT! I`m impressed!
I have 1.26.707.4 getting the same 122 error interspersed with site unavailable. I think something is wrong on htcdev at the moment

Things that you forgot to mention is BOOT LOADER,is it locked Or unlocked?
it will written above your phone's Hboot -2.00.0027.
If it's unlocked that try locking it back and then run stock RUU the one you were using it in last working stat.
Thanks.

Don't get panic!
It's really easy.....as you may check that i am also new to xda infect i registered on December last month, ever since then i get to know things which i didn't know before so don't worry it will take time but you will know step by step.
As you have mention about S-On and some other detail by pressing volume down and power button.,the same way do it.
first phone should be switched off,and press volume down and power button together, once you see white background with several information regarding your phone's current status.
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
and some others but in that screen look for top on the list it should written locked or relocked,if not then you have to lock it back in order to run any stock RUU.
as you said that any sim card works which means that your phone is unlocked to network. but for now if there is no other issue in your phone than you have to relock the bootloader in order to run STOCK RUU.
without locked boot loader you won't be able to install RUU.
If it stats ***Locked*** than just flash any RUU by double clicking on it.,if not than just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133336
But its says nothing locked or unlocked at the top
and how to enable USB Debgging

you can try flashing RUU with the latest or same version as you know that you already using it..but firstly you must find the correct RUU that are suitable with you CIDnum (country ID) of you phone...or else you might using a goldcard method
to check the CIDnum of your phone..your pc must have the latest HTC driver (you can find it here ), and your must already had ADB/ SDK to running android debugging bridge (you can download it minimal ADB from here or download full SDK from here )
after that get your phone to the bootloader n select FASTBOOT then connecting your phone with your pc..then open cmd and change source to your ADB / SDK folder..then typing "fastboot devices" (this is to see connected of your phone to pc)
if success connected..the output will prompt it of your phone serial number..after that you can continue to typing "fastboot getvar all"
then see your CIDnum in the line of output "INFOCID.....XXXX"
hope this help..

yap..just wanna correct misspelled..
because..you already suggest it to OP to relock his phone bootloader..that's mean you already assume that his bootloader is already unlocked just not show in the top of bootloader..
because of that...i just wanna correct that..because what i know until now is.. actually the bootloader of Ace..by default is indeed nothing showing state locked or unlocked on the top of bootloader.. that's why i suggest him to flashing RUU again..no needed to relock bootloader first..
i just wanna correct miss direction to the OP....nothing else..

that's CID num is for RUU HTC India 3.13.720.2 , but i can't find it anywhere ...
so i think you must using goldcard to flashing another RUU with version above 3.13.720.2

sorry..forgot..your phone still can't booting normal..
so i suggest you to unlock bootloader via HTCdev unlock first..then installing custom recovery like 4ext or TWRP..then installing custom rom..
after that..if you still wanna back to the stock again...then you can do it with relock bootloader first then continued to process making a gold card..then flashing the RUU that i give it to you above..
just go to https://www.htcdev.com/ ..don't forget to sign up first..then select unlock bootloader..after that..you must download the latest hboot from there..then extracted the rom.zip from exe..copied to your adb/fastboot.exe folder then update your hboot via fastboot.. with command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" then continued "fastboot flash zip rom.zip" wait until finish..if doesn't automatic reboot just type "fastboot reboot bootloader" then cek your hboot that's already change to hboot 2.00.0029..then you can continued to FASTBOOT mode again..then type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" ..after you get token...then you can continued to process submit token to htcdev unlock for request unlock.bin from htc to unlock your bootloader..
hope this can help..

you don't need HTC sync to do that...just download SDK from here.. and placed in C:\ drive on your pc.
then you continued to step :
1. download your hboot update from here..
2. after you already download your hboot.. running that exe file until next to second step..now you must hold at this point..don't close this..let open
3. open explorer then search the rom.zip file under C:\Users\"your username"\AppData\Local\Temp\ "you will see a lot of folder like this {5917E83E-C23B-491F-9D62-6AB7E6E87DC6} and you must try looking one by one by open it and see there is a file dotnetinstaller.exe inside that folder and had a folder like before too {5917E83E-C23B-491F-9D62-6AB7E6E87DC6}..then open it again that folder..now you can find the rom.zip file in there"
4. copying that rom.zip file to your SDK under platform-tools folder..and turn on your phone again with pressing and hold volume down+power until get inside bootloader then select FASTBOOT mode
5. open cmd change source to your SDK / platform-tools folder then typing "fastboot devices" enter to checking first that your phone is already connected properly
5. typing "fastboot oem rebootRUU" enter
6. "fastboot flash zip rom.zip" enter and wait until finish..
7. now if succes you can continued to the step unlocking your bootloader just following instruction from www.htcdev.com
8. if already success unlock your bootloader..then you can continued installing custom recovery like 4ext recovery (just try searching it on google how to do that)
9. download custom rom..then installing
10. done..enjoy it
all command without quote
hope this can help..

