Anything new/noticable improvements in new US update? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hello, yesterday I got notification about new update (2.38617.6) and I wondered If anyone had installed the update and would like to share some info about it as the changelod is quite vague. Are there any new things, features or vast improvements? The update is quite large.

Judging by the "3" in the series of numbers this would be a significant update. I would definitely update a stock rom with this. This hasn't been posted yet on the HTC US website yet. I have to wait for that since I am on a custom rom.

Nothing noticeable @ changes... Mostly security update Im assuming
2.38.617.6 RUU

[Q] System Update - 12/19/14 - 3.31.654.2?

Anyone get the M8 system update on 12/19?
HTC lists it as an bug fix update - version 3.31.651.2
Now today (12/22), I got an update that lists it as bug fixes also with a version of 3.31.654.2
I was wondering what it's fixing as I can't find any changelog.
I am using the Sprint M8 H&K model.
Lego
I got the 651 version today, but I have the regular M8, not the HK version. I'm curious what this does as well. I wasn't able to get the previous update to 4.4.4, making me think it had been pulled. Would love to see what bug fixes they're referring to.

What I found interesting is, that they only way I found the update was selecting "check for updates" in my settings...
I never got a notification for it....
I did get the 4.4.4 though weeks ago.....
Seems HTC wants to keep what ever they are trying to fix under wraps, whose back are they watching google's or their own...
naturally I would think their own...!
Is this to do with the latest fiasco we faced with the HTC service packs (I still haven't installed the new one which has been released after the December 11th release!!!)

Next marshmallow update?

Hi guys
when do you think we will see a new marshmallow update from Google? Will it be anytime soon? Will it be a major update fixing a lot of stuff, maybe changing something? Or will it be a little security update just like the previous one? And what do you think the version will be, 6.0.2, or will they jump to 6.1?
Thread is open for discussion/theories.

I guess Marshmellow doesn't need too much of tinkering to begin with. So, we will be getting timely secuity updates from time to time along with small fixes as and when they are found. One thing is for for sure though, We ain't jumping to 6.1 directly.
i believe there is a reason not only the latest update was refered to as 'monthly security upate'. also we're beyond that point where every update increases the version number. chances are that we'll stay on 6.0.1, unless google includes a somewhat major feature update.

Today's update.

Just got a small update. Anyone know what's in it? 6.0 prep maybe?

A big update needs a small prep update???? Never heard LOL
Too many video games, I guess. Was half asleep and forgot that that's just not how this works lol
Lousy timing on AT&T. I have been trolling waiting for this update and got really excited. Would have been OK with even an update to unlock the FM radio but alas, we just have a generic update.

No i didn't "root/hack the software" lol . i haven't even received the phone from retailer. this phone is factory unlocked. IMO or experiences this will not affect it but wanted a third opinion.

Unlocked doesn't mean that it was hacked or rooted. It means that you can use any carrier's sim card in it.

I'm no expert, but the way I think it works is that if your phone's not AT&T branded you won't get the update as they are AT&T version specific. If you want to check for and get any kind of updates you'll probably have to go through Samsung's Kies program.
Sorry, misread on the unlocked part.
I just got lots of updates from the play store, one of which is the new Samsung Browser that is included in 6.0 Marshmallow
ok thanks Kyuta Syuko for the information

The Samsung Browser update wasn't tied to this update, Samsung updated the browser to work with Lollipop.

Any one know where i can download this update and update manually? I have a att note 4 on tmobile. I use to be a att customer. But i was told by tmobile that my device software updates have to come from att because i have a att branded version of the note 4.

If i had att i would be able to install this update on my phone and would not even need to ask about this. But i no longer have att and have tmobile and want to have all the latest bug and os patches even though you think i do not need it.

Android's April security update tackles another Stagefright flaw
You'll want to update in short order.
Google's monthly Android security updates are nothing new, but its latest release may be particularly important. The new April update tackles eight critical vulnerabilites that include one in the libstagefright library -- you know, the same media framework that recently faced a rash of real and potential exploits. It also patches a nasty kernel flaw that would give attackers full control over your device. You'll get first crack at the fixes if you either have a Nexus device or can install an Android Open Source Project build, but other vendors that offer Google's monthly updates will likely follow suit before long.
Now tell me that i do not need this update!

Relax no one's gonna target you and "hack into your phone" if your worried about stagefirght then you shouldn't rely on att or Samsung for that matter to patch it, consider using a texting app that offers protection instead like textra. Anyway good luck finding that 60mb insignificant update file that no one will bother to upload
Stagefright was patched way before this and even though we just got the update, we still don't have the latest patch

Looking for OTA update links TA-1050

Hello,
got here a new TA-1050, and been reading about updates. Was quite glad to find the list at HMD Nokia,
/phones/en_int/security-updates , then less thrilled to learn Pie is not a smooth sailing yet.
The device is on 00WW_2_13B, and offers OTA update to 00WW_3_260. If these are the only choices, I'm staying with 2_13B,
but would preffer the latest Oreo 00WW_2_22E_SP03 instead, or at least the patches with 00WW_2_13B_SP05.
If I understand correctly, all these updates should be still available via ota-api links, all official and signed, installable via copying to SD card and update command / dial.
But the only link I found is for the Pie update - the /packages/ota-api/nokia_pl2sprout_plate200ww/1879f071d6ca7ca72fb1a750f045c3cdf00ff4dc.zip
Is there a way to get the links for 00WW_2_22E / 00WW_2_22E_SP03 / 00WW_2_13B_SP05 ?
As in, does someone have them and would be willing to share?
Thanks in advance.
Pie is as stable as it can be. Whoever says something else is just a crybaby. :/

Exactly. The Pie update is a big improvement. Highly recommended.

Software Update info?

I got an OTA update yesterday (the first since I purchased the device). I think I've been spoiled by custom firmware describing exactly what each update has changed.
As far as I can tell, the info section doesn't give any details whatsoever about the update itself (e.g. if it added new features and what they are, or was just a security patch etc). Is there anything deep within the strange menu setup of this phone that gives this info, or info on the LG website with this info etc?

It might just be the April security patch.

According to J. Williams who is reviewing the US version, the software update provided an update to the audio, made the speakers seem louder.