No "Yes or No" page when Unlocking bootloader!

Hello,
I tried to unlock the bootloader of my HTC Desire 816 Dual SIM, but the last step does not occur; that is, the page that should appear on the phone's screen and ask me to choose Yes or No (the page you see in the first attachment below), does not appear on my screen.
1. What is wrong?
2. Please help me to unlock the bootloader.
(Some points about the conditions my phone is in:
1. does not boot normally,
2. boots directly into Fastboot page,
3. in fastboot page I can select and enter Hboot page,
4. in Hboot menu, when I select Recovery, or Factory Reset, it only returns to Fastboot page.
5. as the attachment shows, the OS- is blank)
If you connect your phone to pc and select Fastboot, is Fastboot usb written at the top? Does your pc recognize the phone?
Have you tried flashing your original RUU?
For flashing RUU bootloader won't need to be unlocked. Just place your RUU zip on sd-card and it should flash the file on its own.

1. Yes FASTBOOT USB is written at the top
2. I have installed HTC Sync Manager; when I connect the phone, HTC Sync Manager starts but it says "no device connected". I think this is because the phone is not in normal mode but in fastboot mode.
3. I downloaded an "0P9CIMG_A5_DUG,... 2.34.401.2..." zip and put it in sdcard; it started to update but at the stage [1] BOOTLOADER, -FAIL-PU appeared and at the bottom of the page "Device halted due to Large Image". (see attachment)
Now I want to download "RUU_A5_DUG,... 2.34.401.1...exe" and I will try it. But before downloading, Let me ask the following question:
If 'adb devices' command won't work even if FASTBOOT USB is written on the phone, what does this mean?

Plz select another ruu from the link
If the command adb devices doesn't work, it's most likely not the snapdragon version. then the whole flashing process is completely different and most ruus you'll find won't work.

My procssor kind is: Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7
The picture of the result of "adb devices" command I have attached.
1. You said "whole flashing process is completely different".
How is the flashing process for non-snapdragon version?
2. You said "most ruus you'll find won't work".
a. Do you know why? b. What kind of RUU might work for non-snapdragon version?

Sorry, I've had issues with my own phone the last few days( bad flash) and have been working to get it back to normal.
1. If you had the Mediatek processor like the 816g you would have to use the MTK toolkit to flash roms to your phone. Your device has a Snapdragon processor so that's not an issue. Nukaru was just saying if your phone wasn't responding to fastboot command then it might not be a Snapdragon but it is so your fine there.
2. No RUU you find will work unless it is the "exact" file for your version. These are signed files from the phone carrier/manufacture and they check your bootloader for the CID/version ID before allowing any rom to flash. Also trying to flash an older version of your rom than the one that was previously on the phone won't work. You can only flash either the last firmware version(401.2) or a newer version if available.
Your problem is twofold. Your phone's firmware is not readily available on the net and your OS seems to be either missing or corrupted with an unlockable bootloader. Unless you can either find or get your phone's carrier to find and give you the stock firmware zip/RUU so that you can restore your rom things aren't looking good and I don't ever like saying that trust me. Contact your carrier and request access to a flashable zip/RUU of your current rom. You haven't modified or changed anything on your phone so what can it hurt to ask? That's the best advice I've got without being able to unlock your bootloader.
Can my phone's lacking a ROM be the cause of non-appearance of "Yes or No" page (described in original post)?
Okay, was saving this for last. Please only post yes or no answers.
1. Are you a 100% sure your phone wasn't tampered with? Was the sealing intakt when you bought it?
2. Have you ever send your device to HTC to get it repaired?
3. Have you tried flashing another RUU before the error first popped up?
4. Did your device lag after you updated to lollipop?
5. Was this (drained battery) the first reboot after OTA update?
6. Have you installed all drivers correctly? HTC, java and adb? If you're not sure, try installing them again. After that try adb command again.
6. In which region did you buy this phone? Is it an Indian dual SIM version?

1. Yes. I am sure. because it was sealed.
2. Yes.
3. No. I have tried only one 0P9CIMG.zip and got "Device halted due to Large Image".
4. I am not sure. It worked a long time with 5.0.2 before the problem.
5. No.
6. java and adb are good. I have installed HTC Sync Manager successfully and when I connect the phone to PC, HTC Sync Manager starts but cannot recognize the device.
7 (actully). It has been bought from Iran. HTC middle east chat, told me that its Carrier is "Paratel FZE" which is in United Arab Emirates.

There's S off using the Sunshine app but you need to be rooted first and that means unlocking your bootloader thru HTCDEV first to root it then re locking your bootloader before running the Sunshine app which then unlocks it again. So basically the answer is no. Sorry.
1. Is it possible to flash bootloader?
2. My 0P9CIMG.zip fails at the stage "[1] BOOTLOADER". (look at attachment)
Why it stops at this particular stage?

1. Not unless your bootloader is first unlocked and the phone is rooted and you have the proper bootloader image to flash
2. Are you using an SD card that is formatted fat32( 32gb/64gb?) The larger 128gb cards are formatted exfat I believe. The file your trying to flash was never unzipped after download correct? If your transferring the file to your phone via your USB from your computer you might try using an SD card reader and remove your card and put it in the reader and transfer it from your computer to your card that way to ensure it got transferred ok(not corrupted in the MTP transfer.)

It's probably not because you've had no access to it as it is still locked. Even if it was damaged it can't be flashed over unless its unlocked and you'd need the correct bootloader image and that might be hard to find. Might be getting close to the time to consider getting another phone as your operating system is gone or damaged and can't find the correct ffirmware to flash back.

I have found the correct ruu.exe. The problem is that when the ruu.exe reaches the stage of "Rebooting to bootloader.........." (attachment 1) and sends the command to the phone, the phone is so slow in booting to bootloader that ruu.exe stops and says usb connection error.
I extracted rom.zip from ruu.exe.
Should I rename "rom.zip" to "0P9CIMG.zip" before putting it in sdcard?

No fastboot option in Download Mode

So I'm trying to unlock bootloader using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
But I get stuck when typing the "fastboot" line, since there is no fastboot option in my Download Mode.
M9 with Marshmallow update.
Any help will be appreciated.

You need to be in download mode for the instructions to work.
There is a video of the procedure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6iZ3GtVnQ
Good luck!
That's my actual problem
The procedure shown in the video is made for devices that already have bootloader unlocked, but mine isn't, and the reason is step 2 shown in htcdev.com:
I don't have any fastboot option to highlight.
Also, when typing the "fastboot" command in terminal, I get the "unknown command" message.

So I'm stuck in bootscreen with the red text "this build is... bla bla...", the phone powers off, and then again to the same screen with the same message.
What did I miss?
Also, I was following the steps in the video without reading, and accepted that TWRP root my phone, despite the code saying not to. Maybe that's the problem?
Installed TWRP 2.8.5.0 and SuperSU 2.76
I've already managed to unlock bootloader, because it says: System modified, *unlocked*, s-on
U are already unlocked.
Now, restore a backup, if u did one in TWRP.
If not, try installing a custom ROM, ARHD or Maximus are closest to stock.
Good luck!

1. What phone model? What version of firmware 5.0.2 or 6.0.1?
Yes, same this with me. 6.0. I tried reset, but reset is not working. So I unlocked device , installed twrp, but twrp sometimes starts and only for few seconds. Mostly phone is either stuck in logo, or just shuts down after boot vibration. No luck in recovery. My phone crashed suddenly and got into this situation.

You have to register.
For Windows: Install HTC drivers, HTC Sync Manager(optional), fastboot, adb.
For linux: Install android-tools
Put phone into Hboot -> Fastboot.
Connect to PC and from cmd/terminal you have to execute commands as told by HTC site.
> fastboot oem get_identifier_token
This will give you a string , copy paste from '<<Identifier Token start>>' to '<<Token End>>' , only this column, no prefix.
Paste this into website. There will be text box while following steps.
You will get a file in email attachment. It will be something like this 'Unlock_code.bin'
And also the link to further steps will be provided.
> fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
You will get option on phone screen. 'Yes' 'No'. Use volume button and select Yes.
and its done.
It hardly takes a minute

Yes it happens sometimes.
Make sure the recovery step was complete. For win: The .exe cmd should exit on clicking enter or automatic, till then don't remove the phone.
Try some combinations:
- turn phone OFF from Hboot then start recovery
- if screen shows 'entering recovery' let it be , wait for reboot or shutdown
- try alternative options of 'reset' and 'recovery' both will get you to twrp
- remove sdcard then try
- check charging
- don't try if overheating, let the phone be in normal temperature.
I had similar problem, but trying combos started twrp.
The mistake I did was to wipe everything. Don't do that, try to wipe cache, the first default option provided by twrp and start phone. (no sdcard/sim)
I was able to install Tomal's Discovery ROM but after some time phone again rebooted and stuck in loop.
For any restore/flash use internal memory. SDcard failed to work for me ( i tried many different sdcards).
